THE DIVINE STORY OF SHIRDI SAI PARTHI SAI - Part 40

http://media.radiosai.org/journals/Vol_06/01APR08/05-ssps.htm

...

KONDAMA RAJU: The words of Venkava Dhoota have proved to be absolutely true! ………. Venkama, ours is the Ratnakara lineage, and we do not know black magic, related rituals, and the like. Other than pure devotion to God, charity and compassion to others, and a spiritual outlook, we are ignorant of strange practices.

VENKAMA RAJU: That may be so father, but people are making all sorts of comments about our Sathyam. I am unable to decide whether He has Divine Power in Him or devilish power. I have therefore sent for Narasimhachari, an expert on magical chants. He should be able to diagnose the problem correctly.

NARASIMHA: Venkama Raju,……. Venkama Raju!

VENKAMA RAJU: You have come at the right moment. Please step inside; come.

NARASIMHA: Salutations to you Kondama Raju sir!…….[chants] Please get water in this vessel.

VENKAMA RAJU: Easwari!

EASWARAMMA: Yes?

VENKAMA RAJU: Take this and get some fresh water.

NARASIMHA: Mother, also put a couple of basil leaves in the water. And, apply turmeric as well as kumkum to the vessel on the outside.

EASWARAMMA: I shall do so.

NARASIMHA: Call the boy, and let me see what the problem is.

VENKAMA RAJU: Sathyam, …..Sathyam. ……..Sit here boy.

Shirdi Sai Parthi Sai was a tele serial originally made in Telugu, which was later translated into many languages. This effort was a devotional offering of legendary Indian actress, Anjali Devi. Swami blessed the commencement of this project in Guru Poornima of 1998 and released it exactly a year later. The speciality of the serial is the narration of the birth and childhood of Shirdi Baba, a revelation that Swami made in the late 80s.

Who in this world deserves our most sincere gratitude? Bhagawan clearly explains and reminds us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Friday, October 31, 2014

The Vedas declare, “Mathru Devo Bhava, Pitru Devo Bhava”. Revere the mother and father as Divine. All of you must realize that your blood, food, head and money are gifts of your parents. First and foremost, offer your gratitude to your mother. Never forget your mother who gave you birth after allowing you to grow within herself for nine months, and provides you all care and comfort, unmindful of her own discomforts. The mother always has the child’s well-being uppermost in her mind on all that she says and does. You may be highly educated and your mother may be illiterate, still you should have the utmost regard and respect for her. Consider the teachings of your mother as dear as scriptures themselves. Bereft of character, worldly education cannot grant peace or help you lead a Divine Life.

Programme Schedule of 89th Birthday Celebration of Bhagawan Baba

Dear brothers and sisters,
Holy Thursday Greetings from Prasanthi Nilayam!...

Some more days left for the grand celebration of Swami’s 89th Birthday Celebration. On 23rd of November, we celebrate the Birth Anniversary of the Advent of our Lord Sai amongst us. It is an opportunity for mankind to pay homage to this embodiment of Selfless Love on this special day when He took this Sathya Sai Avtar for the sake of mankind. Millions of devotees from all over the world throng to Prasanthi Nilayam on this day to catch a glimpse of this grand celebration and to feel Swami’s divine essence.

This is not only a celebration but it is an event for which devotees wait a whole year. They come and fulfilled their wish by taking part in this divine event. Swami always has said that the day when divinity will blossoms in our heart, that will be His birthday. Swami will be happy if we could follow His teaching and make our life His message. That will be a true offering to Swami on His birthday.

Swami says – “Embodiments of divine Love! I don't expect anything from you. Just develop love within you. Regard all mankind with fraternal feelings. Recognize all as the children of God. Bear no ill will or hatred toward anyone. Don't hurt anyone's feelings. Only such a large-hearted attitude will confer on you limitless bliss. If you are celebrating Swami's birthday, this is all that I desire from you. Have unity among yourselves.”

Sai Organisations of Punjab plunges to serve flood victims of J & K State

Expressing solidarity with the suffering masses of flood ravaged Jammu & Kashmir, Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation from the neighbouring State of Punjab had organised various relief camps, bringing timely respite to many a thousand affected by the flood fury that caused massive destruction in early September, the worst in the history of the State. These Emergency relief camps were organised with the financial assistance of Sri Sathya Sai Trust and the Punjab Sathya Sai Samiti and the camps were set up after a thorough survey of the localities, requiring immediate and maximum relief assistance, where other similar agencies were not able to reach or extend their services.

The first Medical Relief Camp in the series was organised in the administrative area of Srinagar, distributing large volume of medicines and the blankets to the needy, with the active cooperation of J & K Police.

Another camp was significantly held in the Jama Masjid, located in Pampore Village. This was a felicitous prelude for the active Sevadal force, considering the fact that no other organization was allowed to organize similar activities inside the Mosque precincts. Interestingly, the seva activities were set in motion with sacred ‘Omkar’ chanting followed by Bhagawan’s panacea for Universal Peace, ‘Samastha Lokah Sukhino Bhavantu’. Many hundreds were served, especially a group of protesting locals who initially rebuffed the relief aid from the local administration, after an assurance by the Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation officials about the autonomous philanthropic nature of the Organisation.

Grace and Blessings of Bhagawan, as we many call it, that, in many areas, it was observed that some of the rebel groups, especially youth, who were agitating against local administration and police, later turned to join our Organizational relief efforts whole-heartedly, giving fillip to our efforts to reach out more victims. In many areas, blankets were distributed, after an elaborate door to door survey. In addition to the security provided by the Police, the Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation volunteers in white uniforms were ably assisted by the Youth of Pampore, with reference to the door to door survey and subsequent distribution of the relief materials.

Another Medical Camp was set up in Beffina, a remote and distant village, where no other relief effort had reached. Over 150 houses in this village were completely ravaged to ruins causing substantial loss. Incidentally, this was Avatar Declaration Day of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai, and the camp was set up in a local Government School, having 200 students.

Approximately 250 people were benefited and 200 blankets were distributed among the victims. The School Principal has solicited for 100 school bags, V-necked grey coloured sweaters, grey coloured socks, grey trousers, white shirts, shoes and different sports equipment namely, badminton rackets, table tennis, carom boards, chess boards etc. Owing to the impending winters and the steadily falling temperature, children in the School need indoor games paraphernalia for their recreation and entertainment. Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation would be despatching the requested items with the next Sevadal batch departing for Srinagar.

One more Camp was organized in Arrigutmoo village nearby Kalimgunj in Kulgaam District. Local Masjid committee eased out the task with their active cooperation, helping SSSO volunteers in distributing blankets to the needy.

To summarise the activities, the Punjab Sathya Sai Organisation had sent 1 truck load of blankets to Jammu area and 3 Truck loads consisting of blankets, stationary and medicines etc. to serve different areas in J&K.

Future plans:

Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation would continue its efforts of conducting active Medical Relief Camps, 15-20 a minimum, until 15 November. Survey would be conducted in Southern Kashmir, assessing the situation to quantify the assistance package. Southern Kashmir endured extensive devastation during the flood. Continuing with the ongoing effort in Srinagar, SSSO intends to provide 750 quilts, mattresses and beddings for the orphanages in the State’s Summer Capital. Not the least, serious planning is being made for the rehabilitation of the affected people, by repair and reconstruction of the houses and schools, in the worst-affected areas of the September flood fury.

The white men army of Bhagwan Sathya Sai Baba from Punjab continues to move on to resurrect the despondent neighbours.

Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organizations Relief Camps at Jammu & Kashmir State

Radio Sai Special Report: Emergency Relief camps at various places in Jammu and Kashmir... State

With the combined financial assistance of Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust and the Punjab Sathya Sai Samithi has organised various

Emergency Relief camps at various places in Jammu and Kashmir State. The camps were set up after a thorough survey of the areas, requiring immediate and maximum relief assistance where other similar agencies were not able to reach/ extend their relief services.

First Medical Camp on 18/19.10.2014:

With the supreme grace of Bhagwaan Baba The First Medical Relief Camp was established on October 18/19, 2014 in the administrative area of Srinagar, wherein Medicines worth Rs. 2.5 Lacs and 2500 Blankets were distributed, with coordination of J&K police headed by SSP, Mr. Altaaf and DSP, Mr. Muzaffar.

The camp was significantly held in Jama Masjid which is located in Pampore village. This was a felicitous prelude for all those were in Sai Service in Srinagar Blankets were distributed to the calamity stricken after an elaborate door to door survey. In addition to the security provided by the Police, the SSS Sewa Dal was backed and guided by the Youth in Pampore regarding the door to door survey and the distribution of the relief material.

Second Medical Camp on 20.10.2014:

Second Medical Camp was put up in Beffina on 20 October, 2014. This is a remote and distant village where no other organization has checked in for relief or aid till date. 150 houses in this village have been completely ravaged to ruins. Surprisingly enough this Camp, that too on the remarkable Avtaar Declaration Day of Bhagwaan Sri Sathya Sai Baba; was set up in a Government School tutoring only 200 children. Besides, it’s cognizant to every Sai Lover that Swami has a special cordiality and affinity towards children.

Approximately 250 people were benefited and 200 Blankets were distributed among the down-and-out. The School Principal has solicited for 100 school bags, v necked grey coloured sweaters, grey coloured socks, grey trousers, white shirts, shoes and different sports equipment viz badminton rackets, table tennis, carom boards, chess boards etc.

Third Medical Camp on 21.10.2014:

Third Camp in Srinagar was organized on 21 October, 2014; in Arrigutmoo village nearby Kalimgunj village in Kulgaam District. We have already visited the Kalimgunj village in our first visit (Mentioned earlier in Report No. 1). No relief has approached Arrigutmoo till date. The village is in an utterly dilapidated condition. We appeased the miserable people and distributed 350 Blankets among them, as per the recommendations of the residents of village.

FUTURE PLAN AFTER THE DIWALI BREAK:

We intend to give 750 Quilts and Mattresses and Beddings for the orphanages in Srinagar. Furthermore we propose to carry on with 15-20 similar Medical Camps till 15 November, 2014. The Team of Senior Office Bearers shall conduct survey of Southern Kashmir, to apprehend the quintessence requisites of the people in the areas where extensive devastation has been endured.

To summarize the activities, the Sathya Sai Samithi sent 1 truck load of blankets to Jammu Area and 3 Mix Truck loads consisting of Blankets, Stationary and Medicines etc. to serve different areas in J&K. Further, a serious planning is being done for the reconstruction/repair of Houses/Schools etc. in the areas most affected by the Flood ravages.

We beseech our heartfelt prayers before our beloved Bhagwan Baba, to shower his utmost grace on each of us, so that we can pacify the despondent people with the needful aids and assistance.

THE DIVINE STORY OF SHIRDI SAI PARTHI SAI - Part 39

http://media.radiosai.org/journals/Vol_06/01MAR08/05-ssps.htm

After this scorpion incident, there was a great change in Sathya. He seemed withdrawn and lost in spirit...ual contemplation. Sometimes, He would speak of places and pilgrim centres He had never visited and give graphic descriptions too! Though He had never been to Shirdi, He would speak about that place.

Sathya continued to go to school but brother Seshama Raju was much worried about the change that had come in Him. Seshama wrote a letter to his parents about these changes. And then…

The scene is Venkama Raju’s house in Puttaparthi. Kondama Raju is also present.
VENKAMA RAJU: Our Seshama has written a letter.

EASWARAMMA: Is that so? What has Seshama written?………. What does he say about Sathyam?

VEKAMA RAJU: Easwari, it seems Sathyam was stung by a scorpion.

EASWARAMMA: What did you say? Sathyam bitten by a scorpion?! My God! What happened? How is He?

VEKAMA RAJU: Don’t get excited Easwari, nothing will happen to Him.

SISTER: Scorpion bite is itself very dangerous! Father, can there be a greater danger?

VENKAMA RAJU: Don’t get worried, my dear. Snakes and scorpions are common in villages, and it is natural for them to bite.

EASWARAMMA: Are you suggesting that being stung by a scorpion is a natural occurrence? How lightly you speak! If my child is bitten by a scorpion, will I not feel anguish?

What is the relationship God, Nature and us? Bhagawan lovingly explains to us in His own inimitable style.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Thursday, October 30, 2014

In the cosmic context, Nature is the mirror, God is the vie...wer. All that is reflected in Nature is Divine. God alone exists everywhere. The object and the image appear because of the presence of the mirror. When there is no mirror, there is no image! God’s arithmetic is different from that of human beings. When a mirror is placed before you, you have three entities – you, the mirror and your image. When you take away one from three, according to normal arithmetic, there must be two entities, because ‘3 - 1 = 2’. However in the cosmic arithmetic, there is no ‘two’ because when the mirror is removed, only ‘you’ remain! This is the mystery relating to Nature and the wonders of the Lord. The glories of the Lord are multifarious and marvelous, beyond words.

Skhanda Sashti Festival

Today October 29, 2014 is the sixth and final day of Skhanda Sashti, the most important festival dedicated to Lord Skanda. The 6th day is known as Soorasamharam. Skhanda Sashti began on October 24, 2014 (Friday)

Lord Skanda is son of God Shiva and Goddess Parvati and younger brother of Lord Ganesha. God Skanda is also known as Murugan, Kartikeyan and Subramanya.

The day of Skanda Sashti is de...cided based on lunar month and it falls during sixth day of Karthika Masam.

During Kanda Sashti, devotees observe six days fasting which starts from first day or Pirathamai of Karthika lunar month and ends on the sixth day which is known as Soorasamharam day.

Soorasamharam is the final and the most important day of the six days festivities. It is believed that Lord Murugan defeated Demon Surapadman on the very same day and the festival of Soorasamharam is observed every year to mark the victory of good over evil.

It is important to note that the day when Shasti Tithi conjugates with Panjami Tithi is chosen for Soorasamharam Vratam. Hence most temples observe Kanda Sashti on Panjami Tithi if Shasti Tithi starts before sunset on Panjami Tithi.

Kanda Sashti celebrations at Thiruchendur Murugan Temple are the most famous one. The six days celebrations which start from Pirathamai of Karthika Masam culminate on Soorasamharam day. Thiru Kalyanam is observed on the next day of Soorasamharam.

Skanda Sashti is also known as Kanda Shashti.

Today Soorasamharam.

The popular belief is tchat Lord Muruga killed Soorapadman with his ‘Vel’ and this divine act is known as Soorasamharam. On the day, devotees celebrate this victory of good over evil and restoration of Dharma.

According to Skanda Purana, the demons under the leadership of Surapadma, Simhamukha and Tarakasura defeated the Devas and took over the earth. They started harassing t...he human beings and there was Adharma all around.

Lord Brahma, the demi-gods and humans prayed to Lord Shiva to intervene and to put an end to the demons Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati gave birth to Lord Muruga – the most handsome god and the commander of the Devas.

Lord Muraga then appeared to fight the demons and the fight continued for six days and killed all the attendants and friends of demon Surapadman. On the final day, there was intense battle between Muruga and Soorapadman.

Finally, Lord Muruga pierced the body of Surapadma with his Vel (lance). Suddenly, demon Surapadma transformed into a huge mango tree but Lord Muruga cut the tree vertically into two pieces with His Vel.

The two pieces transformed into a peacock and cock. Lord Muruga took the peacock as his vahana or vehicle and the cock was given a place on his banner. This event is popularly known as Surasamharam.

HEAD MASTER [pointing to his chair]: Sathyam, sit in that chair.

SATHYA: Sir, that is the teacher’s chair. It is yours. A student must sit at the feet of the Guru!

HEAD MASTER: My boy, that is why I asked You to sit there! Though You are young in age, You are the Guru of all Gurus! We are Gurus only in this School whereas You are the Guru of the whole world!

The Head Master prostrates before Sathya and touches His Feet.

SATHYA: Master! What is this!

HEAD MASTER: If I touch Your Feet, my life will be sanctified!

SATHYA: What is this Master? Please get up…. Get up. What’s all this?…….Listen, you are much older than Me. You shouldn’t do such a thing.

HEAD MASTER: Devotion has nothing to do with age. There is Divinity in You – that is my firm faith and belief.

That is why I have received this great and good fortune to worship You in this manner!

Sathya materialises Vibhuti and gives it to the Head Master.

HEAD MASTER: God’s Prasadam (gift)!

What is the easiest way to free ourselves from difficulties and trouble – in present and future? Bhagawan shares the secret with us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Wednesday, October 29, 2014

The Himalayas or ‘Himachal...a’ forms the Northern boundary of India. ‘Hima’ means ice. It is white in colour and melts easily. Whiteness symbolizes purity. ‘Achala’ means that which is steady. Your heart should also be like the Himachala - pure, steady and which melts with compassion. God resides in each and every heart that is pure, steady and full of compassion. But today, many hearts have lost these noble qualities due to limitless desires. Life is a long journey and your desire is the luggage. The journey of your life will become enjoyable only when you reduce the luggage of desires. Less luggage, more comfort makes travel a pleasure! The Gita teaches that you should offer everything to God (“Sarva Karma, Bhagavadh Preethyartham”). You must perform every single action with the only goal to please God. This is the easiest and most effective way to be free from all difficulties and hardships.

Do all your tasks as offering to God; do not classify some as ‘my work’ and some as ‘His’ work.-BABA.

The scene is Seshama Raju’s house. Word has spread that Sathya has given a blank answer. Seshama has heard the news; he is worried and questioning Sathya about it.

SESHAMA RAJU: Sathyam, it seems You have given blank answer books in the exam. Are You not serious about studies?

SATHYA: It is not correct to say that I have not written the exam. I have done so.

SESHAMA: But Your Teacher told me that You did not write even a single word in the answer paper!

SATHYA: He will himself tell you that I answered very well.

SESHAMA: I don’t like this attitude. You are behaving like a crazy person. Tomorrow when the marks are announced, we will know the stuff You are made of. I shall then teach You a fitting lesson!

SUSEELA [to husband]: Please take this…….Sathyam, freshen Yourself, and come for tiffin.

What is the best way to sanctify this precious gift of the human body? Bhagawan lovingly explains to us and guides us to introspect.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Tuesday, October 28, 2014

Human life is the combination of body, mind and soul. Body is the basis to attain wisdom. Therefore it should not be misused. You must purify your body and mind by undertaking sacred actions. Do not underestimate the potentialities of the human body. In fact the human body is the basis for attaining the goal of life. Work for the redemption of your life by chanting the Divine Name and undertaking sacred activities. You need not make any special effort to acquire the human values – they are latent within you, right from your birth. You have forgotten them, as you failed to practice them. Instead of giving tons of speeches, practice at least an ounce of what you have learnt. Humanity is on the decline only because people are not practicing human values. You are developing desires (asalu) forgetting ideals (adarsalu).

Do we really need to pray hard for what we want? Bhagawan lovingly answers this million dollar question for us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Monday, October 27, 2014

Control your desires. Cultivate love for God. That love will confer on you everything you need. There is no need for you to ask anything from God. Did Rama not give to Shabari what she needed without her asking? Did He not bless Jatayu with His Grace? Dasharatha had prayed for so long that his son should perform the last rites for him. But he did not get it, while the bird Jatayu got the privilege of a few drops of water from Rama before its death and attained liberation. Rama even performed his last rites. Mother Shabari was eagerly waiting for Lord Rama’s arrival with sweet fruits for several years. Her intense devotion to the Lord fetched its reward – God confers His Grace according to each one’s deservedness and it cannot be secured by agraha (force or power).

- My Dear Students, Vol 3, Ch 17, “Sri Adi Shankaracharya: His Message”

SATHYA [to a lady near the well]: That poor old man is struggling to draw water. Could you not help?

LADY: If You are so full of concern, why don’t You draw for that man?

SECOND LADY: Leave that boy alone and pour water into this vessel.

SATHYA: Grandpa, you step aside…..Move over, and I’ll draw.

Sathya draws water for the old man.

OLD MAN: May You live long and be happy!

A LADY: My dear boy, can You give me also some water?

SATHYA: Certainly mother.

Radio Sai : (From Archives) Swami and Me : A MILLION MOTHER'S LOVE By Mr. Rakesh Menon.

I was blessed to be at Swami’s feet between the years 1994 to 1997. I was not a devotee before I joined Swami’s University, neither was anybody in my family. But we had heard of Baba’s colleg...e as a unique institution which imparted human values. One of my uncles got me the application form and brought me to Puttaparthi, where I wrote the entrance examination. Swami, at that time, was in Kodai Kanal. Nevertheless, the general ambience of the ashram kindled in me the urge to learn more about Swami.

The first step to the change lay in my acceptance of Swami as God. But how could I accept someone as my guru and God, when I had not even seen Him? Wasn’t it foolhardy to invest my faith on a person, of whom I had only learnt from hearsay? So I decided to test Bhagavan!

one evening in Trayee Session , I was sitting quite far away from the Jhoola (the swing on which Swami generally sat). When Swami came, He looked around, searched among the boys, spotted me and then He asked me to come towards Him. Had I committed a grievous mistake I wondered, as I went up to Him?

But when I came closer, Swami pulled me towards Him, held me in a warm, loving embrace, and said, “This boy lost his mother. This boy lost his one mother but I will give him a thousand mothers’ love.” And then, He created a ring for me.

What words of gratitude can I have for my Swami, who, time and again, showered His love on me, treating me more like a son than a student? He has given me the love of a mother and the guidance of a father – a love that keeps me joyful and brings me back to Him, a love that gives me strength in my career and helps me face life and all its challenges. And I know that I never need to worry, for my Mother’s watchful eyes are always on me – caring, protecting, guiding, comforting and loving.

What is the easiest way to attain the Lord? Bhagawan lovingly explains us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Sunday, October 26, 2014

Let us not relate to God as a hidden, invisible entity. God doesn’t live in a place foreign to your dwelling. He is installed in you. He is with you, in you, above you, around you and below you. We have forgotten the easy way to reach God. All sufferings will vanish in no time if we sincerely call out to the Lord and sing His glory. The Lord’s Name is the only refuge to cross all the difficulties. There is nothing greater or mightier than His Name. The moment one chants His glory and sings His name, one attains bliss. Meditation and many rituals were followed in many ages, but in Kali age, chanting God’s Name (Namasmarana) is the only way to attain the Supreme.

THE DIVINE STORY OF SHIRDI SAI PARTHI SAI - Part 34

http://media.radiosai.org/journals/Vol_05/01OCT07/05-ssps.htm

At the time Sathya went to the Pushpagiri Carnival, He had not yet declared to the world that He was an Incarnation of God, that He was a Poorna Avatar. That would come later, in October, 1940. But already, He was proclaiming His Message – Love, Compassion, Sacrifice and Selfless Service. He had no money, yet He went. In the process, He faced many difficulties. He showed by His own personal example, even at an early age, that if one wants to serve, then one must be prepared to face any number of difficulties. For example, with twelve annas, He had to sustain Himself for ten days. Food was no doubt inexpensive those days; still twelve annas was too small an amount for ten days. He ate only once a day, quietly, without letting anyone know when He ate and what He ate. When friends asked Sathya to join them for food, He would say, “I have already eaten.” If they refused to believe, He would hold out His hand, and they would get the smell of food! He would have just drunk water but yet, the hand would carry the smell of food! That was His miracle, performed out of love for the boys; Sathya did not want them to feel pain on His account.

The scene is the Carnival. Sathya is talking to one of His friends.

What is the sign of a ripe mind? Bhagawan lovingly gives us an indicator through a simple metaphor.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Saturday, October 25, 2014

Every being passes through the stages of birth, youth, old age and death. Childhood is spent in playing, youth in family life and old age in discharging responsibilities. One way or the other, there is mental suffering associated with each of these stages. Our attitude to life is akin to that of a tamarind. The tamarind is made up of three parts – the seed, the skin and the fruit. Similarly a human being has the gross body, the subtle body and the causal body. Suppose a raw, young tamarind is hit with a stone, the outer layer as well as the inner layer will be hurt. On the other hand, when a ripe tamarind is hit with a stone, only the outer skin breaks and the juice is available for consumption. The one with worldly associations is similar to a raw tamarind. Gradually, give up all desires, as the nature of desires is to multiply.

- My Dear Students, Vol 3, Ch 16, “Sri Adi Shankaracharya: His Life”

When the fruit is ripe, it will fall off the branch of its own accord. Similarly, when renunciation (Vairagya) saturates your heart, you lose contact with the world and slip into the lap of the Lord. – BABA.

Sathya decides to walk all the way to the Pushpagiri Fair. The distance is about fifteen kilometres but He has no other choice; no money. He trudges all through the night and reaches the destination in the early hours of the morning. He catches up on some sleep, has a bath in the river there, and then heads for the Carnival site. On the way, while crossing a sandy patch, He finds a packet of beedies [native cigarettes] and a one anna coin. At that time, a man comes that way.

SATHYA: [to man] Sir, are these beedies and this one Anna coin yours?

MAN: Not mine, boy.

Sathya buries the beedies in the sand, and keeps the coin. He continues to walk and arrives at the Carnival site. There He finds a petty gambler running a betting game.

GAMBLER: Bet, man, bet! Sisters and brothers, come and place your bets! Offer salutations to Goddess Lakshmi and try your luck! Bet, bet, …..

A MAN: What are the odds?

GAMBLER: An Anna for an Anna, a paisa for a paisa; it is fifty-fifty! Bet, come on, bet.
Again the dice is thrown.

GAMBLER: You are riding high! Great! Take your battery light! No magic, no witch-craft, no cheating, no betrayal. [to a spectator] Brother, are you from Srikakulam or Simhachalam?

MAN: Velakulam.

GAMBLER: My town. When I was young, I used to live there with an aunt of mine.

MAN: Okay, I wager a beda or two annas.

How can we lead a life of self-respect, fearlessness and confidence? Bhagawan explains to us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Friday, October 24, 2014

With the Lord’s name as the very breath of your life, engage in all life's activities, with no fear of fall. When the mind weds worldly activity (pravrithi), the progeny is bondage; when it weds spiritual renunciation (nivrithi), the progeny is freedom. Nivrithi confers fearlessness, and grants strength and courage, for it is desire that weakens man and makes one cringe. Detachment endows you with self-respect, and the capacity to stand up to slander and calumny. There are some who weep at the slightest sign of defeat or disappointment. This is despicable behaviour. When the Lord is installed in the altar of your heart why should you have fear or sorrow? Do you not know He is there, guarding you and guiding you? He is in all beings, always. Remember this fact wherever you are and whatever you may do. If only you do not give up the recitation of His Name you will succeed.

- Divine Discourse, 24 Oct 1965.

Keep the name of the Lord always radiant on your tongue and mind, which will keep the antics of the mind under control. -BABA

Diwali - An Exposition by Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba

Lead Me from Darkness to Light

From the very name of the Dipavali festival, it can be seen that the Divine effulgence is manifested in it. Dipavali means the array of lights. Tamaso maa Jyotirgamaya (Lead me from darkness to light), is an Upanishadic prayer. This means that where there is darkness, light is needed. What is this darkness? Sorrow is one form of darkness. Peacelessness is another. Loss is another. Disappointment is one form of darkness. Lack of enthusiasm is another. To get rid of the darkness of sorrow, you have to light the lamp of happiness. To dispel the darkness of disease, you have to install the light of health. To get rid of the darkness of losses and failures, you have to usher in the light of prosperity. These apparently opposing conditions are not totally separate from each other. They are inter-related. If there is no sorrow, one cannot know the value of happiness. If there is no darkness, the value of light cannot be appreciated. Hence, if the greatness of light is to be realised, darkness is necessary. It is rightly said that pleasure is an interval between two pains. From the practical worldly point of view, the festivals have one aspect. From the spiritual viewpoint, they carry different significance. But there is a common purport in both." Sai Baba, SS. 12/91, p. 326

THE DIVINE STORY OF SHIRDI SAI PARTHI SAI - Part 32

http://media.radiosai.org/journals/Vol_05/01AUG07/05-ssps.htm
...
Sathya comes back home and ponders deeply. His teacher and classmates want Him to go with them to the Scout Camp. For that, He must have money. But His brother has told Him to tell the Teacher that there is no money. Is there any other way of generating at least some money? He hit upon an idea. He has just been promoted to the next higher class. He no longer needs His old books. They are in very good condition. Perhaps, He could offer them on sale and get some cash. He decides to go to the house of a boy He knows, who might like to buy His books.

SATHYA: [standing outside the house of the boy] Kondalu, Kondalu!

KONDALU: [comes out] Raju, what brings You here?

SATHYA: You wanted old books, didn’t you? Look, I have brought them!

KONDALU: Old books? These appear to be new!

SATHYA: I don’t use these for My study; that’s why they are looking new.

KONDALU: What is the price?

SATHYA: I’ll give it to you at half-rate.

KONDALU: Half-rate means?

SATHYA: Ten rupees.

KONDALU: Ten rupees?

SATHYA: Yes, only ten rupees. With ten rupees, I can go the Pushpagiri Carnival and do service. That is why I am selling these books to you.

What is the significance we must learn from the festival of Deepavali? What is the genuine way to celebrate Deepavali? Bhagawan lovingly explains to us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Thursday, October 23, 2014

The festival of Deepavali is to express gratitude at the defeat of the Naraka (demonic) tendencies in man, which drags one down from Divinity. Naraka, whose death at the hands of Krishna is celebrated today, signifies hell. Narakaasura is the personification of all the traits of character that obstruct the upward impulses of man. The human being is a composite of man, beast and God, and in the inevitable struggle among the three for ascendency, you must ensure that God wins, suppressing the merely human and the lowly beast. The griha (home) where the Name of the Lord is not heard is a guha (cave), and nothing more. As you enter it, as you leave it and while you are in it, regularly perfume it, illumine it and purify it with the Name. Light it as a lamp at dusk and welcome it at dawn, as you welcome the Sun. That is the genuine Deepavali, the Festival of Lamps.

- Divine Discourse, Oct 24, 1965.

Fill your hearts with the light of Love so that the evil qualities of hate, greed and conceit find no place therein. -BABA

THE DIVINE STORY OF SHIRDI SAI PARTHI SAI - Part 31

http://media.radiosai.org/journals/Vol_05/01JUL07/05-ssps.htm

...Sathya moves over to Kamalapuram along with Seshama, and is admitted to the High School there. The scene is a classroom, and the class is the one to which Sathya belongs.
TEACHER: [to boys] Attention!

BOY: Sir, this is not a playground! It is a classroom!!

Boys laugh

TEACHER: Silence, silence! I know that!! ….. I wish to tell you something very important. Sit down, sit down! …. Boys, all of you have joined the Scout movement to do social service and thereby serve the people as well as the country. If all the boys in India were fired with such enthusiasm, the country would become free and prosperous. Isn’t that so? Service will promote a sense of responsibility. Everyone must have a sense of service and responsibility.

BOY: Sir, when does the Pushpagiri Carnival take place?

TEACHER: Who is that boy so eager to do social service? [stares at the boy] … Now listen carefully. The Carnival will commence next Monday and last for ten days. All of you must get Khaki uniforms stitched, and perform service there for ten days. The expenses would be ten rupees per head.

BOY: What expenses, sir?

TEACHER: Don’t be impatient! I’ll give the break-up. There is the to-and-fro bus fare, and the living expenses for ten days. Now do you understand?

BOY: Yes sir.

TEACHER: All of you must participate without fail. Now, those who will come, raise your hands! Next, those who will not, raise your hands! ….[all boys except Sathya raise their hands] What’s this Sathyam? You will not come? Listen, You are the Leader of the class, and You have got to come! Now, raise Your hand!

ANTARA JYOTHI JALAAO SAI – DIWALI WITH SAI’S TRINITY

Radiosai Special Facebook timeline to celebrate the Auspicious occasion of Deepavali.

Deepavali, the festival of Lights is celebrated on the new moon day in the month of ‘Ashwin’ of the Indian lunar Calendar. It usually falls... in late October or early November. Deepavali or Diwali, the most pan-Indian of all Hindu festivals, is a festival of lights symbolizing the victory of righteousness over evil and the lifting of spiritual darkness. The word ‘Deepavali’ literally means ‘rows of lamps’. The lamp is not merely the symbol of knowledge of Truth, but also of the one Atma (spirit) that shines in all.

Legend has it that it was on this day the demon ‘Narakasura’ was vanquished and 16000 Gopikas (cowherd maidens devoted to Lord Krishna) who were held in captivity were freed from the clutches of the demon by Lord Krishna. To mark the end of gloom and sadness, the Gopikas celebrated the occasion by lighting lamps and bursting crackers and fireworks.

In each legend, myth and story of Deepavali lies the significance of the victory of good over evil; and it is with each Deepawali and the lights that illuminate our homes and hearts, that this simple truth finds new reason and hope.

SAT CHIT ANANDA - DIWALI WITH SAI’S TRINITY

“On Dipavali day, we light numerous lamps with one candle. The light with which other lamps are lit is a symbol of the Divine. Other lamps are Jivana Jyothis (individual lamps). They derive their light from the One Supreme Light. It is to teach this truth to men that the Festival of Lights (Deepavali) is observed. Thus, every festival has an inner meaning and purpose." -Baba, SS, 1/90. p. II

Feel free to make it your facebook timeline cover and share it among to celebrate this grand festival with us. Enjoy Divine Diwali with Divine Lord heart and catch the vibe of Divine essence around you. Lit the light of wisdom and knowledge among all and spread the Universal light of Swami’s unconditional love in every corners of the world.

Thank you and loving Sai Ram,

What is the resolve we must take to bring illumination to ourselves and to those around? Bhagawan lovingly explains to us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Wednesday, October 22, 2014

Do not be elated by riches, status, authority, intelligence, etc., which you may have. Consider that they have been given to you on trust, so that you may benefit others. They are all signs of His Grace, opportunities of service, and symbols of responsibility. Never seek to exult over others' faults; deal sympathetically with the errors and mistakes of others. Seek the good in others; hear only good tidings about them; do not give ear to scandal. On the occasion of Deepavali, resolve to light the lamp of Namasmarana and place it at your doorstep, the lips. Feed it with the oil of devotion; let steadiness be the wick. Let the lamp illumine every minute of your life. The splendour of the Name will drive away darkness from outside you as well as inside. You will spread joy and peace among all who come near you.

- Divine Discourse, Oct 24, 1965.

Only by the light of the Divine lamp inside can you blossom as a worthwhile person.-BABA

THE DIVINE STORY OF SHIRDI SAI PARTHI SAI - Part 30

http://media.radiosai.org/journals/Vol_05/01JUN07/05-ssps.htm

A group of boys are playing on the bank of the river. They are jumping around and catching frogs.

CHORUS: Look, there’s a frog! See, a small frog here! Jump like frogs!! I got one! I got two frogs!!

BOY 1: Hey, don’t touch them; it is not good.

BOY 2: We’ll take all these home.

BOY 3: How shall we take them?

BOY 4: Here’s a basket; put them all in.

Sathya comes along and watches the boys causing pain to the frogs.

SATHYA: Stop, stop! Poor things, let them be free and play happily; don’t imprison them in the basket.

BOY: If they are happy playing, so are we.

SATHYA: If play is what you want, let us all play together. Does anyone play with frogs? See how they are suffering. Let them go. You must not kill living beings.

ANOTHER BOY: We are not killing them but just taking them home.

THIRD BOY: We will play with them.

Where is God? Where is He to be sought and how? Bhagawan reminds and guides us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Tuesday, October 21, 2014

God is inscrutable. He cannot be realised in the outer objective world; He is in the very heart of every being. You extol God as omnipresent, omniscient and omnipotent, but ignore His presence in you! Who can affirm that God is this or that? Who can affirm that God is not of this form or with this attribute? Each one can acquire from the vast expanse of the ocean only as much as can be contained in the vessel one carries to its shore. From that quantity, they can grasp but little of that immensity. Gemstones have to be sought deep underground; they do not float in mid-air. Seek God in the depths of yourself, not in the tantalising, kaleidoscopic Nature. The body is granted to you for this high purpose; but, you are now misusing it, like the person who cooked his daily food in the gem studded gold vase that came into his hands as an heirloom.

- Divine Discourse, 19 June 1974.

Radio Sai Avatar Day Special: THE BLISS OF BHAJAN OFFERINGS AT THY LOTUS FEET

Today is the most awaited and coveted day! For all those across the world who have been touched by the love of our Beloved Swami, it is a moment they are eternally grateful for. It is only because the Lord chose to let us know Him that we know Him. It is only because the Lord let us feel Him, that we feel Him. It is only because the Lord let us love Him, that we love Him, and yes, in joy we sing to Him, sing for Him!

It is to share this joy of singing for the Lord from the depths of our soul that we requested bhajan compositions from all of you about a month ago. Yes, we invited this in the form of a competition. And what a response we received!

Over 160 original amazing bhajans from Saudi Arabia, Germany, Nepal, Singapore, England, Bahrain, Canada, Malaysia, Croatia, Australia, New Zealand, Netherlands, UAE, USA, South Africa...... and plenty from India of course.

Nevertheless we passed on this treasure to each of the four distinguished members of the Prasanthi Mandir Bhajan Group who had kindly accepted to evaluate these compositions.

Read the details of their thoughts after getting all those bhajans here: http://media.radiosai.org/journals/vol_12/01OCT14/bhajan-competition.htm

So that is where we found ourselves two days ago and we prayed to Bhagawan for guidance. And now this is what we feel inspired to do.

a) We will release all these unique musical offerings for everyone to listen, relish and share. All the 161 will be available for you to enjoy on our website on this Thursday, October 23, 2014. We will publish the stories behind their emergence too.

b) As promised, we offered all these songs of love at the Lotus Feet of Bhagawan, at His Sannidhi, just after the Avatar Declaration Day evening programme. We felt so beholden to Swami for having given us this opportunity to present such beautiful pieces of your souls to Him.

c) Every single participant is going to receive a token of gratitude and love from Radio Sai! And this will be something which will definitely bring a smile on your face. So look forward to it! We cannot thank you enough for the joy you have given us.

Dear participants, we want to reiterate that our original intention was definitely to have this as a competition and announce the winners. But now we stand humbled. How mistaken we were! How could bhajans, something that connects us to the Divine, ever enter the domain of being a competition? How can anyone ever measure the feeling that wells up in our being when we pour out our heart singing for Him?

Dear Lord, we offer our sincere gratitude to You for correcting us and enlightening us on this special day when You gifted to mankind this life-transforming Bhajan movement through Manasa Bhajare Guru Charanam....

Yes, at Thy lotus feet Dear Lord, we place ourselves wholly, soulfully, and completely. Let our lives become a song of Your Love.

Let us declare to ourselves today that we live for Sai and Sai alone. To see Him in all. To feel Him in all. To sing for Him in all.

Read more details about the result of ‘SEND US YOUR BHAJAN’ here: http://media.radiosai.org/journals/vol_12/01OCT14/bhajan-competition.htm

Thank you and loving Sai Ram,

THE DIVINE STORY OF SHIRDI SAI PARTHI SAI - Part 29

http://media.radiosai.org/journals/Vol_05/01MAY07/05-ssps.htm

...
Young Sathya used many methods in order to turn people towards the spiritual path. One of these was to form a Bhajan group for boys. Sathya led the boys in singing Bhajan songs that were in praise of Vittala, one of the names of Lord Krishna.

One day, these boys arrange a special Bhajan programme for the benefit of the villagers. The event is a great success. Everyone is filled with bliss.

Easwaramma is especially proud of her son. When Satya returns home, she performs a small ritual that was supposed to ward off evil and jealous eyes.

SATHYA: Mother, why do you have to do all this? No evil eye can touch Me!

VENKAMMA: You sang Bhajans so well, and everyone was closely looking at You. Some of them might have had evil eyes, and mother is doing this to cancel the bad effect.

SATHYA: Everyone looks at the idol of God but nothing happens to the idol.

What is the significance of Sai Avatar? How can we profit from it? Bhagawan explains to us today on the Avatar Declaration Day.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Monday, October 20, 2014

‘Sa’ means Divine; ‘ai’ or ‘ayi’ means Mother and ‘Baba’ means Father. The Name, Sai Baba means Divine Mother and Father. Sai’s descent is to achieve the supreme task of uniting the entire mankind as one family through the bond of brotherhood and to affirm and illumine the Divine (Aathmic) Reality within each and every being. The Divine takes the form as Avatar to reveal Himself as the basis for the entire Cosmos, and to instruct all to recognise the common divine heritage that binds everyone; so that human beings can work hard to rid themselves of animalistic qualities. I am the embodiment of Love; Love is My instrument. I reveal truth about Myself for, I desire that you should contemplate on this and derive joy. Also, may you be inspired to observe the disciplines laid down and progress towards the goal of Self-Realisation. Realise the Sai who shines in your hearts.

- Divine Discourse, 19 June 1974.

AVATAR DECLARATION DAY of Sathya Sai Advent

A Special Radiosai facebook Timeline cover to Celebrate the Divine Declaration Day of Bhagawan Baba.

October 20, 1940. It was on this day, that Bhagawan Baba unveiled the mystery surrounding His birth, life and mission. He declared to the people around, and through them to the entire mankind, that He indeed is the Supreme Consciousness embodied in a d...iminutive and delightful form. “I am no longer your Sathya, I am Sai…I have My work; My devotees are calling Me…” He announced candidly on that day.

Ever since, this eternal reservoir of energy and empathy, hope and happiness, solace and succour, light and love, has nursed and nurtured, and ensured that the tiny seed of goodness latent within every individual grows into a gigantic tree of love and serenity. And like a perfect teacher, He has demonstrated this more by living that principle in every moment of His own life. The result is a luminescent legacy that will continue to illumine the dark alleys of humanity’s collective consciousness, elevating it to a state of absolute sublimity for generations to come.

Declaration of Avatarhood – Sathya Sai Teaches His First Sermon

The Excise Inspector, Mr. Anjaneluyu, was an ardent devotee. Little Sathyam went straight to the garden of his residence. His yard held a rock, which became the foundation on which Swami sat and began His Work of transforming hearts. Word quickly spread about Sathya’s presence in the garden and soon a crowd gathered around the rock, some to worship, a few to mock, and many strictly out of curiosity.

It was on 20 October 1940 that the 14-year old Sathya declared His Avatarhood, and a significant new chapter was written into the saga of the Sai Avatar – one that generations would see as a turning point in the collective destiny of all humanity, nay for the entire universe, for we now realize the infinity of His glory. It was here that He taught his first sermon, a prayer that is so dear to millions and holds an eternal message for all aspiring souls.

“(Meditate O mind on the Feet of the Guru; for He alone can take you across the difficult sea of samsara (worldly existence).” - Samsara is the cycle of birth and death; the process of coming into existence as a differentiated, mortal creature over and over again until one is able to break this repeated rigmarole and merge back into the Infinite Source.

Thus from the beginning, Swami promised to lift us up and become our vehicle for a safe passage above the stormy waters that threaten to engulf us.

Feel free to make it your timeline cover and share with to Celebrate this historical day with us. Cherish every moment you have spent with Lord as every moment is filled with eternal joy of His selfless affection. Follow Sai legacy to make our life His Divine message.

Thank you and loving Sai Ram,

What should we do to have a continuous stream of bliss in our lives? Bhagawan lovingly explains us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Sunday, October 19, 2014

You may undertake any number of spiritual practices, but never forget God’s name even for a moment. Never do anything that will take you away from God. You can achieve anything through prayer. You need not pray loudly; it is enough if you pray mentally. God resides in your heart and listens to all your prayers. If you aspire to attain His grace, contemplate on Him incessantly. Worldly difficulties come and go. Do not attach much importance to them. Through prayer one can overcome any difficulty. Only God’s grace is true and everlasting, strive to attain it. Chant the name of God day in and day out. That alone will protect you at all times. Just as air is all pervasive, God is present in you, with you, around you, below you, above you. Hence be in constant communion with Him. When you develop faith in Divinity, you will naturally have unity. Consequently, there will be no scope for enmity.

- Divine Discourse, 21 July 2005.

Through prayer and contemplation on God, you must try to control the evil qualities in you.-BABA

...
Sathya comes home, thorns all over His dress and on His head too. His sisters and mother are shocked.

PARVATHAMMA: What’s this Sathya! I see so many thorns in Your head! Did You fall on a thorny bush?

VENKAMMA: O my God! So many thorns, so many of them! ….Mother see!

EASWARAMMA: What my dear?

VENKAMMA: Look how many thorny nuts are stuck in Sathya’s hair. Mother, see!

EASWARAMMA: Oh! So many thorns! Sathyam what happened? O my dear child, how did it happen?

SATHYA: Mother, why are you so agitated? Good and bad, friendship and hatred, pleasure and pain, are all near each other! ….. I replied very well to the Master’s questions and he liked My answers. The other boys could not answer properly, and became angry with Me. To give vent to their anger, they pelted thorny nuts at Me.

PARVATHAMMA: They hit you?! I’ll ask father to break their bones!

VENKAMMA: If we tell grandfather, he’ll take care of all of them!

Radiosai Special Report: HUDHUD Relief Measures by Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organizations, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Hudhud is beautiful bird, but the damage created by the super cyclone Hudhud is beyond words. It was never heard in the history to have heard about such a massive destruction and devastation. The north coastal districts of AP Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam bore the brunt and especially Visakhapatnam is smashed and beyond recognition.

However, always inspired by Bhagawan’s message of “Hands that Serve are Holier than the Lips that Pray”, with the Divine Blessings and immense grace of our beloved Bhagawan, Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organizations, A.P & Telangana has started the relief and rescue operations in the cyclone affected areas of Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam. The district organizations of the states have sent the materials and the SSSSO, Visakhapatnam have distributed the items to the most needy people.

There has been unstinted support from Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust and constant personal monitoring of Sri SG Chalam, State President, Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organizations, A.P and Telangana. Scores of devotees, Sevadal, youth wings, teachers, non-teaching staff, DJP children are actively involved in the rescue operations. Though there were no network connections, no power, no water BUT the Divine work goes on and on with His Divine Grace.

Radio Sai H2H Special: NATURAL CALAMITIES: WHO'S RESPONSIBLE? - A Panel Discussion

Brand New - PART 04, PART 05 and PART 06

Despite our technological and scientific breakthroughs, why does humanity appear so helpless in face of the punitive damages that Nature's fury is hitting us with? What did Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba say about natural disasters and man's responsibility towards the environ...ment? Has this issue been tackled adequately in the ancient scriptures of India and if so, is that perspective still relevant to our times? And how is Adam Smith responsible for our rage to ravage our planet so ruthlessly?

Two academicians from the Sai University, Prof. Gangadhara Sastry (GS) of the Department of Political Science and Dr. Deepak Anand (DA) of the Department of Management Studies take up the hot buttons issues that few dare to touch.

We have published PART 1 - 3 previously. Here are the edited excerpts of brand new PART 4 - 6 of their discussion moderated by Radio Sai's Karuna Munshi (KM) on the topic of Natural Disasters.

What is the purpose of an Avatar? Is the Avatar here to alleviate all our suffering? Bhagawan lovingly explains to us.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Saturday, October 18, 2014

God is not a separate entity. Man is the image of God. Scriptures declare, God appears in human form (Daivam maanusha rupena). Though God has no separate form, Avatars descend from time to time to show how human lives can be divinised. I have often declared that God does not come down as Avatar to relieve individuals of their troubles and sorrow and to confer joy and happiness on them. Difficulties, troubles and worries come in the natural course as a consequence of your past actions. The Gita declares: Human beings are bound by merits and demerits (Karma) from previous lives (Karmaanubandheeni manushya loke). As is your action, so is the reaction. When you stand before a mirror and offer salutations, the salutation is reflected by the image. If you scowl at the mirror, the harshness is reflected back at you.

- Divine Discourse, Sep 3, 1988.

Sadhana is essential because the effects of Karma have to be removed by karma alone, as the thorn is removable only by another thorn. – BABA.

SATHYA: Please no, I don’t want to.

BOY: You are always like this!

BOY 2: In that case, You look after our books while we go swimming.

Sathya watches, while others enter the water and start having fun. Meanwhile, another gang of boys come there. These boys are jealous of Sathya and do not like Him.

18th OCTOBER 2014,NEWS FROM PARTHI FROM SATISH NAIK

Om Sairam dearest Sai Family

Puttaparthi is buzzing with lots of activities post Dasara and a succesful grama seva which touched thousands of hearts..

HUDHUD CYCLONE AND HELP DONE BY SATHYA SAI ORGANISATIONS:

Even though many are thanking the technology for sending the right warnings on the intensity of the Hudhud cyclone that hit the coastal part of Andhra Pradesh and some part of Odhisha state.

The worst hit was the coastal city Visakhapatnam which is one of the most beautiful cities of India due to the beach. The government took every measure to shift about half a million people to safer places before the cyclone hit but the damage to the property was immeasurable and un stoppable.

There were thousands who lost their houses, no water, food and the communication system came to a stand still. It is at this time where the Sri Sathya Sai Organisation of Andhra Pradesh with support of the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust, showed its loving and caring nature by reaching the " unreached".

The Sai Organisation has a very strong hold in the coastal parts of Andhra Pradesh and they do so many socio welfare activities on a regular basis. As thousands were waiting for help from government it was the Sai volunteers that reached them before any one could and provided relief material.

Sathya’s house. People are engaged in doing various things. At that time, a beggar comes to the house, begging for food. As beggars normally do, he cried out to the lady of the house, though he could not see her. Seshama who is there near the door, asks the beggar to go away.

BEGGAR: Mother, please give me some food. I’m hungry!

SESHAMA RAJU: We are busy! Go elsewhere.

BEGGAR: Mother, please give me some food.

Sathya who is watching all this, quietly goes into the kitchen to fetch some food for the beggar. This matter is promptly reported to the mother by Sathya’s sister.

PARVATHAMMA: Sathya has gone to the kitchen.

VENKAMMA: Yes, He has gone to get some food for the beggar.

PARVATHAMMA: Mother is there; maybe He will ask her.

BEGGAR: Mother! Please give me some food.

Sathya brings food and gives it to the beggar.

BEGGAR: May you be happy, dear boy!

SESHAMA RAJU: [becoming angry] Sathya, come here. Is not mother there? What do you mean by giving food like this on your own? At this rate, nothing will be left us.

At times, it appears that the Divine Directions are contradictory. How do we resolve what is appropriate for us? Bhagawan clearly explains to us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Friday, October 17, 2014

There may be a few statements in Bhagavad Gita or other scriptures that might appear to contradict each other. For instance, in the Gita in one place, Lord Krishna stresses the need for action, at another the adherence to Dharma, and in another place commends renunciation of all Dharma and urges complete surrender to the Lord. These apparent contradictions are not contradictions. The teaching varies according to the state of spiritual development of the person concerned and the situation in which one is placed. The lesson here is one must pay due care and attention to understanding completely the inner significance of the great teachings of the Avatars and sages before any criticism is attempted.

- Divine Discourse at Trayee Brindavan, July 1988.

To resurrect love and compassion, you must purify your hearts by destroying jealousy and selfishness. -BABA.

Why is the observance of nonviolence important? Bhagawan lovingly explains and also elucidates what is true Ahimsa.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Thursday, October 16, 2014

The observance of nonviolence has been described as the highest form of Dharma. All the violence in the world today is due to the fact that people do not lead righteous lives. It has been said that the body has been given essentially to pursue Dharma. Among the teachings of the Buddha to the world, the foremost was Ahimsa (not causing harm to anyone). Nonviolence is not merely refraining from inflicting injuries on others with one's limbs or weapons. Nonviolence has to be practised with Thrikarana Shuddhi (purity of thought, word and deed). There should be no ill-feelings, which is itself a form of violence. To cause harm to others through one’s body is Himsa (violence). No one should be harmed even by speech. The speech should be sweet, pleasing and wholesome. All actions should be helpful to others.

- Divine Discourse, May 15, 1996.

A heart saturated with love of God can never entertain thoughts of violence.-BABA.

SATHYA: I did not write them.

TEACHER: What? Did not write? …. Why?

SATHYA: Because I already know the lesson, that’s why.

TEACHER: It is immaterial whether You know the lesson or not. When you are told to write the lesson, you must. Haven’t all the other boys done so?

SATHYA: Sir, all of them could not answer you, whereas I did.

TEACHER: So! You are proud, are You? Pride is not a qualification for students. I am certainly happy that You know the lesson. But, because You failed to write it down, You will have to stand up on the bench till the end of the class hour.

The class period is over. The bell rings. It is time for the Telugu teacher to leave and make way for the teacher who would handle the next period. That teacher is Mehboob Khan. Khan loves Sathya. He is aware of the innate Divinity in Sathya. It is to Khan that Sathya gave Vibhuti earlier. The Telugu teacher is unable to get off the chair. When he gets up, the chair also rises – he is stuck to the chair! This causes amusement to the students, all of whom except Sathya, roar with laughter.
