What is our Reality? What is the reality of the seen world? Bhagawan, our loving Master, clearly explains today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Sunday, May 31, 2015

The human body is a cover, a receptacle for the Atma. Elements like water and wind are intimately bound up with the body. Therefore, the Atma Principle, which is the core, is not cognised. People have lost awareness of this Principle, which is Truth. The Atma is in the body, but not of it. The Atma P...rinciple, though active in the body, does not belong to the body. The ability of the eyes to see and the ears to hear are given by the Atma. The eyes and ears are sustained by the Omni-Consciousness, the Divine Principle. Your Soul (Divine Self) is the real ‘You’, the Will (Sankalpa). The elements (ether, wind, fire, water, and earth) that constitute the cosmos operate only as prompted by the supreme wisdom, which energizes them. The entire world of living beings - both fixed and moving are sustained by supreme wisdom. That supreme wisdom is Atma, the Brahman and the visible, objective world.

- Sutra Vahini, Ch 5.

What is the path of devotion? Bhagawan lovingly teaches us a memorable lesson to aid us in our quest for the Lord.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Saturday, May 30, 2015

You pray to God for trivial worldly things. Distinguish clearly between earthly happiness and divine bliss. Ask for selfless love, which you do not have, but He has in plenty. Pray for love, peace and bliss. God is the embodiment of bliss; His love is supreme without a parallel. He knows what is ...good for you and will give it. He is a witness to all your thoughts, words and actions. Therefore surrender wholeheartedly unto Him, and lead an ideal life. You are all embodiments of the Divine. So love all and never hurt anyone. If you harm anyone, you are harming the Divine. Love is as vital for a human as fire is vital for a lump of coal to sparkle. Get rid of all your weaknesses by concentrating on Divine Love, as grace is ever flowing and confers the greatest strength. God is the Cosmic Director and all humans are mere actors. So perform your role to please Him!

- Divine Discourse, 17 July 1997.

What are the obstacles we must overcome in our journey to discover Reality? Bhagawan reveals and also explains how to overcome them.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Friday, May 29, 2015

Vikshepa is an affliction of the mind that consists of worldly distractions; various spiritual exercises (sadhanas) are undertaken to overcome it and realise the Divine. The sadhanas include meditation, concentration and performance of good deeds for achieving purity of mind. When one succeeds in overcoming Vikshepa, one is confronted with avarana (akin to a thick covering in which one is enveloped). This covering is known as maya (delusion). It envelops everything in the universe. The eyes with which one can see everything that is outside cannot see themselves. Likewise, Maya, which reveals the entire universe, cannot reveal the Divine. Because we are enveloped in Maya, we seek worldly pleasures and do not seek our own Divine essence. ‘Yaddhrushyam than-nashyathi - Whatever is perceptible, is perishable.’ In the pursuit of fleeting and impermanent pleasures, we are throwing away the permanent, the unchanging and the real elements in human life.

- Divine Discourse, 17 March 1983.

AFTER TWO YEARS HOLY CHITRAVATHI RIVER IS FLOWING:

Saibliss added 17 new photos to the album: AFTER TWO YEARS HOLY CHITRAVATHI RIVER IS FLOWING:.

May 28, 2015:The holy river of Kali Yuga which got sanctified by the divine touch of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai ...Baba, a silent witness to the mesmerising miracles of Young Sathya, today saw a stream of water flowing much to the merry of the Puttaparthians for whom it was like a child's joy when taken to a beach.

That little stream of water filled the hearts of Puttaparthians, some came with familes to witness the river, some children spent the whole day in the water and were seen "dragged" to home by their mothers and there were lot of devotees who were offering praying to Mother Ganga for blessing Puttaparthi. In the recent years Puttaparthi has been witnessing severe water shortage with many borewells dried up and the water flow into Chitravathi river gave a big sigh of relief

Chitravathi river stopped flowing as it used to be as there were lot of dams built in the state of Karnataka and also few places in Andhra Pradesh. Even though it didn't rain that heavily in Puttaparthi, the higher altitude places would have witnessed some heavy rains resulting in some water flow in Chitravathi river.

What is the significance of the sacred Gayatri Mantra? Bhagawan lovingly reminds us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Thursday, May 28, 2015

The Gayatri mantra is the royal road to Divinity. There is no fixed time or regulation for reciting it. Nevertheless, the young celibates (Brahmacharis) would do well to recite it during the morning and evening Sandhya (twilight hours) to derive the greatest benefit. However because the Divine is beyond time and space..., anytime and anyplace is appropriate for repeating God's name. The Bhagavata declares: "Sarvadaa, sarvatra, sarva kaleshu Hari chintanam - Contemplate on God always, at all places and at all times." You must learn to think of God in whatever you see, whatever you do and whatever you touch. You must realise that you are playing temporary roles on the cosmic stage. You must get back to your true Divine Selves when the play is over. By regularly reciting the Gayatri, you must purify your lives and be an example to the world in righteous living.

- Divine Discourse, 17 Mar 1983.

What is the simplest way to lead a safe, secure, happy and peaceful life? Bhagawan lovingly reminds us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Wednesday, May 27, 2015

Youth today are becoming exceedingly greedy and totally selfish, harboring feelings of hatred and jealousy. Their lifestyle of enjoying worldly and carnal pleasures (bhoga) will result in diseases (roga). In ancient times, youth and saints alike, lead a life of sacrifice and sense control (thyaga and... yoga) and enjoyed peace and joy. When going on a tour, people like to carry sufficient money for expenses and when they finish the journey or reach the goal, they deposit or hand over the remainder to a trustworthy friend and sleep soundly. All of you are blessed with the wealth of love from the moment of your birth. In this field of worldly activity (Karmakshetra), it is very difficult to safeguard the treasure of love (Prema). Therefore you need to find a faithful friend to hand it over - and the only true friend is God. So hand over the wealth of your love to God, and lead a secured life filled with peace and joy.

- Divine Discourse, July 17, 1997.

What is the secret to lead a happy life and be truly loved by those around? Bhagawan beautifully explains the secrets to us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Tuesday, May 26, 2015

So long as a person is puffed up with pride, none, not even their spouse and children will love them. You must shed your ego and arrogance, even to be loved by your own family. You will definitely suffer grief and misery as long as you are prone to anger. It is only when you give ...up anger, you can be happy. So long as you go on multiplying your desires, you will continue to be in want. Control your desires, you will attain prosperity. Greed makes a person unhappy and miserable. When greed and miserliness are given up, you can lead an enjoyable and peaceful life. The human race, the whole world and the objects therein are interrelated by the bond of love. God is love and resides in the heart of every one as the Embodiment of love. Based on this truth we pray, "Samastha-Loka-Sukhino Bhavanthu" (May all the beings in all the worlds be happy).

Radio Sai Special Report: AISSCE XII BOARD RESULTS 2015

SRI SATHYA SAI HIGHER SECONDARY SCHOOL,
PRASANTHI NILAYAM

It is that time of the year when students, parents and teachers eagerly and nervously await the X and XII class results (in India). These results are believed to be one of the first major milestones in the life of students. So much so, that teachers and parents start preparing their wards for these exams years before they actually appear for them. At the Sri Sath...ya Sai Higher Secondary School, the results for the exams is received as differently as the exams were prepared for. If one were to visit Bhagawan's hostels before these exams, one will find a silence born out of discipline and not nervousness. What generally happens before such momentous exams is that the students stop playing, start praying and do no other work but study all day long. But the students of the Sri Sathya Sai Higher Secondary School will still play, pray and take care of their hostel like always, and yet when it's results time they don't await them trepidatiously.

Year after year, Baba's school in Prasanthi Nilayam has been producing remarkable results in the All India, Central Board of Secondary Education exams for 10th and 12th standards. This year too the students of Bhagawan, have made Him proud through their performance.

Total Students = 117
Total First Class (60%) = 117
Total Distinction (75%) = 115
Total Above 90% = 64

We at Radio Sai on behalf of the Sai Family, express our heartfelt gratitude to Bhagawan, and commend the students and dedicated teachers of the Sri Sathya Sai Higher Secondary School for this year's brilliant results.

You could see detail Results above.

Thank you and Loving Sairam,

What is the fastest way to realise the Divine and whom should we consider as friends and guides in this path? Bhagawan explains today.

Today’s Sai Inspires fro...m Prasanthi Nilayam, Sunday, May 24, 2015

The world is a scriptural text. Time is a great preacher. There is no greater teacher than your heart. God is the greatest friend. With full faith in these four entities, lead your life on this earth. Prema (love) is the natural possession of every human being. It is the fruit of the tree of life. There are certain impediments to taste a fruit. You first have to remove the skin and the rind covering the pulp inside and also cast off the seed. The fruit of love is covered by the thick skin of ego. You have to peel off this skin of ‘mine’ and ‘thine’. Then only you can taste the sweet juice. That is why the Vedas describe God as Raso Vai Saḥ (Supreme Sweet Essence). So develop pure love, and through it establish unity with the Divine. The path of love is the shortest and the fastest road to realize the Divine.

- Divine Discourse, July 17, 1997.

There is no nobler quality in the world than love. Love is wisdom. It is righteousness. It is wealth. It is Truth.-BABA.

Memories are made of such heartwarming moments...!

Sairam Dear Sisters and Brothers,

This is the story of Prashant Nalawade, who journeys through life as a physically challenged person who is flowing with courage and determination. Though differently abled, Prashant proved himself quite capable maintaining his job at Deccan Education Society at F C Road while maneuvering himself 9 kms on his hand-cycle to his place of work from his home at Karvenagar Wadarvasti.

His struggle was known to Beloved Bhagawan... ...and...at the right time a shower of Divine Grace embraced Prashant's life when... Sai Hands (Hands of Sai) stepped in empowered by an angelic endeavour to ease out his hardship and smoothen his existence.

On Thursday, 21st May 2015, Prashant's dream came true!
It was celebration time!
Bhajans expressing gratitude to Bhagawan were held and during the course of the evening a brand new Activa was handed over to Prashant.

All hearts were full of delight, even more so when, with tears of joy Prashant revealed that during his childhood, a lady would visit the Home for the Physically Challenged at Wanawrie and hold Balvikas lessons, at that time, he too had the good fortune to attended these classes.

Public service schemes initiated by Bhagawan Sri Satjhya Sai Baba would continue

Admitting that the towering presence of Sri Sathya Sai Baba was being missed, trustee of the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust, Puttaparthi, R.J. Ratnakar, said on Thursday that the public service schemes initiated by the Baba would continue unhindered. Addressing a press conference on his maiden visit to the city, he said that none of the existing schemes was withdrawn or the pace reduced since Baba’s demise in 2011. “On the contrary, we are going ahead by upgrading the standards,” said Mr. Ratnakar. According to him, the central trust has pumped in Rs. 60 crore to upgrade the facilities at the two super-speciality hospitals located at Puttaparthi and Whitefield in Bengaluru.

“This apart, we are launching a new state-of-the-art research facility at the Sathya Sai University with an initial investment of Rs. 20 crore,” he said.

On new services pertaining to coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh, Mr. Ratnakar said that the central trust would be spending Rs. 80 crore for setting up 100 RO (reverse osmosis) plants in 100 villages across the State. “We have identified 14 villages in Srikakulam, 18 in Visakhapatnam, and 12 in Vizianagaram. A couple of them have already become functional and work ist under way on the other projects,” he said.

He did not rule out setting up of a few more super-speciality hospitals in other districts and states.

What is the true purpose of worship and spiritual discipline? Bhagawan elucidates by defining the path of devotion.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Saturday, May 23, 2015

The attitude of the worshipper and the worshipped is the seed of devotion (bhakthi). First, the worshipper’s mind is attracted by the special qualities of the object of worship. The worshipper tries to acquire these special qualities. This is spiritual discipline (Sadhana).

In the early stages of spiritual discipline, the distinction between worshipper and worshipped is clear, but as the sadhana progresses, it diminishes and, when attainment is reached, there is no distinction whatsoever. Whatever be the object of worship that you love and seek through sadhana, have firm faith that you and He are one. You must entertain only one wish: the realisation of the Lord (Iswara Sakshatkara). Give no room in the mind for any other wish. Then regardless of joy and sorrow, without any worry about your own satisfaction, you will engage in spiritual discipline firmly, uninterruptedly, with full conviction; and once you understand the Reality, you will have full contentment.

Prema Vahini, Ch 39.

Advaita, Dvaita and Visistadvaita are said to be three different approaches to understand God and creation. But what are these and are they really different? Bhagawan gives a lucid explanation today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Friday, May 22, 2015

Everything is suffused with love (Prema). So we can unhesitatingly declare that the Supreme Lord is the form of love (prema-swarupa).

In all living things, love manifests itself in various forms and is known throug...h many names such as love for offspring, affection, devotion to God, desire (vaatsalya, anuraaga, bhakthi, ishtam) etc., based on the direction in which it is channelised. But whatever the form, the essence is the same. On the basis of this knowledge and experience, it is clear that the supreme Lord is the inner Atma of all created things (Sarva-butha-antar-atma). That which teaches the highest knowledge of this unity is known as nondualism (a-dvaitha); that which teaches the principle of the lover and the Loved is known as dualism (dvaita); that which teaches about all three, love, lover, and loved — or nature (prakriti), individual (jiva), and Brahman— is known as qualified nondualism (visishta-advaita). But these three are one.

- Prema Vahini, Ch 38.

SAI GEETHA: A MYSTIFYING TALE OF UNMATCHED LOVE

A Special article from our Archive on Sai Geeta’s 8th Anniversary.

"The bond between Swami and Geetha strengthened day by day and her unwavering devotion to Swami was an inspiration which no one could easily ignore. Whenever Swami used to go to Brindavan for long periods in those years, He would also make arrangements for Sai Geet...ha’s stay near His residence in Bangalore. On most occasions, Sai Geetha would walk the way to Bangalore, escorted by her caretakers and Sai volunteers, with proper rest stations arranged for her at appropriate distances along the route.

An indelible part of Bhagavan’s life story, Sai Geetha’s moments and movements on this earth were closely intertwined with her beloved’s. Sai Geetha’s more than four decades of association with Swami is not only a love story, but also a tale which in its every facet demonstrates how inseparable the bond of pure love can be."

Discourses excerpts worth reading 10 times - Swami clarifies so many things for organization members

1. "There are many who go about the country, preaching about japa and dhyaana, pretending to be highly advanced experts. They claim to be masters, so that they can collect huge audiences and show off their skills. But, such exhibition of talent is not a sign of spiritual attainment. Spiritual attainments shun publicity. Spiritual practice is to be done in silence, away from public gaze. The name and form of God are extolled by Meera as Precious Gems;" precious gems are not brought out as wares to the market place; only vegetables .are so exhibited for all to see. The Units of our Organisation should not encourage pomp or show---for they are alien to the Spiritual Path."

2. "You must have the firm belief that the aim of this Organisation is to remove the obstacles that keep man away from God, that separate maanavathwa (humanity) from Maadhavathwa (Divinity). There can be no human; it is all Divine. This Organisation must elevate the human into the Divine. There are certain persons in our Organisation who revel in factions and who dwell on differences; there are others who have no faith in it and its task, others have no enthusiasm for work, they are full of envy or malice. When you water a margosa tree, you cannot get the sweet mango from it. Pour the water of Devotion to the tree of saadhana; you will get the sweet fruit of Bliss."

3. "Where is the need for money for Bhajan, for Dhyaan and for Nagarasankeerthan? For Nagarasankeerthan, you require only legs to move, tongues to sing and hearts to receive the Name of God. For special purposes and on special occasions, funds are collected only from Members of the Samithi. This has been the rule from the very beginning; it is the very basis of this Organisation. For all other activities, you need no funds. You need only a loving heart, a pure heart, a wide heart."

4. "In some places, there are Units which do not carry on any activity. Or, if they do, the activities are quite contrary to the principles and practice of the Prashaanthi Nilayam or to the Rules laid down for the Organisation. Wherever there are such Units, the State President or the District President must take steps immediately to remove them from the Organisation. In some Samithis, members do not attend meetings, even 50 per cent of them. They are absent for 100 per cent of the meetings. Some Samithis do not hold meetings at all, so that no one can calculate the percentage of attendance. It is for such Units that Rules and Regulations are imperative. If rules are not observed as laid down, the Organisation will come down in confusion. This is the opportunity to tell you of some other faults too. Some Units are established with the sole purpose of earning money for the promoters. When a certain name or person is known all over the world and revered by all, such men are tempted to utilise that name for filling their own pockets or for earning name and fame for themselves by associating their activities with that name. This is natural strategem. A number of such persons are found to emerge everywhere. When this happens, the Organisation gets a bad name."

5. "It is also laid down strictly that those who are in our Organisation should not have any connection with other Organisations of spiritual or religious character. Of course, so far as service is concerned, members should help and serve all, without distinction. Every one in distress deserves help. But no member of the Samithi should have any connection with other such institutions or societies. For example, there may be a Sai Samaaj (Sai society) in your locality. "Sai is Sathya Sai; Sathya Sai is Sai." I have declared often and you know it and have realised its truth. Why then, you may ask, is the Sai Samaaj distinct from the Sathya Sai Samaaj? Well, this body with the name Sathya Sai, has full authority over all institutions established under this Name. For the Sai Samaaj, there is no Body with that Name to hold and exercise authority and so, if funds are collected, used or misused, this Body has no control over the Sai Samaajs in a tangible manner. So, it is best to keep the two distinct and allow those Societies to go their own way. There are a number of other institutions also started and run by Swaamis of various types. If we have any who associates with these, I ask the District and State President to remove them immediately. Though people can revere and worship whomsoever they like, we should not have in the Organisation men with dual loyalties. Only those with faith and devotion to this Name and Form can carry out its objectives with zest and enthusiasm."

1. "If you seek to fulfil low desires, why come here? Come here only if you seek to earn Grace. Go to a hospital only when you are resolved to take the drug the physician prescribes and go through the regimen he lays down. So, obey the directions that I give, whatever others may say or however difficult they may appear to be. You have not come to Prashaanthi Nilayam to please those others; you have come to please Me. I am not pleased by formal compliance, by external marks of devotion. I insist on real faith, inner compliance, heart-felt devotion. I insist on your observance of all the rules and regulations which you ask others to observe. "

2. "Prashaanthi Nilayam is the spiritually uplifting centre for the whole world; devotees from all over the world are here, so, the slightest mistake or wrong committed by you will be the talk of the world. Your behaviour must be exemplary; every country must learn lessons from you. The foundation must not give way; you must be strong and steady, sincere and straight. Nor should you suffer from conceit, that you have been chosen to exercise authority over others. People of all ages, of all states of health and wealth, of various levels of learning and intelligence come to Prashaanthi Nilayam. This Prashaanthi Nilayam is also the refuge for all who have no other place to go to. Do not treat any one as an alien. Remember all have Me as their guardian and support. Have no anger, malice, envy or pride against or before any one. Be full of humility; have faith in human goodness."

THESE TWO EXCERPTS PLUS DOZENS OF GUIDELINES FOR THOSE WORKING IN PRASANTHI NILAYAM, ESP AS VOLUNTEERS AND EMPLOYEES, IS GIVEN IN THE DISCOURSE ON 22-09-1968

I 'SAW' Swami, but was it in the way He wanted me to 'SEE' Him?

Dear all,

I came across this blog by a current student of the Ananthapur campus and her experiences (along with that of a few other girls) in the previous year (2014-2015) makes such an insightful, powerful and poignant reading.

So, I make an exception to share her blog in three parts. read it. You will surely shed tears at least once during the whole read is what I estimate! :). Yes! The protagonist did indeed see Swami physically!!!!!!!!

Without further ado, here are the 3 parts:

Who needs liberation and how can we get it? Bhagawan lovingly and assertively reminds us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Thursday, May 21, 2015

The jivi (individual self) believing that it is divided from the whole, the Universal, is subject to desire and despair, love and hate, grief and joy, and is attracted by the world of name and form. Such a person is characterised as ‘bound’, and urgently needs liberation. To be liberated, you must give up dependenc...e and attachment to the creation (prakriti). The blind cannot be saved by the blind. How can a person who is as helpless as the other, remove their poverty, suffering, and pain? The poor approach the affluent; the visually impaired seek guidance from those that can see. So too, one who is bound and blinded by the dualities of creation must take refuge in the inexhaustible treasure of compassion, power, and wisdom, namely, the Divine Soul (Atma). Then, you will be rid of destitution and grief, and revel in the wealth of spiritual bliss (Ananda).

MUST-READ DISCOURSE FOR ANY VOLUNTEER/SEVADAL MEMBER:

Aravind Balasubramanya

"MINISTER Savant and Mukundha Prabhu described to you the functions of a volunteer. But, while rumina...ting over them each one of you must find the answer to four questions.

Why have I been selected as a volunteer‬?
What have I to do?
For what immediate purpose?
What is the ultimate goal?

These have to be well thought over. The word for volunteer used here is "Swayam Sevak" (Servant of Myself) meaning that you have chosen yourself to be the servant. Servant for whom? Swayam...that is to say, of yourself, you serve your own best interests by serving others. You do not serve others; you ‪‎serve‬ yourself."

What is an important step we must pay attention to, as we adore and worship the Lord of our Hearts? Bhagawan lovingly and emphatically reminds us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Wednesday, May 20, 2015

People worship the Supreme Lord (Paramatma) as existing in some faraway place – say Ayodhya or Dwaraka and nowhere else, or as found in places where some image or picture exists and nowhere else. They worship that form itself as complete (Purna). Of course, ...it is not wrong to do so. What is wrong is to proclaim that only their belief is the truth, that the names and forms that they have ascribed are the only names and forms of the Divine, and that all other forms and names are worthless and inferior. It should be realized that the names and forms that are the ideals of others are as dear and sacred to those others as such names and forms are to one-self. Everyone should acquire the vision that all forms of the ideal are equally valid and true, without giving room to senseless hatred. Without internalizing this wisdom, it is impossible to realize the Divine.

What is the most urgent need in the present times? Why is it important for every individual? Bhagawan lovingly explains to us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Tuesday, May 19, 2015

Though religions have distinct names and doctrines, in essence, all are one. They emphasize the common core. Unfortunately, the apparent differences amongst religions have subverted the amity of all men. All religious dogmas, except a few, can easily be harmonized and reconciled.... The experience and wisdom of great seers who expounded universal love are not appreciated, accepted, and respected. The same God is extolled and adored in various names through varied ceremonial rituals. In every age, for every race or community, God has sent prophets to establish peace and goodwill. All great people are images of God. They form one single caste in the realm of God; they belong to one nation, the divine fellowship. The principle of harmonizing is the very heart of all religions and faiths. Interest yourself in understanding the practices and beliefs of others. This cleanses your mind. Then, with a loving heart, you will attain the Divine Presence.

What are the key lessons from Scriptures that we must put into practice in our lives? Bhagawan lovingly explains to us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Monday, May 18, 2015

The scriptures are as affectionate as a mother. They teach lessons like a mother would do for her children, in conformity with the level of intelligence and the needs of time and circumstance. A mother with two children gives the strong and healthy one every item of food for which it cla...mours, but she takes great care not to overfeed the unwell child and gives it only items that can restore it soon to health. Can we, on that account, accuse mother of being partial to one and prejudiced against the other in conferring love? Scriptures also teach you the secret and value of work (karma). All must be instructed on how to transform work into beneficial activity. Yet, work is not all. Human life lasts but a moment; it is a bubble on water. Upon this ephemeral bubble of life, do not build a structure of desires and attachments. Wisdom warns that it might collapse or crumble any moment.

- Sutra Vahini, Ch 4..

Consider all your acts as worship. Duty is God, Work is Worship. – BABA.

What should we not waste our time on and what should we begin doing right now, if we haven’t already? Bhagawan, Our Loving Master, clearly gives us a message today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Sunday, May 17, 2015

Where have your good old human qualities gone? Truth, tolerance, morality, discipline - when would you accept them? Arise, awake! Establish the Kingdom Divine (Rama-Rajya), resplendent with mansions of truth, right conduct, and peace. Remember and l...earn from the rule of divine personages, and their characteristics. Quench the burning flames of ignorance, peacelessness, injustice, and envy with the waters of love, forbearance, and truth. Love your fellow brethren. Develop the feeling of mutuality. Sweep away all jealousy and anger. All of you must realise your own faults and understand that there is no use in searching for faults in others. It is a mere waste of time; it also breeds quarrels. So give up that trait. If you miss this opportunity, when will you ever do it? Don’t yield to dejection, but put an end to all the unrighteousness activities of your past. Repent sincerely and tread the path of prayer to God and doing good deeds, and develop brotherly love.

- Prema Vahini Ch 34.

Aache gaon..

Om Sri Sairam

The above scene is a part of the daily routine in many
water starved villages in India.
Fetching water is their full time occupation.
Even as their counterparts in the cities
do 'WhatsApp forwards' till they drop dead,
these poor souls yank out WhatsDown looking like water
in the far flung Wells miles away. Like the above.

The numberwalas in Govt captured it in stats -
"Only 35 per cent of Indians in rural areas have
access to potable water within their homes,
while people living in 22 per cent of rural households
have to travel more than half a kilometre
in search of potable water,(according to the 2011 census)."

We too had a first hand experience of
this WhatsDown moment.

The 29th Apr 2015 was like any other Seva day
for our small team of three from Mumbai
going to Solapur - Kawlewadi village for a water project,
till we heard about one Aache gaon from another team member.
The village was shown in a Marathi TV channel the day before.
We heard that the lady Sarpanch of the village
broke down during the interview
capturing their horror story
due to acute scarcity of water.
The other women of the village
also joined her in highlighting the misery.

It deeply hurt us when we visualised the scene
and our helplessness was palpable.
Many such villages in Maharashtra suffer
with almost no major rescue attempts in sight.
Our job-dictated-weekend-visits have limitations
though we try our best to act as fillers here and there.

On reaching Solapur we enquired about this village
from our Sai brothers who came to receive us.
They mentioned that the village was about 23 kms away
and not one of our sponsored villages.
We said that if it was not already one
we would rather add it now;
but we shall certainly visit this village Aache gaon
before we go to our planned site.

Meandering through the rough terrain
we reached the village around 11.30 am .
The Upa Sarpanch and other villagers surrounded us
and narrated their water woes non stop...

Aache gaon sign board and the villagers narrating their woes to us..

As compassionate hearing is the first step of Seva
we were all ears as the villagers went on and on..
Hiding the fact that we are more or less as clueless
as the villagers, we nevertheless asked them to
show the existing water bodies..
A short tour helped us to figure out the existing
lake in the village that was fully silted and
with almost no capacity to hold water.

The dry lake full of silt... can't hold water...our team surveying the spot for de-silting

We chalked out a plan with the Sai brothers
and initiated action on the spot to provide some relief
with tanker water on alternate days to begin with

Atlast the water tankers started distributing water after Sai Bhajan..

and extensive desilting of the lake to start forthwith
enabling it to hold most of the evasive rainwater
in the village itself, percolating down to the water table.
The technical experts on call concurred with our views.

Little efforts like this go a long way
to provide relief however small.
All that the villagers need is three/four
pots of water in a day for which they walk miles.
Many Mega projects only provide career prospects to activists
and create controversy gobbling airtime of channels
that thrive in the misery circuit. Nothing tangible comes out.
If every NGO sponsors a couple of villages
and restore dying water bodies, the evaporating
rainwater would find asylum and
make life throb again in villages.

Technical knowledge is not the issue.
If we learn to prayerfully
empathise with these poor folks ,
the right solutions will spring
naturally from the depth of the heart,
as they are instinct driven and
not so much intellect driven.
It happens for sure unless
we are spiritually inert and lack faith.

After a Bhajan session and prayers
the water tanker was inaugurated.
The lake will soon be desilted and hold
abundant rainwater.
The channel which prime-timed their misery
may or may not cover this. No need.

After all, we the low key sevaks
don't make good prime time story.
But the media-unfriendly that we are
feel blissful, if our little efforts
save even one poor woman's long haul
to fetch water from miles away.
For us She is 'Mother India' in Misery.

And we continued our journey
towards Kawle wadi for yet another battle
as scheduled...

Find water. Give life. Before its too late.

What is the royal path to our destination to achieve oneness with the Lord? Bhagawan teaches us an important lesson as we face each day.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Saturday, May 16, 2015

Your inborn desires and impressions (samskaras) make or mar you, the individual (jivi). The Samskaras are the steps that take all individual souls to the goal. Your thoughts make you experience and wade through gain, loss and grief. Only through noble thoughts and righteous actions you can attain the Lord. So, every individual must be fully engaged in good action (sath-karmas). Righteous Conduct is the most authentic form of worship (puja). It is the best form of remembering the Lord. It is the highest devotional song. It spreads love, without distinction and difference. When one’s duty is done righteously and selflessly, it becomes a loving service to the Lord. Be engaged in such noble actions (karmas). Revel uninterruptedly in the thoughts of the Lord. This is the royal road to the goal you have to reach.

- Prema Vahini, Ch 29.

Your heart is the seat of selfless love. That love must express itself, to begin with, in all your homes.-BABA.
