Parthi Update - Sri Ramanavami

Dear Brother,

Sairam.

The morning of Ramanavami, Swami came out for Darshan close to 9.00 am. But then, Lord Rama was born only at 12:00 noon and so there still was some time left for the celebration to commence.

Our Lord Sai Rama, radiant as ever, took a full round and went into the Bhajan Hall. The Bhajans began and a melodious flow of all Rama Bhajans filled the air. The air was surcharged with sublimal chants of Rama Namavallis!

In the evening, Swami came out at around 3:30 pm and went inside the interview room. The Hall was lit up brightly and decorated grandly. Chinese was once again the flavour of the season with the red buntings and lanterns making their appearance once again along with other floral decorations. Swami came out at around 4:30 pm. The former Vice Chancellors Prof. G.Venkataraman and Sri S.V. Giri, both shared their thoughts with all of us.

Then at 5:00 pm, Swami commenced His Divine Message. The highlights:

Rama's true name is Atma Rama

We celebrate Ramanavami every year, but to what extent have we tasted the glory of the name of the Lord.

Many changes occur in the world. But the name of Rama will never undergo any change.

Sage Vasishtha said - Ramo Vigrahavaan Dharma. What is Dharma? Follow the conscience and not the mind.

Swami then went on to narrate the sacred story of Ramayana in a very detailed manner. He started with the birth of Sita from Mother earth, went on to the breaking of the Shiva Bow during the Swayamvara, the wedding description of Rama and Sita,the breaking of the bow given by Durvasa on the way back to Ayodhya, the polluted mind of Mandara, the boons asked by Kaikeyi, the exile of Lord Rama and the responses of Mother Kausalya and Sumitra, etc.

There has been no war in Bharath in the past and there will be no war in the future too. There may be small fights because of individual differences - nothing more than that.

Bharath is a land of Rama Rajya. It is a land of Love and Peace.

Bharath is a teacher for the entire world.

All of you represent the same Rama principle. Each one of you is Rama. Your heart is the seat of Lord Rama. Think of Him continuously.

All are Rama only. Whomsoever you see, that person is Rama only.

Sai Rama represents peace and love.

Spend time in a holy manner. May your life be full of ecstasy and bliss.

Swami sat down and then we witnessed a very unique event. Swami started chanting the song "Rama Kodanda Rama...." in a prose like manner. He repeated word by word asking us to follow after Him. And then gradually He seamlessly transformed it into the song and the audience took over. It was an amazing experience! Almost like Swami teaching us the song word by word!

His Discourse was followed by Bhajans and Prasadam was distributed to all.

Swami's Message: Ugadi (Afternoon Session)

The UGADI bonanza of Sai Prema permeated well into the afternoon session as well.

If this auspicious morning witnessed the birth of a Divine Vision - that of Integrated Rural Development, this afternoon witnessed the translation of this Vision into reality. This Divine response time - is quite simply unmatched!!

Swami came out for Darshan sometime after 4:00 pm this evening. All Anantapur District devotees and many of them from nearby villages had flocked into the Kulwant Hall for Bhagawan's Darshan. The Samithi of Anantapur had organized a major rural seva programme.

Prof. Anil Kumar was summoned by Bhagawan to read out the names of the beneficiaries. As he read out the names of the ladies and gents, these beneficiaries came forward and placed their offering of a rose on the steps in front of the dais.

Who were these beneficiaries of Divine Grace? They were women, boys and girls who were identified in various villages of Anantapur District. The identification was done by a team of village senior members in every village in a united fashion. They had taken care in their selection process that those who were forlorn, orphans, very poor, widows and helpless were those selected.

These children of God were given implements to earn a livelihood. There were a variety of goodies in store for them, to help them support themselves and their families - with dignity.

Tea Kit - including Stove, vessels, trays, etc.
Weaving Machines

Truly, it was a very well thought of offering. All well and truly His Masterplan!!

This was followed by one office bearer reading out a letter of gratitude written by the inhabitants of the Anatapur Vruddajanodarana started by the Samithi.

Then came a melodious offering of songs, first by little sisters and then by elders. It was series of meaningful lyrics, melodious music suffused with love and gratitude. It touched all our hearts and so did it with His heart too.

After the programme was over and as Prasadam was being distributed to all, suddenly Swami decided to give His message.

He started with praising the Anantapur citizens for their wonderful programme and the seva activities. He said that now no one needs to have a doubt about the capabilities and potential of the Anantapur citizens. He said that this district stands out as a role model for all other districts of Andhra Pradesh.

The other highlights:

HINDU - Humanity, Individuality, Nationality, Divinity, Unity. Unity is very important.

Remember, we are Indians. Do not go by state.

A millionaire may have everything, but he has no peace of mind. Outside only pieces. Peace is only within.

Forbearance is a very important quality for the Bharatiyas. Inspite of all difficulties, one must exercise forbearance.

We are ruining our national character. This is very wrong. We are like a mighty elephant that does not realize its own strength.

Never hate anybody. If anybody hates Swami, it is like hating himself. Swami has no trace of hate at all. He is just Love, Love and Love alone.

Students, develop Divine Love. You have sacred and noble hearts at this age.

Therefore do not lose this opportunity. Once Divine Love sets in, the animal qualities will vanish.

Once Divine Love comes in, Swami will always be with you, around, you, above, you, in you, around you.

I am so happy with your programme today. You have filled My heart with joy and Bliss.

Very soon I will come to Anantapur. It is more than 10 years since I have visited Anantpur. But today because of your feelings, devotion and sentiments - I have decided to visit Anantapur.Therefore, be ready. Sing Bhajans and await My arrival!!

Swami sang the Bhajan - Bhajana Bina Sukha Shanti Nahin....

He then continued:

If women run behind jobs, who will take care of the family. If she goes around teaching others' children, who will teach her own children?

Women, respect your parents and in-laws. Take care of your family first.

Organize your homes and your family.

Today we have to save not just our bodies and homes but our Nation itself.

I am very very happy with you all today. Ask Me whatever you want and I will give.

If there is somebody who cannot afford education, tell me and I will provide the fees for the children.

Remember, you are never alone. God is always with you. Tell yourself. I am not alone. I and My God - we are always together.

This was followed by aarti and it was around 6.30 pm when Swami retired to Yajur Mandiram.

UGADI CELEBRATIONS

The Telugu New Year (Ugadi) 2007-08 is called SARVAJIT. (Telugu calendar has 60 months). Sarvajit means Victory in all fields. This year according to Swami, would be a victorious one.

Recently, Indian cricket player Laxman, along with his wife, came with their new born son for Swami’s blessings and Swami named the child as Sarvajit, probably the first one getting that name from the Lord signifying the New Year.

This morning, Sai Kulwanth Hall was 90% full and Swami came at 8:45 amidst cheers and Vedic chants. Swami took a full round and like it happens on every festival, the crowd were on their feet. The car slowly came to the verandah and Swami was seen with His most beautiful smile and as the chair landed, He signaled the boys, that He is going to walk to another chair placed on the dais. Swami slowly raised from His wheel chair and walked slowly, holding His long robe, with His left hand, pausing after 3 or 4 steps and smiling? Speaking to the boys? He slowly sat on the throne.

Swami summoned for Prof. Anil Kumar. Prof. Anil Kumar who lost his physical mother recently is back in town after almost 2 weeks, with a shaven head. Swami says something to him; He comes back to the mike.

He rendered some poems written by Devula palli Krishna Sastri, known for his imaginative and creative writing. Swami you are in mother, you are in father, how should I call you? You are in all Gods, in all temples, Swami how should I call you - you are guru of gurus, you are the indweller of devotees? Hearts, how should I call you my Lord?

He then shared his experience in 1989, Ugadi, which was presided by late Sankar dayal Sharma, President of India, who had 2 significant points Bhagwan every one longs for your darshan on Ugadi, what ever we do on this day will be repeated through out the year. We will be having your darshans through out the year. I have come here, to serve the lotus feet. He started putting the petals of rose on Swami’s feet.

Prof.Kumar expressing gratitude to Swami, shared the last moments of his mother, Swami I thank you for extending the life of my mother for 30years as she had the first stroke 30years ago. My mother, on the last day in the body, wanted Bhagwan’s picture to be kept before her and Sathya sai nathaya namah, played 24 hours, watching Bhagwan and listening to His glory she left her body while in sleep, most comfortably, in sathya sai intercontinental airlines, to His lotus feet. While leaving for Hyderabad Bhagwan said, your mother will never trouble you and thus she didn’t trouble any one of us even in her last days. I thank you for all the blessings you showered on our family?

Later Swami called upon Mr.Venkatraman, to share his views, Prof.Venkatraman, shared his views on the water projects in East & West Godavari districts and in Chennai. He then reminded that it’s exactly one year that Swami has started the mobile hospital van, (which is usually placed in Kulwanth hall in the pathway opposite to the dais) and said how useful the van was for the poor and needy.

It was 9:45am by then, the discourse table was brought and as all arrangements were being made just behind Him.... Swami had a different plan. He preferred to stand holding the railings and render His divine discourse. The boys on the stage had to run here and there to get another mike for Prof.Anil Kumar. Later the mike was brought in front of Him and Swami started His SARVAJIT year Divine Discourse..

Embodiments of Love,

THIS YEAR IS VERY SIGNIFICANT

Swami first mentioned the names of years in Telugu. Few more years are there for Akshaya year. There are 60 years between Prabhava (first year in the Telugu calendar) and akshaya (the last year in Telugu calendar).

This body has witnessed two akshayas. God incarnates in human form in the year Akshaya. This body was born in the year Akshaya This body is 83 years old now. THIS IS MOST IMPORTANT YEAR. Sarvajit represents the successive fulfillment of all our aspirations. This year will see development in ethical, spiritual, political, moral and technological fields. But one needs to be of truthful thoughts. When one’s thoughts are true no one can stop them. They are bound to be successful. This year will be a successful one for all of you. This year is most sacred. Jit means Victory. Sarvajit means.. Victory in all fields. Therefore, consider this year as very important. You will not come across any body who is failure in this New Year Sarvajit. Celebrate this New Year with all devotion and sacredness.

The main reason behind this year is Parvathi. She had undertaken penance to please Lord Shiva. It’s the day of celebration when mother Parvathi won Shiva’s heart.

Swami then narrated His visit to East Godavari and Madras some years ago. There was so much scarcity for water. There were three other devotees traveling with Swami. For every thing there is a specific time. I resolved that I should supply clean water and only then I should step in Madras. I made sure that there is pure water and surplus water to the people of Madras. I went to Madras recently. There is no scarcity of water any where (loud applauds). It’s also used for cultivation. They had everything except drinking water. Britishers stayed in Madras for more than 200 years. They had to go on horseback to distant places for water. Only rich could afford water in those days. I was very much concerned about the poor. They didn’t have money to get water from tankers.300 crores were spent for Chennai water project. All people are extremely happy now. They are drinking pure, sweet drinking water.

Human beings do not understand the divinity with in them. Correct such fools. They have enough money. But they don’t give even a coin to a beggar. I told them don’t wait for any body’s help. The creator will take care of you. What ever you want ask Me.

Always chant the prayer Loka samastha sukhino bhavanthu. Pray for every body’s peace. Even when you come across your enemy, say Hello brother how are you? Do your duty and leave the result to Me. Andhra Pradesh chief engineer Kondal Rao, went to East Godavari. They all were wondering how the water could reach such a height. It cannot be expressed .. One has to see it to believe it. People said, Swami we are close to River Godavari but never tasted a drop of water. Such people today are having access to pure water in remote villages. The other day, they came here, saw everything here, and said how lucky you are to see Swami Everyday! We are also lucky that Swami has blessed us with pure drinking water? Swami please come to our place once.

Yesterday Rama Krishna and Kondal Rao came and said Swami people are very happy and they are expecting you. I promised that I will be coming. The people are saying we will provide all the arrangements for you to reach the spot. they are extremely happy.

NEW PROGRAMME FOR RURAL UPLIFTMENT

Today is a highly sacred day. From today on wards, we will be undertaking a new project of rural project. Every village will get what they need. Even the children will be taken care. In two months all villages will have all the facilities. There is lot of pollution in towns. This is a very expensive project. But I never worry about money. Money comes and goes. Morality comes and grows. No one should raise funds on my name. I will provide all the funds for any sacred act. What ever you want come to Me. Never doubt my divinity. Never be afraid of any thing. I will TAKE CARE OF YOUR WELL BEING. Be ready, and all of you join and work together.

UNITY IS STRENGTH

In the public meeting in Madras (Chennai) which was attended by chief ministers, governors and other people, I told very clearly there shouldn’t be any differentiation of states. Don’t say I belong to this state and that state.. You belong to a nation..India. All Indians should be united. All should be united. The whole world should be united. All the classes in the society will come together during this year of Sarvajit. All will be united. There won’t be any trace of differentiation. This is going to happen very soon.

Yesterday people from Mumbai came here. All were rich people. They wanted to build a big Dwaja stamba (pillar like thing) in the middle of the sea. The light would be seen even from other countries. It is a very costly project. The whole of Maharashtra is clean but Mumbai is highly polluted. You should think to solve the pollution problem.

I bless you all to be peaceful, healthy. Let the whole world be happy. If you are happy, I am happy. I am not separate from you. Always have God in your hearts.

It was already 30 minutes since Swami was standing and now He slowly sits down?

I have come in this human form to correct the humanity. Sathya Dharma Santhi Prema and Ahimsa are the five breaths.

Referring to the Burra Katha performed by the students..

Yester day there was a fantastic performance on Eswaramma. All the characters of the play were excellently portrayed. No one has composed like this before. Swami is very happy with the students. Who is the Teacher??..The writer of the katha ..Mr.Krishna Bhaskar was called upon.... Swami then gave him clothes and spoke to him patting his shoulder. The three boys who performed the burrakatha so beautifully were also honoured by Swami. Later Swami asked the boys to sing some numbers from the Katha...

Entha goppa satvi amma Eswaramma. Kalla kapatamu erugani karunamayi talli. (So sweetly written that Swami closed His eyes and was seen immersed.. why not.. after all.. it’s the body’s mother.. Swami’s chosen mother Eswaramma.

Later sweet chapathi (oliga as it’s called in this part of state) was distributed as Prasad and it was beyond 11 am before the morning programme came to an end.

EVENING SESSION.

The evening session started at 4:40 PM. There were few thousands from Anantapur district, for Swami’s darshan. Prof.Anil Kumar took over the proceedings. . The Sai Organisation of Anantapur district, had hand picked the poorest of the poor from various villages of the district and provided them sewing machines, grinders, bicycles, push trollies and even machines to weave silk sarees. While Prof.Anil Kumar read out the names of the recipients, all of them came to the stage offered prayers to Swami and took the gifts..

After the distribution, the children of the district rendered scintillating songs on Swami which were just fantastic. Swami was seen immersed and tapping His feet to the rhythm, He even clapped once?

It was around 5:45 and just as we thought the show is finished, Swami signaled to bring the mike. As Prof.Kumar was ready .. It was confirmed that its going to be yet another discourse. Swamy preferred to sit on His chair and deliver the divine discourse?

As expected.. He started praising the Sai Organisation and the kids for their excellent work.

Swami said, you all made Me very happy. I can’t express my happiness. I am glad to see that you have come forward with this service activity. It makes Swami very happy. This is what you should be doing till your last breath. Be united. There might be some differences. . Sort them out as soon as possible. Be like a HINDU. What is HINDU? H for Humanity, I for Individuality, N for Nationality, D for Divinity and U for Unity. (loud applaud). when there is Divinity, there is Unity..

Swami then sang a Telugu verse

Parama Pavana Maina Bharatha vani yandu, sahana mannade manaku chakka danamu (in this holyland of Bharat, Patience is our strength)

Vratamulanniti yandu, vanne kanchina yatti, Ghana Sathya seelame kathina tapamu (of all the penance, adherence to truth is the highest form of penance)

Pranambu kantenu manambe Ghana manu mana desa neetini manta galipi (the country which considers character more important than ones own life)

Neti ki ichiri paradesa neetula rasi (due to rapid westernization, have forgotten this value)

Enugu etula tana balamu erugalekunnado, atula ayyinaru mana bharateeyulu nedu (just as the mighty elephant doesn’t understand its strength, the Indians are not understanding their great culture.

Understand the true human values. Ignite the God with in you. Don’t go after money. Many millionaires come to Me and say Swami we have every thing. But no peace of mind. where is this peace.. Its within you. .. Outside its Pieces.. Pieces.

In these modern times, both parents are going to work and leaving the children alone at homes. That’s why the children are being spoilt. Why do you run after money? Of what use is money when you can’t take care of your own children.

Udyogamulu cheya vanita landuru pova, griha kritya mulu teerchu grihini evaru (if women step out of the house to do jobs who will take care of the house..)

Para baluranu nerpa pathasalakega tama baluraku nerpu tallu levaru (If you go to teach somebody’s children, who will teach your child)

Don’t run after money. Ask Me I will provide every thing.. If any one doesn’t have money to send their kids to school, just ask Me and I will provide everything (loud applauds)? The people of Anantapur are very hardworking. It’s been a while since I had been to Anantapur? I WILL BE COMING TO ANANTAPUR VERY SOON.. Be ready. Start doing Bhajans and service activities?

Swami continued His divine discourse. All the beneficiaries of this evening.. remain happy.. work hard and leave the result to God.. If you need any thing.. I will provide you what ever you want. Your happiness is my happiness.

I have no desires what so ever. I have no hatred towards any body.. If anyone hates Me then they are hating themselves.. I am always happy an blissful..

Be united.. and give up bad habits.. Lead a happy life and spiritual life?

So saying Swami ended His 45 minute discourse (second one in the day). As the arathi was going on.. Soan cake was distributed as prasad. Thus ended the first day of Sarvajit year - a successful one and a year of hopes and aspirations. .

Let this year of Victory be a victorious one.. let there be peace and tranquility in the world. Let the poorest of poor get His right of His share of bread.. coincidentally its Human rights day (march 21) in places like South Africa?

Dear all

Sairam. My heartfelt greetings to you and your family on this UGADI new year day. I pray to Swami that He blesses all of us with success right through our endeavour and let this year be one of fulfillment.

I hope you al enjoyed reading the update that i sent in the morning and also the one I forwarded in the evening. Bothe of them relates to the morning program in the Kulwant hall on this holy day

As you may all wonder, why I titled this article in this way, let me take you to Kulwant Hall again for the evening session of 20/3/2007.

The evening was already fixed for Anantapur samithi devotees and Balvikas children. Swami arrived around 4:15PM. Recall, in the morning message Swami told that He is laying the foundation for rural development program.

His vajra sankalpa is such that things fructify at HIS will. The Anantapur devotees had organized the evening program in which they had identified poor people from villages all around Anantapur district for distributed some implements that can help them in their livelihood. Sewing machines, iron boxes with cart, insecticide sprayers, wet grinders, etc, were items that were distributed to various people, appropriately for helping them earn money in their life. The names of the people were announced and one by one they came front, offered their pranams to swami. Swami was really happy for the same.

Prof. Anil Kumar, in his introductory remarks, reminded one and all of what swami said in the morning and then announced about the program organized by the Anantapur people. True, HIS words were turned into action the very same day!

The Second part of their program was group singing by Balvikas children. I do not have words to describe that. What a stupendous performance! There were about 100 children. They sang four songs and each one of them was touching. It was very clear that they had put in months of practice, for there was perfect synchronization in their voice and even in their hand movements. Of the 4 songs, the third one  especially was very good, composed in raag "desh", it was soothing to the heart. Swami was listening and enjoying. He clapped at the end of each song. The children sang their heart out. I could see the sincerity, their devotion and their yearning for Swami. There were few solo songs by some elders after this.

At the end of this music program, swami spoke for some time. He praised the work of Anantpur people. He told that he was melted by the children's love and devotion. He promised them that He will come to Anantpur. He told that the Anantpur devotees have set example.

It was a great day at the end of it. The music program was one of its kind and it was indeed a treat to the ears. The evening program was over by 6:15.

Ugadi 2007 Morning and Evening Darshan

Om Sairam to most beloved children of our Lord,

Best wishes and loving Sairams on the holy occasion of Telugu New Year, Ugadi,Swami is blessing all of us with His immense compassion, love through His beautiful darshans, sparshans and sambhasans. Before I start the proceedings of Ugadi festival, I would like to appreciate the BURRA KATHA (an ancient folk presentation famous in the state of Andhra Pradesh, where there is one lead singer with tambura (Veena like musical instrumet), singing according to the tone on a theme supported by two other people), performed by final year students of Sri Sathya Sai University, on 18th March, the theme being mother Eswaramma. The katha was so fantastically done, that it brought tears in the eyes of Swami and also to the audience. The writer, Mr.Krishna Bhaskar, has scripted the whole story so imaginatively, yet very much lovely and the performance of the students was just fantastic.

The whole katha was for one hour and Swami, just before it was finished, left for the interview room blessing the perfomers.

Swami first mentioned the names of years in telugu. Few more years are there for Akshaya year. There are 60 years between Prabhava(first year in the telugu calender) and akshaya(the last year in telugu calender). This body has witnessed two akshayas. God incarnates in human form in the year Akshaya. This body was born in the year Akshaya This body is 83 years old now. THIS IS MOST IMPORTANT YEAR. Sarvajit represents the successive fulfillment of all our aspirations. This year will see development in ethical, spiritual, political, moral and technological fields. But one needs to be of truthful thoughts. When one's thoughts are true no one can stop them. They are bound to be successful. This year will be a successful one for all of you. This year is most sacred. Jit means Victory. Sarvajit means.. victory in all fields. Therefore, consider this year as very important. You will not come across any body who is failure in this new year Sarvajit. Celebrate this new year with all devotion and sacredness. The main reason behind this year is Parvathi.she had undertaken penance to please Lord Shiva. It's the day of celebration when mother Parvathi won Shiva's heart.

Swami then narrated His visit to East Godavari and Madras some years ago. There was so much scarcity for water. There were three other devotees traveling with Swami. For every thing there is a specific time. I resolved that I should supply clean water and only then I should step in Madras. I made sure that there is pure water and surplus water to the people of Madras. I went to Madras recently. There is no scarcity of water any where (loud applauds). Its also used for cultivation. They had everything except drinking water. Britishers stayed in Madras for more than 200 years. They had to go on horseback to distant places for water. Only rich could afford water in those days. I was very much concerned about the poor. They didn't have money to get water from tankers.300 crores were spent for Chennai water project. All people are extremely happy now. They are drinking pure , sweet drinking water. Human beings are not understanding the divinity with in them. Correct such fools. They have enough money . But they don't give even a coin to a beggar. I told them don't wait for any body's help. The creator will take care of you. What ever you want ask Me.

Always chant the prayer Loka samastha sukhino bhavanthu. Pray for every body's peace. Even when you come across your enemy, say Hello brother how are you? Do your duty and leave the result to Me. Andhra Pradesh chief engineer Kondal Rao, went to East Godavari. They all were wondering how the water could reach such a height. It cannot be expressed .. one has to see it to believe it. People said, Swami we are close to River Godavari but never tasted a drop of water. Such people, today are having access to pure water in remote villages  The other day, they came here, saw everything here, and said, how lucky you are you to see Swami everyday! We are also lucky that Swami has blessed us with pure drinking water? Swami please come to our place once.

Yesterday Rama Krishna and Kondal Rao came and said Swami people are very happy and they are expecting You. I promised that I will be coming. The people are saying We will provide all the arrangements for you to reach the spot. they are extremely happy.

NEW PROGRAMME FOR RURAL UPLIFTMENT

Today is a highly sacred day. From today on wards, we will be undertaking a new project of rural project. Every village will get what they need. Even the children will be taken care. In two months all villages will have all the facilities?. There is lot of pollution in towns. This is a very expensive project. But I never worry about money. Money comes and goes. Morality comes and grows. No one should raise funds on my name. I will provide all the funds for any sacred act. What ever you want come to Me. Never doubt my divinity. Never be afraid of any thing. I will TAKE CARE OF YOUR WELL BEING. Be ready, and all of you join and work together.

UNITY IS STRENGTH

In the public meeting in Madras (Chennai) which was attended by chief ministers, governors and other people, I told very clearly there shouldn't be any differentiation of states. Don't say I belong to this state and that state.. You belong to a nation..India.. All Indians should be United? All should be united. The whole world should be united. All the classes in the society will come together during this year of Sarvajit. All will be united. There wont be any trace of differentiation. This is going to happen very soon.

I bless you all to be peaceful, healthy. Let the whole world be happy. If you are happy, I am happy. Iam not separate from you. Always have God in your hearts.

It was already 30 minutes since Swami was standing and now He slowly sits down?

I have come in this human form to correct the humanity. Sathya Dharma Santhi Prema and Ahimsa are the five breaths.

Refferring to the Burra Katha performed by the students..

Yester day there was a fantastic performance on Eswaramma. All the characters of the play were excellently portrayed. No one has composed like this before?. Swami is very happy with the students. Who is the Teacher?..the writer of the katha ..Mr.Krishna Bhaskar was called upon.... Swami then gave him clothes and spoke to him patting his shoulder.. The three boys who performed the burrakatha so beautifully were also honoured by Swami. later Swami asked the boys to sing some numbers from the Katha..

Entha goppa satvi amma Eswaramma?. Kalla kapatamu erugani karunamayi talli?. ( so sweetly written that Swami closed His eyes and was seen immersed.. why not.. after all.. it's the body's mother.. Swami's chosen mother Eswaramma?.

Later sweet chapathi ( oliga as its called in this part of state) was distributed as prasad and it was beyond 11am before the morning programme came to an end?..

EVENING SESSION.

The evening session started at 4:40 PM. There were few thousands from Anantapur district, for Swami's darshan. Prof. Anil Kumar took over the proceedings. Swami was seen immersed and tapping His feet to the rhythm, He even clapped once?

It was around 5:45 and just as we thought the show is finished, Swami signaled to bring the mike. As Prof.Kumar was ready .. it was confirmed that its going to be yet another discourse. Swamy preferred to sit on His chair and deliver the divine discourse.

As expected.. He started praising the Sai Organisation and rasi(due to rapid westernization, have forgotten this value)

Enugu etula tana balamu erugalekunnado, atula ayyinaru mana bharateeyulu nedu (just as the mighty elephant doesn't understand its strength, the Indians are not understanding their great culture..

Embodiments of Love,

Understand the true human values.. Ignite the God with in you. Don't go after money?. Many millionaires come to Me and say Swami we have every thing.. but no peace of mind.. where is this peace.. Its within you. .. outside its pieces..pieces?

In this modern times, both parents are going to work and leaving the children alone at homes.. That's why the children are being spoilt. Why do you run after money.. Of what use is money when you can?t take care of your own children..

Udyogamulu cheya vanita landuru pova, griha kritya mulu teerchu grihini evaru (if women step out of the house to do jobs who will take care of the house..)

Para baluranu nerpa pathasalakega tama baluraku nerpu tallu levaru (if you go to teach somebody?s children, who will teach your child)

Don't run after money.. Ask Me I will provide every thing.. If any one doesn't have money to send their kids to school, just ask Me and I will provide everything (loud applauds) the people of Anantapur are very hardworking. Its been a while since I had been to Anantapur? I WILL BE COMING TO ANANTAPUR VERY SOON.. Be ready.. start doing Bhajans and service activities?

Swami then sang Hari Bhajana Bina Bhajan as we all joined in ecstasy

Swami continued His divine discourse?. All the beneficiaries of this evening.. remain happy.. work hard and leave the result to God?.If you need any thing.. I will provide you what ever you want? Your happiness is my happiness.

I have no desires what so ever. I have no hatred towards any body.. If anyone hates Me then they are hating themselves.. I am always happy an blissful..

Be united.. and give up bad habits.. Lead a happy life and spiritual life?

So saying Swami ended His 45 minute discourse (second one in a day) .. as the arathi was going on.. Soan cake was distributed as prasad. Thus ended the first day of Sarvajit year? a successful one and a year of hopes and aspirations..

Let this year of Victory be a victorious one.. let there be peace and tranquility in the world. Let the poorest of poor get His right of His share of bread.. coincidentally its Human rights day (march 21) in places like South Africa?

Wish you a very very happy and prosperous New Year - Ugadi Shubhashayagalu!!

The Kulwant Hall was decorated today just as it was on the Chinese New Year day. Red red everywhere, lovely floral decorations. Swami came for Darshan at half past eight. The Hall was packed to its full capacity. Swami came and sat on the dais. The proceedings began with a talk by Prof. Anil Kumar (MAK). He quoted some poems of a great Andhra poet in praise of Lord Sai. He was followed by Prof. G. Venkataraman who bathed us in the glory of Swami's water projects, focusing especially on the Godavari water project, where he had visited a few days ago to capture on camera a few glimpses of this massive humanitarian project undertaken by Swami.

Then Swami got up and He held the brass railings in front of Him as He sometimes does while giving Darshan. He asked for the mike. The people around tried to arrange a table but Swami wanted to speak just that way. It was great to see Swami giving a Discourse like this. We could see His full form and the mike stand was placed on the step in front of the brass railing.

The highlights of Bhagawan's Discourse follows:

This year is called Sarvajit - the most important among all the 60 years in the cycle. Anything you take up in this year will become successful - but of course you must have noble thoughts and intentions.

All forms of victory will be yours in this year.

Nobody who takes up noble tasks will face failure in this year.

In this Sarvajit year Parvati, undertook strict penance and won the Grace of Lord Eswara.

Avataars always come onto earth with a human form in the Akshaya year.

Swami too came onto this earth in the Akshaya year.

Then Swami spoke at length about the Chennai water project and how it all started when Swami visited the Red Hills in Madras for the first time and found the whole tank empty!

My happiness lies in everybody's happiness.

All of you must sincerely pray - Lokaa Samasta Sukhino Bhavantu.

Then Swami elaborated on the Godavari project which was touched upon by Prof. Venkataraman in his talk. Swami explained how the people living up the hills were not able to get even a drop of water from the Godavari flowing below. During Monsoon it was too dangerous to get down and during other seasons even if they would go down, lifting the water to the hill top was an uphill task. However, now thanks to Swami's water project, all these people are basking in the glory of the Godavari sweet, pure water.

This year we are going to take up a new project - Village Works Project.

We must go to each and every village. In each village, we must examine every hut and ensure that it is clean both inside and outside.

The children must be kept clean and healthy.

Everybody must have water. Water is very important. We can live without food for a few days but not without water.

This may cost crores of rupees but we have no fear about money.

Money comes and goes but help offered to the poor will be there for ever.

Students, Adults, Businessmen all must join together in this effort.

Only when you control your senses you become worthy of serving the world.

Every village should have all the necessary facilities.

Students - you all must join in this endeavour. My wish is that we must cover all the villages and complete this task before the coming Ugadi!!

Just painting the wall of a temple in a village cannot be called service. The whole village must be kept clean.

If all of us stand united the whole world can be transformed in a trice!!

However, no one should collect funds in the name of this project. Why worry, I am here and I will take care of all the financial needs.

In Mumbai, a Dvaja Stamba of Swami is being erected in the middle of the sea. It is so tall that it could be seen from all over. The Sai Ram tower is being built by Mumbai devotees as an offering to Swami.

My only wish is that the whole world should be happy.

This year there will not be shortage of any kind for anybody.

I have come here to correct all of humanity and lead you along the right path. I will forgive all your shortcomings and see to it that you walk on the right path.

Very soon, the whole world will get united!

Swami then started speaking about His childhood days and the greatness of Subamma - His foster mother. He narrated the episode wherein He brings back Subamma to life in order to pour water into her mouth as promised by Him.

Bhagawan said that the promise given by God will always be kept up - at any cost.

Within a few months all villages should become clean and healthy. I am not saying that we should make them like towns. The worst state of towns and cities is well known today.

After this Swami recollected the Burra Katha performed day before yesterday. He praised the three students who performed the same and their teacher. He felicitated them with clothes. Obattu was served as Prasadam to one and all. An announcement was made that another Prasadam will be served in the Canteen too.

It was 11.15 am by the time Swami retired to Yajur Mandiram.

Prasanthi News - Final PG Gratitude program

Final Year PG students Give their Heart to the Lord....

It was another beautiful day here in Prasanthinilayam. The final  year Post graduate students were ready with their gratitude program  and Swami had given them permission the previous day itself for this. 

As soon as swami came for darshan He took a round in chair among the  students and devotees. After so many days, it was nice to have the  Lord amongst us. Then He settled down on the dais and asked the PG boys to commence the program. The program was filled with varieties, speeches, songs, skits, dance, etc. Swami was listening and seeing  all with keen interest. The students portrayed their feelings, their  love, their gratitude and their belonging to the Lord.

A scene from  Sankaracharya's life, a dance and the display of pot-breaking ceremony (the one that is usually done in hostel on krishnashtami) was excellently depicted. As they finished showing the pot-breaking ceremony, one boy told swami, "as the gopalas gave their shoulders to Lord Krishna, we your students give ourselves to your feet".

Then the students came with a very jovial skit. The skit was introduced in the  following way: One student got up and told "Swami, every time we do anything, be it grama seva, sports meet, etc, we do it because we want a smile from your face. Similarly, what ever you do, you ensure that you see a smile on our face. Today we want to put a skit in front of you so that we can make you smile".

After this intro, the skit began. It was a story made up by the students here, in which the gods in the heavens have lost their smile. Reason, it seems many things are missing there. People are missing! Mother Lakshmi sent a complaint to Brahma that brother moon is missing. Agni deva is missing. The yama vahana is missing, the army is missing, and these are being discussed in the heavens. Brahma, narada, yama, and vayu deva are wondering about this. Then narada tells that it is because one mayavi has taken over the world and he is creating havoc.

Solution? Narada says, only prayer, prayer to Lord vishnu. The skit was in telugu and i am finding it very difficult to translate but this is kind of an essence. But beautiful dialogues studded with poetry was the highlight of the skit. So, all these people start praying and Vishnu appears. He tells, "oh foolish people, it is not that some mayavi has taken away the wealth of the world. You all please note that all attributes have come together as an avatar, Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, the agni being his robe, the moon being his face, etc.. " The description of Swami's beauty and the  attributes in telugu connecting the various elements was very good.

It was really a very jovial skit, but the point was driven home very  clearly and beautifully. Swami was laughing and enjoying it. Towards the end of the program, two boys came and requested swami to light a candle. Then with that lit candle, every single student lit their candles and it was a wonderful sight to see. The climax was the banner that opened up praying that Swami should come to hostel. It was a good show and as all boys shouted that Swami should come to hostel, Swami did tell "I will come".

Program ended with Bhajans and aarathi.

Divine Manifestation of the Sarva Dharma Symbol

One afternoon The Late Sri N.Kasturi and Sri Indulal Shah were doing  Pada Seva of Bhagawan in a room on the first floor of Prasanthi Mandir.

They noticed Bhagawan was drawing a sketch on a piece of paper. After  some time, He handed over that piece of paper to Sri Kasturi. To their  surprise, they saw the symbols of five religions drawn in a circle  while in the center there was the back portion of Bhagawan's own head mostly depicting its matchless hair.

Sri Kasturi asked, "Swami, why the back of the face and not the front?"

Baba explained, "So that you may not keep the paper in the safe and do  nothing about it!" Bhagawan then clarified the point. "This will be the  symbol of the Sai Organisation-five religions in the circle with the  symbol of Prashanti viz, the Lotus in the centre." This was the birth  of the Sarva Dharma symbol, which we all adore in every Bhajan Center,
display at every function and exhibit whenever we intend to carry the Sai message.

Sarvajit - Success and Fulfilment

Dear all

Prasanthi Nilayam welcomed the Holi new year with all festivity and colour. The fully decorated Kulwant Hall, with all kinds of festoons, garlands, and many other things was filled with devotees eager to  have the darshan of the lord on this Holy New year - UGADi day. There were just not mango leaves but mangoes real hanging adding to the  beauty and auspiciousness. Many silver lamps, small in size, were  placed at regular intervals in between which there were silver poorna  kumbam, carrying mango leaves and coconut. The decoration on the  stage was marvelous, attractive and visibly pleasant to the eyes.

The background music played by professional Nadaswaram group lent an enchanting time till the Lord arrived.

The Lord arrived at 8:45 am, and took a round as usual. getting down at the portico, HE directly came out to the dais and sat there, blessing one and all. He called for Prof Anil Kumar and wanted him to  speak. Prof Anil Kumar gave a beautiful speech, starting off in  telugu. He quoted fluently from one telugu poet who had written several poems on Swami. He also narrated his personal experience regarding his mother's passing away, wherein he told that Swami had extended his mother's life for 30 long years and recently when she passed away, it was in her sleep without giving trouble to anyone.

Prof also paid his pranams at the Lotus feet of the Lord on behalf of all, and told that to be in the Divine presence on the new year is a great boon and that the whole year will be spent in useful way.

Next, Swami called Prof G Venkataraman to speak. GV narrated his experience about the mobile hospital that is being operated by the Central trust. He highlighted the yeomen service that is being rendered silently by this mobile hospital, which is actually a bus that is equipped with many facilities and a team of dedicated doctors. It goes from village to village, treating the patients and giving health and comforts to one and all. Highlighting further on Swami's water projects, GV narrated his experience of his recent visit to Godavari districts, where Swami's has executed a water project. GV recalled the gratitude, the contentment, the love and joy of the poor people their in remote areas of that district, mentioning that such qualities are now being forgotten in city lives. He particularly mentioned about one tribal lady sacrificing an acre of land for Swami's project which she gave away spontaneously when she came to know that swami is trying to get water for them all. When asked what else they want, many villagers told that Swami has given water and they don't need anything else!

After these two speeches, Swami started his divine discourse. The first thing He mentioned was the names of the 60 years starting from prabava, vibava, etc. He then went on to highlight the goodness of this year by the name SARVAJIT:

Sarvajit is an important year for all to recognize the inner divinty.

Sarvajit indicates successful fulfilment of all ambitions

Sarvajit will take us forward in all fields; but one should have right thoughts.

This year is an year of success, and all will be happy and taste success in all walks of life, provided their thoughts are in the right direction

Swami then went on to tell about the other years and He mentioned about the year Akshaya. Divine incarnations always take place in the year Akshaya and Swami recalled that he was also born in Akshaya.

Swami narrated a story the purport of which is that Mother Parvathi was the one who named this year Sarvajit when she won over the heart of Lord Shiva. Then Swami went on to tell about water projects and so many other things and came to a point that it is our duty to give basic facilities to all villages. He then made a declaration that on this day Swami is laying the foundation for rural development. He wanted all to join hands in uplifting the poor people in villages and providing the basic facilities, making them live a healthy life. He told that He finds bliss in the happiness of all.

Swami also mentioned the the life breathes are just not the conventional prana, apana, vyana, udhana, samana... but something more important. The primary factor in life should be Sathya, from which Dharma follows. Then comes Shanthi and Prema . Swami wanted that the whole world should be happy. Further He narrated some childhood day incidents, about Karnam subbamma, etc.

At the end of the discourse, Swami praised the three boys who performed Burra Katha two days back. The theme was on Easwaramma.

Swami praised them by saying that they performed very well, and it was so touching. He called for the teacher who taught the Burra Katha, and also the students, gave them some gifts of love, padnamaskar, and blessed them profusely.

Prasadam was distributed and swami also got it announced that in canteen special prasadam will be given.

It was a great morning on the happy and holy occasion of Ugadi. The morning session ended at 11:15 after swami patiently blessed all the cards made by so many primary school children.

This morning the Ugadi (Telugu New Year) celebrations began at 8:00 am in the morning. Sai Kulwant Hall was filled with devotees waiting to get a glimpse of Swami on this first day of Telugu New Year. Swami arrived into Sai Kulwant Hall soon after that giving all a very good darshan.

As part of the morning celebrations Swami gave a discourse, in which Swami talked about coming year. Swami said that this coming year will be a good one for all of us. Swami also talked about some of the things that happened in Chennai and also about the future trip to parts of Andhra Pradesh. No specific time or date were given. Morning event lasted till 11:00 am. After the event prasadam was distributed in Sai Kulwant Hall, more sweets are being distributed in the canteen

17 MARCH 2007 in Prasanthi Nilayam......

Om Sairam to the noble hearted members of my beloved Sai Family, The atmosphere in Puttaparthi is hot and infact very hot? but the good news is that the Darshans are just so soothing and cool.

Swami out of immense mercy is granting beautiful darshans and thus rejoicing the bunch of devotees assembling every day. If one would ignore the mercury level touching almost 40 degree Celsius this in fact is just the BEST time if any one longs for quiet and close darshans.. There is not much rush these days, as even to a TOUGH LUCK person will find himself at least in second line as this being the exam season for students in India and for overseas devotees it's the scorching sun.

This afternoon as we all were waiting for Swami, here came a brand new, large water tanker with Sri Sathya Sai Water Supply written on it. There were taps on the rear end and on the sides. This is for the first time, that I saw a Large lorry, driving into Kulwant hall. It had to take so many turns and at last settled facing Swami's residence for Swami's blessings.. After everything was settled, Swami came out from His residence at 3:15 pm. As the car got close to the tanker, Mr. Sreenivas, went to Swami and spoke to Swami and was seen describing the tanker and Swami blessed two coconuts, which were later broken. Later the car moved ahead towards the gents side. Swami was cheerful and was blessing all the devotees even though He didn't take any letters.

Swami later came down the dais and He preferred to spend more time with the students. He blessed all the birthday boys seated on the right side of the dais, as we all thought He would come towards gents lines, He took a right turn and went to the verandah. After talking to some elderly devotees, Swami was wheeled towards the ladies? side, the happiness of the ladies knew no bounds. After blessing the lady devotees, Swami took a right turn and went back to the dais, skipping the gents rows. Swami, as He came on the dais, this time preferred to walk, He slowly raised from His wheel chair, with His beautiful shiny smile, walked on the dais, as the devotees clapped out of joy. Swami cheerfully acknowledged by raising His hand. At one time, He walked few steps without any support, slightly, holding His long robe with His left hand and waving His right hand. It was a beautiful sight and made us feel very very happy.

A play by the final year post graduate boys, who would be finishing their course in 14 days, was scheduled this afternoon and all of us were eagerly looking forward to that. Swami slowly sat on His throne placed on the dais and as the clock stroked 4 Swami signaled to stop veda chanting. The program titled "Sparks of Love", a bundle of speeches, dances, songs, music and plays started at 4pm.

The whole program was a tribute, thanks giving to Swami, for all that He did, the out going students, for His love, encouragement, forgiveness and blessings. The whole program was an emotional one, as every one were feeling the pain of separation. Each boy from the group, stood up and thanked Swami for every thing, in their own mother tongues. When one boy, spoke in Kannada and at the end, said, Swami bless us so that we will have all the strength and courage to face the world, Swami very kindly raised His hands and blessed the boy. There was a 5 minute dance program by the boys, the boys, many of whom knew that this would be their last chance, and also the pain of separation was clearly visible in both Swami's face and the students.

There was another boy who spoke in Tamil, another one in Malayalam, Bengali, Oriya, Telugu and English. When one boy, raised and said, Swami, how can we forget the days of Grama Seva, the days of your guidance during sports meet, the Shivarathri night, the festivals celebrated, the discourses you delivered for us? ... as the boy was saying all this Swami was nodding His head, as if saying yes.. yes.. yes.

One boy, in Kannada said, Swami we want you.. all our life.. and Swami signaled with His hand, Take me. I am yours The whole program was so touchy, that even the audience, felt the pain of the students. A bunch of boys, then portrayed the Krishna and gopalas play where Krishna climbs on the gopalas and grabs the butter pot.

Later there was a play by the students who were dressed as Narada, Brahma, Shiva and Vishnu.

Fill your Heart with Love and Faith

God is always full and complete; to reach such infinite fullness you must have full faith. When God is full and complete and you are not full and complete, there cannot develop the necessary binding force that will hold you and God together. To reach the full and complete love that is God, you must also have a full heart, full of love and faith. If, instead, you are filled with doubts, you will undermine this pure principle of love which is your true nature; your doubts will blemish your heart and distance you from the omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent Lord, who is aware of your every thought.

Whatever thoughts you have, fill them with him. Think of him with a full heart saturated with love and faith; then you will certainly reach him. All the noble human qualities are already there in their fullness in every human being, but very few people are making any effort to become aware of them. They are wasting their time in pursuing only outer activities in the world. But you must also engage in inner activities which will help you to reach your goal. For example, you perform your worship using external rituals, but you must perform your worship internally, as well, offering God the flowers of your heart. Then there will be unity and harmony in your life. Once you achieve such unity in all your activities, both inner and outer, your life becomes sanctified and you will experience fulfillment in whatever you do.
