KARUNA NIKETANA - The Embodiment of Compassion

Swami often says that man is a limb of society; society is a limb of mankind; mankind is a limb of Nature; and Nature is a limb of God. This is the hierarchical and organic relationship between man and God. If man forgets this, he can and does get into all kinds of problems, as in fact is presently happening. Man today has completely forgotten that Nature does not stand alone, and that it is the Creation of God. Out of compassion, God has packed Nature with innumerable bounties, all for man to use and enjoy. However, the use of these gifts must be within reasonable bounds, going hand in hand with the expression of gratitude to God.

Feel free to download this “KARUNA NIKETANA” Calendar and set this as your desktop wallpaper.

Small minds select narrow roads; expand your mental vision and take to the broad road of helpfulness, compassion and service. Bhagawan is the embodiment of compassion. He watches for a grain of goodness or humility so that He can reward it with tons of grace. Deserve the grace of Him by helping the weak and the poor, the diseased and the downtrodden.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 10, 2015

Why should we be careful of our every act? Bhagawan clearly explains to us the connection between work and worship today.

You should realise that for every action there is a consequence. The results of each action depend on the nature of the action, just as the nature of the tree depends on the seed which is sowed. The consequences of one's actions are inescapable and it is for this reason that the Em...peror Manu laid down that all should observe Dharma. The consequences of actions may appear sooner or later but they are bound to occur. When you constantly think of God and perform all actions with Divine feelings, you will experience the full blossoming of the human qualities. Consider every action as dedicated to God. You cannot avoid actions. You must transform work into worship. You have to perform work in this spirit. You cannot substitute prayer for work. You have to combine both work and worship.

      - Divine Discourse, 31-Aug-1992.

All work is God’s; He inspires, He helps, He executes, He enjoys, and fibally He is pleased.-BABA

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 09, 2015

What is the barometer for real friendship? Bhagawan clearly explains to us today.

...In this transient world, wading through joy and grief, people have a sore need of someone of their kind with whom they can communicate their feelings, share their discoveries and depressions, their moments of bliss and sorrow;someone to be by their side while trekking the hard road to truth and peace. However, friendship and friends today are far from the ideal. Friends who can confer real counsel, comfort and consolation are rarely found. If friendship must last then heart must understand heart, heart must be drawn to heart. Friendship must bind two hearts and affect both of them beneficially, whatever be the circumstance - loss or gain, pain or pleasure, good fortune or bad. The bond must survive all the blows of fate and be unaffected by time, place and situation. The trust and honour of each is in the safekeeping of the other.

      - Divine Discourse, 24-May-1973.

Among the nine forms of devotion, the foremost is the cultivation of Sakhya (friendship) with God.-BABA.

The leelas of Sai Krishna (delivered on Janmashtami)

      Dear all,

What are #leelas? They are defined as the playful sport of the Avatar. Though playful, each leela is full of meaning and lessons if we pay attention. A casual glance through the leelas of Lord #Krishna and those of #SathyaSai show striking similarities in the messages they convey and the playfulness with which they were done.

But it should also be remembered that a leela is not performed in order to teach something. Instead, a leela is the nature of the Lord just as warmth is the nature of the flame! For a devotee thirsting to drink in the divine nectar of the Lord's leelas, this talk will surely act at least as a glass of water!

It was delivered as a tribute to Sai and Krishna on the day after Krishna Janmashtami, the 6th of September 2015, in the Satsangh hall at Prasanthi Nilayam, Puttaparthi.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 08, 2015

Why should we adore, internalise and practice Truth and Right-Conduct? Bhagawan clearly explains the benefits to us today.

To every being born on earth, Truth is the visible manifestation of God. The entire cosmos composed of moving and immovable objects has emerged from Truth, is sustained by Truth and merges in Truth. Truth is Divine and eternal (Sathyam-Jnanam-Anantham Brahma). Hence everyone mus...t revere Truth. Sathya and Dharma (truth and righteousness) will not submit to anyone. Every kind of strength, physical or otherwise, will have to come under their sway. Success follows Sathya and Dharma. Whatever be your scholarship or position, you have to cultivate respect for human values. Protect Sathya and Dharma always. What students and people must safeguard is not merely nations, but Sathya and Dharma. In turn these values will protect the Universe. Educated persons, who in the name of countries are giving up truth and right conduct, are actually undermining the human civilization. It is more vital to cultivate virtues than go after scholarship or other worldly riches and possessions of transient nature.

      - Divine Discourse, 20-May-1990.

You are a fragment of the Divine. This is the greatest truth that everyone must comprehend fully. - BABA.

On Wednesday, 19 August 2015, Sri K Chakravarthi, Trustee and Member Secretary, Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust, Prashanti Nilayam, Puttaparti launched Sri Sathya Sai Matru Mandir Project at Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Niketan, (CBSE Primary to Higher Secondary School) at Navsari in the State of Gujarat, Bharat.

      A Brief about the Project:

“Sri Sathya Sai Matru Mandir” is a temple having a seat of learning meant to provide motherly love and care to impecunious girls. It is a home-like informal pre-school which will develop the children’s physical, intellectual, emotional, social and spiritual aspects and tenderly prepare them for formal schooling. It is an educational and all-round developmental initiative for the benefit and welfare of underprivileged children from economically deprived families, with an aim to provide them with complete educational and vocational support until they develop into self-sustaining and productive citizens.

The project is designed and created for girls lacking one or both parents and coming from no–income or low-income families in underprivileged and tribal areas.

The design of the project is such that the Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Niketan and Sri Sai Seva Charitable Trust and Sairam Foundation of the United States of America adopt the children from the age of 5-6 years for their complete educational (books, schooling, etc.) and other (food, clothing, and hostel stay) needs. For the first two years (i.e. up to Std.2), the children would study in a separate wing of the Trust’s existing school, ‘Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Niketan’, with an aim to create a strong foundation and to prepare them to enter the mainstream school from Std. 3 onwards. Thus, from Std. 3, they will be able to study along with all other students of Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Niketan. Further, Sri Sai Seva Charitable Trust and Sairam Foundation have decided to take up complete responsibility till they graduate or finish vocational training and become self-reliant.

Consequent upon the launch of the project by Sri K Chakravarthi, the beginning was done by adopting 10 girls for the academic year 2015 – 2016.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 07, 2015

Why should we persist in our efforts to attain the Divine? Gopala, the Divine Cowherd, shares with us a precious secret today.

What is seen by your eyes, what moves your mind, what awakens your body and what shapes your entire life is the creation around you. Gopala is well versed in tending the cows, caring for them and nurturing them. The word ‘Go’ refers to cow, earth, sensory organs, heaven, speech, etc. So Gopala can play with you and make you sing. He can move you and all others. He can protect you and make you happy. This is the aspect of Gopala, the Divine Incarnate. The act of creation and the creator are permanent and they go on forever. Conditions may change and times may alter but Divinity will never change. The most important aspect of the Divine (Paramatma) is to look after the cows (His creation), protect them and ultimately ensure they merge in Him. Hence make sincere efforts to promote the divinity that is present in you and enjoy bliss. You should persevere to elevate yourself and never let yourself slip down.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 06, 2015

What would be the nature of the yearning of a true devotee? Bhagawan makes it crystal cl...ear to us today.

The heart must yearn for His voice, His form, His flute, His smile, His sport and His pranks. That is the tapas (penance) which is rewarded by His grace. The yearning must be so deep that all body consciousness is lost, the senses are ineffective, and the mind is inactive, the intelligence is at a standstill, and all ideas of duality disappear. The individual sees before him only step after step of Aananda leading him to the highest bliss of merging in the Lord. The culture of Bharath has marked out the guidelines for achieving this bliss. This bliss is the consummation of all sweetness, all the joy, and all the fulfilment derived from all the highest desires. But yet man is struggling to achieve petty things, paltry joys and low desires. When you seek God, you must not be misled into by-paths and mirages. The seeker after gold must cast away brass and other yellow metals which may distract or at times even destroy him.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 05, 2015

On the auspicious and sacred occasion of the birth of Lord Krishna, what is the worship that is most dear to the Lord? Bhagawan lovingly explains to us in crystal clear terms today.

In order to save humanity, the Lord appeared in a most charming form, so that He could draw devotees’ hearts through Love. This is why He is called 'Raso vai sah' (He is sweetness itself). Krishna incarnated to establish Dharma. So what He likes most is Dharma. Walk in the path of Dharma; that is the worship He is pleased with. The Flute is His favourite. So like a flute, become hollow (devoid of desires) and straight (with no crookedness), and He will accept you. Think of the sublime sweetness that Krishna evoked in the hearts of those who had the good fortune to be His contemporaries! Every one, from the unlettered cowherd to the most profound scholar and sage, was drawn to Him; they held on to Him firmly in unshakeable devotion. Whatever be the hardships and troubles, they never gave up His Lotus Feet. Hold on to the Lord; that is the way to peace and joy.

    SAI KRISHNA JANMASHTAMI 2015

An exclusive Radiosai facebook timeline cover to celebrate the Joyful occasion of Sri Krishnashtami!

Sri Krishna Janmashtami is the birthday of Lord Sri Krishna, the Avatar of the Dwapara Yuga, usually falls in late August in the Indian lunar month of Shravana. Bhagawan has declared that Lord Krishna’s advent took place at 3 a.m. on 20th July, 3228 B.C, the Ashtami Day (eighth day after full moon) under the star ‘Rohini’ in the dark fortnight (Kri...shna Paksha) of Shravana Masa in the year named ‘Srimukha’. Janmashtami (also called Gokulashtami or Krishnashtami) is a very colourful and joyous celebration in Prasanthi Nilayam. The Mandir transforms itself into another ‘Brindavan’ of the times of Lord Sri Krishna when as a child He frolicked in the company of His cowherd friends.

Feel free to make it your facebook timeline cover photo and dive deep into the divine essence of Sai Krishna Consciousness. Spread the blissful vibration of Sai Kanha around you and merge yourself with Thy Divinity!

The incarnation of Krishna proclaimed the doctrine of divine love, as manifested by the cowherd maids (gopikas). Man is like an earthen pot filled with nectar. His body may be made of clay, but his spirit is eternal. The Divine has to be experienced through the body. Hence, human birth should not be treated as something trivial. Human life is worth living; it should be cherished as something precious.

Gods visit Prasanthi Nilayam - The idols of Lord Venkateshwara

Not only people, but even the Gods visit Prasanthi Nilayam! That turned out to be absolutely true as the Lord of the Seven Hills, Lord Venkateshwara visited the Lord of the Universe, Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba at Puttaparthi.

The idols of Lord Venkateshwara and his two consorts – Sridevi and Bhudevi – arrived from a place called Dwarka Tirumala also known as Chinna Tirupati or “Mini Tirupati”. These are the Utsav Murti or the ceremonial procession idols of Dwarka Tirumala.... Hundreds of devotees were present for the ritualistic worship of the idols in the Poornachandra Auditorium where Bhagawan Baba presides as the Veda Purusha during the Dusshera Yajnam.

A “mobile-temple” for Venkateshwara stood outside the auditorium. It had been built on the back of a bus and hundreds thronged there also to have a darshan.

The Endowments Department of the Andhra Pradesh Government, which has been set up to administer and protect the Hindu temples, gave special permission to bring the idols to Prasanthi Nilayam.

Amidst auspicious percussion notes... amidst reverberating loud chants of "Govinda...Govinda..." lending the air... amidst Vedic incantations... amidst heartfelt whispers of prayers from the thousands congregated, Lord Venkateshwara tied the nuptial knot with His Divine Consort at 1205 hrs, in the immediate Divine Presence...

After the Narayaneeyam 'festival' involving the Lord of Guruvayoor, by the Kerala contingent last week, today it was Lord Venkateshwara of Chinna Tirupathi, as Prasanthi Nilayam witnessed the auspicious Venkateshwara Shanti Kalyanam at the Poornachandra Auditorium this afternoon.

The Utsava Vigraham from the Dwaraka Tirumala Devasthanam, West Godavari was brought to Prasanthi Nilayam last evening, for a grand reception.

The function that commenced at 1030 hrs passed through various affiliated rituals namely, Vastradanam, Upanayanam, Kanyadanam followed by Mangalyadharanam marking the grand culmination of the event. A pushpavrishti was offered to the Deity following the marriage.

Mangala Arathi at 1240 hrs marked the end of the proceedings.

Shri Phani Kumar from the Dwaraka Tirumala Devasthanam officiated the holy rituals, ably assisted by a group of priests.

The Kalyanam was aimed at world peace.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 04, 2015

What is Bhagawan’s expectation from teachers, on the eve of Teacher’s Day in India? Bhagawan lovingly explains to us today.

Teachers should regard their vocation as a sacred duty. They have the responsibility to mould the future generations of young students by what they teach, referencing practical examples from the lives of illustrious leaders. Teachers should inspire, and be an example by the way the...y live outside the classroom. Educational institutions have the responsibility to give to society well educated persons who are competent, who possess integrity and who can be relied upon to serve society with devotion and competence. What gives education its true value and significance is its moral and spiritual content. If teachers dedicate themselves to this noble cause, students will not go astray. I hope teachers will devote themselves to their duties with greater vigour and enthusiasm, and bring about a transformation in the students so that they become useful and worthy citizens.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 03, 2015

What are the qualities of a true friend? Bhagawan clearly explains to us today.

True friends are those who help in uplifting your life by cleansing your ideals and emotions. Those who drag you into pomp, pedantry, paltry entertainment and petty pranks are enemies, not friends. True friends cannot be won by social status, external scintillation or verbal assertions. A friendship knit by monetary bonds ...is disrupted as soon as you ask the loan to be repaid. So, when you oblige your friend with a loan, the friendship too is broken at that very moment. How can friendship be cemented by words or by coins? The feeling of friendship must activate every nerve, permeate every blood-cell, and purify every emotional wave; it has no place for the slightest trace of egotism. The companionship which seeks to exploit or fleece for personal benefit cannot be elevated into the noble quality of friendship. Perhaps, the only friend who can pass this rigorous test, is God.

- Divine Discourse, 24-May-1973.

Among the nine forms of devotion, the foremost is the cultivation of the sakhya (friendship) of God.-BABA

What are the qualities that will elevate human beings to the state of Divine? Where ...can we learn them from? Bhagawan clearly explains to us today.

Virtues must be cultivated in each home; each member sharing in the joy with the rest, each one seeking for opportunities for helping others. This attitude must be stuck to, so that it may stay as character. How can a vessel kept with a closed lid be filled with water? It must be open to receive good impulses! In all your efforts, trust in a Higher Power which is ever ready to help you. Then your work is made easy. This comes out of devotion, and reliance on the Lord who is the source of all Power. When you travel by train, you only have to purchase the ticket, board the proper train and take a seat, you can leave the rest to the engine. Do you carry your luggage on your head? So too, trust in the Lord and march to the best of your ability. Have faith and earn the Lord’s grace by using the intelligence and the conscience He has endowed you with.

-Divine Discourse, 21-Sep-1960.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 01, 2015

What should be the result of study of spiritual study? Bhagawan clearly explains to us the path today.

Your heart should be like glass, with the spiritual light inside illuminating the world outside. The inner urges on interacting with the world outside should make one lean towards service, empathy and mutual help. Presently, people read and study all kinds of unintelligible Vedantic texts and struggle w...ith commentaries and translations to grasp their sense. Knowledge is being poured down their throats; but the potion does not get down to soften their heart. The spiritual truths should not be put on for mere public exhibition, as in a drama, where appropriate dresses are worn on the stage but taken off when the actor moves off the stage. They must be adhered to all the time to derive the Atma ananda (Bliss of the Soul) which they genuinely confer. Bliss is easily attained by careful, well-timed and regulated discipline; it cannot be got by spurts and skips. You must take the effort to learn each lesson of virtue through systematic study and diligent application to attain success.

-Divine Discourse, 21-Sep-1960.

When God is pleased with you, the whole world will be pleased with you. Therefore, let all your efforts be directed towards pleasing God.-BABA.
