PARTHI NEWS - PART 1 - SEPTEMBER 2014

What is more important than all knowledge and skill? Bhagawan lovingly reinforces today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Tuesday, September 17, 2014

Ravana was a great scholar. He mastered 64 distinct fields of knowledge, including the language of animals, birds and insects. He possessed all knowledge, wealth and prosperity that equaled heaven. He used his penance as a means to acquire mastery over the physical world, reposing his faith on the phenomenal world and not on the Creator. He chose not to enquire about the Creator of the phenomenal world. The Universe is the Creator’s property. Rama was the Creator Himself and Sita was Rama’s Power (Shakti). Ravana, giving in to lust, desire and greed, developed hatred and enmity towards Rama and abducted Mother Sita. What was the result? Not only he, but his entire kingdom was destroyed. Despite such high knowledge and prowess, he failed to recognize the Divine within and ruined himself due to a moral lapse. Thus Ramayana clearly teaches the lesson that spiritual wisdom alone saves, and is essential.

Bhagawan talks of two qualities that the Lord looks for in His devotees, two traits that are dear to Him, so that we may strive to cultivate them.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Tuesday, September 16, 2014

Dakshah is the quality of having firm determination to perform pure actions. The determination should be confined to actions that are pure, helpful to others and that sublimate you. At all circumstances, you must choose to act in a good manner and strictly refrain from any impure act. A person who can accomplish this is called Dakshah, and is very dear to the Lord. Udaseenah means the freedom from attachment. It means remaining serene and unruffled by fame or blame, peace or sorrow, loss or gain, pleasure or pain, not elated by prosperity or depressed by failure. You must never succumb to calumny, nor should you exult over fame. Fame and blame are like passing clouds; they must be treated the same. If you take them seriously, they will give rise to agitations in the mind, which may lead to demonic tendencies. Any devotee who possesses these sacred virtues is very dear to the Lord.

- Divine Discourse, August 30, 1993.

God is your nearest, dearest, most loving and most eager companion, comrade and kinsman. - BABA.

Many of us have a question in our minds, “God, when will I ever see You?” Bhagawan lovingly answers this precious yearning for us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Monday, September 15, 2014

Many people speak about getting a vision of God. This is a naïve desire. They do not realize that God is present in everything they see. Scriptures declare that the one who fails to see the Divine manifest everywhere around them is a fool. Every being, every atom in this Universe is permeated by the Divine. So you must seek to realize your own inner Divinity and also recognize the Lord in all beings. You must manifest your loving nature, not become stone-hearted. For this, you must cultivate forbearance, love and compassion, and not resort to any sinful means. Your desires can never be fulfilled if you cause harm to others. If you are full of envy, pride and ostentation you cannot please God. The Divine will respond instantly only to unsullied love, and never to wealth, power or position.

- Divine Discourse, Sep 14, 1997.

Your heart is like a big container, senses are like taps. Fill the heart with the water of Love. Only then you can experience Love through all the senses.-BABA!

How to cleanse our mind and body and maintain their purity? Bhagawan lovingly explains to us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Sunday, September 14, 2014

‘Shuchih’ means purity - it does not merely refer to the external cleanliness of the physical body. Your mind gets polluted by wrong thoughts and bad feelings. If you let your mind be continuously filled with evil thoughts, you will reap bad consequences. Hence give no room to wrong thoughts and feelings, and expel all negativity. Your body must be free from the taint of violence or harm (himsa). People commit many acts of violence and many sinful deeds with their hands; this is incorrect. The body has been given primarily for practicing righteousness (Dharma). Such a sacred gift must be used for rendering service to others. No one can refrain from action of some kind, even for a minute. Under no circumstances, should one engage in any impure act. You must achieve this purity with firm determination.

- Divine Discourse, Aug 30, 1993.

When the heart is filled with good thoughts and feelings, all that comes out of the senses - your speech, your vision and your action - will be pure. -BABA

Is it enough if we merely chant the name of the Lord? Bhagawan explains what should be the attitude with which it must be done.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Saturday, September 13, 2014

Express your gratitude to God by chanting His Name. Chant from the depth of your heart; not as a mere musical performance. The demonic King, Ravana, constantly repeated the Shiva mantra, Namah Shivaaya without giving up any of his demonic qualities. The young boy Prahlada, repeated the mantra, Om Namo Narayana with all his heart and soul. This served to save him from all the terrible ordeals his evil father, Hiranyakashipu, subjected him to. His father cast him from a precipice, had him trodden by several elephants, got him bitten by venomous reptiles and pushed him into the sea, yet Prahlada emerged unscathed from all these ordeals. Every instrument of torture turned into a blessing for young Prahlada! Hence chant the Name of the Lord from the bottom of your heart, with pleasing Him as the only goal. In this process, you must become one with the Divine. Never sing, pray or chant to earn the approbation of others or for show.

- Divine Discourse, Sep 14, 1997.

True sacrifice consists in sharing with others one’s wealth, strength and qualities, which are derived from society. - BABA.

I was fortunate to listen to our Sai Brother, V Kumar, on September 1 & 2 in Pimpri Chinchwad. It was a heavenly experience! He talks so beautiful! I have not seen such a lovely speaker in my life! He can be an idol for all Bal Vikas Gurus! He described his experiences with Baba since childhood till after Mahasamadhi in such a great way that words would fail to thank him!

Attached please find a compilation of 18 events described by Kumar about our loving Baba!

Hope, this will accelerate our spiritual progress since we know 100 % that God is with us all the time !

Best wishes,

Sai Brother V Kumar’s experience with Sri Satya Sai Baba

Mr V Kumar was a student of Sri Satya Sai college, Puttaparthi. Today he is an entrepreneur in Bangalore. He is an amazing singer. He came to Pune on September 1 & 2 , 2014 and narrated his experiences with Baba.

Part I

1.When Kumar was a child, nobody at home, believed in Baba. One day, Kumar was outside home and saw Baba entering into their Flat in Mumbai; Baba went inside the Flat through closed doors and left His photo and a chit in a locked cupboard stating, “ come to Puttaparthy”. Kumar’s Father who was working in L&T initially did not like Baba, but later on was pulled to Him.

2.Vibhuti started coming from Baba’s photo at Kumar’s house. One day out of curiosity, the young Kumar wiped off all the Vibhuti from the Photo. But then he was afraid if his parents would scold him for this act. Then he prayed to Baba to save him. Within 15 minutes, the Photo was filled up with double Vibhuti.

3. His Parents wanted Kumar to join Baba’s college in Parthi after his Std. XII for B.Com. course. But Kumar was not ready to leave Mumbai. So he gave a very funny interview @ Parthi; he said “I do not know” to all questions. But mysteriously he was selected for B. Com. course.

4. After joining College @ Parthi, Kumar wished Baba to talk to him. But Baba used  to avoid him.Kumar asked his warden how Baba would be pleased with him. The warden suggested him to do Sadhana. Kumar used to then get up early in the morning, do meditation, chant Lalita Sahstranam and other slokas. He did all this with great sincerity for 3 months, but Baba did not talk to him a single word or never came close to him. Out of frustration, Kumar decided to run away from Parthi back to Mumbai. So when all had gone from his Hostel to Prasanthi Nilayam for a morning Bhajan., he secretly went to S. T. Stand. He was about to get into the Bus, but the warden came in hurry to search him. He found him , “Baba just now came to me and told me that one of your students is trying to run away ! Catch him at S.T. Stand ! “

5. Kumar came back and started routine life. Still Baba did not talk to him. But He gave his parents an interview in which he said, “when the car came here, it was full of rust and dust … I am cleaning & repairing it! Then I shall start using the car ..”

6. After this, it so happened that Kumar developed love for Baba as a person. He used to think that Baba is with him at every moment in the college or in the Hostel. One full night, he wrote “ Baba, I love you” on sands of Prashanti Mandir [at that time, Kulwant Hall was not built]. After some weeks, Baba gave an interview to Kumar’s parents who had come from Mumbai to Parthi. At that time, Baba called Kumar to the interview room and hugged him & said, “I, too, love you! “ [From that day onwards, since 1982, there was not a single day when Baba did not talk to V Kumar! ]

7. Baba gave then a special interview to Kumar. He said, “ I am your friend, right ? Let us talk now freely ! Tell me what you did in Mumbai! “ Kumar said , “what ? I did nothing ..” Baba smiled and asked , “Did you smoke? ‘ Kumar was speechless. Then Baba materialized a photograph in which Kumar was seen smoking in old days in  Mumbai!  “Ok, what else, did you do ? you fell in love with a girl ? what was her name? “ Baba asked. Kumar was so embarrassed. Baba told the name of the girl ,,, and said in a sympathetic tone, “ oh, it was one sided love! She used not even to look at your, right ?” What Kumar would say? Everything was true! Baba then assured Kumar, “all this will be a secret between you and Me! I will not tell this to anybody, Ok ?”

Part II

8. Baba used to create vibhuti for sick students from the campus. Kumar had a desire of getting this  vibhuti from the Divine hand! So he went to hostel terrace and stood in the hot Sun for 2 hours. He was looking then red faced; the warden asked him to go to the first line of Darshan along with other sick students. But Baba did not give  vibhuti to Kumar. He laughed & said, “ oh, you have taken an artificial fever! I shall give you Vibhuti when you will really need it ! “ After some months, Kumar had Malaria; he was shivering with fever and Baba gave him Vibhuti and cured him.

9. On one of Genesh Festivals, during the Idol Immersion Procession, Baba called Kumar to stand next to Him! Kumar was hesitant to do so, he secretly went behind Baba because many of his friends were watching him with jealousy since all were making a round to Baba! Then Baba took Kumar’s hand and again brought him close to Him! Later Baba told him. “ If you keep God next to you, then the whole world would make a round to you, right? “

10. One fine morning, while sitting in Darshan line, a thought came to Kumar’s mind, “what if I get a Cadbury chocolate which is so sweet and Baba is in front of me --- He is also very sweet ! “ After some moments, Baba came out of His interview room and straight came to Kumar. Oh, He had the same chocolate in His hand. He gave it to Kumar and stood in front of him and asked him to eat at that moment. Kumar could not believe in this. With tears in his eyes, he enjoyed the sweetness in double! Then Baba looked into his eyes and said, “As soon as any thought is generated in your mind, I know it ! “

11. Kumar’s voice was not fit for singing. Once he attempted to sing Bhajan in Kulwant Hall, everybody was laughing. Later his College Principal told him, “In your life, there are many things to do other than singing, Ok ?” One day, he had a lot of cough & problem with breathing. Baba called him for the interview along with other devotees. In the interview room, Kumar was continuously coughing! Then Baba called him near and asked him to look into His eyes! Kumar looked into Baba’s eyes. From that moment, his coughing vanished, but Baba started coughing for some time. Then Baba hit hard on Kumar’s head and asked him to take out the tongue. Baba wrote Aum  on his tongue and said to him, “Go to the first line in the Temple inside and sing a Bhajan. I shall come to listen to it.” Kumar sang a Bhajan; he could not understand how his voice got totally changed and how everybody was praising his Bhajan including the Principal! Kumar then became such a popular singer in Parthi that even Baba used to wait for his Bhajan!

12. In 2nd year of B. Com., the exam came near---- but Kumar could not prepare at all for the Paper of Costing. While leaving for the exam, Kumar looked at Baba’s photo & said. “Now, all is in Your Hands, Swamy!” In the exam hall, when he saw the Question Paper, he found it so difficult that he could not write a single word!! He wanted to run out! And then there came a message that Kumar’s father wanted to meet him for a minute! So Kumar was given a special permission to go out of the hall with one of the staff persons. Kumar’s father told him that Baba asked him to give Kumar a Pen and the Paper should be written with it! Kumar came back with the pen! And automatically, with the pen, he started writing the answers in the paper. He did not understand what he was writing!! But later he found that he passed in the subject with the First Class!

Part III

13. After finishing final exams, Kumar thought of becoming a professional singer. ne morning, he was sitting alone in the Kulwant Hall. Baba came for Darshan, He asked Kumar why he did not leave for home. Kumar replied, “I want to talk to you in private.” Baba took him inside the Interview room. Kumar said to Baba, “ you know Radio… there is Vividh Bharati … there are announcements before playing a film  song …… next song is sung by kishor kumar.. lyrics Anand Bakshi… Music

Laxmikant Pyarelal …….. Baba I dream the announcement as follows: --- the next song is sung by V Kumar .. lyrics Anand Bakshi ..Music Laxmikant Pyarelal ..!”

Baba listened carefully and then asked, “ who gave you the voice ?” Kumar replied, “you only !” Baba asked, “who am I ? “ Kumar said, “ God!” Baba looked into his eyes & asked,” Do you want to be My instrument or not ?” Kumar replied, “ Yes!”

Baba said, “ then go to the Hall & sing Bhajans !”

14. Later Kumar went to USA for a job. Then he was invited by Australian Consulate for a better job. In Sydney, then he increased no. of youths from 6 to 350 at the local Satya Sai Centre. Later Kumar started his Business in Bangalore. He is a bachelor; he stays happily in a 2 BHK Flat; one room of his Flat is devoted to Baba.

15. After Baba’s Mahasamadhi in 2011, Kumar went into depression! He left singing! Somehow by end of 2012, he came back to normal life. In January 2013, in the midnight, when he got up to drink water, he saw somebody sitting in a chair in front of him! Yes, Baba was there exactly in the same form as He used to be in Prasanthi Nilayam without a wheel chair! Baba was looking at Kumar, He asked, “ So what is the news?” Kumar started crying and said, “I feel a lot of pain… “ Baba: why ? Kumar: You have left us ! Baba: who told you I have left? See, I am in front of you ! … OK, why did you leave singing ? Kumar: Baba, for whom I shall sing now? You used to listen to me.. now I miss you! Baba: Am I not there in 1000 devotees’ hearts? Sing for Them! After saying this, Baba walked outside the Bedroom and disappeared. Later, Kumar found 2 Vibhuti packets & a Baba’s photo mysteriously generated  below his bedpillow!

16. Kumar’s house-maid is a Christian lady; she did not believe in Baba. She comes to Kumar’s Flat in the morning to clean up and cook food; at that time, Kumar is in office. One morning, she came to Kumar’s flat. It was locked. She opened it by a key with her. When she went inside, she saw somebody sitting in a chair of computer! She first thought a thief had entered into the Flat, but then she saw Baba Himself! She fell unconscious on floor. After some time, when she got up, Baba was still there in the chair. She came out of the Flat and called Kumar on phone, “Your Baba is sitting in your Flat on a computer chair” Later Baba talked to this lady: “Do not worry! All your prayers to Jesus reach Me! I shall take care of your 3 children.” After some weeks, the lady had a high fever; she went to a good Hospital where her Blood Test revealed Malaria. She was about to purchase medicine and start taking them. But then she came to Kumar’s house and sat near Baba’s chair! After some moments, she clearly heard Baba’s voice in a soft tone: “Your fever has gone away and go back & again conduct the blood test” She really found that the fever has run away;  he came back to the same Doctors who were surprised to see her again within just half an hour. She pleaded to do once more her blood test. With some hesitation, they did it! And all got surprised to see a fully normal report!

17. One night, Kumar was tired and before going to bed, he was watching a Tamil comedy TV serial. The TV Remote was in front of him on a small Table. Suddenly, he saw that channels on the TV Screen were getting fast changed and later on the TV was switched off!  Kumar realized that it was a Baba’s play. This was confirmed by Vibhuti creation at that moment in the kitchen on a steel plate! 18. Kumar at home makes a filtered coffee for him in the morning. Recently, he heard Baba’s soft voice, “ you are making coffee for you ! what about Me?” Kumar said, ”oh, then I will make it for you, too!” Baba: “ but I do not like cups in your house; I shall first arrange a cup for Me and then you give Me coffee from that tomorrow onwards!” That evening, one person came to Kumar’s place and handed over a beautiful silver cup to him. He said, “Yesterday night, Baba came to my dream and told me to give this cup to you. He told me a detailed address of your Flat” Kumar is today thus experiencing presence of Baba at home ---- after His Mahasamadhi!

Radio Sai Special Report: Looking to build on past success

A special article by Mr. Ryuko Hira (President, Indian Commerce and Industry Association Japan) on the Japan visit of Indian Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi. Article published by “The Japan Times” on September 1, 2014.

“There was a question raised at a summer university course on Indian culture that asked, “Who rules the universe?” Aft
...er some of the students replied, “nature” or “God” they were then asked, “Who rules God?” The question silenced the class until Chancellor Sri Sathya Sai answered, “God is ruled by the principles of truth”. The students asked Sai, “Who rules truth?”, Sai answered the query with, “Noble men rule truth”.

The Honourable and noble Prime Minister of India H. E. Narendra Modi is ruled by the supreme principle of truth. “ Satyam Eva Jayate (Truth alone triumphs) is India’s national motto and is inscribed on the base of country’s national emblem.”

Ashramshala seva

Photo showing Poor village school kids receiving medicine....

Sairam

We are receiving many enquiries about
the Seva at Ashram Shalas/village schools
...
for the poor village students.

In our endeavour to move to the next orbit of Seva
to have wider impact with a focussed approach
we set out searching the Seva Spots holding out
potential for meaningful seva with long term impact.

We met the officials in Tribal Commissioners office
and also various village level functionaries.
Took a list of all boarding schools for tribal kids
and the local village schools ..

Surveyed five boarding schools for poor tribal children
in five villages within a radius of an hour and half drive
from Mumbai borders -
Pendergol, Susarwadi , Sherol , Agayi and Piwle.
Understood how they function. The gap areas.

Mapped the needs of these poor kids to
quietly improve their quality-of-life
without making noise about who is responsible
for their present condition etc.

Like we walked into their kitchen and found for
want of a few crucial vessels they suffer to serve.
Fixed it. Got new vessels to serve.
Found a few lights not working on the pathway
making it difficult for the kids to use toilets at night.
Just got a few solars fixed.
The non working fans replaced.
Gave a better look and feel by a simple white wash.
This week procuring Steel Lunch Plates, Slippers
More solar lights, Mosquito coils, Ground level desks etc
All small items but adding disproportionately higher benefits.

Just learnt to discover Swami in small decimels like this
than chasing big complex numbers
ending up with some bitter Algebra !!

And our Mobile Medical Team graciously
took over monthly medical check up
and with it Balvikas like classes etc to start.
Now the model is being spread across the state
through Mobile medical teams with this template of Seva
for improving quality of life of poor students.

The advantage is under one roof we get
400-500 tribal Narayanas (students) to serve.

Seeing the difference it made,
the Project officer, incharge of the tribal children called us
to explore how this can be broadbased.
Soon we shall meet him with a Plan of Action.

When we stop complaining and start lending a hand
to improve the situation ,a world of opportunities
wait at the doorstep with a divine undercurrent.

Its about donating Value-time -
May be half a Sunday
with these helpless poor kids.
A great de-stresser.
And is sure to transform lives -
Ours, that is - alongside theirs of course.

Even best articulated ideas
can never become experience
unless we switch to Action mode.
Just step out. Serve. Experience.

(Next visit with Mobile medical van
to Agayi school near Asangaon
on Sun the 14th Sep
and to Pendergol, Sun the 28th Sep 2014)

Jai Sairam

Why should we pull up ourselves a tad bit more on purity of speech? Bhagawan lovingly explains to us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Friday, September 12, 2014

All aspirants must have internal purity, as all actions arise from internal impulses and not external forces. Your actions reflect your inner being. When pure feelings arise within you, your actions will naturally be pure. To cleanse the internal impulses, you must be pure in your mind, speech and the body. Of these three, purity in speech is the most important. Gita reveals, “Every word you utter should be free from causing excitement or agitation (Anudhvegakaram Vakyam Satyam Priyahitam cha yat)”. Your speech must be true and pleasing. Four factors account for the pollution of speech; they are - uttering falsehood, excessive talking, carrying tales against others, and abuse or criticism of others. Make sure your tongue does not indulge in these offences. Only when you get rid of these four evil tendencies from within, your speech will become pure and unpolluted.

- Divine Discourse, August 30, 1993.

You may not always oblige, but you may always speak obligingly. - BABA.

Sathya Sai with Students - September 2014

For all the goodness we receive, do we express gratitude enough? Bhagawan lovingly reminds us and also teaches us how to express our gratitude.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Thursday, September 11, 2014

Every object in the world, whether it is a bird or a sheep or anything else, has a value of its own. Man alone has lost his value because of his involvement in mundane pursuits. People have no gratitude to the five elements which confer on them gratis innumerable precious benefits like light, heat, air and water. You have to pay a price for so many small amenities like electricity and running water. But what price does you pay for the light of the Sun who illumines the world? This light is a gift of the Divine. What price do you pay for a soft breeze or a heavy downpour of rain? God is providing freely such precious benefits to you. What gratitude do people show to God for all these? The only way to show one's gratitude to the five elements is Smarana (to chant the Lord's name incessantly).

- Divine Discourse, Sep 14, 1997.

Body is a house given to you on rent. Live there so long as He wills, thanking Him and paying Him the rent of faith and devotion. -BABA

What is the relevance of Anapekshah (desirelessness) in our daily lives, given the present times? Is it practical? Bhagawan lovingly reminds us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Wednesday, September 10, 2014

Is it possible for anyone in this world to be free of any desire and expectation? Not quite! Some things (material and sensual) may be attractive to some persons and some big aims (non-physical and transcendental) may interest others. Almost all desires fall into one of the above categories. Then how is it possible to get rid of both kinds of desires? This is possible! In the Gita, the Lord has declared that He is present in all righteous actions. Therefore those who perform righteous actions can develop anapeksha (desirelessness). This means that when a man performs all actions as offerings to the Lord, they become desireless actions. The Lord is the One who from within, makes one act, speak, listen, see, etc. If a person performs all actions with the conviction that the indwelling Lord is the real Doer, then the actions become desireless. Hence to begin with every sadhaka should regard one’s actions as offerings to the Divine.

- Divine Discourse, August 30, 1993.

Have no desires to place before God, for whatever He does with you and however He treats you, is the gift He likes best to give you! – BABA.

Radio Sai ~ God's own Radio Station

With the Divine Blessings of Bhagwan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, Radio Sai went on air for the first time on November 23, 2001. It was inaugurated by Bhagawan Baba as a channel of the World Space Satellite Radio service. Radio Sai has over the years grown into an Internet Radio streaming service offering six different, 24/7 streams - Asia, Afri, Ameri, Telugu, Discourse and Bhajan Stream.

Asia, Afri, Ameri streams offer programmes specific to the time zones of the three continents (Asia, Africa and America respectively). The Bhajan Stream plays bhajans 24 hours a day, while the Discourse Stream is a 24 hour channel that offers the many discourses delivered by Baba over the years.

The newest channel added to the service in June 2011 is the Telugu Stream which offers programmes in Telugu, which is the native language of the Indian State of Andhra Pradesh, where Bhagawan Baba made His advent. It is also the language in which Baba delivered almost all His talks.

Radio Sai’s e-Journal and other services

Apart from the above mentioned internet radio streams, Radio Sai offers through the website radiosai.org, Radio Sai’s official e-journal “Heart2Heart”. This journal started as a fortnightly publication and later was expanded and made into a monthly magazine. However from 2009, it was converted into a dynamic e-journal updated at least 3-4 times a week.

Now, on radiosai.org you will find insightful articles, inspiring stories, interviews with devotees, photo galleries, quizzes and the various videos produced by Radio Sai. You can also read the ‘Sai Inspires’, the thought for the day from Prasanthi Nilayam or subscribe and receive the daily Sai Inspires and other updates from Radio Sai through e-mail. Since Bhagawan’s 86th Birthday (23 Nov 2011) the Radio Sai team has started the live video streaming of all programmes that take place in the Sai Kulwant Hall. This is indeed great opportunity for the devotees to witness Live proceeding of various programs and festivals direct from Prasanthi Nilayam from their own place.

Bhagawan Baba is the Divine Teacher, who has come to instruct us all on the eternal and universal principles which are common to all religions, countries and communities. We at Radio Sai consider ourselves as one of the many humble instruments in His divine hands.

People often talk of three different worlds, heaven and hell, etc. What are these in reality? Bhagawan lovingly explains to us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Tuesday, September 9, 2014

The Gayatri mantra mentions: Bhur Bhuvaha Suvah - the Bhuloka, Bhuvarloka and Suvarloka (The human world, nether world and heaven). It is wrong to conceive of these three as existing one on top of the other. In fact the three lokas (worlds) are intertwined with each other and one exists within the other. The real meaning of this kind of geometrical configuration of the three lokas is that the pancha indriya, bhutas and koshas (five senses, elements and sheaths) that constitutes the body is Bhuloka; the aspect of prana shakti or manas thathvam (mind principle) is Bhuvarloka; and the microscopic state of Anandam (bliss) represents Suvarloka. So it can be said that the three worlds are nothing but the deha thathwa, manas thathwa and Ananda thathwa (essential nature of body, mind and bliss) and the totality of these three represents the Trivikrama thathwa (nature of Vishnu expanding to the three worlds).

- Divine Discourse, Sep 4, 1979.

A heart saturated with love of God can never entertain any thoughts of violence. - BABA.

What difference occurs to the individual who loves God and those who don’t? Bhagawan explains with an illustration.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Monday, September 8, 2014

The Lord resides not only in the hearts of devotees..., but also in the hearts of the evil-minded. Once the child Prahlada approached his mother, Lilavati, and told her, "Mother, there is only one difference between me, who is a devotee of Hari and my father, who hates Hari. Ever contemplating on the nectarous sweetness of the Lord, repeating His name, and constantly remembering Him, I am immersed in the bliss of love of the Lord, like one intoxicated. My father, in his hatred of Narayana, has turned his heart into stone and installed Him in it." The Lord, who dwelt in the heart of Prahlada, who loved Narayana, and the Lord who was in the heart of Hiranyakasipu, who hated Narayana, was one and the same. One has to live in faith to experience happiness. Realising that the Divine is omnipresent, the devotees make their lives sublime by singing the glories of the Lord and ever dwelling on His name.

- Divine Discourse 15 Sep 1986.

Ignorance, Doubting Faith, Fickleness, Egoism—these tarnish a person’s nature and rob them of even the tiniest ounce of peace. – BABA

What is the best way to celebrate the festival of Onam? Bhagawan lovingly explains to us today and gives us a life lesson.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Sunday, September 7, 2014

The story of the festival Onam is that of Emperor Bali, who was an embodiment of sacrifice (Thyaga), but who suffered from traces of ego (Ahamkara). Due to the predominance of other virtues and Lord Vishnu’s Grace, Emperor Bali overcame the ill-effects of ahamkara and attained mergence with Lord Vishnu, who appeared as Vamana. Bali personified the principles of sacrifice, charity and righteousness till his very end. Since Onam festival day is celebrated in memory of the re-appearance of Bali in his subtle form (sukshma rupa), it is imperative that we remember and practice the ideals for which he lived. Bali, as portrayed above, should be visiting us every day and not just once a year. We forget this and in our daily life leave ample room for the cultivation of undesirable traits such as greed, selfishness and egoism. Learning from Bali's life you must eradicate the negative traits at all costs, and render your heart pure for the Lord to reside in it.

- Divine Discourse, 4 Sep 1979.

All that you do with purity of heart will find fulfilment. -BABA.

Radio Sai is pleased to bring you some glimpses of the Onam Celebrations at Prasanthi Nilayam (Day 2) held in Prasanthi Nilayam on 6th September 2014.

The second day of Onam at Prashanthi Nilayam, Puttaparthi, the abode of Sri Sathya Sai Baba organized by the Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation and the Sathya Sai Trust, Kerala began with inter-religious bhajans in the morning. The evening session commenced with a talk by honourable Justice P.B.Suresh Kumar of the Kerala High Court. He narrated how his life has always been motivated, inspired and guided at each step by Sri Sathya Sai Baba. As a student of Bal Vikas program of Sri Sathya Sai Organisation, he firmly believes that it is only Baba’s blessings that has brought him to this position.

The second speaker was Sri. Satish Chander, a former student of Sri Sathya Sai University and presently of the Dept. of Bio medics at the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences. He undertook a journey along the entire length of Kerala meeting the patients (and the families) who were operated upon at Sathya Sai hospitals. These patients are being taken care of, life long by the SAI REHABILITATION PROGRAMME of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation, Kerala. He narrated his outlook about his profession changed after this journey. He explained the affection and love these people have for Baba, irrespective of caste, creed or religion.

This was followed by an excellent dance programme by the Bal Vikas students of Alappuzha.

In this age of Kali, what is the best way to attain liberation? Bhagawan lucidly explains today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Saturday, September 6, 2014

Emperor Bali demonstrated through his sacrificing nature that if one sacrifices everything, one will attain moksha (liberation). The real sacrifice involves two things: First, to realise the cause of our bondage in this life, and second, to sever this bondage. People mistakenly think that wealth, family, etc., are their bondages, and that by severing connections with them they will be able to sacrifice everything and become eligible to attain moksha. But these are not the real bondage. Real bondage is one’s ignorance in identifying oneself with the body. He who cuts off this bondage as Bali did, will attain moksha. For cutting off this bondage, purification of the heart is very necessary. In this Kaliyuga, namasmarana (constant remembrance of God) is the easiest way to purify one's mind; and surrendering to God with a pure mind is the surest way to attain moksha.

- Divine Discourse, 4 Sep 1979.

Your body is a house given to you on rent. Live there so long as He wills, thanking Him and paying Him the rent of faith and devotion. - BABA

AUSPICIOUS ONAM

Special Radiosai timeline cover for the Auspicious Onam Celebration which going to be start from tomorrow morning with Bhajans and Cultural program by devotees from Kerala.

Onam, the foremost cultural festival of the Sout
...h Indian state of Kerala, falls towards the end of August or in early September every year. The Onam festivities at Prasanthi Nilayam have a unique charm of their own. The entire Sai Family from the state of Kerala gathers at Prasanthi Nilayam to celebrate the festival to get the blessings of their Divine Master, Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. This year Onam falls on September 7th but from tomorrow onwards devotees will start this auspicious festival with their heartfelt offerings.

The sacred day marks the occasion when the mighty Emperor Bali performed the supreme act of surrender to Lord Vamana, the Avatar of Lord Vishnu. The state of Kerala is home to varied and captivating forms of art, music and dances. So, when the people of Kerala gather at the Lotus Feet of Bhagawan on the occasion of Onam, it is indeed a grand cultural feast. Sai Kulwant Hall reverberates to the sound of the Panchavadyam, the traditional music that is played on festive occasions in the temples of Kerala. A divine fragrance of Lord with the cultural and traditional essence adds a divine feeling in the mind of everyone who gathered here during Onam Celebration.

Let’s see what Bhagawan Baba has taught us regarding Onam Celebrations.

“This day is the sacred day when the Lord as Vamana Avatar conferred liberation on Emperor Bali. Bali was a great person, but he had one weakness. He suffered from a slight sense of ego. A great man sees the human even in Lord Narayana (God). But a good man is one who sees God even in man. Hence, it is more important for people to be good rather than great. Most parents these days want their children to become great in various ways - in scholarship, wealth, and position. This is totally misconceived. They should really want their children to be good.

(Divine Discourse: 14th September 1997)

Feel free to make it your facebook timeline cover photo and pray to Lord for bestowing happiness and prosperity among all. As Keralians welcome their King, we welcome Divine Joy and Sacred feelings from every corner of the world and let them flow to everyone’s heart to enlighten all on this sacred Onam.

It is said desire is the root cause of all our miseries. How do we handle this problem then? Bhagawan lovingly explains today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Friday, September 5, 2014

Desire (kama) must be got rid of by Tyaga (sacrifice) and Yoga (communion) to secure God (Rama). Desire discolours the intelligence, perverts judgment, and sharpens the appetites of the senses. It lends a false lure to the objective world. When desire is directed to God, the self-luminous intelligence within shines in its pristine splendour, and reveals God within and without, and you attain Self-Realisation (Atma Sakshatkara). I bless all of you to succeed in your Sadhana (spiritual efforts)! If you have not been practicing sincerely until now, take up the simple practice of remembrance of the Divine (Namasmarana), along with reverence towards parents, teachers and elders, and service to the poor and needy. See everyone as your lshtadhevata (Beloved Lord). That will fill your heart with Love and give you stability of mind and peace.

- Divine Discourse, May 15, 1969.

A good student is an offering that a good teacher makes to the nation. - BABA

Om Sairam dearest Sai Family

Here is a 30 second duration video of Mr.Narendra Modi, the prime minister of India and an ardent devotee of Bhagawan wishing " Sairam" to another veteran Sai Devotee Mr. Hira who has done a lot to the Sri Sathya Sai Organisation in Japan and in many other countries including Prasanthi Nilayam.

It is heart warming to see Mr.Modi addressing " Sairam" in a high level deplomatic meeting which speaks high of His devotion to Swami and appreciation of the work done by the Sai Organisation.

MAHA MANGALA ARATHI STARTS FROM TODAY:

As announced Swami will be offered two arathis in the evening session in Sai Kulwanth Hall starting from September 4th 2014. Today being the first day of the Maha Mangala arathi, there was big congregation of devotees. Our loving Swami accepted the same with a " confirmation" in the form of a heavy downpour for about 15 minutes right after completion of the arathi, to the rejoice of Puttaparthians who were eagerly waiting for some rains.

Dr.Gopinath one of the first surgeons of Swami's hospital is no more:

Dr.Gopinath a veteran of Swami's General hospital breathed his last on September 3rd 2014 in Puttaparthi. He along with his wife Dr.Hema Gopinath (who is still serving in Swami's hospital) came to Swami in the early 80s. After working for almost 25 years in Canada they moved to Puttaparthi upon the divine command. Before serving in the hospital, they also served in Divine Life society for 9 years in South India.

Who ever is reading this, please take few moments to say a small prayer to Dr. Gopinath for his soul to rest in eternal peace at our Lord's Lotus feet.

With pranams at the Lotus feet of our beloved Lord,

R.Satish Naik

"Thursday Divine Darshan"
Short darshan Video Clip every Thursday

Darshan - 09

When the compassionate Lord chose to move amidst us... even as He glided past us and before us, He silently slipped into our hearts too! The eyes that were intoxicated with the beauty of His Darshan and never satiated, unknowingly then, turned within in search of that divine glimpse. Isn't that how He purified us, isn't that how He made us seekers? That was the magic of our Sai's Darshan!

Looking at Swami we wondered, was He more gracious or more graceful... nay He is verily grace itself - when He walks, when He talks, when He scolds, or when he gathers His robe's folds, when he smiles and beckons or in disappointment frowns... Seeing His grace our hearts gaped, 'How could one be so very graceful?' He could be, because He was as gracious as He was graceful, and to shower His grace was the very purpose of His presence. Darshan was that special moment when He allowed us to witness His gracefulness and graciousness.

What is true detachment and sacrifice? How can we practice it in our daily life? Bhagawan clearly explains to us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Thursday, September 4, 2014

People think that giving up hearth and home is renunciation. This is not what Vairagya (detachment) implies. Whatever we do should be done in a spirit of goodwill and service. It should be for the wellbeing of the nation. And the welfare of all must be looked upon as the motto of the nation. From very early times, Bharatiyas have lived up to the ideal: "May all the worlds be happy!" To uphold this ideal, rulers, scholars, sages and everyone made many sacrifices. Today the spirit of sacrifice is not to be seen anywhere. It is selfishness that is the root cause of all the cruelty and violence today. All that we have in this century are strife, disputes, riots and violence. Selfishness has reared its head. Embodiments of Love! Get rid of selfishness. Regard yourself as an integral member of society. Develop the faith that your welfare is bound with the well being of all.

- Divine Discourse, Apr 27, 1990.

True sacrifice consists in sharing with others one’s wealth, strength and qualities, which are derived from society. - BABA.

What should we do to receive sufficient grace from God at all times? Bhagawan lovingly explains to us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Wednesday, September 3, 2014

Remember, hands that serve are greater than the lips that pray. Real humanness consists in dedicating oneself to the spirit of service. Quantity does not matter; quality of service counts. Whatever you do, do it wholeheartedly and spontaneously. The primary requisite is purification of the heart (Chittha Shuddhi). When your heart is purified, you get Supreme Wisdom (Jnana siddhi) and you can dedicate all actions in a spirit of detachment. Divine love can be secured only by dedicated service. God responds bounteously to your offer. For a handful of parched rice given to Krishna Kuchela got in return limitless prosperity. Draupadi was rewarded likewise. How can you receive God’s love if you do not love Him? God’s Grace is like a bank. You can draw money from that bank only to the extent to which you have built up deposits through Tyaga (sacrifice). Earn God's grace through love and sacrifice.

- My Dear Students, April 27, 1990.

When the mind is filled with good thoughts, such as truth, love, forbearance and compassion, one’s life is filled with peace and serenity. - BABA.

Poornachandra of Poornabrahma

Poornachandra Auditorium was built in 1973, it can comfortably seat around 15,000 people in the 60 x 40 metre area. With the, imposing appearance and column less structure, it has inspiring murals of God-forms, Avatars, Saints, and Seers from all religions and times. It is the venue for conducting cultural programmes, conferences and specially the Yyagna during Dasara festival.

Poornachandra Auditorium is that place which has witnessed divine Vibhuti Abhishekam done by our beloved Bhagawan over Shirdi Sai Statue on the festival of Maha Shivaratri. This occasion of yesteryears was most sacred event as during Maha Shivaratri, all the devotees gathered in Poornachandra Auditorium which used to be beautifully decked up with festoons. They were most fortunate ones to witness this divine Vibhuti Abhishekam and also used to receive those sacred Vibhuti as Prasadam.

Delightful Dasara in Poornachandra

Over the past many years the festival of Dasara in Prasanthi Nilayam has been closely associated with the ‘Veda Purusha Sapthaha Jnana Yagna’, the week-long sacrificial ritual conducted for the welfare of the mankind.

Pundits (Vedic scholars) followed by the students of Bhagawan clad in saffron silk dhotis and white Anga Vastrams (traditional Indian attire consisting of a cloth wrapped around the shoulders) walk in procession to the Poornachandra Auditorium, the venue of the Yagnam, amidst vedam chanting and the auspicious tunes of the ‘Nadaswaram’. The Yagnam commences with the ceremonial churning and rubbing of wooden blocks to produce fire in the most natural way. The sacred fire thus produced, is placed in the ‘Yagna Kunda’ (sacrificial altar into which oblations are offered).

In Prasanthi Nilayam, especially during the Navaratri that falls every year in or around September – October, people gather in thousands to pay their homage to the Divine Mother as Bhagawan Baba. Over the past many years, the festival of Dasara in Prasanthi Nilayam has been closely associated with the ‘Veda Purusha Saptaha Jnana Yajna’, the week-long sacrificial ritual conducted at Poornachandra Auditorium in the Divine Presence, for the welfare of the whole world.

Learn the bhajan ‘Sarva Mangala Sai Janani’ through which we could worship the Divine Mother who cares us in every field of our life and bestows Her Divine grace upon us. Listen and download here in this link:
http://media.radiosai.org/journals/Vol_07/01SEP09/12-bhajans.htm

Feel free to download this “Sarva Mangala Sai Janani” wallpaper and set this as your desktop wallpaper or make it your facebook timeline cover photo. Let the Divine Mother’s Divine love transform our life and make us suitable to acquire all the spiritual knowledge. God, where are you? Bhagawan lovingly answers this question for us today, in His own inimitable style.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Tuesday, September 2, 2014

There are people who go about declaring that there is no God because they are unable to see Him. They say that they have searched in space, on the way to the moon, and even on the moon there was no sign of the Almighty. But they themselves are the mansions in which He resides, all the time! Like the blind bamboozling the blind into a fall, others too repeat like parrots this ‘fashionable slogan’. No one sees the roots, but the roots are indeed there, deep in the soil, away from all eyes. Can you assert that there are no roots for trees, that nothing feeds them or upholds them from below? God feeds, sustains, holds firm - though unseen, He can be seen by those who make the effort, along the lines laid down for the purpose by those who have succeeded in experiencing Him. God is, as butter in milk, visible when concretized by spiritual striving (Sadhana).

- Divine Discourse, May 15, 1969.

Devotion to the Divine will give you bliss, prosperity and peace. - BABA.

WATCH THE BIRTH OF A MAHA MANTRA

Loving Sai ram brothers and sisters, It was 6 years ago on 31 August, 2008, Bhagawan chose to revise the ancient Vedic Universal Mantra, “Lokaah Samastha” into “Samastha Lokaah…”

This is a video clip of Swami discoursing on revision of Ma
ha Mantra Lokah Samastha into Samastha Lokah Sukino Bavantu at the end of a private session in Bhajan Hall, the date was 31st August 2008...Let's spread this message and let the whole world be immersed in this unique universal feeling

Indeed this Mantra is the panacea for all human ailments, the antidote to wash away our karmic debts…and the most potent tool to make Him ‘happy’

Let’s join the whole of His Creation, with folded hands, praying together to grant the Cosmic Oneness…thus Oneness With Sai… Let ‘Samastha Lokah Sukhino Bhavantu’ be established to bring this Golden Era into a Reality

How can one live in the world yet not be attached to it? Bhagawan explains by giving us this valuable lesson today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Monday, September 1, 2014

A young college student can roam free on his two legs; when he marries, he becomes four-footed! A child makes him six-footed; now the range of his movements is restricted. The more the feet, the less the speed, the stronger their grip on the ground; a centipede can only crawl. More hurdles,... more handicaps. Accumulation of sofas, chairs, cots, tables and shelves clutter the hall and render movements slow and risky. Attachment brings sorrow in its wake; at last, when death demands that everything be left behind and everybody be deserted, you are overpowered with grief! Be like the lotus on water; on it, not in it. Water is necessary for the lotus to grow; but it will not allow even a drop to wet it. The objective world is the arena of virtue and the gymnasium for the spirit. But use it only for that purpose; do not raise it to a higher status and adore it as all-important.

- Divine Discourse, May 15, 1969.

When God is pleased with you, the whole world will be pleased with you. Therefore let all your efforts be to please God.-BABA.

PHOTO GALLERY : The Gift of Darshan - Sept 1, 2014

By Radio Sai

The experience that is freely available to all and the one everyone invariably looks forward to is Darshan. To be in the Divine presence and to catch a glimpse of Swami as He gently glides along is the longing of all devotees. Just for this, they come from all over the world. How they crane their necks to see Him as He comes out! That is hunger for the Divine; that is the deep yearning for the Divine. If that thirst is there, then He makes sure that it is satisfied….whatever the place and circumstances. Our joy is His joy.

Let us now find out what Swami Himself has to say about Darshan on various occasions:

Later it may be difficult to approach Me and ask Me. For, people are coming towards Me in full, unending streams, and you may have to have My Darshan from miles away!

There are those who may never see Me in the concrete form. They have, all the same, reached Me through a friend, a book, or a photograph. To each of these, if they yearn deeply, I give My Darshan inwardly. These too I love as deeply, for they have begun to see themselves as being beyond their body, as Divine Souls. This is the advancement towards Self-Realisation.

After My Darshan, always find a quiet corner, where you may enter into the stillness and receive the completion of My Blessings. As I pass you, My Energy goes from Me into you. If, immediately after Darshan, you start talking, the precious Energy gifted to you gets dissipated and returns to Me unused. Be assured that whatever My eyes see, becomes vitalised and transmuted. You are being changed day by day - never underestimate what is being accomplished by the act of My Darshan.

My walking amongst you is a gift yearned for by the gods of the Highest Heavens; but here you are receiving this Grace without much effort. Be grateful for what you are getting. The Blessings you receive would express themselves in due course, when the time comes. But also remember: To whom much is given, from him much also would be demanded!

Well, it is time we realize how lucky we are to be able to see God walking on earth !
