Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, SATURDAY, OCTOBER 31, 2015

How should devotion and surrender be expressed so as to earn God’s grace? Bhagawan directs us lovingly today.

The means of getting Divine grace are: Bhakti (devotion), Prapathi (surrender), Niyama (ethical discipline), Vicharana (enquiry) and Deeksha (determination). When you succeed in these tests, you will experience the grace of the Divine. Devotion should manifest itself in every action. Everything d...one out of love for God and as an offering to God becomes devotion. The devotee is filled with love and shares the love with all the others. The nine different forms of worship are only means to cultivate devotion. But the goal of all of them is to experience oneness with the Divine. Prapathi means total surrender - offering everything to the Divine. The sense of ego separates the individual from the Divine. When the individual offers everything to God, the barrier of ego is removed. Of all diseases to which man is prone, the disease arising from ahamkara (ego) is the most deadly. The only panacea for this disease is surrender to the Will of the Divine.

- Divine Discourse, 21-Jan-1988.

To secure the grace of God one must adhere to right conduct and observe purity in thought, word and deed. - BABA

What is the path tread by noble women? Bhagawan lovingly explains to us today.

Heaping respect and honour upon a person who does not follow Atmic dharma (righteousness driven by the Self) is like heaping decorations on a body that has no life in it. The soul that left the body cannot enjoy the respect shown to the corpse. So too is the case with the person who is unaware of the Reality and the purpose of... life but is crowned with fame and glory. A modest woman will not care for such meaningless trash and tinsel. This characteristic is what confers on her the title ‘The Lakshmi of the home’. The woman is the prop of the home as well as of the practice of religion. She plants and fosters religious faith. Women have natural aptitude for faith and spiritual endeavour. Women with devotion, faith, and humility often lead men on the Godward path and the practice of holy virtues.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, THURSDAY, OCTOBER 29, 2015

What are the obstacles in our lives that we must overcome and how? Bhagawan clearly explains to us today.

Have high aims in life. Set before yourselves the examples of great men and women who have figured in the history of our country and the world. Take a lesson from their life of sacrifice and heroism. You need determination to face the challenges of life which is filled with ups and downs, successes... and failures, and joys and sorrows. These challenges have to be faced with faith in God. The mind should not be allowed to waver and hop from one thing to the other. A steady mind is the mark of a truly educated person. Life should be governed by definite regulations. Self-control is essential for leading a righteous life. Our culture has always laid stress on the well-being of all. You should not be overwhelmed by difficulties that you may encounter in life. They are all transient; they come and go. The source of enduring bliss is within you. Do not give way to weakness of will.

...

Prayers are welcome and eagerly sought for the same... Special thanks to Ajish Mohan for the beautiful cover... The blurb behind the book is given here.

"Calling Sri Sathya Sai Baba a philanthropist and social reformer would be akin to calling Lord Jesus a shepherd and Bhagawan Krishna a cowherd!

One definitely cannot turn a blind eye to His magnificent work - tertiary healthcare systems, water projects, housing projects, an educational university and other service projects in over 150 countries which are first-of-a-kind in world history. However He is much more than what we understand of Him through the service projects! As He Himself declares, His greatest work is the transformation of the heart which is effected through pure, selfless love.

This is a book that attempts to capture a sample of this greatest work of Baba.

The book details the life experiences of eighteen different students and teachers of Swami’s 'KG to PG' (kindergarten to post-graduation) educational system. The incidents range from the simple and sweet to the sagacious and sublime. By providing a peek into the lives which the Master considered as “His property”, these narratives are sure to capture the heart and enrapture the mind. Though just a sample, they give us a glimpse into what Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba stands for and what He exhorts. What becomes amply clear is that it is never too early or too late to embark on the greatest quest of life."

Most people have had wonderful opportunity to be with the ‘Divine.’ What did Bhagawan want us to gain from those fleeting moments? Bhagawan lovingly reminds us today.

You have had the valuable opportunity to listen to Divine discourses and directions, they have been printed upon your hearts; many of your conversations is centered on Me or on My divine play (leelas) and glory (mahima). My advice to you is...: Apply this adoration in your life. Let your companions see how disciplined you are, how sincerely you obey your parents, and how deeply you revere your teachers. Be a light, radiating virtue and self-control wherever you live, just as commendably as you did when in My divine presence. Do not slide back into indiscipline, bad manners, irresponsibility and evil habits. Do not complain against food; eat with pleasure whatever you get. Do not protest against any errand that your parents may assign you. Run gladly and fulfil it. When they want you to nurse them, do it happily, intelligently, and feeling glad that you got the chance. Live anywhere but such that I can pour My Grace on you, more and more.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, TUESDAY, OCTOBER 27, 2015

In the present times, immodesty is very prevalent. How should a woman conduct oneself, especially when confused or troubled by peer groups? Bhagawan explains to us today.

Some might question, “Women who have swallowed all the compunctions of modesty are being honoured today! They strut about with heads erect, and the world honours them not a whit less. How is that so, if modesty is all important?” I hav...e no need to acquaint Myself with these activities of the present-day world. I do not concern Myself with them. They may receive honour and respect of a sort, but the respect is not authorized or deserved. When honour is offered to the undeserving, it is tantamount to insult; to accept it when offered is to demean the very gift. It is not honour but flattery that is cast on the immodest by the selfish and the greedy. A modest woman will never crave honour or praise. Her attention will always be on the limits that she should not transgress. Honour and praise come to her unasked and unnoticed. The honey in the flower or lotus does not crave for bees; so too is the relationship with a cultured woman who knows her limits and the respect she evokes and deserves.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, MONDAY, OCTOBER 26, 2015

How must we conduct ourself if we wish to be happy and peaceful? Bhagawan lovingly explains to us in crystal clear terms today.

These days virtue is becoming rare at all levels - in the individual, family, society and community, and also in all fields of life - economic, political and even 'spiritual’. Life must be spent in accumulating and safeguarding virtue, not riches. Listen and ruminate over the stories of the great moral heroes of the past, so that their ideals may be imprinted on your hearts. There is also a decline in discipline, which is the soil on which virtue grows. Each one must be respected, whatever be their status, economic condition or spiritual development; else there will be no peace and happiness in life. This respect can be aroused only by the conviction that the same Real Self (Atma) that is in you is playing the role of the other person. See that Divinity (Atma) in others; feel that they too have hunger, thirst, yearning and desires as you have, develop sympathy and the anxiety to serve and be useful to everyone.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, SUNDAY, OCTOBER 25, 2015

What is the most precious jewel for any woman and why? Bhagawan firmly reinforces today.

Modesty is essential for woman. Overstepping the limits of modesty is against her innate dharma; crossing its limits brings about many calamities, including destroying the very glory of womanhood. Without modesty, woman is devoid of beauty and culture. Absence of modesty makes the life of a woman, however rich in othe...r accomplishments, a vacuum. Modesty lifts her to the heights of sublime holiness. Modesty is a blend of these qualities - humility, purity of thought and manners, meekness, surrender to high ideals, sensitivity and sweetness of temper. It is the most invaluable of all jewels for women. Through her innate sense of propriety, a modest woman will ever keep within limits. She becomes automatically aware which behaviour is proper and which is not. Modesty is the true test of a woman’s grandeur. A modest woman will stick only to virtuous deeds and behavior, and will wield authority in the home and outside, in the community as well as in the world.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, SATURDAY, OCTOBER 24, 2015

What is the minimum qualification for receiving the Grace of the Lord? Bhagawan explains and gives us a few tips we can follow.

Just as you prescribe minimum qualifications for every profession, the minimum qualification for grace is surrender of egoism, control over senses and regulated food and recreation (ahara and vihara). A person is made or marred by the company kept. A bad person who falls into ...good company is able to shed their evil quickly and shine forth in virtue. A good person falling into evil company is overcome by the subtle influence and slides down into evil. The lesser is overpowered by the greater. A drop of sour curd transforms milk, curdling it, separating the butter and turning it into whey. Sacred books are also equally valuable for this transmuting process, but they have to be read and pondered upon, and their lessons have to be put into daily practice. The Gayatri Mantra is a Vedic prayer to the Supreme Intelligence that is immanent in the Universe to kindle the intelligence of the supplicant.

What is the most significant malnutrition we must eradicate Bhagawan directs us lovingly today.

When the mind of a person is unattached to the ups and downs of life, but is able to maintain equanimity under all circumstances, then even physical health can be assured. The mental firmament must be like the sky, which bears no mark of the passage through it of birds or planes or clouds. Illness is caused mor...e by malnutrition of the mind than of the body. Doctors speak of vitamin deficiency; I will call it the deficiency of Vitamin G, and I will recommend the repetition of the Name of God, with accompanying contemplation of the glory and grace of God. This Vitamin G is the medicine that is needed. Regulated life and habits are two-thirds of the treatment, while the medicine is just one-third. You must reveal the divine qualities of love, humility, detachment and contentment. Else, you could become worse than a beast and in fact more deadly.

- Divine Discourse, 27-Sep-1965.

To secure the grace of God one must adhere to right conduct and observe purity in thought, word and deed. - BABA

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, THURSDAY, OCTOBER 22, 2015

What is the true significance of the festival of Vijayadashami? Bhagawan lovingly explains to us today.

Look at the trainers of wild beasts. They bring the tiger, the most ferocious of animals, like a cat into the circus ring and make it jump through a hoop of fire, lap milk from a plate or sit face to face with a goat on a chair! They tame it to become an unassuming toy! If a ferocious tiger can be sub...dued, can you not succeed with the ferocious denizens of your mind? You can! That is the message you must internalize when you celebrate the victory of the Primal Energy! On this day the Goddess of Energy (Parashakthi), immanent in the microcosm and macrocosm had destroyed all the evil forces (Asura). That same energy is present in you as the dormant spiritual energy (Kundalini Shakti), which when awakened, can destroy, the evil tendencies within your mind; So, by means of systematic Sadhana tap the inner resources that God has endowed you with and elevate yourselves to a purer and happier realm.

- Divine Discourse, Oct 4, 1967.

It is foolish to try to shape the world. Shape yourself as the embodiment of Peace, Love and Reverence. Then you will see all as Love, Compassion and Humility. - BABA.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 21, 2015

What is the purpose of the Navarathri celebrations? Bhagawan clearly explains to us today.

Goddess Durga represents the power of Nature (Prakruthi-Shakti) and Goddess Lakshmi represents the thought power (Sankalpa-Shakti). Goddess Saraswati represents the power of speech (Vak-Shakti). It is to acquire these three powers that the various forms of worship are performed during the Navarathri festival. ...But prayers alone are not enough. Prayers issue from the lips, but they should emanate from the heart. The heart (hridaya) symbolises the Ocean of Milk (Ksheerasagara) from which emerges Mother Lakshmi. When Goddess Lakshmi emerges, purity of speech follows. Whatever you speak must conform to truth. Renunciation (Vairagya) is not abandonment of hearth and home, and retiring to a forest. It means developing divine thoughts and reducing worldly feelings. It is when this balanced development takes place that you acquire Prakruthi-Shakti (control over the power of Nature). When these powers are secured, your mental power, peace and bliss increases.

- Divine Discourse, 4 Oct 1992.

Radiosai Special:
75TH AVATAR DECLARATION DAY of SATHYA SAI ADVENT
#AvatarhoodDeclarationDay #SriSathyaSai #PrasanthiNilayam

October 20, 1940. It was on this day, that Bhagawan Baba unveiled the mystery surrounding His birth, life and mission. He declared to the people around, and through them to the entire mankind, that He indeed is the Supreme Consciousness embodied in a diminutive and deligh...tful form. “I am no longer your Sathya, I am Sai…I have My work; My devotees are calling Me…” He announced candidly on that day.

Ever since, this eternal reservoir of energy and empathy, hope and happiness, solace and succour, light and love, has nursed and nurtured, and ensured that the tiny seed of goodness latent within every individual grows into a gigantic tree of love and serenity. And like a perfect teacher, He has demonstrated this more by living that principle in every moment of His own life. The result is a luminescent legacy that will continue to illumine the dark alleys of humanity’s collective consciousness, elevating it to a state of absolute sublimity for generations to come.

Cherish every moment spent with Lord as every moment is filled with eternal joy of His selfless affection. Let us follow Sai legacy to make our life His Divine message.

Thank you and loving Sai Ram,

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, TUESDAY, OCTOBER 20, 2015

Bhagawan declares that we all are essentially divine. What then is the difference between us and Him? On this auspicious Avatar Declaration Day, Bhagawan lucidly explains.

Oblivious to the presence of the sacred Divine within, people embark on their quest for God. Avatars (incarnations) are of two kinds: Amsaavatar and Purnaavatar. All human beings are Amsaavatar (partial incarnation of the Divine). Mamai...vaamso jeevaloke jeevabhutah sanatanah (In this world of living beings, it is a part of My Eternal Self that has become the Jiva, the individual soul), says Krishna in the Gita. These partial incarnations, caught up in Maya, develop egoism and possessiveness and lead worldly lives. However, the Purnaavatars (complete incarnations of the Divine), subduing and transcending Maya, manifest their full divinity to the world in their lives. The Purnaavatar may behave, according to the circumstances, as if subject to Maya, but in reality He is free from it at all times. But some, not understanding this truth owing to their own limitations, attribute wrong motives to His actions. In this they reflect their own feelings.

Avatar Declaration Day - 20th October

20th October every year is celebrated as the Avatar Declaration Day. It is on this historically significant day in the year 1940, that the young lad Sathyanarayana Raju revealed to the world His Divine identity and the glorious mission for which He had come. This day has had an impact on the lives of many more than just those who acknowledge to be His devotees. For He insisted that, "If you Love Me, you have to Love All and Serve All ". Because of this clarion call, thousands benefitted from the goodness.

He inspired in His devotees, to have a renewed hope in mankind itself. Every patient that has benefited from His hospitals returns home a better person. Students of His schools and colleges spread righteousness in their fields of work. And all of this can be sourced to this day, 20 October 1940, when as a young lad of 14 summers He told His family that He did not belong to them, He had a task much grander than they can envisage, and that 'His people' were waiting for Him.

The following lines capture the events on that epochal day:

Sathyanarayana started for school as usual. However, within a few minutes, He returned to the house. Standing on the outer doorstep, He cast aside the books He was carrying and called out, “I am no longer your Sathya. I am Sai.” The sister-in-law came from the kitchen, only to be blinded by the splendour of the halo around Baba's head! He addressed her, “I am going; I don't belong to you; Maya (delusion) has gone; My Bhaktas (devotees) are calling Me; I have My Work; I can't stay here any longer." When the brother hurried home on hearing all this, Baba only told him, "Give up all your efforts to 'cure' Me. I am Sai; I do not consider Myself related to you".

In spite of repeated pleas, Sathya would not step into that building again. He moved in into the garden of the Excise Inspector Sri Anjaneyulu's bungalow, and sat on a rock in the midst of the trees. People came into the garden from all directions bringing flowers, fruits, incense and camphor to worship Him. The garden resonated with the voices of hundreds singing bhajans (devotional singing) and following the lines of the first prayer that Sri Sathya Sai taught them.

“Manasa Bhajare Gurucharanam Dusthara Bhava Sagara Tharanam “

(O Mind! Meditate on the Feet of the Guru, which will take you across the wearisome sea of Samsara or worldly existence.)

To celebrate this landmark event in Baba’s life, the Avatar Declaration Day is celebrated every year with devotion and gratitude.

Excerpts from Bhagawan’s Discourses:

In the 2002 Avatar Declaration Day discourse, Swami recalled His childhood days and shared with everyone His early years. A small excerpt is here:

“The Corporation Commissioner of Bellary and his wife played host to us for three days. They took us to the Virupaksha temple in the nearby Hampi Kshetra. Seshama Raju and his wife told Me to remain outside the temple and keep a watch over their belongings as they would go inside to have darshan of the deity. I readily agreed and remained outside. As soon as they entered the temple, to their utter astonishment, they found Me standing inside the sanctum sanctorum where the deity is supposed to be standing. Seshama Raju could not believe his eyes. He thought, "Why did he come here when I told him specifically to remain outside and take care of our belongings?" He at once came out of the temple only to find Me standing there! He again went inside and found Me there also! Still he was not convinced. He told his wife, "You go outside and keep a watch over Sathya. Do not allow him to go anywhere. Meanwhile, I will go inside and see whether he is still there." She did accordingly. He again saw a smiling Sathya standing in the sanctum sanctorum. The Corporation Commissioner was also a witness to all this. He recognised My divinity. When they came out of the temple, he caught hold of Seshama Raju's hands and said, "Raju, do not be under the impression that Sathya is your brother. He is not an ordinary person. You are deluded seeing His physical form. There is divine power in Him.

We came back to the Commissioner's house, had our food there and started our return journey to Uravakonda. The Commissioner wanted to give Me a gift. He said that he would get four pairs of shorts and shirts stitched for Me. I firmly told him that I would not accept even one. He did not want to force Me either. Then his wife suggested that a gold collar pin would be an appropriate gift for Me. In those days, it was a matter of prestige for children to wear a collar pin. Immediately, he bought a gold collar pin and put it on the collar of My shirt. I protested. Under any circumstances, I never accepted anything from others. But, Seshama Raju insisted that I accept the gift. He said that my refusal to accept the gift would amount to showing disrespect to the Commissioner. So, I obeyed him.

After returning from Hampi, I was going to school wearing the collar pin. The pin dropped on the way and could not be traced. A major change took place in Me. Worldly attachment left Me in the guise of a collar pin. I decided to embark on My mission to alleviate the sufferings of My devotees.”

What does being an Avatar mean?
Out of love, like that of a mother towards her children,
God descends to the level of humanity, to the earth,
With a perfect amalgamation of human and Divine consciousness!

Bhagawan would say that the mother bends down to the level of the child, and then raises and embraces it. So too God moved by the plea of the pious and the yearning of the deserving, descends to their level to draw and raise them. It is for this purpose that He comes down to the worldly plane in a human garb. Man is floundering hopelessly in the world today because he is unable to recognise the Divinity that lies latent within him. How then will he realise the Presence when the Lord Himself descends in a human form? So out of His immense compassion the Lord Himself declares to the world His reality. Bhagawan Baba, did it on 20th October, the day we fondly remember as Avatar Declaration Day.

Bhagawan had already decided upon who his parents and close associates would be, as also the lineage of descent, the Ratnakaras. To the delight of everyone he had been performing numerous amazing miracles right from the moment of his birth. Our revered Bhagawan had uttered these words on a supremely auspicious morning. This Declaration of Avatar marked a new dawn for the earth and a new era for the universe. For the human race, it was a beacon of hope, a gentle shower of Love, a great gift of Peace, a radiant Truth, a Lamp of Dharma.

To celebrate this landmark event in Baba’s life - let us present our flower-blossoms of gratitude for being his contemporaries. Let us bathe with tears of joy our Bhagawan who has always protected, nourished, and cared for us. Let us pray to Him to make our lives meaningful by rededicating ourselves to fully understand and implement Sai’s message.

Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai not only preached but also made His Life His Message; Sri Sathya Sai not only resorted to Pracharana (propagation) but Prasad (transmission) also. Sai devotees should also follow Bhagawan’s precepts and make a resolve on this auspicious day to make their lives a Message of Sai.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, MONDAY, OCTOBER 19, 2015

Why should we persist in holding on to noble practices, even though it is extremely difficult in the beginning? Bhagawan gives us valuable tips through memorable examples.

When people are asked to do spiritually salutary acts, initially no one has any inner urge. Still don’t give up in despair. Until the taste sprouts, strictly follow the disciplines. This taste is a result of training. No one has it from ...the very beginning, but constant practice will create the zest. The infant doesn’t know the taste of milk. By taking milk daily, it starts liking it; in fact the taste becomes so dear that when milk is to be given up to be substituted with rice, it starts to protest. But the mother doesn’t despair; she persuades the child to take small quantities of cooked rice daily, and over time the child starts liking rice and eventually gives up milk. Milk, its natural food, is now replaced with rice again in a natural way. Indeed now if no rice is available for one day, the child becomes miserable. Similarly with constant practice, the desire for worldly and sensual objects and matters, will wane and good company (Satsang) will prevail.

- Bhagavatha Vahini, Ch 1.

Just as fire is needed until rice is cooked, so also spiritual practices are needed until you realize your innate divinity.-BABA.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, SUNDAY, OCTOBER 18, 2015

What should we do to transform our daily living into a sacrificial offering? Bhagawan clearly explains to us the method and the result.

Jnana Yajna is specially recommended by scriptures for all. Jnana does not simply mean knowledge gained from scholars and books, but actually conducting in accordance with that knowledge. Knowledge can never ripen into wisdom so long as the ego persists in craving for resu...lts to satisfy its desires. When ego fades away, knowledge shines as Wisdom. When yajnas are performed solely for the peace and prosperity of the world (Loka-Kalyan), they reach God. Jnana reveals that in every sacrifice, God is the Prompter, the Promoter, the Sacrificer, the Sacrifice, the Product achieved and the Recipient of the product. God is the consumer of every sacred offering (Yajnabhuk); He is guardian of the yajna (Yajna-bhrith) and its performer (Yajna krith). He is all; it is only when He is all that the act becomes a genuine yajna. If this attitude can soak into every activity, it will sanctify every moment of your life and make it a yajna.

- Divine Discourse, 2 Oct 1981.

• The Song can be any original composition (song and not instrumental) in Carnatic or Hindustani classical or light classical or western. Language is no bar. Any soulful song is welcome.

• Our aim through this initiative is to stir people to bring out their love for Bhagawan in a musical form. First and foremost we wish to offer these at Bhagawan's Sannidhi as a collective offering. Then, to share these stirring melodies with all. Lastly, we will pick from among the entries a few truly commendable ones, which stand out for their excellence as a musical composition.

• Many of you would like to send in more than one entry we are sure. But for this particular offering, send us one song of yours, the song you believe is the most worthy to be placed at His lotus feet.

• If you so wish, you can send in your composition rendered by another person too. But ensure it is an original composition. The composer of the song will be considered the participant.

GRAMA SEVA - RAMA SEVA
#‎SathyaSaiGramaSeva‬

More than 2000 students from the four campuses of the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning namely Prasanthi Campus, Brindavan Campus, Anantapur Campus and Muddenahalli Campus along with students of the Higher Secondary School participate in this sacred event. Over 50000 households will be given food and clothing during this period. Grama Seva is an Annual event, which began under the direct guidance of Bhagawan in the year... 2000. The main purpose of this project is three-fold:

1. To give assurance to the rural population that there is someone there to ‘care’ within their community
2. To sensitize the students to the needs of the community
3. To give the students exposure to project management and team-building.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, SATURDAY, OCTOBER 17, 2015

What is the purpose of following various forms of worship? Why is it necessary to follow prescribed procedures? Bhagawan lovingly explains to us in crystal clear terms today.

Normally people are drawn to sense objects, for they are victims of instincts. Instincts easily seek sense objects - they come along with the body and aren’t derived by any training. The infant seeks milk from the mother’s breast, a...nd the newborn calf naturally nestles at the udder. However for the infant to walk and talk, some training is necessary, because these actions are either socially prompted or learnt by example or picked up by imitation of others. Training is essential even for the proper pursuit of sense pleasure, for wild untrained search for such pleasure promotes anger, hatred, envy, malice and conceit. Hence to train the senses along salutary lines and to hold them under control, certain good disciplines like repeating Lord’s Name (japa), meditation (dhyana), fasts (upavasa), worship at dawn and dusk, etc. are essential. Though sense pleasures are ‘natural’ at first, by constant practice, training and listening to the wise, slowly the greater and everlasting bliss derived by divine adoration is grasped.

- Bhagavatha Vahini, Ch 1.

DIVINE DASARA with DIVINE MOTHER SAI

A Special facebook cover to Celebrate the Auspicious Navaratri festival 2015.

Since the 1940s, Navaratri has been an important festival at Puttaparthi. Over the years the festival has changed and evolved based on the settings, the times and the resources the devout could offer. The intention behind Bhagawan Baba encouraging all this was to exhort each one to sanctify one's body and mind through sacred activities, during this holy period wh...ich is highly conducive for spiritual progress.

As of today, Navaratri in Puttaparthi is marked by three major events - the Veda Purusha Saptaha Jnana Yajna, the Prasanthi Vidwan Mahasabha and the Sri Sathya Sai Gramaseva. The yajna pertains to the act of upasana or worship, the Vidwan Mahasabha which is a series of scholarly talks, seeks to enlighten the intellect, and the Gramaseva is a means to use one's physical strengths and energies for the service of the needy. Thereby the celebrations encompass the spiritual triad of Bhakti, Jnana and Karma (devotion, wisdom and action). Bhagawan Baba ensured that, all these activities, though grand, were performed with the intention of selflessness, dedication and devotion. That is what makes the Dasara celebrations at Puttaparthi truly worth experiencing.

You could check the programme schedule for this year's DASARA CELEBRATION 2015 here:
http://media.radiosai.org/…/Sri-sathya-sai-birthday-program…

Celebrate Navaratri with Mother Sai’s immense blessings.

May this sacred festival brings the choicest joy and prosperity in your life.

Thank you and loving Sai Ram,

Radio Sai Team.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, FRIDAY, OCTOBER 16, 2015

What are the mandatory sacrificial offerings (yajnas) that every human being must undertake? Bhagawan lovingly reinforces to us today.

Five yajnas are prescribed as mandatory for every human being: (1) Activities devoted to the study of scriptures (Rishi Yajna); (2) Activities devoted to parents who confer your birth, foster and guide you (Pitr Yajna); (3) Acts done as reverential homage to God who endowed ...you with mind, intelligence, memory and consciousness, and who is inherent in your every cell as Rasa, the vital energy (Raso Vai Sah). Indeed, the right use of these instruments that God has given you is Deva Yajna; (4) The fourth is adoration of guests. Everyone must welcome the chance of entertaining a guest and treat them with affection, and please them with sincere hospitality as if sent by God, be it one's own kith and kin or strangers (Atithi Yajna); (5) The final yajna is unselfish acts done while dealing with trees, plants, animals, birds and pets like cats and dogs (Bhoota Yajna). Remember to make every act of yours from sunrise to the onset of sleep as a Yajna!

- Divine Discourse, 2 Oct 1981.

Acts by which you express your gratitude and affection, adoration and appreciation are really holy yajna. -BABA
