What is the secret to continue to live joyfully in surrender, during highs and lows? Bhagawan very sweetly explains to us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Saturday, March 7, 2015

A time may come when you become tired and weak. Then you should pray thus: “Lord, things are beyond my capacity. I am finding it difficult to do any effort. Please give me strength!” At first, God stands at a distance, watching your efforts, like the invigilator teacher watching st...udents write answers during examination. Then when you shed attachment to sensual pleasures (bhoga) and take to good deeds and selfless service, God comes nearer to you. Like the Sun, He waits outside your closed door. Like a servant who knows their master’s rights and their own limitations, God doesn’t bang the door but simply waits outside. When one opens the door just a little, like the Sun, God rushes in and promptly drives darkness out from within. So all you need is the discrimination (viveka) to pray and the spiritual wisdom (jnana) to remember Him.

- Prema Vahini, Ch 1.

Ride safe on the raging waters of samsara (worldly life); be a witness, do not crave for the fruit of action, leave the consequences of all acts to God’s Will. He is the doer; you are but the instrument. - BABA

HOLY HOLI

A Radio Sai Special Facebook Cover for the Colourful Festival Holi!

Holi festival commemorates the victory of good over evil, brought about by the burning and destruction of the Demoness named Holika. Holi got its name as the "Festival of Colors" from Lord Krishna, who liked to play pranks with His friends by drenching them in water and colours. This is traditional festival of joy through which people immersed in absolute bliss! The Festival of Holi officially celebrated in spring, on the month of Falguna.

The legend usually associated with Holi revolves around the wicked king Hiranyakasipu whose son Prahlada was a devotee of Lord Vishnu. When the king tried to prevent his son from worshipping Lord Vishnu, with the aid of his sister Holika, who had a boon that made her immune to the effects of fire, his plan backfired and Prahlada escaped unscathed while Holika was burnt to death. Thus, Holi is the day of victory over the evil forces.

It is a Festival to share Supreme Joy (Paramananda) and Swami says – “Plant the seeds of Love in your hearts. Let them grow into trees of Service and shower the sweet fruit of Ananda. Share the Ananda with all.”

Let this Holi brings new colours in our life and let us spread the colour of selfless love among all. Let this bright Holi removes all kind of darkness and fill every heart with its supreme joy. Let us celebrate this colourful Holi festival with our beloved Bhagawan and pray for a bright future of His children.

Holi Special Wallpapers from Radio Sai( 5th Mar 2015)

Swami often exhorts all to, ‘See Good’. In obedience to this command, Swami’s devotees fill their homes, office desks and even vehicles with pictures of our beloved Bhagawan or any divine form that inspires good thoughts and feelings. One glance at a picture of Swami with a benevolent smile or a deep meaning gaze, can lift our spirits, enthuse and encourage us. But today, the wave of technology has swept into our lives, and our computers, tablets and mobiles have become our windows to the world at large. So it is quite understandable that we would love to adorn the displays of these gadgets too, with images that can inspire in us noble and sublime feelings.

We hope you enjoy this latest offering from Prasanthi Nilayam.

Is devotion, wisdom and spiritual life different? Do we attain these at different points in time in our life? Bhagawan removes all confusions and clearly explains to us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Thursday, March 5, 2015

Spiritual practices should be done consistently with an ever expanding heart full of devotion and spiritual wisdom. There is no distinction between devot...ion to God (bhakthi) and spiritual wisdom (jnana). Just as materialisation (sa-guna) becomes formless (nir-guna), devotion becomes spiritual wisdom. I don’t agree that dedicated action (karma), devotion, and spiritual wisdom are separate. Dedicated activity is devotion and devotion is spiritual wisdom. So too, the individual soul (jiva), the Atma, and the Supreme Lord (Parameswara) are not separate; they are one and the same. Therefore, every single deed of yours must be full of the spirit of selfless service (seva), divine love (prema), and spiritual wisdom (jnana). Your life’s activities must be saturated with dedicated action, devotion to God (bhakthi), and spiritual wisdom. This is verily the yoga of the Supreme (Purushothama-yoga).

Why is cultivating virtues supreme? Why is it important in our journey to Him? Bhagawan, Our Loving Master, clearly explains to us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Wednesday, March 4, 2015

People may have performed a variety of Vedic rites and sacrifices; they might even expound the contents of vedas and scriptures; they may be endowed with prosperity, own vast wealth and heaps of grain. But without moral character, they cannot earn a place in the Kingdom of God. Virtues are the most effective means for purifying the inner consciousness, for they prompt the person to discover what to do and how to do it. Only those who have earned good destiny can claim their excellence in discrimination.

Adherence to virtues and discrimination is the raft that will ferry you across the ocean of flux and fear (bhava sagara). The person of virtues is automatically granted a place in the Kingdom of the Liberated. Whatever residual activity the virtuous person is engaged in, the impact of that activity will not impinge them. They will merge in Brahman, the embodiment of Supreme Bliss.

- Sutra Vahini, Ch 1.

Life must be spent in accumulating virtue and safeguarding virtues, not riches. - BABA.

How to shine forth with the effulgence of the Divinity within? Bhagawan lovingly explains this profound concept today using a very simple example.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Tuesday, March 3, 2015

A matchstick produces fire. Where is the fire? Is it in the matchstick or the matchbox? Fire is latent in both and it is ignited when the stick and box come in contact. Similarly effulgence latent in the heart and the mind emerges as Divinity when the heart and the... mind act in unison. Just as the same fire is latent in the matchbox and matchstick, the effulgence encased in the mind and the heart is the same. If the matchstick is dipped in water, no fire emanates from it, as the matchstick loses its capacity to aflame.

Similarly, the human mind sunken in materialistic desires, loses its capacity to radiate the Divine Atmic splendour. When the matchstick is dried in the sun, it regains its original capacity. Similarly, the human mind steeped in sensual pleasures, regains its original potency and radiates divine effulgence when it is dried in the sun of detachment (Vairagya).

- Divine Discourse, Summer Showers in Brindavan 1993, Ch 6.

The spiritual path is the path of detachment, of sense control, and of rigorous mind training. -BABA

Athi Rudra Maha Yagna, 2015, Brindavan - Day 1

Whitefield, Bengaluru - 01 03 2015

The first session of Athi Rudra Maha Yagna at Brindavan, Whitefield, Bengaluru, began on 1st March 2015 at 0900 hrs with chanting of Vedic hymns in Trayee Mandir by 121 Rithwiks, who were designated to perform this Yagna from 01 03 2015 to 12 03 2015, under the directions of the Chief Priest Sri Nanjunda Dixit.

After Veda chanting, Sri V Srinivasan, Trustee, Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust and the Chief Priest addressed the gathering and outlined the significance of this important event, which was earlier performed at Prasanthi Nilayam and Chennai, in the Divine Presence of Veda Purusha- Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. After these two brief talks, clothes were presented to all the priests, which they would wear for conducting the Yagna. The morning program concluded with Arathi at 11 am.

The afternoon session started at 1530 hrs. After the ceremonial procession with Bhagawan’s palanquin along with the Linga came from Trayee Mandir to Sai Ramesh Hall lead by Musicians, Veda chanting and Bhajan singing groups of students and all the Rithwiks carrying Poornakhumbam. The program in Sai Ramesh Hall began after Lighting of Sacred Lamps by the Chief Priests and some Dignitaries.

The first speaker was Sri Lakshminarayana, Managing Trustee, Sri Sathya Sai Sadhana Trust extending a hearty welcome to one and all. Sri Lakshminarayana referred to the Yagna performed at Prasanthi Nilayam at 2006 and observed that Bhagawan wanted the youth to involve in such sacred activities to lead them to spiritual path.

The second speaker was Sri K Chakravarthi, Trustee, Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust. Referring to rituals conducted in the Athi Rudra Maha Yagna, Sri Chakravarthi explained the meaning of these rituals, which could lead to spiritual oneness of the world. This, he said was the real purpose of performing such sacred Vedic rituals.

Sri V Srinivasan, Trustee, Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust, spoke next, who reminisced about the old memories of Bhagawan’s countless visits to Brindavan and reminded that the performance of this Yagna at this sacred place had great spiritual significance. This Yagna, he said, was the result of Bhagawan’s Divine Sankalpa and therefore we should derive full spiritual benefit from it by faith and devotion. The last speaker was the Chief Priest, Sri Nanjunda Dixit, who underlined the great spiritual significance of this Yagna in which not only those, who chant mantras but all those who participate in this derive great spiritual merit.

After these speeches, the priests performed worship of the Linga by many rituals and many offerings on it amidst chanting of Vedic mantras.

This was followed by the Divine Discourse of Bhagawan which was aired on the public address system. In His discourse, Bhagawan highlighted the greatness of Indian culture and said that Athi Rudra Maha Yagna presented the quintessence of the Krishna Yajurveda. Veda chanting, Bhagawan added, was not limited to any particular community or country; it was for all, belonging to all race and nations. Bhajans and distribution of Prasadam followed Bhagawan’s discourse. The program came to a close with Arathi at 1930 hrs.

How can we transform our mundane life into a prayer to the Divine? Bhagawan explains to us in a memorable manner today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Monday, March 2, 2015

A piece of mysorepaak (an Indian delicacy made of gram flour) has sweetness, weight, and shape; the three cannot be separated from the other. Each little part of it has all these three aspects. When it is placed on the tongue, taste is recognised, weight is lessened, and shape is modified - all at the same time. So too, the individual soul (jiva), the Atma, and the Supreme Lord (Parameswara) are not separate; they are one and the same. “I am the worshiper. The world is the offering. God is the Master who is worshiped.” Hold this vision high before the mind’s eye every day and lead your life accordingly. Then your life is one long unbroken service to the Lord. Over time, the feeling of I and You will soon disappear; all trace of self will be destroyed. Life then transmutes itself into a veritable devotion to the Lord (Hariparayana).

- Prema Vahini, Ch 1.

Sri Sathya Sai Paediatric Orthopaedic Conference 2015,

The Paediatric Lower Limb- Challenges, February 28th – March 1st, 2015.
Prasanthigram, 28 02 2015

The Orthopaedics department of Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences, Prasanthigram, is organizing the Sri Sathya Sai Paediatric Orthopaedic Conference on the topic of “The Paediatric Lower Limb - Challenges”. The two-day conference is being attended by around 100 delegates and faculty members from across the country.

Being a Paediatric Orthopaedic conference, the conference focuses on ailments in the lower limbs of children. The topics include Paediatric lower limb trauma, Perthe’s disease, knee, ankle and foot deformities in children. The conference will feature four live surgeries pertaining to the above ailments and a workshop on Ponseti’s method of treatment of Clubfoot deformity.

The objectives of the conference include clinical-radiological assessment of common lower limb ailments in children, decision making in common lower limb ailments of children considering their age, severity of disease, post surgery follow up and rehabilitation among others.

Speaking at the inauguration of the conference Sri K. Chakarvarthy, Trustee, Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust said that it is of no use to say that the primary health care is poor in this country, the tertiary healthcare is non-existent, but we should all do our little effort in providing relief to the suffering poor. “This is the reason why Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba started this hospital. Even when He inaugurated this hospital, Bhagawan mentioned that such a tertiary care hospital, which provides treatment free of charge, is possible,” Sri Chakravarthy said. “The problem in the country is of high cost of medical education. It is a vicious cycle, students pay high fee and then seek high remuneration from their jobs and this eventually leads to the high financial burden on the patients, and there need to be a way out of this, ” he added.

Addressing the delegates the Director of Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences, Prasanthigram- Dr Choudary D. Voleti said that the delegates and faculty members, who have come for the first time to the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences, should look around and see for themselves this citadel of health care established by Bhagawan Baba, because there is no hospital like this anywhere. “What is lacking in society today is charity. One of the reasons why Bhagawan Baba established this hospital is to bring up the value of charity in humans,” he said.

Sri R J Rathnakar, Trustee, Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust in his talk said that when patients come to the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences for treatment it is not just treatment that happens, but becomes a spiritual experience. “It is because this hospital is filled with spirituality,” he added. Bhagawan Baba has so perfectly fashioned this temple of healing that it will continue to serve the humanity for ages to come. “And though Bhagawan Baba always gave everything free he never compromised on quality. The equipment and manpower that Swami’s hospitals have are the best and comparable to any top hospital across the country or the world,” he said. He appealed to the delegates to come back sometime and be a part of the health mission established by Bhagawan Baba.

Sri G S R C V Prasad Rao, Secretary of Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust also attended the inaugural session.

Across the lunch that followed after the inaugural session, a delegate who admired the functioning of the hospital without a “Billing or Cash department” expressed, “No wonder, the delegates and faculty members attending this conference are also not charged any fee for Registration, Boarding, Lodging and Transportation, as elsewhere being done ! ”.

In the afternoon session the delegates witnessed two live surgeries.

Antaranga Sai - In His Own Unique Nature

GOD is inscrutable. He cannot be realised in the outer objective world; He is in the very heart of every being. Gemstones have to be sought deep underground; they do not float in mid-air. Seek God in the depths of yourself, not in tantalising, kaleidoscopic Nature. The body is granted to you for this high purpose; but, you are now misusing it, like the person who cooked his daily food in the gem studded gold vase that came into his hands as an heirloom.

(An excerpt from - Divine Discourse, 19th June, 1974 in Brindavan.)

Feel free to download this “ANTARANGA SAI” Calendar and set this as your desktop wallpaper. We should strive to realize our inner strength and salute our beloved Bhagawan for guiding, loving and caring us every moment, every second.

Radio Sai Special Photo Gallery

The Walk for Values is no regular walkathon event. Apart from seeking to raise awareness about keeping alive human values in society, the participants of this Walk are encouraged to embrace a value and pledge to consciously make it a part of their lives from thence.

The Walk has its inception at the Sri Sathya Sai School at Toronto, Canada, but now it has grown leaps & bounds into an international event, the latest being ...the walk at Noida in India, the pictures of which you see here in below photo gallery.

What is the purpose of rituals and yajnas? What is the surest way to attain immortality? Bhagawan explains so we may introspect and internalize the message.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Sunday, March 1, 2015

Today whatever good work we undertake in the world is being done in a casual manner without understanding its significance and imprinting its essence in our hearts. In the wo...rldly aspect, we do several things either to attain a high position or reputation, or just for the sake of exhibition or in the hope of some material gain. Such types of effort are temporal and will yield only transitory benefits. Of the many things that we do daily, those intended to attain self-satisfaction are very few. Self-satisfaction will result only when we have confidence in our own Self. When there is Self-confidence and Self-satisfaction, you will be able to do Self-sacrifice, resulting in Self-realisation. Thus, immortality is the result of sacrifice (tyaga). It is for this reason that all the yajnas and other rituals in this country have been intended to symbolise sacrifice. They have a definite purpose of promoting divine strength.

- Divine Discourse, Summer Showers in Brindavan 1974, Ch 1-13.

When a drop of water falls into the ocean, it achieves immortality and infinitude.-BABA.
