For Cosmic Oneness ....

II Samastha Lokaah Sukhino Bhavantu II

Bhagawan is the heart of the Cosmos…the Brahmand…and we live in His heart…together we form His heartbeats…it is only natural for the beats to be in sync with each other…Let us do it this for Bhagawan…for the Brahmand…for our Bhagawan and our Bhagawan’s Brahmand…for we are forever an intrinsic part of the Brahmand…and the Brahmand from Bhagawan is never apart.

Let us spread the message of our Lord,
Let us live the message of our Lord,
Let us live only to please our Lord…

Every moment let us surrender selflessly at the Lotus Feet of our Beloved God…Let us glow and gush forth as instruments of compassion of the Creator for His creation…

Most certainly this is what Bhagawan intended for me and you -

Note:

It has been customary to sing

Lokah Samastha Sukhino Bhavanthu

at the end of some devotion sessions. This mantra has been chanted three times after bhajans in Prasanthi Nilayam for years and years. It means, "let all the people in the world be happy" (Lokah has two meanings in Sanskrit, one: people; and the other: world).

In late summer 2008, Bhagawan directed that, hence forward, we should chant

Samastha Lokah Sukhino Bhavanthu

which means “Let all the worlds be happy,” (and thereby all the beings in the worlds). The earlier mantra referred only to this world. The new mantra refers to all the worlds and is broader in outlook

The external world termed as Prapancha is made of five elements e.g. Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Sound (in order from gross to subtle) and cognised by the five human senses comprising of sight, smell, sound, taste and touch. Sookshma Prapancha termed as ‘subtle world’ or ‘subtle dimension’ is beyond the understanding of the five senses, mind and intellect. In my humble opinion, Swami gave us a hint to think and grow beyond physical dimension by changing the universal Vedic prayer from ‘Loka Samastha Sukhino Bhavanthu‘ to ‘Samastha Loka Sukhino Bhavanthu‘ some time back. No one questioned Swami (including those who doubt the Subtle form now) about why we are praying for those Lokas (other planes of existence) which can’t be seen with our physical eyes.

Just as we need to tune in our TV antenna to receive both audio and video, we need to tune in our inner faculties through meditation and other spiritual practices to develop our receptiveness (often described as sixth sense, the creative faculty of the mind dealing with intuition).

From Beloved Mother Sai's Blog.....

If we have to live a life that pleases You, sweet Mother Sai,
We earnestly need to chant: ‘Samastha Lokaah Sukhino Bhavantu’,
Peace for all beings,
For all are dear to You,
Peace for all beings,
For all belong to You,
This prayer pleases You immensely,
So let us chant it incessantly,
For life should be lived to please only You…
‘Samastha Lokaah Sukhino Bhavantu’,
Embraces the five elements and the five human values too,
Beyond religion, caste, colour, creed,
Country, planet, space and time,
Selfless and true,
‘Samastha Lokaah Sukhino Bhavantu’,
Peace for all in the Universe,
For all belong to You…

The God of Cricket Sachin Tendulkar with His personal God and Master, Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba ‪#‎sachintendulkar‬ ‪#‎sathyasaibaba‬

When the Lord enters one’s life, all successes, spiritual and worldly alike - seem to come by, too. And that is what seemed to happen in Sachin’s career.

The year 1998 proved to be the most successful year in Sachin’s entire ODI career spanning nearly 24 years. That year alone he made 1894 runs with the help of 9 centuries, a world record ...to date. He also made it a point to visit Swami and have his darshan whenever an opportunity presented itself. It was during one such visit to Swami’s ashram in Whitefield, Bengaluru, that he was blessed with an interview. During a short chat what he revealed was simply amazing.

“Swami knows a lot about Cricket," Sachin said, “He told me something that will remain etched in my mind.”

Sachin revealed that Swami had told him that he was getting out unnecessarily because of his anger which led him to ‘go after’ a particular bowler. Swami advised him not to concentrate on the bowler but concentrate instead on the ball alone. That seemed like a whiff of fresh and fragrant air for Sachin and the world knows how meticulously he went about demolishing opposition teams around the world with much greater consistency and perseverance after that.

Sachin has a very special place in his heart for his Swami. That is what made Him visit Swami amidst his frenetic schedule too. When India had to play West Indies in an international ODI match, Sachin pulled out time to visit and pay homage to Swami who was in Chennai to attend the Chennai Citizen’s Conclave and conduct the 10-day Athi Rudra Mahayajna. He offered six cricket balls and a bouquet of flowers to Swami.

What should be our top priority in life? Bhagawan gives us a profound message today using an example from Mahabharata.

Without faith in God, all other possessions are of no avail. Take the example of Duryodhana, who was the lord of an empire. Both Duryodhana and Arjuna went to Krishna before the Kurukshetra battle. Duryodhana wanted only Krishna's army on his side. Arjuna was content to have Krishna alone ...on his side. This was enough to secure for him victory in the war. All the armies Duryodhana had were of no avail. Duryodhana relied on the clever strategies of his uncle, Shakuni. He had no faith in the divine intelligence of Krishna. The lesson that everyone must learn from this episode is that they must rely, not on their cleverness but on the guidance of their higher intelligence, which transcends ordinary reason and thinking. They should seek the support of That which sustains everything in creation. Place your trust in God.

Why should we accord the primary importance to Divine Love in our lives? Bhagawan lovingly gives us a profound message today.

There is no love between the husband and the wife before they are married. There is no love between the mother and the child before the birth of the child. The son, though he loved his mother with all his heart, flings her body onto the burning pyre and consigns her to the flames wi...thout any mercy after death. How can such love be called true Love? All such relationships can at best be termed attachment and not Love. Attachments come in the middle and pass off in the middle. But Divine Love existed even before birth and will last after death. Attachments are like passing clouds that sail away quickly. True Love is uncontaminated, unsoiled, unadulterated, unpolluted, eternal, perennial, pure and unsullied. It is only Divine Love that is not tainted by selfishness and self-interest, and exists before birth and lasts after death. All other kinds of love are stained by selfishness.

Can you guess who are these Cricket Legends with Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba? ‪#‎cricket‬ ‪#‎unitycup‬ ‪#‎indiancricketteam‬

When They Played At The Lord's Playground...

THE SRI SATHYA SAI UNITY CUP

...

It all started on a day when Sunil Gavaskar and Alvin Kallicharan were speaking to Bhagavan. Sunil is, of course, a cricket legend while Kalli is a test star of distinction, hailing from the West Indies. Both are Bhagavan's devotees, and have been coming to Swami for many years.

On that day, both of them told Swami, "Baba, we see devotees doing so much for you all the time. We too love you very much and want to serve you. But cricket is our profession, and we cannot obviously serve you like doctors and teachers do. So, please guide us and tell us in what way we can serve you, because we both are very keen to do so."

Bhagavan smiled and said, "Well, why don't you arrange a cricket match for Me?"

The two cricket stars simply could not believe what they heard. "Was Baba really serious?" They wondered.

Soon they discovered that Swami was not joking but meant precisely what He said. And that was how the idea for the Sri Sathya Sai Unity Cup, a one-day international cricket match between India XI and the World XI, was born.

Why is earnestness and love for God, supreme in spiritual path? Bhagawan lovingly explains to us their purpose.

Geetha says: Shraddhavan labhate jnanam (The persevering seeker secures wisdom). This means that without perseverance and earnestness, no success can be achieved. You must develop interest and devote attention to the path shown by elders and to the knowledge taught by scriptures. You must pay heed... to what the elders say. If you have no earnestness (shraddha) you cannot achieve anything, despite your worldly qualifications. Despite ages of evolution and considerable progress in scientific knowledge, people are unable to make significant progress towards the Divine because of absence of strenuous striving in the spiritual sphere. Study of the scriptures and reciting God's names may be good acts in themselves. But if there is no love for God from within, which is the basis of all sadhana (spiritual discipline), any amount of recitation, listening or reading of scriptures are of no use.

- Divine Discourse, Feb 5, 1984.

Love of God is the surest means for achieving perennial, Divine Bliss. - BABA

SRI SATHYA SAI BABA MATERIALISED THE PEARL NECKLACE THAT MOTHER SITA GIFTED TO HANUMAN

Rama Navami is the festival that marks the advent of the Lord as Rama. Many years, the festival occurs when Swami is in Kodai. On such occasions, the festival becomes a truly memorable day for the students. On one such Rama Navami day, Swami materialised the pearl necklace that Sita gifted to Hanuman at the time of Rama's Coronation.

Rama was distributing various gifts to members in the as...sembly but somehow, He seemed to skip Hanuman. Sita was troubled by this apparent indifference; how could such a loyal one like Hanuman be overlooked on an occasion like this? So, she whispered to Rama that Hanuman should not be forgotten. Rama whispered back that Hanuman was way above material gifts. Sita was not quite satisfied by this reply; so she took out a pearl necklace that she was wearing and offered it to Hanuman.

While receiving the necklace, Hanuman gave it a suspicious look. He then placed the necklace near one of his ears as if to check whether the individual pearls were emitting some sound. He appeared to examine every pearl in the necklace, and once in a while, he would bite a pearl. Mother Sita was shocked by this behaviour. Was Hanuman proving that, after all, he was a monkey? She demanded an explanation from Hanuman for what he was doing. With great humility Hanuman replied, "Mother, for me the Name of Rama is supreme. An object is worthless if it does not resound with the Name of Rama. Some of these pearls are not emitting the proper sound and so I am chewing them up." Sita was neither convinced nor amused and tersely remarked, "Pearls do not emit sound." Hanuman replied, "Everything that is saturated with the Rama Principle will always chant the Name of Rama. Let me demonstrate." So saying, Hanuman plucked a hair from his body and offered it to Rama. When Sita took it near her ear, she could clearly hear the chant of Rama's Name! This was the way Hanuman proved to the world how intense true devotion really is.

After narrating the story and materialising the necklace, Swami passed it around and asked the boys to carefully examine it. Sure enough many pearls had teeth marks! After everyone present there had had a look, Swami made the necklace disappear!

What is the critical error we do today and how can we correct it? Bhagawan lovingly gives us a powerful thought to ponder upon.

Everyone must face the consequences of their misdeeds, one day or other, because every action has a reaction, resound and reflection. The awareness of this fact on the part of one and all will bring abundant peace and harmony. Human beings are endowed with endless strength. Your bod...y is indeed a massive generator. Your face is like a television-set, with vivid expressions. But human beings have lost their value in the world today. It is human beings who lend value to a diamond. It is a human being who unearths a raw stone and turns it into a priceless diamond after processing and polishing it. Though people have been able to transform a cheap raw stone into an invaluable diamond, they themselves choose to have no intrinsic value in spite of contributing much to the value-addition of the diamond.

What is the primary responsibility of every parent? What important lesson they must impart to their children? Bhagawan, our Loving God, kindly explains to us today.

Whenever the children go astray, wittingly or unwittingly, parents must quickly correct their faults and bring them to the righteous path. The obligations of parents do not end with providing food, schooling and knowledge of worldly matters. The children should also be provided with right values. They should not be made to think that the acquisition of wealth is the be-all and end-all of life. Wealth will not accompany anyone when they leave the world. Wealth is necessary only for meeting your essential needs. Too much wealth is an embarrassment like an oversized shoe. Too little of it is likely to be painful, like a tight fitting shoe. So, it is desirable to have only that amount of wealth that is adequate for your basic needs. It is deplorable that today, in the mad pursuit of money, people are forgetting all human qualities.

Why should we express our gratitude to the Divine everyday? Bhagawan gives us a wake-up call today.

Can any high-powered bulb equal the matchless brilliance of the Sun? Can any pump in the world supply as much water as we get from a heavy downpour? Can any fan in the world give as much coolness as given by the Wind-God? The gifts of God are abundant, bountiful and beyond compare. We pay tax for many facili...ties we enjoy, like water-tax to the corporation, tax to the electricity department for providing power, etc. But what taxes are we paying to the great Lord who provides us with endless power, light and wind? When we pay tax to the different departments for services provided, is it not our duty to pay the tax of gratitude to God? We do not show any gratitude to God who has gifted us the five elements, which never get depleted. In fact, our foremost duty should be to express our gratitude to God, who gives us so much in endless abundance.

HOW MY LIFE GOT ITS VALUE
- A conversation with Mrs. Carole Alderman

I saw him lose control of the steering wheel; the car started to zigzag and we were just about to hit a concrete wall at 60 miles an hour. We were within a few metres of it. Then, into my head came the words from the book, uttered by Sai Baba, “By whatever name you call on Me, I will be with you.” So I said, “Sai Baba, I’m a Christian, Lord Jesus Christ have mercy upon me.” I got into a crash position and I ...thought, “I’m going to die now.”

Are some lives more purposeful than others? - TALK

There come times when we feel like a blade of grass in the garden of Eden - absolutely #insignificant and #useless. We look around at others whose lives seem to be much more purposeful than our own. But each and every life has a #purpose in God's plan as Dmitri's experience with #SathyaSai shows. Dmitri definitely became a squirrel in the Lord's bridge building.

The feelings of uselessness stem from a lack of faith and self-confidence which are not contradictory to each other. Faith is the confidence in the God outside while self-confidence is the faith in the God within as explained beautifully by Swami through the sparrow's story. But such faith can come only when one is not a part-time devotee who gets only 'daily wages'.

Ultimately, the Truth of oneness of purpose of every life sets to rest this debate comprehensively. This is a #talk delivered in the Satsangh Hall at Prasanthi Nilayam on 21st March, 2016.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, FRIDAY, MARCH 25, 2016

What is the most important lesson for parents from the Mahabharatha? Bhagawan lovingly explains to us today.

Dhritarashtra had a hundred sons, the Kauravas. He knew very well that they were a wicked lot, and also knew that his brother's sons, the Pandavas, were wedded to righteousness (Dharma). He was also aware that the Kauravas were inflicting many indignities and injuries on them. Vyasa warned him thus man...y times: "Dhritarashtra! I do not say that for you to love your sons is wrong. But you must not shower misplaced affection on your sons. Do not behave like a blind ignorant man. By showing your unrestricted love for a bad son, you are causing harm to the community and the country." The doting father did not heed to sage's advice. Consequently, he got involved in many sinful actions. Through blind infatuation for his sons, what did Dhritarashtra achieve? In the final outcome, he had no one even to perform his funeral obsequies. The Pandavas had to render this service to him. It is not wrong to love children. But parents should learn how to love them.

- Divine Discourse, 5 Feb 1984.

Parents have the primary responsibility to mould the character of children. Too much freedom should not be given out of excessive affection. -BABA

How can we experience divinity in daily living? What is one key quality that will help us get there? Bhagawan lovingly explains to us today.

All of you should earnestly investigate the presence of Divinity in human life. Awareness of your duty is equal to the awareness of Divinity in daily living. In the modern world, nobody has a sense of gratitude. Some of you fail to show gratitude even to doctors who h...eal you when you were sick. You argue that you need not be grateful to the Doctor because it is their duty to cure a suffering patient. But remember, as a patient, you too have a duty. Flagrant violation of duty leads you nowhere. It is your duty to show gratitude to the mother who nourished you in the womb and fostered your wellbeing. Strange, but many even question why they should be grateful to the mother, who, in their opinion, is duty bound to take care of her children. Please internalise that it is your primary duty to take care of your mother who gave birth to you and raised you.

- Summer Showers 1996, Ch 1.

Everyone should treasure in their hearts love for their mother, who bore them, reared them with love and fostered them with care. - BABA.

Light here does not signify the light of the Sun, the Moon or the lamp, but that of the heart. Wisdom does no...t refer to scientific wisdom, but enlightenment brought about by the transformation of the heart. What about existence? Awareness of your own true reality is the proper meaning of existence. The awareness of your reality lies in the realisation that you are not the body, the mind or the senses. True realisation lies in understanding the fact that you are based on a transcendental principle that goes beyond the boundaries of matter. One should earnestly investigate the presence of Divinity in human life. Awareness of one’s own duty is tantamount to the awareness of Divinity in human life.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, TUESDAY, MARCH 22, 2016

Why should we assiduously cultivate noble and pure thoughts in our mind? And what is the best way to do that? Bhagawan lovingly gives us a purpose today.

Good company can elevate one to the level of Divinity, whereas bad company can degenerate one to the level of an animal. You should make efforts to rise above the human level. No effort is needed for your downward fall. To become bad is very easy. Young pe...ople today entertain bad thoughts and feelings, and perform bad actions, thereby wasting their precious young age. Unfortunately, people today associate with bad company, because of which their good feelings and actions are turned into bad feelings and actions — ultimately making their lives very miserable. Though it may appear to be very difficult to attain the higher level, you should still make efforts to reach higher levels. Your thoughts are the root cause of everything. Therefore, you should have only noble, sacred, pure, and meaningful thoughts.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, MONDAY, MARCH 21, 2016

What is the most important duty that we all owe to ourselves? Bhagawan lovingly gives us a powerful message to lead a life free from pain and misery.

It is the foremost duty of students to transform every activity of life into one of strength and beauty. But unfortunately, the education system of today fails to nourish the qualities of wholesomeness, unity and love, which are the hallmarks of true education. ...Students must realise that their lifespan is fast melting away like ice, whether they care to improve or not. Students of today are blind to the goal of life; many do not even feel the pain of not knowing the purpose of life. Only one in a million strives to realise the essence of life. This striving is the steppingstone for the realisation of the purpose of life. Many people feel that the acquisition of food, clothing, shelter, wealth, conveniences, and comforts constitute the very purpose of life. Life remains a tragedy as long as people toil under this kind of delusion. The day you realise the purpose of life, you undergo a total transformation, from agony (vedhana) to freedom from pain (nirvedhana).
