...
Venkusa’s disciples who are jealous of Baba, are holding a conspiratorial meeting to air their frustration.

A DISCIPLE: We have been serving our Master with great devotion for so many years. Yet, our Master never talks nicely to us. But he talks with such love to this fellow and discusses so many important things with him.

ANOTHER DISCIPLE: Yes, Bhagya, what you say is true. The same thing bothers me also.

DISCIPLE: We have studied so much more than him.

ANOTHER DISCIPLE: Yes. That is why it is difficult to bear the undue praise the Master showers on him.

Shirdi Sai Parthi Sai was a tele serial originally made in Telugu, which was later translated into many languages. This effort was a devotional offering of legendary Indian actress, Anjali Devi. Swami blessed the commencement of this project in Guru Poornima of 1998 and released it exactly a year later. The speciality of the serial is the narration of the birth and childhood of Shirdi Baba, a revelation that Swami made in the late 80s.

Radio Sai Presents:
Dasara Discourse by Sri Sathya Sai Baba at Prasanthi Nilayam - Day 04

Dasara in the Divine Presence has seen many hues over the years. From the palanquin procession and worship by sumangalis in the 1940's and 50's; Veda
... Purusha Saptaha Jnana Yajna and Prasanthi Vidwan Mahasabha from the 1960's to the Grama Seva in the new millennium (the last three continuing till this day). But what has always been an exquisite treat for those that attend Dasara in Prasanthi, is the Divine message that Bhagawan gave on all the seven days when the Vidwan Maha Sabha was convened. The Rig Veda extols the Lord as Kavim Kavinaam - the Wisdom of the Wise. What greater way to celebrate a Dasara then than to receive benediction from the embodiment of Wisdom Himself.

To mark this year's Dasara, we wish to offer you a Discourse clip on every day starting from 27 Sept 2014, the day Prasanthi Vidwan Mahasabha 2014 commences till Vijayadashami, 03 Oct. These are from discourses delivered by Bhagawan during the Dasara of the year 2002. So watch the space below for the discourse clip of the day during this entire Dasara Celebrations.

Happy and a Holy Dasara to all,

What must we offer as a sacrifice, in the sacred ceremonial altar, Yagna? Bhagawan lovingly explains to us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Tuesday, September 30, 2014

Every being is suffused with love. It is only for our convenience, for our pleasure, and our own selfish purposes that we develop certain worldly relationships. Give up selfishness and strive for self-realisation. You must enquire into yourself, “Who am I? Body, mind, intellect, chittha (memories) or ahamkara (ego)?” You are none of these. You are yourself - “I am I.” Recognise this truth. One must render selfless service. The fruit of all actions must then be sacrificed. Only a person, who denounces the fruits of all actions, deserves to be called a Yogi (renunciant). A Yogi is not one who merely sits under a tree, closes one’s eyes and meditates. Real sacrifice involves giving up your desires. Do not be narrow-minded. If you are inflicted with narrow-mindedness your whole life will become narrow. Develop broad-mindedness and cultivate selfless love.

- Divine Discourse, Sep 27, 2006.

Service expresses the Divinity hidden in a human being. It broadens one's heart, destroys narrow-mindedness and gives delight. The evil qualities and tendencies in a person can be driven away through service.

The conversation between Venkusa and Mrs. Patel continues, with the Guru promising to take full care of his
... new student.

GURU: I shall certainly look after this boy. Adi Shankara’s [Adi Shankara was a great Sage who lived two thousand years ago; Swami often quotes his famous hymn, the Bhaja Govindam] mother knew that he would leave her and felt depressed. However, realising that her son had been born solely to serve humanity, she reconciled herself to the separation. She was Shankara’s physical mother, but this boy was not born to you. Yet, the love that you have shown him is extra-ordinary. You need not have any anxiety. You can go back peacefully, and without any worry whatsoever. From today, this boy will be a resident of the Ashram.

What is the significance of celebrating the Dasara Festival? Bhagawan lovingly explains to us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Monday, September 29, 2014

The goal of celebrating the Dasara festival is to control the ten senses. Legend says that Goddess Chamundi killed the demon Mahisha during this occasion. The inner meaning of this story is that, under no circumstances, associate yourselves with demonic qualities. Always be in good company. If you join bad company, you will also become evil. Hence, never befriend a bad person. The moment you come across such people, just say ‘goodbye’ and move on. You need not develop hatred towards them. Whomever you come across, consider them as embodiments of Divinity and salute them. Even when you come across people who hate you, offer your salutations (pranams) to them and ask them, “How are you brother?” Then they too will respond in the same manner. A human being is one who is endowed with human values and also exhibits them. Always speak truth and observe righteousness (Dharma). Be peaceful. Be happy and blissful.

- Divine Discourse, Sep 27, 2006.

Love is selflessness and selfishness is lovelessness.-BABA.

What is the fundamental truth that we must not mistake, in our daily lives? Bhagawan lovingly explains us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Sunday, September 28, 2014

You are wasting your precious time thinking that all that you see in this objective world is true. No! None of these objects is real. Truth is eternal and is beyond the three periods of time - past, present and future. That Truth is Divinity. God is only one, now and forever. How foolish it is to think that the worldly vision which is subject to change from time to time is real. You are a student today. Tomorrow you will become an officer in an Organization and few years later you will be a retired officer. Then, which is true? Is it the life as a student or as an officer or as a retired official? Thus, all that you see in this objective world and all the relationships between individuals are only temporary, never real and permanent. Divinity is not like that. Recognise the Truth that the Divine is omnipresent - yesterday, today and tomorrow.

- Divine Discourse, Sep 27, 2006.

You are a fragment of the Divine. This is the greatest truth all of you must realize fully. - BABA.

What is Liberation? When and how can we achieve it? Bhagawan lovingly clarifies for us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Saturday, September 27, 2014

Do not see, speak or hear what is evil. You must only see what is good, hear and speak what is sacred. These may seem simple maxims but are full of profound significance. Constantly discriminate between negative and positive actions. All bad and unwholesome actions are negative in character, eschew them altogether. Your mind must be filled with good thoughts, your hearts should be filled with compassion, and your hands must be engaged in selfless service. You will be caught up in negative behavior, as long as you identify yourself with the body. The moment you consider yourself as the master of the senses, your actions will be positive. Mastery of the senses leads to liberation. Liberation is not something to be achieved after life. Striving for liberation must start early in life and proceed continuously, until you are free from the bondage to the senses. Carry on all duties without attachment to the fruits thereof.

- My Dear Students, Vol 5, Ch 3, Feb 15, 1998.

Fill your heart with the light of Love so that the evil qualities of hate, greed and conceit find no place therein. -BABA

THE TRUE SPIRIT OF DASARA

http://media.radiosai.org/journals/Vol_06/01OCT08/02-ssspeaks.htm

The celebration of Dasara in the Divine Presence of Bhagavan Baba every year is unique as it is accompanied by a week-long sacred yagna (sacrifice). Even more significant is the fact Bha
...gavan often speaks on many occasions during this celebration revealing many salient spiritual truths. One such discourse was delivered on October 6, 1992, on the last day of the celebration, called Vijaya Dasami Day. Here is an extract from that profound message. Let us recapitulate these words of Bhagavan as we rejoice in the Dasara celebrations of this year which starts from 25th of September.

All things in the cosmos are limbs of the body of Vishnu (God). Hence, no one should have any aversion to anything in the universe. You should not hate anyone, because the same Divine is present in you and in everything in the universe.

The cosmos has three forms: the gross, the subtle and the causal. The physical universe represents the gross form. The subtle form is the mind, and subtler than the mind is the Atma.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Friday, September 26, 2014

In the drama of life, some act on the basis that nothing belongs to them and that, whatever words one utters or whatever action one does, all belong to God and nothing is their own. They play their role in this spirit, ascribing nothing to oneself. The other category are those that are like the actors who are conscious of the role they are playing and do not forget their individuality in their actions. They do not consider themselves as merely acting a part but as the doer. The difference between the two is that while the former realises the temporary nature of the part being played and is not attached to the things connected with the role, the other develops attachment to the role and does not wish to part with things connected with the role. Presently, most people suffer from the possessive attitude. The reason is the failure to use the senses properly and enslavement to the desires prompted by them. Train your sense organs only to perceive sacred things and abstain from indiscriminate enjoyment.

- My Dear Students, Vol 5, Ch 3, Feb 15, 1998.

Reining in your senses is the sign of growing in wisdom.

DISCOURSE QUIZ ON DASARA YAJNAM

http://media.radiosai.org/journals/vol_11/01OCT13/quiz.htm

One of the unique aspects of the Dasara celebration in Prasanthi Nilayam is the Veda Purusha Sapthaha Jnana yajna – the sacrif
...ice undertaken according to Vedic injunctions. During this seven-day ritual, every evening there are talks by scholars, but the highlight of these sessions is the message of Bhagawan Baba. Over the past several decades Swami has delivered innumerable discourses explaining in detail the significance of every aspect of this Vedic sacrifice; He has revealed amazing secrets of this ancient ceremony in a manner only He can.

This quiz is an attempt to relive some of these messages and utilise them effectively to transform our lives.

According to Swami: “There is no greater gift than the gift of food to the hungry, there are no greater gods than one's parents, there is no higher dharma than compassion, no more profitable acquisition than the company of the good, no worse enemy than anger, no worse disease than debt, no worse death than infamy, no higher merit than ......................”

A. Performing yajnas

B. Teaching Bal Vikas children

C. Remembering the Lord

D. Tending to animals

THE DIVINE STORY OF SHIRDI SAI PARTHI SAI - Part 05

http://media.radiosai.org/journals/Vol_03/05MAY01/ssps.htm

...

After the death of Patel, his wife struggles hard to bring up her boy. Young Sai continues to be a ‘problem child’. One day, Sai and His friends are getting ready to play a game of marbles. They are choosing the order in which the boys would play. The game involves placing some marbles within a circle drawn on the ground and knocking this collection with another marble thrown from a distance, somewhat like in modern bowling.

What is the root cause of all difficulties and suffering? What should we do to experience happiness? Bhagawan explains to us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Thursday, September 25, 2014

People today repose their faith in the ephemeral and unreal world, and forget God who is the embodiment of truth. This is the root cause for all sorrows and difficulties faced by humanity. You say you are encountering difficulties. From where did they come? Difficulties are the consequences of one’s past deeds and thoughts. Everything in this world is susceptible to change. God is the only changeless principle. What is human life for, after all? Is it merely for eating, drinking, sleeping and ultimately dying? In doing so, can the human life be termed as sacred? At the time of birth everyone is pure and sacred. As they grow old, they gradually lose this purity. This is improper! One must always maintain one’s purity. Install the changeless and eternal God in the altar of your sacred heart and offer your love to Him. Thereby, you can experience bliss. This is the foremost duty of every human being.

- Divine Discourse, Sep 27, 2006.

NECTAROUS NAVARATHRI

A Special Radiosai facebook Timeline cover to Celebrate Auspicious Navaratri festival and full program schedule of Dasara Celebration 2014.

Since the 1940s, Navaratri has been an important festival at Puttaparthi. Over the years the festival has changed and

As of today, Navaratri in Puttaparthi is marked by three major events - the Veda Purusha Saptaha Jnana Yajna, the Prasanthi Vidwan Mahasabha and the Sri Sathya Sai Gramaseva. The yajna pertains to the act of upasana or worship, the Vidwan Mahasabha which is a series of scholarly talks, seeks to enlighten the intellect, and the Gramaseva is a means to use one's physical strengths and energies for the service of the needy.

Thereby the celebrations encompass the spiritual triad of Bhakti, Jnana and Karma (devotion, wisdom and action). Bhagawan Baba ensured that, all these activities, though grand, were performed with the intention of selflessness, dedication and devotion. How should we play our role in the game of life? Bhagawan lovingly reminds us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Wednesday, September 24, 2014

The whole world is a stage and every individual is an actor. The Divine Lord is the Director of the Cosmic Drama. The primary goal of every actor doing a particular role is to carry out their duty, setting aside their individuality. In a school drama, a boy may play the role of a director. While acting, he must exhibit the behavior of a director and not behave like he would in his normal daily routine; those traits must be given a back seat. Your birth as a human being is a God given gift which must be used with due care. Fill your life with righteous acts and do not misuse your talents for unholy purposes. Your life will have a mixture of good and bad, discriminate and select to play your role in a good manner wherein you manifest humanness, and thus conduct yourself worthily. Realise that every human birth is a manifestation of the Divine will.

- My Dear Students, Vol 5, Ch 3, Feb 15, 1998.

The Divine is the director of the play; He is also the actor. The Lord is both the lover and the beloved. Serve all with Love. – BABA.

Radio Sai Special Report from Prasanthi Nilayam: Sri Sathya Sai Grama Seva 2014

Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning is about to begin Sri Sathya Sai Grama Seva 2014, which is scheduled to start from SEPTEMBER 25 this year. 153 villages of the three Mandals of Anantapuram
... to be served are Puttaparthi, Kothacheruvu, and Bukkapatnam.

More than 2000 students from the four campuses of the Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning-namely Prasanthi Nilayam, Brindavan, Anantapur and Muddenahalli along with students of our Higher Secondary School will participate in this grand event. Over 50000 households will be given food and clothing during this period.

Grama Seva is an Annual event, which began under the direct guidance of Bhagawan in the year 2000. The main purpose of this project is three-fold:

1. To give assurance to the rural population that there is someone there to ‘care’ within their community

2. To sensitize the students to the needs of the community

3. To give the students exposure to project management and team-building.

Several positive changes have been observed since the inception of the Grama Seva Project in 2000.

Firstly, more students have remained in India, and have opted to work in service - oriented and non-profit organizations. Secondly, the environment of the villages has seemed to improve possibly because villagers have become more caring for their own village. For example, there have been marked improvements in the ground-water table, agricultural activity, and in overall hygiene. Thirdly, the number of uncared-for elderly villagers has also appeared to reduce significantly, perhaps because the younger generations of villagers are becoming more aware of their responsibilities.

These are only a few of the many positive changes that have been observed since the inception of Grama Seva. It is no wonder why countless villagers have expressed their gratitude for the care they receive through this project. Sri Sathya Sai Grama Seva Project is therefore a symbol of the unique aim of the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning, which is development of character.

The Yajna pertains to the act of upasana or worship; the Vidwan Mahasabha is a series of scholarly talks that seeks to enlighten the intellect; and the Gramaseva is to use one's physical strengths and energies for the service of the needy. Thereby, the celebrations encompass the spiritual triad of Bhakti, Jnana and Karma (devotion, wisdom and action). Bhagawan Baba ensured that all these activities, though grand, were performed with dedication, devotion and selflessness. That is what makes the Dasara celebrations at Puttaparthi truly worth experiencing.

Veda Purusha Saptaha Jnana Yajna is a seven day Sacrificial worship celebrated since 1960s. Bhagawan Baba had declared that Veda Poshana and Vidvat Poshana (the sustenance of the Vedas and scholars dedicated to the study of the Vedas) were part of the mission. This Yajna, which concludes on the Vijayadashami day, is conducted by Vedic scholars from Andhra Pradesh with a strict adherence to scriptural injunctions. Bhagawan would sit through the proceedings of the Yajna, for hours everyday, thereby encouraging devotees to witness this sacrifice performed for the well being of the whole world.

Prasanthi Vidwan Mahasabha is an evening session where learned scholars, devotees and students address the gathering, dilating on spiritual topics and the message of Bhagawan. This session also includes a cultural offering by His students and some exponents of music. Baba would often say that festival days must be used to concentrate on the Divine, and explore the spiritual treasures that lie within.

Sri Sathya Sai Gramaseva - Over 2000 students of Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning (SSSIHL) from the four campuses and associated establishments at Prashanthi Nilayam will participate in Grama Seva-2014. About 150 villages in the three mandals of Anantapur district; Puttaparthi, Kothacheruvu and Bukkapatnam, will be covered in the nine days. Totally around 50,000 households will be given clothes and around 3,00,000 will be given Prasadam - food and laddu.

On 25th September 2014, first day, Grama Seva will commence at 17 villages in Puttaparthi Mandal, Anantapur.

Please find the programme for Dasara Celebrations and the list of villages covered on the first day. (given below)

Radio Sai presents:
THE DIVINE STORY OF SHIRDI SAI PARTHI SAI - Part 01

Shirdi Sai Parthi Sai was a tele serial originally made in Telugu, which was later trans...lated into many languages. This effort was a devotional offering of legendary Indian actress, Anjali Devi. Swami blessed the commencement of this project in Guru Poornima of 1998 and released it exactly a year later. The speciality of the serial is the narration of the birth and childhood of Shirdi Baba, a revelation that Swami made in the late 80s.

http://media.radiosai.org/journals/Vol_03/01JAN01/ssps.htm

The Sai Avatar is a trilogy of three successive appearances of the Lord in three different human forms. The first appearance was as Shirdi Sai Baba. Shirdi Baba, as He is better known, was born in the nineteenth century and lived till the early part of the twentieth century. Currently, we are witness to the second Sai Incarnation which is as Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, more endearingly known as Swami. The finale would be the Lord coming as Prema Sai.

Till our Swami disclosed some of the details, very little was known about the early years of the Shirdi Avatar.

Devamma, is this true? I know you always speak the truth and that there is none so good and noble like you. Yet, I have a doubt about what you are now saying. Even great devotees of the Lord don’t get such a boon; how then can we ordinary persons enjoy such Grace?

The great devotee Ramdas struggled so hard to have the vision of Lord Rama. Are we better than Ramdas?

Saint Tyagaraja was ceaselessly chanting the name of Rama and contemplating about Him. But did Rama grant the Saint Darshan so easily? These people were immersed in single-pointed devotion, totally detached from the world.

Devamma, how am I to believe that you got so easily the Darshan that these people could not, in spite of so much effort?

What is the true mark of devotion? Bhagawan lovingly explains to us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Tuesday, September 23, 2014

Every human being has a heart. Your heart is already filled with love. With how many are you selflessly sharing the love in your heart? Not many! What then is the use of love, if it is not shared? You must share all the love present in your heart with every being in creation. Love is the gift of God and you must share it freely in this world. This is the only way out of all the troubles and failure that people suffer. Many of you repeat the words mechanically, “May all the beings in all the worlds be happy”. To how many people are you giving happiness? Most of you are concerned with your selfish interests, have strong egos and display ostentation all the time. Whoever has imbibed precious truths from the Masters and scriptures must be filled with love. The day you root out selfishness from within, Divinity will flourish and blossom in your heart.

- Divine Discourse, Aug 30, 1993.

Love is selflessness and selfishness is lovelessness.-BABA.

Why is it an act of foolishness to deny the existence of the Divine? Bhagawan lovingly explains to us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Monday, September 22, 2014

Inside us, outside and all around there is air. But it cannot be seen, nor can it be grasped by the hand. For this reason can you deny the existence of air? How can one exist if there is no air? To deny the existence of air is to deny one's own existence. God is all-pervading. He is omnipresent. ...He transcends time, space and circumstances. God exists at a level which is in accordance to one's own level of understanding of the Divine. All the animate and inanimate objects in the world are Vishnuswarupa (manifestations of the Divine). It is foolish to look at the cosmos and deny the principle that pervades the cosmos. Equally is it not silly to look at the universe, which is the embodiment of the Divine, and deny the existence of the Divine? That is the reason why the scriptures declared: Pashyannapi na pashyathi mudho (The foolish one, even though he beholds, does not recognise).

- Divine Discourse, Sep 09, 1992.

Anger breeds danger. Ego is powerful and very dangerous. Both of these will ruin you and your character. -BABA

From Radio Sai Archives -

Swami and Me : SWEET MEMORIES By Sri K. Suresh - A Former Student of Swami’s Institute.

As the rain persisted without any respite, I began reading a book on Swami’s miracles in Africa. I was particularly drawn to an incident where two of the devotees who were driving a car on an express way at speeds over 110 km/h suddenly met with an accident. Their car was thrown out of the express way and into the bushes. The car was totally smashed and there
... was no chance that its occupants would survive such a crash. The devotees in the car however had taken the Lord’s Name on their lips at the critical juncture and had escaped unscathed.

Some moments later the interview room door opened. Swami came out and stood on the upper portico of the verandahh in the Mandir. Before I could realise Swami walked straight up to me and then paused. Gazing into my eyes He remarked –“Dunnapotha! You are talking in the verandah.”

Then after a small pause He continued, “I am here. I am in Africa. I am everywhere.” Saying this, He walked away with a nonchalant gait. Do I have to say anymore?

Six years later while I was in search for a job, a Singapore based multinational company hired me and sent me on my first assignment to guess where: West Africa !

He said - ‘If you have faith in Me, I shall wipe out your old Karma and write a new one. But faith is required.’

What is the pollution that we must fix right away with deep focus? Bhagawan lovingly explains us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Sunday, September 21, 2014

Today many are concerned about the levels of pollution in water, air and environment. Enormous amounts of time, effort and resources are spent on purifying the elements. Shouldn’t you also be equally concerned, if not more, about the pollution in human minds? Many minds and hearts are much contaminated. The dire need today is to eradicate this pollution. Many are deeply immersed in worldly pleasures and desires. As a result, there is mental dissatisfaction and bitter frustration. Turn the minds, back to the source, from where they have originated. What should a fish out of water do to survive? Can the fish thrive by immersing itself in coffee or by placing itself on the most comfortable couch? The fish will survive happily only when it returns home - water! So too, human minds must be restored to their original home, which is the Divine Self within every being. Mental peace can be attained only by turning inward.

- Divine Discourse, Aug 30, 1993.

Although love is inherently present in every cell of the human body, it does not manifest itself because of the pollution of the heart. -BABA

Radio Sai Presents: A MAESTRO, HIS MANDOLIN AND HIS MODESTY
- A Tribute to Mandolin U. Shrinivas

On behalf of all of us, Prof. G. Venkataraman offers this heartfelt tribute to our dear, Mandolin Shrinivas sir.

Read the full article here: http://media.radiosai.org/journals/vol_12/01SEPT14/mandolin-srinivasan.htm

There is something very unique about Mandolin Shrinivas from a historical perspective of Carnatic music - that he introduced an instrument least likely to be chosen to expound South Indian classical music.

He was a genius in music - such a genius that the name of the instrument he played got embedded in his name. His departure will be an irreparable loss to music. While the mandolin got him all the name, fame and glory, it will not be an overstatement to say that it was ‘Shrinivas’ that brought name, fame and glory to the mandolin too. That can be seen from the brief history of the mandolin and Shrinivas’ tryst and romance with it. What the world mostly does not know is the fact that Shrinivas had no formal Guru; he was a ‘Self’-taught musician. In his case, it was literally the ‘Self’ or God who inspired and taught him.

At Radio Sai, we fondly remember Mandolin Shrinivas. Of course, we cannot forget those beautiful moments when our ears were filled with his nectarous music and our eyes feasted on Bhagawan’s beautiful form swaying to his music. But more than that, we cannot forget how he would never hesitate to tell those who appreciated him, that all his talent was a gift from his Lord. He was such an epitome of humility that he made every aspiring musician who came in his presence feel like an accomplished musician! This will be an irreplaceable loss to humanity. Little wonder that everyone - from the common man to the maestros of music have condoled his sudden demise.

Here is a portion of the instrumental piece rendered by Mandolin Shrinivas for the documentary, 'The Advent' : http://media.radiosai.org/www/mp3download/mandolin-darshan.mp3

What can we accomplish by taking the name of the Lord? Bhagawan lovingly guides us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Saturday, September 20, 2014

Once the saints Namadeva and Gyanadeva were travelling in a forest. They felt thirsty and searched for water and came across an old dried up well. Gyanadeva, who followed the path of wisdom, transformed himself into a bird and flew down, drank the water and returned. Namadeva saw this and didn’t agree with the approach. He thought that one must elevate oneself from this human birth to Divine and not the other way. So he sat at that spot and chanted the name of the Lord. Every time he did it with intensity, the level of water began to rise higher and higher and finally the well started overflowing. He comfortably drank the water and was blissful. He demonstrated clearly wisdom is useful but is not greater than Divinity. He clearly taught the precious lesson that the Name of the Lord will grant everything that one needs in life and ultimately the Divine Himself.

- My Dear Students, Vol 3, Ch 13, Mar 16, 1998.

Keep the name of the Lord always radiant on your tongue and mind; it will keep the antics of the mind under control.-BABA.

Mandolin U Srinivas passes away

Loving Sairam!

It is with a deep sense of pain and shock we wish to share with the Sai Family, that a noble devotee and an unmatched musician has concluded his earthly sojourn. Mandolin U Srinivas passed away this morning at 10 a.m in a private hospital in Chennai due to a liver complication.

Mandolin Srinivas was a child prodigy who retained his childlike innocence and humility till the very end, and we fondly remember him for that. Music can enchant us all, it heals and elevates. That music can also touch the Lord Himself. But if the same music comes from a heart that is humble and loving, it conquers the Lord. Such was this legend’s music, such was his devotion. He came to Swami when he was a tender teenager, and ever since he was always ready to offer his music at Bhagawan’s feet. We cannot forget those beautiful moments when our ears were filled with his nectarous music and our eyes feasted on Bhagawan’s beautiful form swaying to his music. He would never forget or hesitate to tell those who appreciated him, that all his talent was a gift from his Lord.

We at Radio Sai recollect the times he, without the slightest hesitation, offered his labour of love for our many projects. That never fading smile, that incredible humility, the never ending stream of encouragement and of course that ethereal music of his, will remain for ever and ever etched in all our memories.

- Team Radio Sai

Of this world he never belonged,
A saint in the truest sense,
God loaned him to this world,
For a brief spell,
To dispel as much pain and suffering
With his smile as much as with his music,
This void will remain deep and bare,
This question, an answer none can dare,
God's own Child has merged in Him,
A state of purity completely out-worldly
We who remain behind,
Will never know the heavenly symphony his soul will find.

What is the precious gift that all of us possess? What must we do to leverage it completely? Bhagawan lovingly reminds us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Friday, September 189, 2014

The birth as a human being is sacred and precious. By indulging in selfishness, people undermine their birth and the Divinity within themselves. Leading a moral life alone can sanctify this birth. God is the indweller in everyone and directs human life as one’s inner conscience. If you let selfishness grow within you, it takes the form of lust, hatred and greed. These three vices are very dangerous and demonic. When worldly desires increase, the vices grow to the extent of making you lose faith in God and even lead you to developing enmity towards God. Never go after worldly happiness which is fraught with danger, giving up the Divine who is ready to be near and dear to you. Your parents or relatives may be away from you. God is never distant from you. He is always with you, behind you and around you, and He will always protect you.

- My Dear Students, Vol 2, Ch 17, Sep 17, 1992.

Desire destroys devotion, anger destroys wisdom, greed destroys work – hence sacrifice these bad qualities. -BABA.

What can we do to let our dear Lord come alive in every action we undertake in our daily lives? Bhagawan explains to us in crystal clear terms.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Thursday, September 18, 2014

Sakhubai, an ardent devotee of Lord Panduranga, went to saint Namadeva and submitted, “Master, I make so many cow dung cakes, but people are stealing them. I need to earn a livelihood by selling these, but very little is left for me to sell. What do I do?” Nam
...adeva smilingly asked her, “How do you know that those stolen are your cow dung cakes?” Sakhubai promptly answered, “Master, I make them thinking and reciting Lord Panduranga’s name all the time; my feelings are reflected in them and they give amazing results!” She then asked Namadeva to break and listen to one cake. Everyone around Namadeva were greatly astonished to hear the inanimate cowdung cake reverberating with Panduranga’s name with the correct pitch, tune and rhythm. Mother Sakhubai said, “Not only in these cakes, but if we think of the Lord while performing every action, it will reflect and resound in the work we do!”
