Update - 19th November. 2008 - Ladies Day

Swami knew right from the beginning that redemption of a nation has to begin with the redemption of its women and it was for this reason that He began His massive educational revitalising with a womens' college at Anantapur. In the same manner, He dedicated the 19th of November as a day to recognise the rich contributions of women and ever since the World Ladies' Day is celebrated with intensity on the 19th of the Birthday month. Infact at many places, the 19th of every month is observed as Ladies' Day. Ladies' day at Prasanthi Nilayam began with the traditional Suprabhatam being sung by Smt. P. Susheela just before 5.30 am. Even the Veda chanting around Swami's mandir in the morning was done by a women's contingent.

Kulwant hall seemed to be the bride today ready to receive her Divine groom! Rows of lamps had been lined up on either side of the path that Swami would be moving on. The brass band from Anantapur and the bagpipes band from the Primary school stood in readiness to escort Swami. There was also a Veda chanting group with the traditional Poorna Kumbham. The marble block was filled with solar lamps, water filters and blankets which Swami would be blessing to be distributed to the needy in and around Puttaparthi. Swami arrived in Sai Kulwant Hall at 9.30 am in a procession led by the girls bands of the Anantapur campus of the Sri Sathya Sai University and the Primary School, along with Vedam chanting students, as a welcome song was aired. As He moved onto the stage, He lit the lamp to mark the beginning of the day's proceedings. He then sat on the ladies' side of the stage where a huge picture of the Divine Mother Easwaramma rested, adorning the stage by her son's side!

Ms. Chetana Raju delivering the introductory speech dwelled upon the mystery of Divinity encased in human form. Most of us live and carry upon the surfus the wondrous workings of Bhagawan remarkably unaware of the levels upon levels with which so much is going on. Who is His instrument and who is not? What is God's work and what is not? asked the speaker. Reflecting on the right perspective one should inculcate with our approach to Bhagawan, the speaker further added: we are opportunists whom Bhagawan give 101 chances to serve and becoming a servant. Our stay on earth is like a flicker of a candle placed against eternity. It is He what He is today, and shall be Sri Sathya Sai what He will be tomorrow. His name will echo in the heart of creation for ever and ever, for eternity, concluded the speaker. The second speaker for the session was Dr. Ankhi Mukherjee, an alumnus at Anantapur Campus between1984-1991. Ankhi Mukherjee started with a meditation on knowing Bhagawan through the register of "vidya" and spoke of "vidya" as the "portable property" she has carried away from her years at the Institute. Describing her relationship with Bhagawan as one of telepathy – both distant and intimate, from "tele" and "pathos" of the same word, she discussed the implication of Women's education for not just self-improvement, or the improvement of a class of women, but for the overall improvement of women. The last speaker was Sylvia Alden, from the US, a retired teacher, holding a Masters in Special Education. In a moving speech packed with emotion and devotion, she prayed to Swami: Swami, I pray that the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart will be acceptable to You, my Lord and my All. Dwelling upon the concept "Universal" and its dictionary meaning, the speaker credited Bhagawan to be the universal solution. He is that which exists and is true in all places and at all times and in all situations as justice and beauty. She also stressed the fact that Swami says, "Even the words I speak as a joke is TRUTH." but sadly we seem to take that declaration itself in a light manner. She exhorted to all that we should rise out of that foolishness.

As the speeches were completed, Swami blessed the distribution to begin. The needy had been identified and were seated in lines. They came up to the front and bowed to Swami before receiving the gifts of Love from various ladies who had been blessed to do that noble deed of giving. Swami's love is such that while He gives some the joy of receiving gifts, He gifts the joy of giving to some others - but it is sheer Joy that He gifts to all. And so it was that solar LED lanterns, water purifiers, rugs and other items useful for the rural folk were passed on to the recipients drawn from various parts of Anantapur district. Swami sat watching the proceedings throughout. After that was completed, Swami gifted something of which everyone is needy - Grace in the form of 'sweet' prasadam! After prasadam distribution, Bhagawan accepted Arati at 11.10 before returning to His residence.

In the evening, once again Swami was ushered into Sai Kulwant Hall in a grand and elaborate procession, with another welcome song played over the speakers, at 5 pm. When He completed the darshan rounds and reached the Mandir, He moved to the Bhajan Hall where the children from the Primary school were ready in costumes for their programme this evening. The children were shining in their multicoloured dresses and Swami's eyes seemed to light up seeing them. After a brief interaction with them, Swami came onstage and started the programme for the evening.

The evening session started off with a soulful rendering of devotional music by Sunita, Surabhi Shravani and Smita. Starting with an invocation prayer to Lord Ganesha, "Shuklambharadharam Vishnum", they sang the famous "Sathyam Sivam Sundaram", "Jagadi Sigadu", a patriotic piece, "Sri Rama Chandra Kripalu", "Allah Tero Naam", "Vendi Ginneluka" and "Eashwar Hey Allah Ek Pukaar…", receiving applause from the packed Sai Kulwant Hall. In between, Swami went into the interview room for brief while but soon returned with sarees to give the artistes. The joy that the singing in Swami's presence bestows is such that one becomes oblivious to everything else. That was the case with the three singers too and it was Swami who made a sweet request, "Its enough now! The children are waiting to perform." The beauty with Swami is that whether He tells anyone to start singing or stop singing, they do it instantly with the same joy! They concluded the concert and Swami gifted sarees to the ladies and white safari pieces to the gents. As the musicians were packing up, tiny tots came up the stage with cards, flowers and presents.

The name of the dance drama was "Sai Vigrahavan Prema" inspired from the famous statement, "Ramo Vigrahavan Dharma". Avatars have come at different times with different missions and their glories and their stories have become the life breath for multitudes everywhere. Is it ever possible to bring these Gods on one stage depicting their stories? This seemed to be the attempt by the students from the Primary School through a dazzling display of light, music, dance and drama in the fading light of the Ladies' Day evening. Their 70 minute dance-drama brought out the glory of Sai down the ages from Krita Yuga till the present, with video projections on the back-drop adding to the narrative. The narrative sifted between eras of time and the different Avatars to highlight the glory of His story and the story of His glory. Shown were episodes from Swami's childhood and dialogues were borrowed from Swami's daily vocabulary of Telugu words and that seemed to strike at the heart chords of the audience! The performers ranged from the 12th standard girls till the little ones from 2nd or 3rd standard. The hardwork and sincerity of purpose and practise was easily visible in all the performances and so it was no surprise that Swami was very happy at the end of their performance.

He moved down the stage and posed with the children for photos. All the girls came in small groups and sat by Him posing for pictures. Some spoke to Him and many took padanamaskar. Granting joy to all His children, Swami moved up the stage again. The children were all in the centre of the marble block as both the divine mother, Easwaramma, and The Divine Mother, Swami, seemed to look at them with Love and Grace. Blessing them, Swami received Aarthi and retired to Yajur Mandir.

Full Text of Swami's 83rd Birthday Discourse - The Milestone Discourse

All the names and forms are but the manifestations of the Supreme Being who is Existence-Knowledge -Bliss Absolute and non-dual. He is the embodiment of Sathyam, Sivam, Sundaram (Truth, Goodness, Beauty). He is Sathya Sai Maheswaram.

- Sanskrit Verse

Embodiments of Love!

Bharat is a highly sacred land. In this sacred land of Bharat beauty lies in forbearance. In fact character is more important than even life. Such principle is getting wiped out of this land. We follow the principles of foreign culture. Just as a mighty elephant is not aware of its strength, Bharatiyas are not aware of their innate strength. This is the sad plight of the Bharatiyas. An illiterate mahout controls the mighty elephant.

The Vedas declare that no property or association will confer immortality, only Thyaga will confer immortality. We have ruined ourselves because of the absence of unity. Therefore, it is most essential to develop unity. Calling ourselves as human beings we behave like animals. Suppose we have partaken of a few delicious items. But the next morning it becomes faecal matter. Though it comes out of one's own self, it has to be discarded. We have to accept all that is good in society.

There is nothing great in doing good to those who have done good to us. Greatness lies in doing good to those who have harmed us. Yad Bhavam Tad Bhavathi .When our feelings are good, our actions will also be good. After eating mango fruit, one cannot get the belch of cucumber. If there is goodness in the mind, all that you do will be good, but when there is no goodness in the mind, all that you do will also be bad.

There is a place called Muddenahalli in the State of Karnataka. All the inhabitants of that place are very poor. Earlier when the school was built, many extended their help to construct classrooms and a hall for Bhajans. But to pursue higher studies, the people have to go to Bangalore since there is no university in Muddenahalli. Today I have decided to have a separate campus affiliated to Sri Sathya Sai University in Muddenahalli. Bhagawan's Will is bound to happen. The work will start from tomorrow. Therefore, Bhagawan has Willed to have Sathya Sai University in Muddenahalli. The people living in Muddenahalli are village folk. They live by physical labour. To pursue higher studies, they have to go to cities or towns. Once they have completed their education, they can go elsewhere to earn a living. Bhagawan has decided to inculcate spirituality through Bhagavatam, Bhagawad Gita and Ramayana. It takes 3 years to learn.

Without spirituality, all education will be in vain. There are many educated people but they are not doing anything to society. They indulge in gambling and other bad practices. When you direct children in the right way, they will become responsible citizens. Therefore, Bhagawan has decided to start University Campus in Muddenahalli. It will take 2 to 3 crores to construct the University Campus, but Bhagawan has decided to construct the Campus.

In Prasanthi Nilayam, we have students like pure gold. There may be some defects, but they would correct them. Not only correction, adjustment also. Today the elders are responsible for spoiling the students. Nowadays students are correcting even parents. If the father is a drunkard, the son corrects him by saying that he will earn a bad name in society. If the children are to be good, the elders should be perfect in their life. If the elders smoke cigarettes and drink liquor in front of them, naturally the children too get addicted to these vices.

I am going to build the hostel and campus in Muddenahalli with all facilities. It would be completed in one year. This is Bhagawan's Divine Will. Bhagawan has been waiting to make this declaration.

Many extol Bhagawan in many ways. Bhagawan is not happy when He is extolled. Bhagawan is love personified. People may speak ill of Him, but Bhagawan is full of love. There are no enemies for Bhagawan. He takes care of everyone like children.

The love of Bhagawan can be compared to 1,000 mothers love. With this power, Bhagawan is carrying on His mission. Bhagawan corrects people by feigning anger when they mistakes, but he is never really angry. You are not recognising Bhagawan's love in depth. There is no difference in the heart of Bhagawan. Samasta Lokah Sukhino Bhavantu (May all the beings of all the worlds be happy!) Bhagawan wishes all to be happy and healthy with plenty and prosperity.

Bhagawan never asks for money from anyone. Out of thousands of devotees present here, not even a single person can say that Bhagawan had asked money from him. Money comes and goes, morality comes and grows. Ramdas spent all the money he collected as tax to build a temple for Rama.

He was incarcerated by the king when he came to know of this. In this moment of agony, Ramdas cried to the Lord, "Oh Lord, you flaunt all your jewels in all grandeur, but see my condition now." But afterwards Ramdas repented and asked for forgiveness from the Lord.

People speak according to their whims and fancies. But Bhagawan has no such imagination. People may say thousand bad things about Bhagawan, but He never punishes them. You may question now, but later in future you will repent for your mistake.. No one has recognised even a fraction of His thoughts. They do not recognise the love that comes out of His heart. All should be happy and live in love. We may not have property and wealth, but if we have the wealth of love, we are sure to succeed.

When you are confronted by difficulties, loss and grief, consider them as God's gift. When anyone asks your name, you should not say Rama, Krishna, but you should say, "I am I".

I and mine are the origin of man's ego. We should first of all give up this quality of ego. Bhagawan wants you to live long and stand united. Let us all grow together, move together and live together.

Bhagawan has made drinking water available to 1 crore people in Chennai. I have brought water all the way from river Krishna. What the British could not do, I did it. I gave drinking water to the people living in the upland areas of East and West Godavari districts. Bhagawan always does something good or the other. Now Bhagawan is going to build a separate campus affiliated to Sathya Sai University in Muddenahalli. Any Muddenahalli teachers in the gathering? Did you hear Bhagawan's words? Be happy. Narayana Rao, the Principal of Muddenahalli is a double doctorate holder. He takes care of the entire management. He was waiting for Bhagawan's compassion.

You share this bliss with everybody. Be happy

83RD BIRTHDAY DIVINE DARSHAN & DISCOURSE UPDATE 2008

Om Sairam dear Sai Family

The afternoon session of Swami’s birthday was full of love and surprises.. The Kulwanth hall as expected was full by 2:00 pm and as usual the Ganesha gate was closed and the lines just to go inside the ashram premises was touching the hanuman temple. Many devotees made unsuccessful attempts to go in and gave up and many couldn’t make it to the ashram on birthday..

It was a long wait for all of us seated in the Sai Kulwanth Hall. Swami blessed us with His divine darshan at 5:45 pm. Every body were looking forward to yet another blissful session.

Swami preferred to come in the mobile throne in His orange robe. After reaching on the dais He called upon Prof. Anil Kumar. Prof. Anil Kumar after a short poetic session in Telugu praising Swami and His kind heart for coming to this world introduced the two speakers blessed this afternoon.

The first one was Sri Sreenivasan, the member of central trust and international president of Sai Organisation and Sri Ajit Poppat, popularly called as PUPPET among Sai Family..

Sri Sreenivasan said apart from the whole humanity, the stars, planets, asteroids were so lucky that they had more than 1000 darshans of Swami. Swami while telling about the Orissa flood hit victims, asked the authorities to make sure people get all the requirements and what ever Swami does, it should be permanent and long lasting. Swami was talking about the houses the trust was going to built to the needy there..

Sri Sreenivasan was of the opinion that Swami was reaching devotees before they could reach Him and that is the uniqueness of Swami.

For every one faith is very important. Just make sure that Swami will keep all things at the right place and have full faith in Swami. To reach Swami, there is NO NEED for intermediaries ..Sri Sreenivasan asked all of us to have direct contact with Swami

Later Mr.Puppet stole the show with His hall mark Sanskrit, Hindi, English talk and many times Swami smiled, laughed and the audience were ecstasy and he got loud applauds from the devotees. He spoke on intellectual devotion

Puppet started with a prayer and thanked the Prema, Sathya Paripoorna Avatara for giving this opportunity. When you come as human you have to behave like human and that is what Swami wants. Once Swami asked Mr. Puppet, Puppet, Does your heart beats for you or others? for which Puppet didn’t have any answer. It is mere selfishness if we work for our selves. Every moment of our life should be spent for the welfare of our fellow beings.

Instead of saying Soham Soham we are saying Phonam Phonam spending our valuable time by talking over phone.

Before leaving for the UK Puppet said to Swami .. Swami I feel your presence 24 hours to which Swami said I am always with you every second don’t count in hours. I want you to be successful and there lies My happiness. You don’t know how fortunate you are. I give you darshan every day. There are many saints and sages who are doing penance for years and years in the Himalayas for My darshan and I go to see them just now and then. You say, I come to your rescue at the last moment which is not true.. I come to your rescue at the RIGH MOMENT.

Later Puppet urged Swami to bless the UK with a Sarva Dharma Stupa identical to that which is present in Swami’s house compound to spread the message LOVE ALL SERVE ALL to the whole Europe and other countries..

Talking of LOVE ALL SERVE ALL, Puppet remembered what Swami said to him in one interview.. “Puppet you love all for My sake, you serve all in MY name and then there want be the “I”, ego and that will make you a real BHAKTHA (devotee).

It was just awesome to listen to Mr. Puppet for close to 30 minutes. While he was speaking celebrity singer, and the singer who sang the Golden Chariot song, Mr. Sankar Mahadevan came on the dais and he was overwhelmed like all of us listening to Mr. Puppet.

It was 6:50pm, and every one thought like last year’s birthday celebrations, this year also we might not have the Birthday Divine Discourse but we should love His uncertainty. . Swami surprising every one asked for the mike and in no time, Prof. Anil Kumar was ready next to Swami waiting for the nectarine words to roll out which are always sweet to listen and good for our transformation.

This birthday’s discourse had lot of LOVE and AFFECTION. Swami made a very significant statement and also showered lot of grace on Muddanahalli school, yet another prestigious project to be taken up by Swami. I had the good fortune to listen to the 1990 discourse where He announced the opening of super speciality hospital surprising every one and I could see the same confidence and desperation to reach the needy in today’s discourse and with our Swami anything is Possible and I am sure there no word such as IMPOSSIBLE in His divine dictionary and He definitely doesn’t like that word.

Swami started with a verse, Sarva Roopa Dharam Shantham, Sarva Naam Dharam Shivam, Sachidananda Roopam advaitam Sathyam Shivam Sundaram Sathya Sai Maheswaram.

Embodiments of Love,

India is very sacred land. In this holy land patience is the beauty. This is the land which has given more importance to self respect than life. But due to rapid westernization , there is lot of unwanted things happening. Indians have become like a mighty elephant who listens to an illiterate, weak mahout.

Accept good and deny bad. Don’t harm anyone. There is nothing great to do good to your friends but you should do good to your enemy. Have good feeling towards them. If our hearts are good everything will be good. When there is bad in you every thing will be bad.

Muddanahalli School:

Swami announced amidst loud applauds that He is going to add Muddanahalli school under Sri Sathya Sai University and will do everything to develop that school and help the poor students in that area.

“All the students in Muddanahalli are good. The people there have built classrooms and bhajan hall. It is not affiliated to our university rather it is under Bangalore university. I just got the idea to built a college there and improve the Muddanahalli campus. WHAT EVER I WILL IS BOUND TO HAPPEN.” Amidst loud applauds Swami announced that the work will start from tomorrow itself. The whole project will cost 2 to 3 crores. To go for higher studies they have to go to cities. They discontinue studies due to financial problems and work in fields. One has to study first and then work. From now on they will have spiritual education also.

What are all the educated people doing today to the society. They indulge in bad practices and visit clubs. Children follow them. If children are good in their childhood they will become ideal when they are big.

All My students are PURE GOLD. Elders are spoiling students. Children now are in a position to correct parents. If the father is drunkard what a shame it is. Many parents smoke cigarettes and beedies in front of children. It is not good at all.

1000 MOTHERS’ LOVE:

I have no desire, no anger. I am always Happy. I love people who hate Me also. You may have one mother’s love only. But Sai love is 1000 mothers’ love. If anything goes wrong, I pretend to be angry but I am never angry. There is no chance for me to be angry.

My path Is the ROYAL ROAD . There are no diversions on My path. I always want all to be happy. All should be healthy. All should be wealthy. But NEVER MISUSE MONEY. I WILL GIVE YOU MONEY IF YOU WANT, PROVIDED YOU DON’T MISUSE.

Swami continued I never ask any one any thing. Is there any one in this hall whom I have asked money. Money comes and goes, morality comes but grows. If any one has ill feelings against Me let them have it. I will speak to them with love . No one has recognized my love till now. They don’t understand the love . One day or other they will recognize who I am. All should be happy. Don’t run after property. Only LOVE will bring all all the prosperity. Consider lose, success, failure as God’s gift.

DISCARD I AND MY:

Carry on your life without I and My. I brings all ego and My creates attachment. You have to stay away from them. Live long life with love and without ego. Quoting a very interesting and bit humorous example Swami continued raising His right hand. Showing His hand, he said, this tall finger considers I am the tallest and there is none who can beat me. The two fingers next to it say, we are your guards and without us you can’t be safe. The ring finger says, I am the richest and every one put the ring in my finger and I am everyone’s favourite. The index finger says, I am the one who direct every one. By just seeing me people will start working.Hearing all these conversations, it seems the little finger laughs and says, when some one makes a point I am always in the front and I am great.. hearing all this the thumb says, I am the one who gives all the grip and without me you can’t exist.” Swami continued, when all these fingers come united miracles happen and that is what the world needs today.. UNITY.. this example of Swami made everyone smile.

Swami later said, I always do the IMPOSSIBLE and it happens only because I have self confidence. I have provided drinking water to one crore population in Chennai. I have joined Krishna and Godavari rivers which was unsuccessfully tried by Britishers. They also gave a statement that it is impossible. I HAVE DONE IT. The districts of East and West Godavari (Andhra Pradesh), were devoid of water since they were located on a hilly area. I supplied water to all the hilly areas, with modern pumps and purifying units. My intention is always good. I have watched the difficulties of Muddanahalli. He later called up on the principal of Muddanahalli who was seated far in the audience. He went running to Swami, and was blessed with Padanamaskar. Swami continued to speak a few words in Kannada , telling them not to worry. Pass this good news in the state of Karnataka and may all the people be benefited by this school.

Swami later sang Rama Rama Rama Sita bhajan thus ending a beautiful and blissful birthday.

It was a very busy November, the first one of its kind in the life of our beloved Swami.. Lot of activities, society centric activities. Swami has send a very clear message that it is high time for all of us to set aside our monkey mind and turn GODWARD. It is now or never kinda situation. Swami has been teaching us and guiding us all these years and now the time has come for all of us to listen to Him rather hear Him.. Put His teachings into practice and do something for the society and our fellow brothers and sisters. Swami is always there with us and we shouldn’t have any doubts what so ever about any work which is started with a noble intention.

With humble pranams at the lotus feet of our beloved Lord,

R.Satish Naik.

Divine points from Swami's 83rd Birthday Discourse

The following are some wonderful pearls from yesterday's Divine Discourse : I take care of each and everyone like Children - Swami Many extol Me in many ways. Iam is not happy when He is extolled. Full Text of Bhagawan's 2008 Convocation Discourse

Bharat is the motherland of many noble souls who earned great reputation in all the continents of the world. This is the land of many valorous people who could vanquish the enemies in the battlefield. This is the land of many learned people who taught the Vedas and other sacred scriptures to the people of other countries. But, unfortunately, the Bharatiyas today have forgotten the principles of spirituality and are taking to wrong path.

- Telugu Poem

Boys and Girls!

It is your responsibility to uphold the glory of this country Bharat. This country Bharat is highly reputed and is the land of plenty and prosperity. In spite of many foreign invasions, this country has prospered. The real beauty in this land is observance of forbearance.

There is no greater feeling than the feeling that one has towards one’s own mother. This country Bharat is known for women of chastity. Savitri could bring her dead husband back to life. Do you find such chaste women in any other country? This is also the birthplace of Damayanti. Mother Sita came out of blazing fire unscathed to prove her chastity.

Today everyone seems to succumb to silly problems. People seem to have forgotten their responsibilities. Just as a mighty elephant submits to the dictates of the mahout, the Bharatiyas are unaware of their own strength and are aping others. Truth and righteousness have been the guiding principles of Bharat. Since these twin principles are forgotten by the Bharatiyas they are suffering.

Man should declare that I am a human being not an animal. When he declares that he is a human being, he should have human qualities and not animal qualities. Where there is love, there is no chance for hatred or enmity. The dog loves its puppies and the birds love their young ones, but modern man does not love his fellowmen. Today there is no unity in Bharat. Where there is unity, there is purity, where there is purity, there is divinity.

Man should develop faith in the Self. But man today lacks Self-confidence. Self-confidence leads to self-satisfaction, self-satisfaction leads to self-realisation.

Human quality is still prevalent in Bharat. In other countries there are so many problems. Today even countries like U.S.A. and Japan are envious of Bharat. Today the food is polluted, water is polluted, even air is polluted. Bharat faces no such pollution problems. Man is verily God. But man is not able to know his true nature.

Education leads to only argumentation. Modern education is not conferring the knowledge of the Self. Parents spend lakhs and lakhs to send their children abroad for studies. But they return totally spoiled.. There is no need to go abroad. What is available in Bharat is not available elsewhere. The greatness of Bharat is beyond estimation. The kind of fortune that you find is Bharat is not found anywhere.

There are many people who invite Bhagavan to foreign land. They are prepared to bring aeroplanes to take Bhagawan with them. I do not want these comforts, I want only devotion. There are no enemies of Bhagawan. Bhagawan loves everyone. But His pure divine love is often misunderstood.

If your desires are fulfilled, you are sure to be spoiled. So, Bhagawan is training youngsters here with all limitations. Students have great love for Bhagawan. As Bhagawan leaves this place elsewhere, they bid farewell with tears. He is an intelligent man who helps those who have harmed them. That is true human quality. Whomsoever you meet, consider him as God. God is in human form. Rama, Sita, Hanuman, all were humans. All are divine. Names may be different, but the principle of Atma is the same in all.

It is necessary to develop equal-mindedness at this young age. You may think it is difficult, but in reality it is easy. You will not experience in spite of doing Yajnas and rituals. In the outside world, there are only pieces. Peace is within you.

You call yourself as humans and behave like an animal. Evil qualities like greed, avarice, hatred are animal qualities. Be a human with fellow human beings. Do not hate anyone. Till this moment, Swami has no hated anyone. Bhagawan is full of love. Bhagawan may be at a distant place, but divine love is drawing people like magnet. He is not angry with anybody. He is always happy. Bhagawan always smiles. Swami wants us to be blissful.

Swami has not sent any invitation to anyone, but thousands have gathered here. It is only your love for Bhagawan that has drawn you here. When Bhagawan goes in the streets, shopkeepers come running out of their shops to have His Darshan.

On this sacred day, one has to develop love primarily. Very soon the world will be united under one roof. Nobody would say, I am from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala and so on. Everybody would call themselves a Bharatiya. We do not belong to any party. We have only the party of love. You may go anywhere, you will respected and honoured if you have the party of love. Love is selfless. A true man is one without an iota of selfishness. Every human being has love. There is no greater quality than love. Samasta Lokah Sukhino Bhavantu .

This should be our prayer if we want the world to be peaceful. This is the message of Bhagawan today.

83rd birthday darshan update from Prasanthi Nilayam

Om Sairam dearest Sai Family,

Wishing a very happy birthday to all the Swamis all over the world and what a day it was at the Abode of our Beloved Lord. Its been 83 years that Puttaparthi has been witnessing such an auspicious morning.

After a glorious ending to the Sahasra Poorna Chandra Darshana Shanthi Yagna, all devotees were looking forward to the most auspicious festival of our Sai Family.. The Birthday of our Lord, that Lord who neither has a beginning nor an end that Lord, who is beyond time and space, thousands and thousands gathered in Prasanthi Nilayam to celebrate the birthday of our beloved Lord.

Swami always says, Everyday is My birthday. .but to please our hearts He celebrates this day and again to remind us that we are here in Human form, for a definite reason…

The streets were busy as early as 3am.All the devotees who were staying outside the ashram were lining up at 3am gents to the left of Ganesh Gate and ladies to the right. The ladies line went as far as Swami’s primary school and gents lines touched the Hanuman temple.

In side the Ganesha gate was entirely different scene. The Kulwanth hall was jam packed and space next to Ganesha was full and not to forget the lines on the hill top behind Ganesha..

The Kulwanth hall was beautifully decorated to commemorate the 83 years of Advent of our Beloved Lord. The band lead by students from Anantapur Campus were waiting by Swami’s Abode and Swami out of immense grace, blessed all of us with His special Birthday Divine Darshan at 9:45am. The girls from Anantapur campus entered the hall first, followed by primary school girls and boys, the Veda chanting group followed Prasanthi Nailayam students band..

Two eyes were not enough to see our beloved Lord, clad in Pure white robe, having the smile of a innocent child, seated on a bit bigger Mobile Throne to give better darshan to His loving devotees, smiling at every one, wiping His lips with His handkerchief now and then, entered Sai Kulwanth Hall amidst veda chants, nada swaram while four different bands played their music....

It was a long wait for all the devotees seated in Kulwanth hall and with just one look of our beloved Lord, we got back all our energy and forgot all the body pains..

Swami took a full round going past the gents lines also. The path way next to Sai Kulwanth hall was full and the East Prasanthi balcony as usual had maximum capacity to see our Beloved Lord..

Swami then got on to the dais and listened to all bands and later signaled the students to take their seats. Smiling blissfully at every one, Swami then asked for bhajans.. Students sang beautiful bhajans with numbers like, Manishini madhavuniga cheya, madiney Swargamuga mara, Manavudai Avatarinchina Sathya Sai Bhagawanuniki Entha Prema yo Swamiki entha premayo, Needu Sannidi maaku pennidi..

Swami immersed in the ocean of bliss closing His eyes, while these beautiful renderings were going on..

After about 8 bhajans Arathi was given to Swami.. Swami stayed for the whole arathi on the dais, smiling at every one.. and later left to His Abode in the Mobile throne thus ending a beautiful birthday morning..

Outside the Ganesha Gate, the situation was very pitiable.. Many devotees, who had come from far flung areas, to wish our Lord on His birthday, felt very sad that they couldn’t see our beloved Lord on His birthday.. The gates which usually open at 4 am were not opened till 9:30am and one could understand the mental and physical trauma those devotees would have undergone after being waiting to get in since 3 am.

I pray to Bhagawan that this situation may not arise here after and no Sai Brother and sister should feel discarded or rejected. Let every one have blissful darshans and reach greater spiritual heights..I saw many devotees women in particular in tears for not letting them in.

Earlier on 22nd November the 27th convocation of Sri Sathya University was celebrated in a grand way in the immediate presence of the DIVINE CHANCELLOR, Sri Sathya Sai Baba. The Chief guest for the occasion was our own Sri.Venkatraman, former Vice Chancellor of Sathya Sai University a house hold name in the Sai Family, who was instrumental in bringing Swami into our house through Radio Sai .

Sri Venkatraman called Swami’s university as Kaliyuga Gurukulam. In a speech prepared before hand, he shared the love and affection Swami showered on His students..

It so happened one fine day in Brindavan, that Swami came to see His students. There was a huge construction of Boys hostel going on in those days. A student went to Swami and gave a letter to Swami. Swami after sitting on His chair opened the letter and read. Looking at the boy, Swami asked "Can I ask your warden to read this letter aloud”, to which boy said, Your wish Swami..

The boy in the letter expressed unhappiness on building a hostel far away from Swami’s residence.. Immediately, chief engineer late Sri Joga Rao was asked to come. Joga Rao said, but Swami it is just on the other side of your house, but boys, in one voice said, “But Swami there is a wall in between”. This touched Swami’s heart and immediately asked to change the plans and that is why we see boys’ hostel in Brindavan, right next to Swami’s residence..

Swami once visited a Volley ball match played in the college ground. Looking at the boy who was serving the ball, Swami said, see as soon as the boy serves the ball, the boys undergo lot of pain and struggle to make sure that the ball doesn’t touch the ground.in the same way, when I serve you with all the Atma Gnana and it is your duty to take it to the people with full enthusiasm..

Prof. Venkatraman continued to say that many times, Swami takes upon Himself some dangers which the students would undergo. Giving the example of the 1999 Sports meet incident he said, Swami was coming to the stadium in the specially designed chariot. Before getting down, Swami had a fall which was immediately taken care of..

On January 14 (Luckily I was also present on that day when Swami shared this incident in His divine discourse), Swami revealed the secret behind the incident (fall). As soon as Swami entered the stadium, He saw two lorries (trucks) and students were about to do some stunts on it.. Swami sensed a big danger to one of the students who was in the scene which would result in spinal break down. Do save the child, Swami took that on Him. Swami was actually bleeding profusely but the Divince master made sure that no one would notice the bleeding from His robe on to His Feet..

Sri Venkatraman, shared such heart touching incidents with the august gathering before Swami delivered His divine discourse

Clad in a maroon red robe, Swami delivered His divine discourse seated on His chair..

Swami started with a beautiful poem..

Khanda khandantara Khyati narjinchina Mahaneeyulanu kanna matru bhoomi

(this land of Bharat is the mother land of various people who are renowned all over the world.

This land of Bharath has shown scholarly excellence in the field of art and science.

Being born in such a holy land, to safeguard its spiritual riches, it is the responsibility of you boys and girls..

In this Holy Bharath, Forbearance is our strength. Of all the noble acts, adherence to truth is the highest form of penance, This is the land which considers self respect more than Life. Only in this land of Bharath you will find women like Savitri who have fought with God of death Yama and brought back her dead husband Sathya vantha to life..

Do you find such women today? Indians have forgotten their strength. The plight of Indians is like an elephant who doesn’t know her strength. Just one whip of elephant tail can throw away a person 9 feet away..

It is said that Sathya vada, Dharmam Chara..but now it is Sathyam Vadha (truth is killed) and Dharmam Chera (Dharma has been jailed). When you are born as humans you should be truthful. For Humans Dharma and Sathya are two eyes..

Swami went on to say that For every one Self confidence is very important. One should be fearless always. Self confidence is the foundation, Self satisfaction is the wall, self sacrifice is the roof and self realization is life..

Talking about India Swami said, India is the only place where people are not worried about any attacks. In America , Germany and other countries, they can’t eat well or sleep well. There is fear of bombs always in those countries. But in India , there is no fear of bombs. India will never have any such attacks.

Many students after completing their education go to foreign countries. They come back with spoilt character. There is nothing which is not present in India . This country has provided everything and there is no need to go elsewhere. Many people call Swami to come to their countries. Some even say, we will provide you special planes for You. I DON’T WANT ANY COMFORTS.. I WANT ONLY DEVOTION..

Swami made it clear that He has no enemies. Every one loves Him. Many people may have some misunderstandings about Me but it is only their IMAGINATION. . I have no enemies.. I love all. I am always smiling. Many people think how can I keep smiling? I don’t like castoroil faces.. When you all are happy, I will be happy.

Swami made it clear that VERY SOON the whole world will be united. There won’t be any differences what so ever. It is the political parties which create differences. Ours is only one Party and that is LOVE LOVE LOVE..

Iam always blissful.. I some times use harsh words to correct you but you all know my heart is BUTTER.. so saying our sweet Lord ended His hour long divine discourse, nicely translated by our Prof.Anil Kumar..

With pranams at the Lotus feet of our beloved Lord..

R.Satish Naik.. Puttaparthi.

Swami's Divinity - Experiences of VVS Laxman

Speaking today on Bhakthi TV to Shri. Kota Shivakumar who is one of Swami's wonderful old Students, VVS Laxman, India's very special Cricketer recollected that when the Sri Sathya Sai Unity cup was going on, Bhagawan was meeting some Cricketers who were very old Devotees of Swami like Sunil Gavaskar, G.R.Viswanath, EAS Prasanna, Swami specifically asked "Where is VVS Laxman", Swami had never spoken to Laxman before, But Laxman was amazed as to how Swami spoke so wonderfully to him about Cricket and about his parents who are very long standing Devotees. Laxman said that at that time he was in a Big dilemma regarding his Cricketing career and Swami wonderfully told him then " Think of Me, everything will be all right, There will be no problems at all". Needless to say that once he went and recollected his thoughts, every single problem was solved.

Even recently Laxman said that before the just concluded Australian tour when there was training camp in Bangalore, He went for Swami's Darshan twice and Swami said both the times " Baaga Aaduthavu" meaning " You will play very well". Needless to say Laxman was one of the Star performers in that series.

Laxman wonderfully said that before every single match, He prays to Swami to give him strength to do well. No wonder he is nicknamed Very Very Very Special Laxman.

Swami's Convocation 2008 Discourse - Main Points

Sunday, 23 November, 2008 8:38 AM

Swami gave yesterday a most wonderful Discourse on the occasion of the 27th Convocation of the Sri Sathya Sai University. The Important points of Swami's Discourse are given below, the full text of this wonderful Discourse will be mailed later :

1. Swami continuously mentioned many times in the Divine Discourse that India will be the next Global and World Leader in the next 28 Years as India has every great Quality required to make it a Global Power.. The Most Important Qualities that India possesses is the Unique Culture of Bharat and also its Knowledge and Tolerance.

2. India power would grow to a very large extent and it would provide Great Assistance to many Countries in the next 3 Decades.

3. India would face no threat from any nation as it was the country of Plenty and its Great Culture and knowledge would protect it and take it forward.

4. The Glory that India has achieved and will achieve is mainly due to the Mothers ( Woman ) of this country who have raised their children on the 5 Golden values of Truth, Righteousness, Love, Peace and Non Violence, These 5 Golden Principles would always sustain India.

5. Swami said the Country faces a lack of Unity among people. Swami said everyone should have Purity of thought, word and deed only then would there be unity and then Divinity would blossom.

6. Swami also wonderfully mentioned that the main reason that people are not able to attain higher goals in life like Self Realisation is due to the fact that there is no Self Confidence in anyone. Swami said Self confidence is a must to achieve higher goals in life.

6.India is a strong nation as it puts emphasis on Human Values than science whereas other countries put science before Culture.

7. Swami said wonderfully that Parents should not send their children for higher Education abroad as they would only return with Bad Thoughts and habits.

The Full text of the Divine Discourse will be posted later.

GOLDEN CHARIOT DARSHAN UPDATE (17 NOVEMBER 08)

Om Sai Ram dear Sai Family,

Words can't explain the kind of bliss that thousands of devotees witnessed during the last day of Sahasra Poorna Chandra Darshana Shanthi Mahotsavam.

Apart from the many thousands, there were many Swamijis belonging to various temples, spiritual organisations and Institutions. The atmosphere was totally Divine and why not - it was the day to thank the DIVINE for coming to His world, and witnessing 1000 full moons in this BODY.

People started coming in as early as 5am into the stadium. The security staff were all alert and everyone wanted this DREAM day to be a very grand one in typical Swami's style.

All the VVIPS one could think of were present in Puttaparthi apart from many other dignitaries. And while we all were waiting for Swami, Prof. Anil Kumar and Nagaphani Sharma rendered some beautiful poems praising our beloved Swami's compassion and love.

It was around 9am when Sri Jayendra Saraswathi from Kanchi Peetham arrived into the stadium followed by Swami Shivakumara from Sri Siddaganga muth, Karnataka, followed Sri Sakthiamma Swami from Sri Narayani Pitham and others

At 9:45 am the most auspicious time, a profoundly memorable moment in our lives, that moment which is undoubtedly a result of years and years of sadhana, that moment of glory, which made every one jump in joy and that moment of joy which took us to Samadhi state came when the Lord of the Lords clad in bright golden yellow robe, seated in the golden coloured Mobile Throne appeared.

He sat in Supreme Bliss looking at all of us majestically from His Golden Chariot as it entered into the Sri Sathya Sai Hill View stadium amidst veda chantings with 3 huge elephants leading the procession followed by students chanting vedas. The priests and all the Swamiji's on the dais watched the Greatest Avatar the man kind has every witnessed. Thousands in the stadium were wiping their eyes, to take away the tears of joy and have a good view of the MATCHLESS Lord whom we very rarely see in His Golden Chariot.

Swami's chariot which had small tyres was pulled by Sevadals, (they might have done lot of meritorious deeds in their past lives to be chosen for this once in a life time chance), and the chariot took its time and it was just beautiful to watch Swami in His golden chariot seated all alone, blessing all the devotees seated on either side, watching all the arrangements in the stadium and a sweet smile in appreciation.

The Chariot slowly came closer to the dias, all the primary school kids seated right across the dais were in full swing with their characteristic full throated veda chanting. Swami sweetly looked at them appreciating their devotion and blessed them from the Golden Chariot. As the Golden Chariot came closer to the dais, He was slowly wheeled on to the dais and all the Spiritual heads looked at Him, some of them were here for the first time and we could see the bliss on their faces and a first hand experience of what our Swami is and what we devotees mean to Swami and the love He has for us.

The Chariot stopped in front of the dais and Swami transferred on to the dais. He then proceeded to see the vedic activities taking place by the priests and Swami visited each and every Yagna Kunda and blessed the rituals while witnessing the poornahuthi thus ending the Most memorable Event which the Man kind has ever witnessed so far.Swami then came forward and all the Swamiji's were seated on either side of Swami. It was a treat to watch this particular scene where the Avatar of this Kali age with Swamijis from distinguished Spiritual organisations (Muths) in India on either side. Sri ShivaKumara Swami from Sri Siddaganga Muth Spoke in kannada thanking Swami for this opportunity and asked the humanity to uphold the Indian culture and Dharma. The Swamiji who is a centurion was seated next to our beloved Swami and Swami had a sweet smile when He exchanged words with Him.

It was around 10:45am and Arathi was given to Swami and taking leave from all the blessed souls, Swami left to His Physical Abode in His usual Porte car thus marking the end of a magnificient, never before SAI morning and there were smiles and just smiles on every one's faces... and any particular reason for that broad smile??? Its the reflection of Love we have for Swami and if you are smiling or there are any tears in your eyes while reading this report.. its all Swami and His love being reflected on you.....Will we have another holy day like this.. probably yes if Swami blesses us...

Prasadam was distributed to all the approximate150, 000 devotees (the chosen souls) and we all left for our homes with our familes hoping to come back again at 5pm for a cultural programme by Ms.Mahalakshmi Iyer and Troupe and hopefully a divine discourse from the 1000 full moon Swami... while others headed to the Bangalore International Airport to get back to their countries after their 3 or 4 day after having witnessed one of the most important days in the history of the universe.

WHITE AND WHITE, ALL THE WAY:

OM JAI SAI RAM.

Your most loving self reporting from Parthi.

We gathered in the Hill view stadium with lot of apprehensions. Me being a diabetic patient, was worried about an empty stomach for very long. There could be more like me in that vast crowd. We thought we could not leave our sitting space and come back again after having our light refreshments. Then the fear of hot son was another worrying factor. Suppose we felt thirsty, where to go for water.

But believe me, Swami had made all arrangements for his Loving devotees, who had started gathering in the stadium well early in the morning.

As the day light was breaking the huge number of sevadals, started unloading big bags, and started opening them. And what did you find inside those bags? White sun caps!, And plenty of them. The sevadals starting distributing them among the devotees. There could be around one hundred thousand devotees, both gents and ladies. Soon every one was wearing these caps on their heads. A thoughtful and noble act of grace from SAI.

In no time we could find only white heads all over the stadium, including ladies. When the programme finished and Arathi was offered to Bhagavan, the huge crowd surged in huge numbers on the main road. All white dressed devotees, with white caps! It looked as if a huge number of cricket players and taken over the streets of Puttaparthi. White and white all the way!

There were lots of sevadals. Hundred of them swarmed the stadium, carrying big water containers on their back, which were fitted with a small length of plastic pipes and a tap too!. They reached out regularly to every devotee, every 5 minutes and offered cool water. This was a big help. We could even place our mat in our place and go for a break seeking refreshments!

Three huge TV screens had been installed. One on gents side, another over thills behind ladies side, and another slightly smaller one in the gallery reserved for gents VIP. Every movement of Sai was displayed over these big sevens. For those who could not make it to the Hill view stadium, a huge TV screen had been installed near the Ganesh Gate in the Ashram.

We hope to enjoy the Yagnas, to the content of our hearts in spite of the huge crowds.

Scores of Seer/Peetathipathis (heads of various Hindu Mutts are listed to be present in Prashanthi NIayam and receive the blessing of our Divine Master. Prominent among them are (1) Sri Ganesh Sachithanand Swami of Mysore , and Jagadh Guru Sri Kanchi Sankaracharya, Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal. No wonder! Even invisible celestial Devathas should be present in Parthi in these holi festival days.

Sai Ram.

With Love & Regards,

Sahasra Yagnam Updates - 15.11.2008

The venue for the three-day Sahasra Chandra Darshana Mahotsava Yagnam commencing this morning is the extended Shanthi Vedika Stage at the Vidyagiri Stadium. Seating for the vast gathering has been arranged on the ground in addition to the galleries by spreading green matting. Bhagawan arrived at 8.45 and was welcomed onstage with the Poorna Kumbham amidst chanting by the priests and the students. After spending more than 90 minutes going around the different parts of the stage and blessing the entire congregation, Swami accepted Arati and returned to Yajur Mandiram.

The Highlight of the Yagnam is undoubtedly the Suvarna Ratha Darshana Utsavam or Swami coming in the most Magnificent Golden Chariot on the morning of the 17th.

Om Sairam Dear sai Familly,

The atmosphere is totally DIVINE in the Abode of our beloved Lord, who (the body) will be turning 83 in less than week's time.. The much awaited Sahasra Poorna Chandra Darshana Shanti Mahotsvam (SPCDSM) will be celebrated tomorrow in the Hill view stadium, Puttaparthi, in the immediate presence of Swami. This is not a very normal happening. It is a divine happening. In Hindu dharma, any person who has lived 83 years celebrate this kind of Yagna to commemorate witnessing of 1000 full moons in their life. But here, The PERSON who is turning 83 is not just a PERSON, He is our almighty, compassionate Lord, who has come all the way to this earth, to mingle with His creation, to teach Dharma to His creation and to let His creation know the reason for our coming to this Holy earth and being born as Human beings..

The Hindu dharma also says, any person witnessing this kind of Yagna, if you just see the person it is enough and I really can't tell how fortunate those thousands who will be here in Puttaparthi to witness the SPCDSM of Lord of the Lord Himself. More than 200 priests from all parts of the world, (there are some priests from New York as well) to take part in this holy event which is undertaken under the able leadership of Sri. Adi Kesavulu Naidu, an ardent devotee of Swami and presently the chairman of Tirumala Tirupathi Devastanam. Interestingly there are many priests who have served in the sanctum sanctorium of the most famous Tirumala Venkateswara Temple thus making this event more divine and spiritually recharging. We can see the Tirupathi style in the arches (photo enclosed) which tells about the yagna which is conducted for world peace.

The stadium is beautifully decorated with flags of all countries all around the stadium and there are about 12 yagna kundas placed on the stage and that's where the Yagna will take place. Stringent security arrangements are taken to see that devotees don't face any kind of trouble and above all Swami made many personal visits to the stadium to see that every thing is in place..

I remember the song in the oscar nominated movie LAGAAN when the poor villagers sing the song to Lord Krishna to help them to win the cricket match against the Britishers. The line which says "Chandamein too hi to bhari hain chandini, suraj mein ujiyara tumhi sey...(you are the one who has FILLED THE LIGHT IN THE MOON, the sun shines brightly because of you)... for that Lord, witnessing of 1000 full moons doesn't have any significance but it is our GOOD FORTUNE that He has allowed us to conduct and witness this kind of RARE HAPPENING in the history of Man kind and it is no doubt to ignite the GOD within us and reminding us to be more good and aim to merge in Him and not disappoint Him.. Dear brothers and sisters, those who can make it here physically, and those who will STILL be here in spite of PHYSICAL absence.. I sent all the Love, Light and Happiness.. May you all be blessed with a spiritually uplifting and successful life...

There are news that the Live telecast of the Yagna will be aired in SVBC (Sri Venkateswara Bhakthi Channel) a new and less famous TV channel owned by the Tirumala Tirupathi Trust.

This is a free to air channel and those who have DTH serivice can have easy access and witness the happenings live from Puttaparthi. ..

(I also want to thank all my brothers and sisters who prayed for my quick recovery without which I would still be on bed and miss this rare happening)..

With tons of Love

Satish Naik from Puttaparthi.

Live Telecast

News is coming in that there will be a Live Telecast of the Sahasra Poorna Chandra Darsham Yagnam which will be aired in the Sri Venkateswara Bhakthi Channel which is wholly owned by the Tirumala Tirupathi Devasatham. This is a Free to air channel and will be shown by most of the Cable Networks. Please watch this once in a Lifetime opporunity to be part of a very Special and Divine event.

Sahasra Poorna Chandra Darshanam - A Divine Perspective

The Sahasra Poorna Chandra Darshanam stands as a joyous confluence signifying the completion of 82 years in the divine mission of Sri Sathya Sai. Sahasra chandra darshanam refers to seeing 1000 full moons in ones life. With a full moon in every month, we have 12 full months every year and with a subsequent inclusion of the extended months; we would have 1000 full moons in 82 years...

The nine planets take 120 years to complete a cycle. Astrology assigns 120 years to human life. at the age of 60, people conduct UGRA RATHA SHANTI seeking Divine benediction, popularly known as Shashti Poorthi. When one crosses 70 years of age BHEEMA RATHA SHANTI would be held in honour of "Bheema ratha", Shiva the embodiment of time. When one reaches 82 years of age, Sahasra Chandradarshanam would be celebrated. Vedas refer to this as "ASEETIDVAYAM" and hence it is also called as Vedayushya.

Traditionally, what happens during this Sahasra Chandra Darshanam? A person completing this age would be given ceremonial showers and would be adorned with new clothes. Vedic hymns would be recited by the vedic scholars. A holy vessel signifying the Lord Lakshminarayana, flanked by sun and moon- the symbols of flow of time, would be installed on either side and worshipped subsequently. The holy water collected in the kalasham would then be vitalized with Vedic hymns using different kinds of leaves namely mango, peepal, banyan etc. The presiding deities of the nine planets would then be pleased through a sacrifice. After this holy ablutions would be given to Lord Shiva accompanied by the recitation of the Namakam and Chamakam. The person completing 82 years would then be made to occupy a prominent throne. He would be given a bath with holy waters from all the sacred rivers along with many other precious gems etc. Subsequently all the Vedic scholars would be honored with generous gifts.

This generosity is believed to wash away all the sins and grant liberation. The mere sight of the person who undertakes this Vedic exercise is believed to confer immense good fortune. Generally the great grandsons would organize and conduct this ritual in celebration of their great grandfather completing 82 years of age. The whole ritual is undertaken for ones own benefit.

But today we are going to witness this holy ritual being organized and conducted by an incarnation to bring upon peace and happiness in the world. The purity of human expression makes the grandeur of this spectacle impossible to comprehend. Sages of the yore have transformed themselves as His great grandsons to conduct this ritual. Chandra- the moon signifies coolness and acts as a source of joy to all the worlds.

In Krita yuga the mighty king who upheld the truth came to be called as "Satya Harishchandra" . In Treta the Lord was called as "Sree Rama Chandra". In Dwapara He was addressed as "Krishna Chandra" and today the same lord has witnessed thousand moons and is extolled as "Sathya Sai Chandra". The effulgence of this "Sathya Sai Chandra" has blessed every nook and corner of the world. The installation of Holy vessels in this case has taken place long ago. With His will He brought the Holy Ganges from the hair locks of Shiva into his own heart and then quenched the thirst of thousands of parched throats.

Revitalizing the slumbering lives of rural India and assuring of His grace and support, He has encouraged them to move ahead to touch the horizons of happiness. Blessing thousands of students with the knowledge of the higher Self and sending them forth to this wide world, this unrivalled master of Divine perfection has granted the boon of knowledge and wisdom to the hearts of humanity.

As a Chandra of life, he has transformed countless tears of grief into tears of gratitude by curing ailments of the body, mind and the soul. His grace has touched innumerable people and has given immeasurable comfort and consolation to the lives of the poor and needy, the sick and the down trodden in the form of free Medicare. Upholding the cross of Dharma he has become the Lord of forbearance spreading across the message of brotherhood of man and fatherhood of God. He has unified the dogmas of faith and the shackles of religion.

As an eternal confluence of countless faiths and varied beliefs, the Lord has shone forth in immeasurable brilliance and transformed the wicked to wise, the sinner to saint, the unrighteous to righteous and the mortal into immortal. The dense forests of human hearts infected by agitation, jealousy, selfishness, hunger and thirst have been transformed into the enchanting edifices of peace, love, service and kindness through the touch of this "Sai Chandra"

We are the sons, daughters, grandchildren, relatives, near and dear to the Lord who is beyond the ties of family and yet considers this vast humanity as His family. Lord, we are like the stars that shine around the "Moon of compassion" in the infinite scarlet. Many amongst us might not have witnessed our own fathers and grandfathers celebrating this Vedic ritual and yet we rejoice for we witness an occasion that eternity would cherish in its deepest hearts as the fondest memory.

This rare opportunity is bestowed upon all the humanity who are here and elsewhere in the world experiencing this joy Divine. This occasion has the vast sky as its roof; the demigods of heavens perform the holy ablution to this Lord of universe with diamonds, rubies, emeralds and all the various kinds of gems. Oh Lord thine is the throne, the earth and thine umbrella is the scarlet up above, the gods of high heavens are the audience. The Vedas and the creator Brahma are the priests. Oh lord the affluence of compassion that has chiseled new lives from hopeless sighs of helplessness is thy consort.

Every soul that has seen thee and spread thy love to every heart that encounters him is thy child. The majestic flow of water that quenches every thirsty throat is thy daughter. The king, the pauper, young and the old, the reformer, the scientist, the evangelist, the monk, the child, the theist and the atheist have knelt in the presence of thy Love and were dissolved into an existence that no experience could wrought and no expression could ever confer comprehension to it.

Dear Lord, address us till eternity as Bangaroo(Dear ones/ golden ones) and pave the paths of our evolution with gold. Thou art the mighty one. Thou art the moon that sustains the magic of Love, that weaves the miracles of faith, that nourishes the seeds of devotion, that goads the lost, the guides the seers, that transforms the mortals, the chisels God from man.

Thou art the infinite effulgent embodiment of the Truth, the sacred, the light, the sacrifice, the joy, the bliss, the strength, the struggle, the mortal, the immortal, the indifferent, the equanimous, the wealth, the knowledge, the inquiry, the ability, the nobility, the freedom, the virtue and the supreme.

In thine eyes Oh Lord, we witness the brilliance that stirs the lifeless nothingness into a cosmic evolution of creation, the marvel that spurs consciousness in energy. Thee shall hold such celebrations countless in number and we shall stand as witnesses. Muted in expression by thy grandeur the whole earth shall submerge in the roars of happy voices that echo thy supremacy.

This is a continuation of the Sa Re Ga Ma – Sai Regional Gayatri Mantra Initiative which Swami physically blessed on 9th May, 2008 in Sai Kulwant Hall, Prashanthi Nilayam, India.

Beginning Easwaramma Day, 6th May, 2008, young adults from the USA commenced the sadhana to chant a minimum of 11 Gayatris daily for world peace, with the goal of offering 108,000 Gayatris to Swami by Guru Poornima Day, 18th July. With Bhagavan’s Grace, 100+ devotees joined the sadhana from around the world, chanting 250,000+ Gayatris by Guru Poornima, now approaching 400,000!

Prasanthi Update - November 6th

The Learning and Chanting of the Rudram is going on in Prasanthi Nilayam and all around the globe too. That's what happens when anything receives patronage from the Divine Lord Himself!. It was the fulfillment of a promise that had been made at the very beginning of the Rudram tutorials - when Swami had said, "I will personally give prizes to those who learn the Rudram well." As per His command, 150 members from the staff and students of the Sathya Sai university and the Central Trust who were well versed in the Rudram, sat in the mandir portico by 8:00 am.

Swami had said that He would distribute dhoties and angavastrams to all of them. There was an air of eager anticipation and the atmosphere seemed charged. But come 9:00 am, the bhajans began. Grama Seva, that had already begun few days back, was continuing and all the other students left for serving their respective villages. The bhajans also concluded eventually and the special 150 people a few hours ago were the only 150 people now. At about 11:30 am, giving added emphasis and meaning to the statement, "God's delays are not His denials", Swami came out of Yajur Mandir in the car. The cream of the Veda chanting students comprised the 150 seated and so there was a literal Vedic blast of the Rudram. There were no mikes, but the spirited spirits of the energetic youth pining for the Lord more than compensated for that.

Swami came to the portico and then had the Dhoties brought. To the delightful amazement of all, Swami was gifting His very own brand new silk dhoties to all! Everyone felt a surge of thrill and as the Rudram chants continued to eclipse any other sound vibrations in the vicinity, Swami began to call the boys one by one and hand delivered the bundles of silken joy. As He was distributing, He opened up many of them and asked as to where the Angavastrams were. He commanded that the Angavastrams too be distributed to those that had already received the dhoties from His hands. The distribution went on for about 20 minutes after which Swami sat listening to the chants. It was a really a vibrant feeling to see the Lord amidst the divine chants.

As Swami was moving to the car, there was another chant- this time in English as all cried out, "Thank you Swami!" And then, in the perfect silence that ensued after that, Swami said in His sweet gentle voice, "I have the right to give and you have the right to take. Why the thank you?" What Divine Words.

Swami then went to the Vidyagiri stadium to check the progress of the stage being built along with the galleries being extended and the kitchen and bathrooms bathrooms for the priests.

In the evening, Swami arrived at about 4:50 pm for the darshan round. As the bhajans were on, Swami came out and sat on the stage. So many students had letters and they were showing it to Him.

Swami, in the middle of His rhythm tapping, signaled to the boys to put down their letters. But none seemed to obey. They held out with greater desperation and eagerness! After about 10 minutes, Swami called one boy and taking his letter, opened it. It was an A4 sized paper and both sides had been filled with writing. Swami had a shocked expression as He asked, "Why such big letters? Keep writing like mad people. Write only two or three lines enough!" Blessing the boy nevertheless, He once again told towards all the students, "I will not take letters if you write such big ones!" After a while, one more student was called and Swami opened it. It was again a huge one! Swami gave that, "see-I-told- you" look and signaled that He would not take letters.

At this point, some of them dropped open the letters to show Swami that theirs were small letters! Swami just smiled and after a while, He went back into the bhajan hall.

About the Sahasra Poorna Chandra Darshanam...

There is a tremendous interest that has been generated by the Sahasra PoornaChandra Darshanam that is to begin on the 15th of November. And why not? For has not the Lord Himself undertaken to perform this Yajnam?

Attached in this site is an audio file of the significance, beauty, grandeur and specialty of this historic event that we are lucky to bear witness too. Since the audio is in Telugu, given below is a translation in English. The nectarine ooze that exists in the sweet Telugu that the scholar has spoken cannot be adequately captured in any other language for each language has its own unique beauty. But am sure that the translation will be sweet once read through the language of the heart......

Attached - audio file  (15.48 mb -  please save the file on your computer before hearing the same)

Really, it is highly recommended that even if one does not understand Telugu, one must go through the audio file just to get the magnificent feel of the occasion....
