What is the subtle significance in treating God as a friend and being able to serve Him? Bhagawan lovingly explains to us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Wednesday, October 15, 2014

Krishna told Arjuna, "You are My devotee and My friend." Neither Arjuna declared himself as a devotee nor Krishna remained content with just declaring Arjuna to be His devotee. Why did Krishna say: “You are My friend?” This declaration has a profound spiritual significance. This will be clear only when we practice the spiritual life. If merely the Lord were to call Arjuna, "My friend" his ego could get inflated and he could take undue liberties with Krishna. If He were to say, "My dear, you are My devotee," he could become extremely submissive and maybe even develop fear towards the Lord. Fear should not be instilled; nor should he be encouraged to take excessive liberties. Hence the terms devotee and friend, were used by Krishna. "You are My friend. You may be free with Me up to a point. You are My devotee. So observe certain restraints. Exercise control over yourself in your devotion.”

- Divine Discourse at Trayee Brindavan, July 1988

God alone is totally selfless as friend and benefactor. -BABA.

Radio Sai : (From the Archives ) Swami and Me - “THIS LIFE IS FOR HIM”

An interview with Mr. Y. Siva Rama Krishnaiah,Principal, Sri Sathya Sai Higher Secondary School and Smt. Eswaramma English Medium School.

Prof. Gokak called me and said that they needed experienced lecturers for their college and not fresh ones like me. When Swami returned to Puttaparthi, I also came along with Him and told ...Him what Prof. Gokak had told me. Then, Swami asked me to wait, and I waited for five months!

In 1975, a miracle happened. One night, I returned from service, and we, my wife and I, were sleeping in our bedroom. Suddenly, Swami came into our room!

Yes, physically! He tried to wake me up but I wasn’t opening my eyes (I came to know of this later). But my wife woke up. Swami, then, sat on the bed! He spoke of a few things and then asked my wife to go to the library and check a particular newspaper. He also told her that in it there was an advertisement. After this, He just disappeared.

So, I went to the library and checked the newspaper Swami had mentioned. In one corner of this daily, I saw the ‘Wanted’ column, and there I saw an advertisement from a college seeking three chemistry teachers. It was from a big and reputed college in Guntur by name ‘The Hindu College’. This college had a long tradition; it was started in 1885! I applied for the post.

They asked me a few questions and I could answer all of them satisfactorily. Though I performed very well, getting selected was not going to be easy. There were three teachers who had retired from the college at that moment which had created three vacancies. But they had one son each, and all three of them had done M. Sc. in Chemistry! Each one of them had applied for the job; hence I was the fourth candidate. Somehow, by God’s grace, one person among them was overlooked and I was given the job!

I worked there for four years and returned to Swami in 1979. At that time, they were looking for a teacher who could work for the junior college in Puttaparthi. They wanted someone who could teach in Telugu too. I was told later that Swami showed my application to Dr. Bhagavantham and said, “Why don’t you call this boy?”

That is how I was called to Puttaparthi. I came and when I sat in Darshan line, Swami came straight to me and said, “Aaa…Emappa? Class theesuko, choosthaam.” (How are you? Take the demo class, I will see.)

I finished my lecture, came out of the class and was standing on the steps. Swami suddenly came there and said, “Aa vaachaavaa? Namaskaram theesuko! Baga chesuko!” (Oh, you are here! Take Namaskaram. Perform well.)

With that, I knew I was in. That was the initiation; that was how I came here and joined the Junior college.

In July 2008, H2H met this 59 year old principal, who never reduced the number of his lectures, in spite of umpteen administrative responsibilities as a principal. “I am a teacher first, and only then a principal,” he said. “I never dreamt that I would become the principal of this school. And tomorrow, if Swami gives me some other assignment, I’ll do it gladly. This life is for Him. For what He has done for me, I cannot ever repay Him for any number of lives to come.”

THE DIVINE STORY OF SHIRDI SAI PARTHI SAI - Part 24

...
Sathya is admitted to the Bukkapatnam High School. Every day He has to walk several kilometres to reach the School. He goes there in the company of some friends. While many like Raju, some are jealous of Him. One day, they decide to tease and humiliate Him, while He is on His way to School. They lie in wait for Him near the river. Soon, Sathya comes that way along with His friends. They are all singing Bhajans.

BOY 1: We will sit here on this boulder till He comes.

BOY 2: This is Raju’s route, is it not? We will sit here.

BOY 3: Yes, today we will take care of Him! Hey look! He is coming!

BOY 4: Look at our dress; it is dirty. But His dress, it is shining!

BOY 5: Look at Raju’s dress; it is not crumpled.

BOY 6: We will make His dress dirty and look like ours!

BOY 7: Come!

BOY 8: [to Sathya] Hey You! Stop singing!

BOY 9: Come!

Boys throw mud at Sathya and laugh.

Shirdi Sai Parthi Sai was a tele serial originally made in Telugu, which was later translated into many languages. This effort was a devotional offering of legendary Indian actress, Anjali Devi. Swami blessed the commencement of this project in Guru Poornima of 1998 and released it exactly a year later. The speciality of the serial is the narration of the birth and childhood of Shirdi Baba, a revelation that Swami made in the late 80s.

"Thursday Divine Darshan"
Short darshan Video Clip every Thursday

Darshan - 15

When the compassionate Lord chose to move amidst us... even as He glided past us and before us, He silently slipped into our hearts too! The eyes that were intoxicated with the beauty of His Darshan and never satiated, unknowingly then, turned within in search of that divine glimpse. Isn't that how He purified us, isn't that how He made us seekers? That was the magic of our Sai's Darshan!

Looking at Swami we wondered, was He more gracious or more graceful... nay He is verily grace itself - when He walks, when He talks, when He scolds, or when he gathers His robe's folds, when he smiles and beckons or in disappointment frowns... Seeing His grace our hearts gaped, 'How could one be so very graceful?' He could be, because He was as gracious as He was graceful, and to shower His grace was the very purpose of His presence. Darshan was that special moment when He allowed us to witness His gracefulness and graciousness.

THE DIVINE STORY OF SHIRDI SAI PARTHI SAI - Part 23

http://media.radiosai.org/journals/Vol_04/01NOV06/ssps.htm

The scene is the Puttaparthi Elementary School , and the bell goes to indicate that the classes are over. Boys come running out, eager to get back home. Venkama Raju comes there to meet Sathya’s teacher.

TEACHER: [to the boys who are rushing] Slow, slow!

VENKAMA RAJU: Hello Teacher Sir, how are you?

TEACHER: Thank you Mr. Venkama Raju, I am fine.

VENKAMA RAJU: How is my Sathya studying?

TEACHER: If at all there is anyone who is really studying well, it is your Sathyam.

VENKAMA RAJU: Really?

TEACHER: Yes, and this is the truth. You may not believe it but Sathya does not need to be told twice; He grasps everything first time, right away. The fact is, we are learning a lot from Him! He is far above the Elementary School level…How do I say it? He has to be educated somewhere way up there! [holds his hand high] I can’t say anything more!!

Amazing - Walk of hope- Meeting Sri M

Om Sri Sairam

Marias, my

favorite pet dog

stopped wagging its tail for a while..

A signal for wisecracks to follow..

For it thinks through its tail..

Used to its tailspins and the aftermath,

I paid attention...

"Will you stop browsing this N

ewYorkTimes

for latest on ISIS....?" Marias went ballistic.

"Marias. You have no clue how scary the details are.."

I meekly defended,hiding the
eyeballs' urge for sensational News all the time..

"Forget it. There is a counter balance
building up in this part of the world ,,
right here..and you have no clue.."

" Marias. Are you kidding....
ISIS is a serious threat they say..
"

"No. I am serious. You guys are only
after bad news all the time.
Why is your Media silent on the

amazing "Walk of Hope" being organised
by the famous 'Sri M' who is Mumtaz Ali Khan

lecturing on Upanishads, promoting Religious harmony.
His "Walk of Hope" beginning on 12 Jan 2015
from Kanyakumari to Kashmir covering about 6500 Kms

is not known to many. Hardly any coverage.

Your PM met him. Many VIPs supporting.

You browsing freaks should go and browse walkofhope.in."--

Marias rapidfired and ran away
for a barking session outside

with its streetmates in full strength to
protest the entry of a
new dog from neighbourhood.

Sri M with the PM..

Marias had a point.

Why blame

the Media alone.

Why not chase good news instead ,

however hard to access..

A bit of

'deep sea ' Googling

threw up amazing facts on this "Sri M".

The Hindu dt July 11.2014
carried a story on him

quoting his own words-
“I am born Muslim, but I practice Sanatana Dharma,”

/cultural-confluence-has-the-answer/article6198228.ece)

But the media just stopped with a mention
on his 'Walk of Hope' in Jan 2015,

while there is much more to it
than what meets the eye.

Who is this 'Sri M'.
'Born Muslim,practicing Sanatana Dharma..'
It dragged us in.

Led us to his autobiography-

"Apprenticed to a Himalayan Master -

A Yogi's Autobiography - Sri M"

(You can flipkart to be door delivered)

M any startling facts emerged...

Could get the sense..No fiction...
Sounds Pure authentic stuff

pouring out straight from his heart.

Every seeker in Spiritual world

has to read it once at least.

(For more inputs mail back)

Now we have two choices.

Challenge everything seeking irrefutable evidence

and end up discarding almost everything for want of proof..

Or go by the gut feeling of what to believe and what not

running some invisible filters deep down ,

driven by instincts..

Sri M's narratives in the book pass the'filters'

and sound as genuine 'authentic' experience ..
And such

instinctive experience while reading
is not transferable by email.
Hence one has to read the book and experience..

We felt that 'Sri M' must be from a

great Spiritual Reservoir worth researching more..

Particularly of interest is the fact mentioned in the book
that he was blessed to have the darshan
of Mahavatar Babaji, who needs no introduction..

Paramahansa Yogananda has written in
Autobiography of a Yogi
that the deathless avatar
(Mahavatar Babaji)has resided for untold years in the remote
Himalayan regions of India, revealing himself
only rarely to a blessed few.

Shortly before Paramahansa Yogananda
left for America in 1920, Mahavatar Babaji was reported
to have came to Yoganandaji’s home in Calcutta,
where the young monk sat deeply praying for divine assurance regarding the mission he was about to undertake.
Babaji said to him: “Follow the behest of your guru and go to America. Fear not; you shall be protected. You are the one I have chosen to spread the message of Kriya Yoga in the West.”

Mahavatar Babaji

was also reported to have
visited Nara Narayan Gufa where those
chosen by our Swami did Meditation recently..

Flipped open the smartphone browser
and typed sssbpt.info and up came
the window of all texts of "Sathya Sai Speaks"

On random search the following came up..

"The welfare of the world will be ensured through
the fostering of the Godly everywhere, and

more particularly of these reservoirs
of the ancient wisdom of this land."

- Sri Sathya Sai Baba
(Dashara Discourses, November 1963 SSSpeaks Vol 3)

Now dive deeper..Who is this 'Sri M'.

Curiosity kills.

Many Sai devotees had the experience
of seeing some Reborn identified now.
Like Re-born Swami Vivekananda

now Navin, born in Sri Lanka and is now

supposed tobe in Europe

as per our info

..
When he visited Parthi,

he was supposed
to have been identified by Swami Himself

as Reborn of Swami Vivekananda..

( As Nature in all its wisdom has kept the secrets
of each one's previous birth as hidden files
in our 'Chitta ' hard disk, we honour that
and don't probe further..

Moreover, as this life itself is so complicated
why open the hidden files of previous births
and add to the confusion..)

Sri M seems tobe another such story
of a Reborn Hindu Monk...
in a Muslim family in Kerala

due to the Karmic consequence of what
he did to a disciple of a Sufi saint

in his previous birth when the great
Mahavatar Babaji, his Guru in that birth
appeared before him and explained how
he will be reborn as a consequence..

When he pleaded that he should get
Mahavatar Babaji only as his Guru
in that birth also, he was told
that another disciple of him

would be his Guru that time (which is now).

Exactly as predicted, our Sri M was born
in Kerala on 6th Nov 1948

in a Muslim family
and Sri Maheswarnath an ardent

devotee of Mahavatar Babaji appeared at
the appropriate time and took him as his disciple.

(Shri Maheshwarnath left his body in 1985)

His detailed account of his Himalayan Journey

is very absorbing and

some episodes mindblowing..

All the above facts add weight to the

personality that Sri M is ...
We contacted his secretary for a
meeting with him urgently.

We were told about the

'Walk of hope '
and we readily signed up..

Now our team will join Sri M

at Kanyakumari on 12 Jan 2015

and walk with him for a day atleast
and return back to our worklife in this city..

(the weekend warriors that we are)

Those interested in joining can

mail back with details.

With forces like ISIS consolidating

it is imperative that Communal harmony

appears on the top of our Agenda.

Everyone has to do his bit.

The initiatives have to be from all levels.

Our daily breakfast service to

the Dialysis patients in Masjid
Muslim Ambulance society hospital

endeared us to many Muslim families

who greet us with Namaste while we learnt to

salute them with "Salam ale kum"..

Every chant of 'Sairam'

releases deep down

in us,

packets of energy

that is Religion neutral but spiritual positive..

In that intense energy field
every element can only

Love All. Serve All.

When Marias returned after its 'mission ' accomplished,

it found a new look in its Masters face..

"Oh, you read about Sri M it seems...

Lets get ready for the great Walk of Hope in Jan'15."

Wagging its tail it vanished..

We thanked Marias for the tips

and gratefully, spelt its name in reverse...

What is the means to obtain bliss and ever revel in it? Bhagawan lovingly explains to us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Tuesday, October 14, 2014

Fix your faith firmly in the Lord and not on the things of the world. When you have strong faith in the Lord, your discrimination will be perfect. You will be guided by your Conscience, which will always lead you properly. In vedantic parlance, the Conscience is called ‘Chit’. God is ‘Sat-Chit-Ananda’. Sat means Being, Chit means Awareness. When and where these two are combined, there is Bliss. This is the meaning of the divine name, BABA - Being + Awareness Bliss +Atma. All of you are aspirants of bliss. You must enjoy uninterrupted bliss. To attain that Ananda (Bliss), you must combine Sat (Being) and Chit (Awareness). Without Divinity, there is no bliss or joy. Hence always think of Him, Live in His presence.

- My Dear Students, Vol 2, Ch 17, “Lessons from the Immortal Indian Epics”.

Simple faith in the words of the wise is more profitable than years of study and discussion. - BABA.

Puttaparthi Elementary School again. On this day, the boys are bringing vegetables as gifts for the teacher.

SATHYA: Why have you brought all this?

BOY: To give to the teacher.

SATHYA: To the teacher? But I have not brought anything!

BOY: If we give all this, the teacher will not beat us.

BOY 2: Otherwise, he will accuse us of coming late and punish us.

SATHYA: But you have not come late!

BOY: May be. But did not the master say that we must be here at least fifteen minutes before the bell rings? Did he not warn that if we failed to do so he would beat us?

SATHYA: Are you saying that if you gave him all these vegetables he would not beat you?

CHORUS: Yes!

What is the relationship between the Creator, His creation and the five elements? Bhagawan crisply explains to us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Monday, October 13, 2014

The base for making a pot is clay. For making a pot, the potter is the cause and the pot is the effect. The pot may break, but the clay remains as it is. Out of a permanent substance, clay, the potter makes a pot. The fate of the pot does not affect the potter. The clay in the pot too has no impact on the potter. Extending the analogy, God is the changeless Creator, who creates innumerable objects in creation, which are subject to change in name and form. A pot cannot be made without the potter and the clay; both are necessary. Similarly the Creator is the instrumental cause of creation (Nimitta Karana). The human body may perish, like the pots, but the Creator and the Elements used for creation are imperishable. The human beings, during their lifetime, have a choice - to put their body to good use or bad use.

- My Dear Students, Vol 3, Ch 16, “Sri Adi Shankaracharya: His Life”.

We are powerless before Time but Time’s Creator and Director can be won and attained by the wise use of Time. - BABA.

Echocardiography Conference Concluding Day

The two- day conference on “Advanced Echocardiography” concluded on Sunday at the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences (SSSIHMS), Prasanthigram. The conference was organized by SSSIHMS, Prasanthigram and SSSIHMS, Whitefield in collaboration with GE Healthcare, the health care arm of GE.

The sessions on the second day included “rare cases presentations” , “hands on training on ‘must know’ cardiac pathology and “principles of 3D echo imaging” among others.

The faculty members and delegates alike were greatly impressed by the way the conference was conducted and the service being done by the SSSIHMS, Prasanthigram to the humanity.

"Sai Hospital Maintenance is a miracle"
Faculty member Prof. Vijayraghavan, a Padmashree awardee, and vice-chairman and founder Director of Kerala Institute of Medical Sciences, Trivandrum, Kerala, said that the conference on ‘Advanced Echocardiography” stood up to its name. “The conference was of a high quality”, he said. Talking about the SSSIHMS, Prasanthigram, he mentioned that the hospital was a miracle. “I have referred many patients to this hospital and they have high regard and gratitude for what this hospital has done for them. Not only the creation of this hospital, but also maintenance of the hospital is a miracle,” he added. Another faculty member, Dr. Alagesan, former president of the Indian Academy of Echocardiography said that the conference was focused and the hands-on aspect of training, which helped the delegates to learn the modalities of Echocardiography well. Asked about the hospital, he mentioned that the hospital of one of its kind. “Providing free treatment to all is a extremely difficult endeavor and this is one hospital which is able to do it,” he said. What also impressed Dr. Alagesan was the maintenance of the hospital. “Everyday so many patients come here still it is so clean and well maintained. I have been to the wards, they are so open and spacious .”

Here you are learning theory and practical demonstration follows so you absorb better” he said. Asked about the hospital, Dr. Kumar said everywhere in the world you have hospitals where you have to deposit money first and then enter the hospital for treatment, but this hospital is totally unique, which provides treatment totally free of charge.”

Another delegate Dr. Minati Kale from Coimbatore mentioned that it was her wish to visit Puttaparthi for a long time and this conference gave her an opportunity to do so. “ It was great to have the conference in such a holy environment, “ she said.

Elementary school in Puttaparthi. Boys are lined up in front of the school building. The school master is inspecting the line. He is hoping the boys have brought some gifts for him, but no student has. He is irritated and annoyed.

TEACHER: Slate and pencil, slate and pencil, slate and pencil! All of you have brought only a slate and pencil. Do you think you will receive education if you come to school with just a slate and a pencil? How about bringing some vegetables like brinjals, drumsticks, etc., as fees for me? Don’t you fellows want to pass and later enter High School?

BOYS: Yes Sir, we do!

TEACHER: Now listen! If you come to school tomorrow with just slate and pencil and no vegetables, I will beat you. By the way, did I not ask you to report well before the bell rings?

BOYS: Yes Sir, you told us so.

TEACHER: Then why did you not? You don’t care; you don’t bother; you don’t listen to your teacher! You have no respect for my words!!

BOY: No sir, it’s not that. My mother is very sick, and that’s why I was delayed.

BOY 2: Sir, my house is very far and I am late because I had to walk all that distance.

BOY 3: Actually sir, we have come fifteen minutes earlier!

TEACHER: Are you questioning me? Are you saying, “We are on time and so why are you punishing us?”

Why is love the most potent tool and easiest means to understand Divinity? Bhagawan elucidates today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Sunday, October 12, 2014

Srishti, Stithi and Laya (creation, sustenance and dissolution) are the three forms of the Divine Will; you have to penetrate the inner meaning of Srishti, by means of Karma Yoga; you have to grasp the significance of Stithi, by means of Bhakthi Yoga and when you master the Jnana Yoga, you arrive at the experience of Laya, of manifoldness in the One. Bhakthi (devotion) makes you aware of the Lord who sustains and supports every being; it is love, which is eternal, true and blemishless. There is no one who is devoid of bhakthi; deep down in the core, everyone has the feeling of kinship with all creatures. It is this that makes a lonely person miserable, that makes everyone likeable to someone or other. If you have no love; you are like a lamp without the flame, blind and blinding. Love of the pure type is unmixed with hate, untampered with greed.

- Divine Discourse, Oct 12, 1964.

Fill your heart with the light of Love so that the evil qualities of hate, greed and conceit find no place therein.-BABA

THE DIVINE STORY OF SHIRDI SAI PARTHI SAI - Part 20

...
Sathya’s education commences in the traditional manner with a formal religious initiation ceremony performed at home, with Kondama presiding. Sathya who is not supposed to know anything yet, surprises the priest. He is given a slate and the priest tries to get the young student to write a salutation to God.

PRIEST: I shall show You how to write. We shall begin with the salutation: Om Namaha!

SATHYA (writes): Om Namaha, Sivahaya, Siddam Namaha.

PRIEST: [To Kondama Raju] The formal initiation into learning is over. You can now admit Him to School and let Him study there. Sathya is very intelligent.

KONDAMA RAJU: My grandson will not only write on the slate but, when He grows up, will rewrite the lives of people by lighting the lamp of Wisdom in their hearts. Is that not true Sathyam?

Shirdi Sai Parthi Sai was a tele serial originally made in Telugu, which was later translated into many languages. This effort was a devotional offering of legendary Indian actress, Anjali Devi. Swami blessed the commencement of this project in Guru Poornima of 1998 and released it exactly a year later. The speciality of the serial is the narration of the birth and childhood of Shirdi Baba, a revelation that Swami made in the late 80s.

Sairam,

How do we constantly remind ourselves of the unity in the multiplicity we constantly perceive? Bhagawan lovingly explains us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Saturday, October 11, 2014

Clay is one substance, but from it, several products of different shapes and names can be made. The same white milk is obtained from cows of different colours living in different countries. Similarly God is One, but dwells in innumerable bodies with different names and forms. Take the example of gold. From the same metal, a variety of different types of ornaments can be made. If you examine the cosmic scene, you will find that out of the same basic substance a variety of objects with different forms are produced. Out of a single seed comes a tree with different branches, leaves, flowers and fruits. Branches, leaves, flowers and fruits are unique and distinct, vary in form, name and use; but all of them have come from the one same seed, their source. This is the meaning of the Sanskrit term, “Ekoham Bahushyam” implying “The One, who chose to become Many.”

Easwaramma is in the backyard of her house, watering the sacred Tulsi plant and offering worship. Suddenly, a blue ball of light appears in the sky. It moves toward her and enters her! She feels strange. She cannot understand her extraordinary experience. She enters the house. As she does so, her father-in-law, Kondama Raju, is worshipping Lord Shiva.

EASWARAMMA: Father-in-law!

KONDAMMA RAJU: What happened?

EASWARAMMA: I had…….. I had a strange experience. ……. When I was watering the Tulsi plant, blue radiance emerged in the sky, formed itself into a glow of light, which then entered me. I felt a strange sensation, as if some extraordinary power had entered me….. some strange power…….some strange power.

“Very soon, my dear fellow. Lord Narayana is going to take birth in OUR Ratnakara family! You will certainly have His Darshan. He will shower His Love on you. He will show the proper way to the world. He will wipe out the troubles of the good and re-establish Dharma. He will, and this is the Truth!”

What can we learn from the choice Arjuna made in his life? Is there a choice before us too? Bhagawan explains to us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Friday, October 10, 2014

Prema (Love) is the seed, thanmayathwam or overpowering experience of merging, is the tree and inexhaustible bliss is the fruit. For this consummation, faith is essential. Look at Arjuna! When the choice was placed before him to decide which he should receive, the army of redoubtable heroes belonging to the Yadava clan or Krishna alone who is unarmed and refusing to fight, he asked only for Krishna! He knew; he believed; and he was saved. The same choice all have to make even now, when the Lord has appeared in His swaruupa (form) here. What does it profit if one accumulates money, gold and grain? The bliss, derived from the worship of the name and form which arouses spiritual joy, is far more desirable than these. Want of faith is the source of weakness in all fields.

The scriptures declare Paropakara (rendering help to others) accrues merit. But what is true Paropakara? Bhagawan lovingly explains to us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Thursday, October 9, 2014

A person with gratitud...e is meritorious and an ungrateful person is a sinner. Throughout your life, never forget even a small help that someone has rendered to you. Remember that you are who you are because someone helped you in the past. The word Paropakara (helping others) is a combination of three terms – Para + Upa + Kara. Para = Atma; Upa = Near and Kara = action. The objective of your meritorious deeds must be to progress nearer to God. The same Divine (Atma) is present in you and everyone. Do not perform noble deeds with the feeling that you are doing charity. Real Paropakara is to act with faith and do meritorious acts to serve the Divine in others, without entertaining feelings of division and difference. Understand clearly that physically harming or injuring others is not the only sin, but seeing others as different from the Divine within you is also sin. You may be different individuals in bodies, but the Lord within is One.

Why should greed in any form be uprooted right away? Bhagawan lovingly explains to us today with a lesson from the epic Mahabharatha.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Wednesday, October 8, 2014

Duryodhana symbolises one who has wicked thoughts. His minister was Dushasana. Dushasana represents one who promulgates bad laws. The combination of these two led to the growth of greed. On account of unrestricted growth of greed (lobha), Kauravas were totally destroyed. On another occasion Lord Krishna said, Arjuna means a person whose heart is pure and immaculate. Lord Krishna clarified to Arjuna in the battlefield, “Destiny is all powerful. Justice always wins. Selfishness will end in ruin. This is the law of the Universe (Yuga Dharma). He further explained to Arjuna that greed of Kauravas will cause them ruin.” Kauravas were not prepared to give their rightful share to the Pandavas. They wanted to keep everything to themselves, including what belongs to others. This selfishness is called greed.

...
The scene is the house of Subbamma, where Sathya Narayana Puja or the ritual worship of Lord Sathya Narayana is in progress.

PRIEST 1: Lady, please offer your reverential salutations to the Lord, saying: ‘O God, I worship You with pure devotion in order to seek Your Grace.’

PRIEST 2: In this Kali Age, worship of Lord Sathya Narayana confers the greatest strength. People refer to Him by various names such as Sathyeswara, Sathya Naryana, Sathya Deva and Sarweshwara. The worship of Sathya Narayana has now been completed. All may now offer salutations to the Lord.

On conclusion of the Puja, the guests prepare to leave. At this time, the women who have come make their offerings to the deity that is worshipped. In return, the hostess gives them Prasaadam.

LADY: Madam, please accept this floral offering. Since the Puja is over, we would like to leave.

SUBBAMMA: Please receive Prasaadam before you go.

LADY: We now take your leave.

SUBBAMMA: Thank you.

What is the best routine to maintain our physical and mental fitness? Bhagawan, our ‘Fitness Expert’ lovingly explains to us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Tuesday, October 7, 2014

Just as every day you engage in exercise and consume tonics, calculating the intake of calories and vitamins, and paying meticulous attention to the nutritional value of the food, pay attention also to the intake of impressions into the mind - whether they debilitate or strengthen, whether they add to the power of resistance of the mind against the viruses of greed, envy, hatred, pride, malice, etc. Have a meal of good acts of service, divine thoughts, and drink the premarasa (juice of Love), so that they may be washed down, and digested well. Then you can be shining in mental health, happiness and wholesomeness.

What is the minimum prescribed qualification to receive the Grace of the Divine? Do we have enough of Vitamin G in our diet? Bhagawan lovingly encourages us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Monday, October 6, 2014

Just as you prescribe minimum qualifications for any profession, the minimum qualification for grace is surrender of egoism, control over senses, and regulated food and recreation (ahaara and vihaara). You are made or marred by the company you keep. A bad person who falls into good company is able to shed his evil quickly and shine forth in virtue. A good person falling into evil company is overcome by the subtle influence and quickly slides down into evil. Reading that Krishna advises in the Gita the giving up of all individual responsibilities (Dharmas), an enthusiastic devotee gave up all obligations and limits; but he had to be told that one obligation still remained if the grace of God had to be secured: maam ekam sharanam vraja - "Surrender to Me only". When that surrender is complete and all acts, words and thoughts are dedicated to Him, along with all their consequences, then the Lord has promised that He will free you from sin and sorrow.

- Divine Discourse, Sep 27, 1965.

Adhere to right conduct and observe purity in thought, word and deed. You will secure the grace of God. - BABA

Why is it that some people are more mature in their understanding while others are narrow minded? Bhagawan lovingly explains us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Sunday, October 5, 2014

All are God's children. Hence all... of you should live as embodiments of Love and like brothers and sisters, loving and serving. People keep a distance as long as they do not understand the power of love. Once they understand and experience love, they will become one. You will be able to realise this truth sooner or later. When a plant bears flowers, not all the flowers blossom at the same time. Some are in the process of blossoming, some are fully blossomed, yet others will be only in the bud stage. Only the fully bloomed flower spreads its fragrance. Similarly people will also be in different stages of evolution - some are like the bud; some are at a blossoming stage; and some others are like the fully bloomed flower, spreading their fragrance. Wait patiently till the stage of fragrance arrives.

"Archanam" - inner significance of the "path of worship" in the 9-fold paths of devotion

By aravindb1982

This talk was delivered on the occasion of Dusshera (29th September, 2014) in the Satsangh Hall at Prasanthi Nilayam.

Radio Sai ~ God's own Radio Station

With the Divine Blessings of Bhagwan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, Radio Sai went on air for the first time on November 23, 2001. It was inaugurated by Bhagawan Baba as a channel of the World Space Satellite Radio service. Radio Sai has over the years ...grown into an Internet Radio streaming service offering six different, 24/7 streams - Asia, Afri, Ameri, Telugu, Discourse and Bhajan Stream.

Asia, Afri, Ameri streams offer programmes specific to the time zones of the three continents (Asia, Africa and America respectively). The Bhajan Stream plays bhajans 24 hours a day, while the Discourse Stream is a 24 hour channel that offers the many discourses delivered by Baba over the years.

The newest channel added to the service in June 2011 is the Telugu Stream which offers programmes in Telugu, which is the native language of the Indian State of Andhra Pradesh, where Bhagawan Baba made His advent. It is also the language in which Baba delivered almost all His talks.

Radio Sai’s e-Journal and other services

Apart from the above mentioned internet radio streams, Radio Sai offers through the website radiosai.org, Radio Sai’s official e-journal “Heart2Heart”. This journal started as a fortnightly publication and later was expanded and made into a monthly magazine. However from 2009, it was converted into a dynamic e-journal updated at least 3-4 times a week.

Now, on radiosai.org you will find insightful articles, inspiring stories, interviews with devotees, photo galleries, quizzes and the various videos produced by Radio Sai. THE DIVINE STORY OF SHIRDI SAI PARTHI SAI - Part 14

http://media.radiosai.org/journals/Vol_04/01FEB06/ssps.htm
...
Kondama Raju comes with food to meet his Guru Venkavadhoota.

K. RAJU: Salutations sir!

GURU: Come Raju, come! Sit down. ….. This is all God’s will! Perhaps only now you could find the time to come to your Guru Venkavadhoota.

K. RAJU: After one long year, I now have the good fortune to be able to see you!

GURU: For Venkavadhoota, the whole world is his home! Like the wind I move here and there, and my feet never stay put in one place. One moment here, next moment there!

K. RAJU: Swami! Of late I am feeling very much agitated, and I am always thinking of you. The age of Kali has become the age of famine! The mind of man has become polluted. Wherever you turn, you see only lawlessness, wickedness, and injustice.

What is the hallmark of real devotees? What is the source of all human values and what is the culmination? Bhagawan explains to us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Saturday, October 4, 2014

Those who struggle to uphold ...Truth are the real devotees. The essence of all scriptures (Vedas) lies in establishing this truth. Unfortunately, today people who recognize such an eternal truth are not to be found anywhere. You must never forsake Truth. When truth (Sathya) and righteousness (dharma) come together, there will be peace (Shanthi) and Love (Prema). In fact, Truth (Sathya) is the basis for all other human values, namely, Righteousness, Peace, Love, and Non-Violence (Dharma, Shanthi, Prema, and Ahimsa). Love (Prema) does not descend from outside. It emerges only from within, from the hearts of people. No human being can live without love. True and real life is one that is suffused with love. All virtues merge in love. Where there is love, there will be unity that permeates all barriers. Where there is love, people regardless of caste, culture, and country will unite naturally.

- Divine Discourse, 6 Mar 2008.

Your heart is like a vessel. Fill it with qualities of Truth, Love and Sacrifice. -BABA.

THE DIVINE STORY OF SHIRDI SAI PARTHI SAI - Part 13

http://media.radiosai.org/journals/Vol_04/01JAN06/ssps.htm

In our last issue the epic story of the life of Shirdi Baba came to an end with the shedding of His mortal ...coil to the sorrow and consternation of His devotees. Yet He had promised to incarnate again and this happened eight years later, exactly as He had told His devotees. Earlier, it was in the village of Pathri. This time, it was in the village of Parthi, or Puttaparthi, to give the full name.

Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba took birth on 23rd November, 1926 in the Ratnakara family. This family was highly respected in the village for its devotion to the Lord, and for its staunch adherence to righteousness. Baba’s parents this time were Pedda Venkama Raju [father] and Easwaramma [mother]. Pedda Venkama Raju was the eldest son of Kondama Raju, a highly esteemed village elder. At birth, Baba was named Satyanarayana Raju. Prior to Him were born, Seshama Raju [elder brother], Venkamma [elder sister], and Parvathamma [another elder sister]. Sathyanaranyana Raju was called Sathyam at home and Raju by His friends, till He declared His Avatarhood on 20th October, 1940. After that He came to be known to the world as Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba and also Swami.

What is presented in the following issues of Heart2Heart covers Swami's early years, starting with the Holy birth in the Ratnakara family. Right from the beginning, there were ample signs of His Divinity. However, not all noticed this. As a result, young Sathyanarayana Raju was often subjected to much teasing and at times harsh treatment. At the same time, drawn inexplicably by His Divine attractive power, there were many that showered love on Him and were deeply loyal to Him. All this was of course a part of His Divine Drama.

The appearance of God on Earth in human form is no ordinary event. Whereas we cannot choose our parents, God can. He decides when and where He would be born and takes birth only in a deserving family.

The Raju family was rather poor, yet the members of the family commanded much respect in the village. Kondama Raju had a Guru named Venkavadhoota. Sometime before Swami's birth Venkavadhoota had told Kondama that one day, as reward for the devotion of the family, the Lord Himself would take birth there.

It always happens that prior to the advent of the Lord, there is some turmoil. It was so in Puttaparthi before Swami took birth. There was tyranny from the administrators and also the rich landlords…

THE DIVINE STORY OF SHIRDI SAI PARTHI SAI - Part 12

http://media.radiosai.org/journals/Vol_03/12DEC01/ssps.htm
...
BABA: Shyama, life and death are not in our hands. When the work for which we have come here is over, we necessarily have to return! When we inhale air, does the air remain for ever inside? No, it goes out after some time. Similarly, when we eat food, does the food remain inside? No, it does not. ……mmmmm…

The whole of Creation depends on breath, that’s all!…… Life and death are related to inhalation and exhalation. Death pertains only to the body and not to the Atma. …. This being that you are seeing, will still be with you, even if you don’t see the body. My Atma will always be amidst you. I will be like a shadow and a support, and a guide to all of you. It means I am in you, with you and around you.

Why and how must we worship the Divine Mother? Bhagawan grants His Dasara benediction to us.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Friday, October 3, 2014

Goddess Durga confers abundant energy on the individual. Mother Lakshmi bestows various kinds of wealth like money, food, gold, and vehicles for movement, so you lead a happy life in this world. Mother Saraswathi blesses you with education and intellect. Hence everyone must worship the three Divine Mothers. In all this worship, practicing right conduct (dharma) is of utmost importance. You should also make proper use of your intellect and undertake only good, righteous and sacrificial actions at all times for the benefit of the society and sanctify your lives. People keep distance among one another due to differences of opinion. In fact, you are not different from others. Today they may appear to be different, but tomorrow they may come close to you. Hence all should live like brothers and sisters with love and unity. ‘All are one; be alike to everyone.’ This is my special message on this holy occasion of Navarathri.

- Divine Discourse, 9 Oct 2008

Fill your heart with the light of Love so that the evil qualities of hate, greed and conceit find no place therein. -BABA

Dasara Discourse by Sri Sathya Sai Baba at Prasanthi Nilayam - Day 07

Dasara in the Divine Presence has seen many hues over the years. From the palanquin procession and worship by sumangalis in the 1940's and 50's; Veda... Purusha Saptaha Jnana Yajna and Prasanthi Vidwan Mahasabha from the 1960's to the Grama Seva in the new millennium (the last three continuing till this day). But what has always been an exquisite treat for those that attend Dasara in Prasanthi, is the Divine message that Bhagawan gave on all the seven days when the Vidwan Maha Sabha was convened. The Rig Veda extols the Lord as Kavim Kavinaam - the Wisdom of the Wise. What greater way to celebrate a Dasara then than to receive benediction from the embodiment of Wisdom Himself.

To mark this year's Dasara, we wish to offer you a Discourse clip on every day starting from 27 Sept 2014, the day Prasanthi Vidwan Mahasabha 2014 commences till Vijayadashami, 03 Oct. These are from discourses delivered by Bhagawan during the Dasara of the year 2002. So watch the space below for the discourse clip of the day during this entire Dasara Celebrations.

Happy and a Holy Dasara to all,

"Thursday Divine Darshan"  - Short darshan Video Clip every Thursday  - Darshan - 13

What is the real significance in celebrating the festival of Dasara? Bhagawan lovingly explains to us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Thursday, October 2, 2014

People experience pleasure and pain, sorrow and difficulti...es in this world. When they experience pleasure, they say it is due to their deservedness (prapti). When they undergo difficulties, they attribute it to their destiny. Really speaking, both pleasure and pain are the result of one's own actions (karma). As are the feelings that drive action, so is the result (Yad bhavam tad bhavati). Every human being in this world has to perform some kind of karma. Hence let the actions (karma) performed by people be sacred. The celebration of Dasara is meant to purify the actions performed by the five senses of action and the five senses of perception (dasendriyas). Devi, who is the personification of energy, is the driving force behind all actions. Hence everyone must worship the Trinity of Durga (goddess of energy), Lakshmi (goddess of all kinds of wealth), and Saraswathi (goddess of education and intellect) during this festival of Dasara.

- Divine Discourse, 9 Oct,2008.

Pray to God and draw from Him the magnet of His grace and offer to the world the power of His electrical energy. -BABA.

Dasara Discourse by Sri Sathya Sai Baba at Prasanthi Nilayam - Day 06

http://youtu.be/cBrqfUbE5k8

Dasara in the Divine Presence has seen many hues over the years. From the palanquin procession and worship by sumangalis ...in the 1940's and 50's; Veda Purusha Saptaha Jnana Yajna and Prasanthi Vidwan Mahasabha from the 1960's to the Grama Seva in the new millennium (the last three continuing till this day).

Radio Sai Gandhi Jayanti Special Audio from Archive: AN ODE TO THE MAHATMA - RAGHUPATI RAGHAVA RAJA RAM

The grateful Indian nation has chosen to remember this day, 2nd October, in memory of not just this great soul, but of all those that ...were inspired by him and those that were fired up by the same patriotism, sacrifice and idealism. We celebrate this day with pride and gratitude as Gandhi Jayanti.

We at Radio Sai wish to pay our heartfelt tribute to the Mahatma on this day, through this audio presentation. The song Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram (sometimes called Ram Dhun) is a popular bhajan that was a favourite of Mahatma Gandhi. The version that is most common was put to music by Vishnu Digambar Paluskar, and was sung by Gandhi and his followers as they walked during the 241 mile Salt March to Dandi.

We hope you enjoy this offering, and all of you join us in hailing the Mahatma and His dedication towards our Mother Land!

Prasanthi Nilayam - The Abode of Highest Peace

Prasanthi Nilayam, literally “The Abode of Supreme Peace”, is the birthplace and the Headquarter of our dear Lord, Bhagawan Baba. For His devotees, it is what Rome is to the Catholics and Mecca to the Muslims. For others, who step into this township out of curiosity or general interest, it is a seat of inner growth and learning that visitors describe as awe-inspiring. Its draw lies in its power to nourish the soul and calm the mind.

This sacred township welcomes thousands of spiritual seekers from every faith, and all corners of the globe each day, as they arrive to behold the divine presence of Bhagawan Baba.

True to its name, anyone who steps in this holy precinct and breathes its air, vouches to experiencing the highest peace seep in their soul. It is just like heaven in this world. It has emerged today as the international spiritual capital of the world. This Mandir is filled with calmness, serenity and peace that take you away from the clutter of the modern day life. Decade back Bhagawan Baba used to spend most of His time in this Mandir and thus there is a steady flow of devotees from all over the country , which makes this peaceful abode a melting pot of various cultures. The full mandir is painted in blue, yellow and pink communicating the harmonious blend of spirit, intellect and heart.

Prasanthi Mandir and its Significance

Prasanthi Nilayam was inaugurated on 23 November 1950, the twenty-fifth birthday of Baba. It had a central prayer hall flanked by rooms on either side and corridors in front and behind. In addition, there was a small portico attached to the central portion of the corridor in the front. The height of the prayer hall was divided into two floors for the rooms and the corridors linking the rooms on either side.

The Prasanthi Mandir is a living testimony to the life and message of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. The Mandir speaks eloquently the divine message of the unity of life, universal concord, and harmony through its sculptured angels, humans, and animals, feasting our eyes on the various faces of this aesthetic wonder. The peacocks and snakes, the elephants and lions nestling close to each other on the facade of the mandir in quiet ecstasy speak a meaningful message to those who have eyes to see, ears to hear, and hearts to feel.

These sculptured beings on the facade beautifully bring out the drama of transformation and transcendence that can occur if one sincerely strives to sublimate oneself. The lions, elephants, snakes, and peacocks, contemptuously dismissed by us as sub-human species, have lifted themselves to a sublime stature by practising maitri (friendship), mudita (joy), karuna (compassion), and upeksha (detachment).

The majestic Mandir now stands facing north in a compound measuring 220' x 150' and its plinth area is a little more than 7500 square feet. It is a Nilayam (residence) evolved into a Mandir (temple). The Prasanthi Mandir is indeed the Living Temple for our Loving God.

“Here in the Prashanthi Nilayam, no invitation has ever been printed and distributed on any occasion, asking people to come. No one has been specially requested to take part. It is Love, the invitations of the Heart to the heart, that has brought you in tens of thousands to this place. The validity and value of Love are proved by you; Love is the most potent of My powers. - Baba, 22 November 1970.

“The time is coming fast when the whole world will gather here.” - Baba, 11 January 1968

Learn the bhajan ‘He Parthipurisha Prasanthivasa Sai Murari’ through which we could offer our humble praam at the lotus feet of the Lord of Prasanthi and the loving God of Parthipuri.

Listen and watch it here in this below link:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=24FU8vHOluM

Lyrics and meaning as follows:
Parthi Purisha Prashanthi Vasa Sai Murare
Sai Murari Sai Murari Sai Murari Sai Murari
Hey Rishikesha Hrudaya Nivasa Hrudaya Nivasa
Sai Murari Sai Murari Sai Murari Sai Murari

Chant the name of the Lord residing in Parthi, Lord Sai Murari.
Victory to the Lord of Rishikesha (place of pilgrimage) and
the Lord residing in our hearts, Lord Sai Narayana.

Feel free to download this “He Parthipurisha Prasanthivasa Sai Murari” wallpaper and set this as your desktop wallpaper or make it your facebook timeline cover photo.

The genesis and the growth of Prasanthi Mandir is as unique as the Avatar is. The Vanaras (monkeys) in the Tretha yuga had the singular good fortune of building for Sri Rama a bridge across the water. In this Kali age, the Naras (humans) enjoyed the unique good fortune of building a temple for their dearest Lord Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. The devotees carried brick, sand and stone and built this aesthetic wonder, for their own joy and for the pleasure of their own Loving Lord.

Thank you and loving Sai Ram,
Team Radio Sai

What is liberation? Bhagawan lovingly explains to us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Wednesday, October 1, 2014

Arjuna entered the battlefield, fully equipped and fanatically determined to destroy his enemies. But when... he took his position in the battlefield, he saw 'my teachers’, 'my grandfather’, 'my kinsmen’, 'my cousins', etc. and he was moved so much by this sense of ‘I’ and ‘mine’ that he discarded the bow and desired to return to the forest and beg for the rest of his life, than fight the war. The ‘I’ that has really nothing to do with earthly possessions, blinded him. Lord Krishna taught Bhagavad Gita and removed this delusion (moha). The lesson for you is “Be unmoved by duality”. Let not defeat or success affect your inner calm and inner joy. See yourself as your Self unrelated to others or the objective world. When you know your real Self, you are liberated! That is Moksha. Liberation (Moksha) is not a five-star hotel or a deluxe resort. It is just the awareness of your reality and the rejection of all contrary conceptions.

- Divine Discourse, Oct 6, 1970

When the mind and the intellect unite, humanness reaches a state of freedom, which is referred to as Moksha (liberation). -BABA

THE DIVINE STORY OF SHIRDI SAI PARTHI SAI - Part 10

http://media.radiosai.org/journals/Vol_03/10OCT01/ssps.htm

Years pass. Baba completed nine years of stay in Venkusa’s Ashram. One day, Venkusa summoned Baba. The Guru... knew that the time had come for him to give up his body. He instructed Baba to proceed to the river Godavari, adding that Baba’s future would be shaped there. Baba did as He was told.

One day, Baba was seated in a garden in the village of Dukheda in Aurangabad District. At that time, one Chand Patel of Yelaganga District came there in search of his horse that was missing. Patel saw Baba and asked Him about his horse. Baba told Patel where the horse could be found. Patel found the horse, exactly where Baba had predicted it would be, and from that moment became an ardent devotee of Baba.

In order to have the constant proximity of Baba, Patel invited Baba to his house. Baba went with Patel but did not stay with him. Instead, Baba kept moving around but from to time visited Patel.
Once, Patel went to Shirdi in connection with the marriage of his nephew. Along with his relatives, Patel also took Baba with him. Baba who went to Shirdi in this manner, later stayed there permanently.

It is no wonder therefore that today Bhajan singing has spiraled into a spellbinding global phenomenon uniting people, transforming hearts, purifying souls, sanctifying lives, and most important, conferring the highest experience of being one with the Divine.

As we await eagerly to celebrate that landmark day – Avatar Declaration Day on October 20, to make this occasion special, this year we request all bhajan enthusiasts and bhajan lovers to participate in a new endeavour and share with us the joy of singing and composing Sai bhajans.
