What should we do to transform ourselves into Divine? Bhagawan lovingly reminds us today.

When you desire to transform a silver statue into a Krishna idol, you cannot succeed by simply covering the silver idol with a cloth and uncovering it after a few seconds! You have to break the statue into pieces, melt the bits and pour the silver into the Krishna mould! So too when you yearn to transform yourself int...o Divine, you must break the pieces with the help of the attitude of detachment, melt them in the fire of wisdom (jnana), and pour your mind into the mould of devotion. Then the entire consciousness takes on the Divine Name, Form and Substance. Then, whatever is spoken or done or thought assumes the splendour and purity of the Divine. Remember, nothing will please God more than rigorous adherence to righteousness (Dharma). You can stick to the path of Dharma only if you are conscious of the Divine in everything that you see or hear, touch or taste.

- Divine Discourse, Nov 1970.

Why is it very important for an aspirant to be wary of pride? Bhagawan lovingly explains and cautions us today.

The effulgence of your soul (Atma) is obscured by ego. Therefore, when ego is destroyed, all troubles end, all discontents vanish, and bliss is attained. Just as the sun is obscured by mist, so also, the feeling of ego hides eternal bliss. Even if the eyes are open, a piece of cloth or cardboard... can prevent vision from functioning effectively and usefully. So too, the screen of selfishness prevents one from seeing God, who is in fact nearer than anything else. Develop the characteristics of truth, kindness, love, patience, forbearance and gratefulness. Ego (ahamkara) cannot subsist wherever these qualities reside, just as darkness disappears with sunrise. Many a spiritual aspirant (sadhaka), recluse, and renunciant (sanyasin) has allowed all excellences won by long years of struggle and sacrifice to slip away through this attachment to the self. Power without the bliss of God-realisation is a wall without a basement.

- Prema Vahini, Ch 15.

When you are chopping vegetables, consider that you are chopping away your desires and ego with the knife of wisdom. - BABA.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 28, 2015

What is the easiest way to realize the ‘One’ present in ‘everyone’? Bhagawan lovingly explains to us in crystal clear terms today.

Creation or manifestation started, as the Upanishads say, when the One willed, Ekoham bahusyam - "I am One; let Me become Many. It is the integer (I) that fills the zeros after it with value and validity! The realisation of the function of the ‘I’ and the act of ignoring all ...zeros that come after it, is the end and goal of all human endeavour. When the mind is unruffled and the intelligence is sharpened, this realisation will take place naturally. Through the discipline of selfless service, you can easily recognise the One who appears as many. To attain that experience, service must be rendered either from a supreme sense of duty or as a humble dedicatory offering to the Highest, or in a spirit of total surrender to the will of God leaving all thought of the consequence to His grace. Any act of service done with these pure motives, will develop detachment and confer highest rewards.

- Divine Discourse, Nov 1970.

Avoid hating, envying or even disliking anyone for any reason. Put love into practice through selfless service. -BABA

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 27, 2015

What is the barometer for a genuine spiritual aspirant? Bhagawan lovingly explains the qualities that will help us overcome our ego.

People develop in themselves an abounding variety of selfish habits and attitudes, causing themselves great discontent. The impulse for this comes from the power complex, the greed for accumulating authority, domination and power! The greed for things can never be eternal an...d full, and in fact, it is impossible for anyone to satiate their desires fully. A person might feel elated to become the master of all arts, owner of all wealth, possessor of all knowledge, or repository of all the scriptures, but from whom did the person acquire all these? You may think you earned all this through your own efforts and toil. The source from which all authority, talent, energy and power originate is the Lord of all. Ignoring Lord’s omnipotence, deluding oneself that the little greatness acquired is supreme, is indeed selfishness, conceit and pride (ahamkara). A genuine aspirant can be recognized by the characteristics of truth, kindness, love, patience, forbearance and gratefulness. Wherever these reside, ego cannot subsist; it has no place. Therefore seek to develop these.

- Prema Vahini, Ch 15.

Ustad Zakir Hussain mesmerises devotees

DC CORRESPONDENT
ANANTAPUR. NOV. 24

A legendary offering was in the offing and the artiste was Ustad Zakir Hussain, internationally renowned tabla maestro.
The Jhoola Mahotsav- am on the birthday evening was scheduled to Tuesday evening as part 90th birth anniversary celebrations of Baba at Prashanti Nilayam.

Striking a familiar chord with India’s rich "Guru” tradition, Ustad Zakir Hussain, began with musings, bursting into the famous Guru Mantra, Gurur Brahma Gurur Vishnu.

Pointing to Jhoola Sai, he said. Guru is there, Guru is here (in his heart) and Guru is every¬where. He then recounted his heart's rich content of familiarity with Bhagawan. He was blessed to enjoy during the 1970s, and later during the 70th birthday celebrations of Baba, when, he, along with his father Ustad Alla Rakha Khan performed at Sai Kulwanth Hall.

In the next one hour, tabla stole the limelight, with Ustad weaving his magical spell for Bhagawan. Ustad commenced his recital with the spell bounding "Peshkar" in the tradi¬tional style of Punjab Gharana. Following this, he moved on to play two "Kaidas" of Delhi and Farukkhabad Gharanas. Next was the thunderous "Rela" in Madhya Laya.

He explained the importance and significance of the word "Tala". His magical tabla brought out the sounds of "Damaru" (the percussion instrument of Lord Shiva), the conch, steam engine and the energetic horse gallop¬ing.

The concert ended in faster tempo with "tukdas, chakradhars and dhir dhir rela" leaving the devotee-audience, wishing there was more from him.

His countless magical finger beats in the evening struck a reso¬nant chord with the equally countless heart¬beats present, transporting them to meditative, ecstatic, euphoric heights. Every finger beat appeared representing the exuberant joy of Mother Earth, celebrating the footsteps of beloved Baba. Every finger beat appeared representing the euphoric elated celebration of the countless heavens watching the carnival on Earth.

What is the important training every mother and parent must impart to their children? Bhagawan lovingly reminds us through a true story.

Putlibai, Mahatma Gandhi’s mother, spent her life in the contemplation of God. She observed a vow wherein she wouldn’t partake food until she heard a cuckoo sing. One day it so happened that the cuckoo was not heard. Gandhi, a small boy then, couldn’t bear to see his mother fasting for a long time. He went behind the house and mimicked the cuckoo’s song. Putlibai felt extremely sad when she realised that her son was uttering a lie. She cried, “O God! What sin have I committed to have given birth to a son who speaks untruth?” Realising the immense grief he had caused to his mother by uttering a lie, Gandhi took a vow that he would never indulge in falsehood ever again. It is imperative that mothers train their children in moral values right from their childhood. Never overlook children’s mistakes – correct them immediately when they stray away from the righteous path and reward them for their good deeds.

- Divine Discourse, 19-Nov-2000.

Why is senses-control as important as Sadhana itself? Bhagawan explains lucidly and hints at a step from where we can make a beginning.

Without the control of senses, spiritual practices (Sadhana) are ineffective; it is like keeping water in a leaky pot. Pathanjali (the celebrated sage and author of the Yoga Sutras) has said that when tongue is conquered, victory is yours. While the eye, the ear and the... nose serve as instruments of knowledge about one particular characteristic of Nature, the tongue makes itself available for two purposes: to judge taste and to utter words - symbols of communication. You must control the tongue with double care, since it can harm you in two ways. When the tongue craves for some delicacy, assert that you will not cater to its whims. If you persist in giving yourself simple food that is not savoury or hot, but amply sustaining, the tongue may squirm for a few days, but it will soon welcome it. That is the way to subdue it and overcome the evil consequences of it being your master.

Bhagawan’s Birthday celebrations of the yesteryears would be marked by the unfurling of the Prasanthi flag. What should this flag hoisting mean to us? Bhagawan lovingly explains.

Be pure, alert and humble. I am in you; you are in Me. You hoist the Prasanthi flag in Prasanthi Nilayam. Remember, the flag is a sign that is significant for each and every one of you. It is a reminder of your duty to yourself, ...and so when you hoist it you must unfurl it in your own hearts. It reminds you to overcome the urge of low desires, of anger and hate when your desires are thwarted; it exhorts you to expand your heart so that you embrace all humanity, all life and all creation in its compass; it directs you to quieten your impulses and calmly meditate on your own inner reality. It assures you that, when you do so, the lotus of your heart will bloom, and from its center will arise the flame of divine vision, which guarantees Prasanthi (infinite peace) to every one of you.

As we celebrate the grand 90th Birthday of Bhagawan, what is it that we must do to utilise completely this blessing of knowing Him. Bhagawan lovingly guides us today. ‪#‎90yearsofSathyaSai‬

It serves no purpose if you merely acknowledge that the Lord has come but do not yearn to benefit by the Advent. Offer your entire self, your entire life, to Him; then your adoration will transform and transmute you so ...fast and so completely that you will merge into Him. He thinks, He feels and acts as you do; you think, feel and act as He does. You will be transformed as a rock is transformed by the sculptor into an idol, deserving the worship of generations of sincere men and women. In the process you will have to bear many a hammer stroke and chisel-wound, for He is the sculptor. He is but releasing you from petrification! So today, offer your heart to the Lord, and gladly let Him transform you. Practice the three disciplines of silence, cleanliness and forbearance. In silence you can hear the voice of God. Through cleanliness you earn purity. By forbearance, you cultivate love.

First translate this awareness into actual practice and enshrine the experience in your hearts. Then share the joy of that experience with others. Never allow your minds to get agitated with limitless desires. You must render your homes bright by pleasing your parents. If you cause grief to them your entire life will be soaked in grief and your children, in turn, are sure to sink you in sorrow. Never be arrogant towards your parents just because you earned a degree. "Consider the Mother as God; consider the Father as God; consider the Teacher as God; consider the Guest as God." Follow this fourfold exhortation with full faith in its validity, derive bliss (Ananda) therefrom and inspire others by your example, so that the Motherland may progress and prosper. Fulfil this desire of Mine, with My blessings.

Sathya Sai Speaks Website Launch Video - One Point Stop for All Discourses of Sathya Sai Baba

This website will have audio clips from various discourse delivered by Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba.

One of the greatest gifts Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba has given mankind is the treasure trove of hundreds of discourses delivered over three decades. Thanks to this gesture of divine magnanimity, and the help of technology, we can still listen to many of those messages of the Avatar in His very own voice. Bhagawan's discourses cover many themes and have been addressed to varied audiences.

The mission of Radio Sai is to disseminate the message of universal love and selfless service of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba; it is 'divine love in the digital dimension'.

Now on this website we have short discourse clips thematically classified and regularly updated with more of them. You can easily search using a key word or by looking under specific themes. All of these are culled from a growing repository of over 800 discourses delivered by Baba on various occasions and at different locations.

Radio Sai team at Puttaparthi is grateful to scores of volunteers who made this idea a reality and who continue to support it in manifold ways. We place this at the Lotus Feet as a small offering from all of us.

Beautiful Statue of Swami

November 20, 2015 :A sculptor by name Mr. Chinna from Rampachodavaram of Andhra Pradesh came to Puttaparthi with this beauitiful statue of Swami. He is a Shirdi baba devotee and had never been to Puttaparthi nor seen Swami physically. While he was making a statue of Shirdi, Swami came in his dream and said, " It is the same Sai that you are worshipping. Do My statue too". The very next day he took up this stupendous task of making the statue and in 3 months the beautiful statue was ready.

His intention was to give the statue of Swami to the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust and leave it in the ashram's hands to decide as what to do with the statue there after. By the time he reached Puttaparthi with the statue, it was 10.30 PM.

As it was too late to go any where, the only option that seemed possible for him was Prof. Anil Kumar's house. He then went up to Prof. Anil Kumar and requested him if he can "keep" the statue for a night before he offers it to the ashram. The statue was too good and beautiful for Prof.Anil Kumar and Mrs.Vijaya Lakshmi Anil Kumar to think twice and there were so happy to provide the shelter. The next morning saw a sea of people thronging to see this statue in Prof.Anil Kumar's home in Samadhi Road.
