PARTHI NEWS - JANUARY 2014

SCHEDULE OF CHINESE NEW YEAR 2014:

Om Sairam dearest Sai Family

Even though the exact number of years may vary, the legend says Chinese New Year has been celebrated for about 4,700 years and this year it is the " Year of Horse". To celebrate the new year close to 400 devotees mostly Chinese are here in the abode of Highest Peace.

1ST OM MANI PADME HUM RETREAT FOR WORLD PEACE IN PRASHANTHI NILAYAM:

"Om Mani Padme Hum" is the six-syllables Sanskrit mantra particularly associated with the four-armed Shadakshari form of Avalokiteshvara (Tibetan Chenrezig), the bodhisattva of compassion. Mani means "jewel" or "bead" and Padma means "the lotus flower", the Buddhist Sacred Flower). For more details of this mantra please click this link

http://fpmt.org/education/teachings/lama-zopa-rinpoche/the-benefits-of-chanting-om-mani-padme-hum/

This is a very unique programme where devotees are holding a mass recitation of this powerful Mantra in Prashanthi Nilayam, where the intention is to send very strong and positive vibrations from Prashanthi Nilayam, the "Power House of the world" to the whole world so that peace and tranquility prevails . Please pass this news to all your friends who are staying in Puttaparthi, so that they spend some time chanting this mantra and this programme will be held in the North Shed in between N4 & N5 from 9:30am to 7:30 PM. (You can join and leave at your convenience)

CANE REJUVENATION EXERCISE:

One more additional feature of this year's Chinese New Year celebrations in Puttaparthi is the introduction of " Cane Rejuvenation Exercise" . It is a traditional Chinese wellness and holistic health therapy discovered by Dr.Chang Cho from Taiwan. This exercise helps in improving blood circulation, cure migraines and heal many types of body ailments. This will be held on February 4th,5th and 6th from 6:30 am to 7 am. All you have to do is meet brother Billy Fong in N7 A24

'Sathya Sai with Students' Blog Update: Week 72 - Mahatma Gandhi Special

Sai Ram,

Last Sunday, on the occasion of the 65th Republic Day of India, the 'SATHYA SAI WITH STUDENTS' Blog crossed the 'HALF A MILLION' visits mark. We thank all our readers and well-wishers for their continuous support and best wishes. We pray to Bhagavan to continue to shower His Divine Grace and Blessings on this humble endeavour of His Students.

As we celebrate the great sacrifices of our martyrs today, we present special articles on the theme of Mahatma Gandhi who left his mortal coil this day, and in whose memory Martyrs Day is commemorated on this day all over India.

1. DISCOURSES TO STUDENTS: Mahatma Gandhi was the greatest proponent of the value of Ahimsa - Non-violence. But what does Ahimsa truly mean? Swami tells us: "Ahimsa: the Primary Duty of Man"

http://sathyasaiwithstudents.blogspot.in/2014/01/ahimsa-primary-duty-of-man.html

2. EXPERIENCES OF STUDENTS: Sri M. Ranjith writes on the theme: "Sri Sathya Sai: The Heart of Sai Students".

http://sathyasaiwithstudents.blogspot.in/2014/01/sri-sathya-sai-heart-of-sai-students-by.html

3. CONVERSATIONS WITH STUDENTS: There are many unknown aspects to Swami's life. One such secret He revealed to students in a conversation on February 27, 2002 that He had met Mahatma Gandhi. Read on to know about those fascinating interactions between the Father of the Nation and the Master of Creation: "When Sri Sathya Sai met Mahatma Gandhi..."

http://sathyasaiwithstudents.blogspot.in/2014/01/when-sri-sathya-sai-met-mahatma-gandhi.html

4. MANAGEMENT LESSONS: Today, business and management have become quite technical, mechanical and to a large extent artificial devoid of human feelings and virtues. But, Swami always emphasised on the need for Management to have 'Man' i.e. human beings at its center and as its very core. This also forms the basis of Indian culture and civilisation, which gave extraordinary importance to human life and its dignity. This week, we present the second part of the multi-part series, wherein Swami gives 6 ways for developing 'Management with a Human Face: An Indian Perspective' - Part 2.

http://sathyasaiwithstudents.blogspot.in/2014/01/management-with-human-face-indian_30.html

5. THIS DAY THAT AGE: It was in this week in January 1992, that Swami blessed many devotees and dignitaries in Mumbai and even visited the Governor's Bungalow for a banquet in His honour. We reminisce those events: Sri Sathya Sai in Mumbai

http://sathyasaiwithstudents.blogspot.in/2014/01/sri-sathya-sai-in-mumbai-january-1992.html

6. SONG FOR THE SOUL: As Mahatma Gandhi was an epitome of the ideal of unity of religions, we present a song often sung by Swami's students in His Presence - 'Aye Mallik Tere Bande Ham...' Oh Lord! We are Your Devotees...

http://sathyasaiwithstudents.blogspot.in/2014/01/oh-lord-we-are-your-devotees-aye-maalik.html

FIRST INTERNATIONAL SAI VIBRIONICS CONFERENCE

Prasanthi Nilayam, 27th January 2014

The 1st International Sai Vibrionics conference was held at Puttaparthi, A.P. on 26-27 January 2014. Attending were 342 Sai Vibrionics practitioner from India and many countries around the world. Sai Vibrionics is a form of energy healing. Vibrionics practitioners shared their experiences with an international panel of presenters.

Sai Vibrionics system of healing believes that every organ in the body has an optimal vibrational frequency. Disease occurs when the frequency of vibrations shift. Health can be restored by adjusting the vibrational frequency back to normal. In Sai Vibrionics this is done by providing the patients with pills or a liquid in which the appropriate frequency has been embedded via a Potentizer machine.

The participants from several countries shared several instances of healing and cure even in cases considered extreme and critical.

For the past twenty years Dr. Jitendra and Hema Aggarwal, who live in Prasanthi Nilayam, have been refining the practice under the direct supervision of Sri Sathya Sai Baba. There are now over 4500 certified practitioners in over 80 countries. Nearly 2 million patients have been treated. Significant results have been achieved in several cases where other forms of medicine have failed to heal.

All practitioners provide free care as a form of service to humanity.

More information can be obtained from www.vibrionics.org.

SRI SATHYA SAI CENTRAL TRUST TO EXTEND THE GENERAL HOSPITAL JAN 26, 2014

JANUARY 26,2014

As India celebrated Her 65th Republic day, Puttaparthi was busy with so many activities right from the morning. Just after 8 am all the local schools, government offices, were busy hoisting the Indian national flags and at the same time the First International conference for all the Vibronics practitioners under the leadership of Dr.Agarwal started in Sri.Pedda Venkamaraju Kalyana Mandapam (old mandir) and all the Trustees present in Puttaparthi attended the conference.

Even though Vibronics has been less talked of among the locals and in the local media, a silent but yet powerful revolution is taking place in the field of alternate medicine which has been blessed by Swami on various occasions in the past. This type of approach in healing chronic patients will definitely challenge the latest developments in Allopathy medicine.

This conference brought in most of the vibro practitioners under one platform to discuss, share the miraculous healings that took place which also included infertility, cancer, cardiac cases, mental imbalances etc.

SATHYA SAI CENTRAL TRUST TO EXTEND THE GENERAL HOSPITAL

Around 9.40 am the platform was all set for the " Bhoomi Puja" (Ground breaking ceremony) of the new building of Swami's general hospital which was one of the first hospitals set up by Swami.

Every day, this hospital has patients close to 1000 which has become bit congested for the present building. So a new complex, with an estimated budget of around 5 crores, just infront of the present general hospital will be coming up.

All the staff of the hospital were seated as the students along with Brother Veda Narayana chanted vedam. After the initial puja Dr.Verma the superintendent of the General hospital thanked Swami for showering His blessings and he said this new building will cater the needs of all 9 departments and will also have a dedicated canteen for the hospital along with extra parking lot for the staff.

Dr.Verma opined that with the grace of Swami, they should be inaugurating this building by November 23rd this year which was received by huge round of applause from the audience present .

As symbol of the puja, Dr.Verma first dug the ground using a crow bar and later all the senior lady doctors, Sri.Kamalamma, Smt. Hema and others also offered prayers.

The trustees who were also present came one by one and broke coconuts after offering prayers to Swami's altar.

A BEAUTIFUL SEVA BY THE VIZAG YOUTH IN GAJUVAKA:

Some 20 hours train journey from Puttaparthi in a place called Gajuvaka, Andhra Pradesh some Sai Youths clad in white have been doing yeomen service to the mentally retarded and financially poor people in the streets.

These young men, wouldn't have got interviews or gifts from Swami, they never fought for first row in darshan or a position in the center, but they are showing the whole world what and who a " real Sai devotee" stands for.

Meeting, convincing and motivating the mentally retarded men who roam around in the roads (which is a common scene in India and i am sure you definitely have few in your locality) these boys give them hair cut, bath them and dress them up. Due to some unforeseen circumstances within the family, the fate some times brings these men to the streets who some times are mentally alert but financially poor and live on begging and some others loose mental control and eat what ever is found. Many a times we feel sorry for such people and feel helpless. When these Sai Youths approach them to help, there are many occasions where the men don't agree to their request, some run away and some even try to attack but ultimately its "Sai's Love" that wins and the Youths silently do their job thanking Swami for this opportunity. The following pictures says it all.. (Thanks to Sri.Dwaram Swami for sending the photos)

SRI SATHYA SAI ORGANISATION OF SOUTH AFRICA GETS A NEW PRESIDENT:

South Africa is one such country which is one of the most active countries in the Sai Movement. Any function, festival or occasion in Puttaparthi they come in large groups, even after Swami's Mahasamadhi which speaks high of their devotion.

After a very successful tenure as the President of Sathya Sai Organisation, Sister Savvy Ramlal handed over the commands to Sri. Dr.Teddy Maduray, a very successful pediatrician, a humble and sincere devotee of Bhagawan.

Sister Savvy has been very blessed to run one of the largest organisation outside India successfully and it was during her tenure that Swami blessed South Africa with the famous production titled " Ubuntu" in Sai Kulwanth hall. South Africa brought so much light and glitter to the Christmas decorations by providing the lights ever since 2010 when they were asked to decorate the ashram for the first time.

Every thing happens according to the Divine plan and may Swami bless Sri.Teddy Maduray and his new team with a grand success in all the activities which the Sathya Sai Organisation of South Africa will be taking up.

With Swami's grace and under the leadership of Dr.Maduray, May this country be a role model to the whole world and let every devotee be an ideal Sai devotee and make Swami proud of them.

With Pranams at the Lotus feet of our beloved Lord,

R.Satish Naik

'Sathya Sai with Students' Blog Update - Week 71: Indian Republic Day Special

Sai Ram,

As India celebrates its 65th Republic Day on January 26th, 2014, our articles focus on the theme of 'Our Motherland'.

1. DISCOURSES TO STUDENTS: There is one thing that Swami was never tired of sharing, and that is the Glory of Bharat. There have been innumerable occasions when He has extolled the grandeur and Divine History of this noble land. As we celebrate the day when modern India became a democratic republic, let us reminisce in His words, the 'Glory of Bharat' and what made it so glorious...

2. EXPERIENCES OF STUDENTS: Sri G.S. Srirangarajan writes on the theme: "Divine Love".

http://sathyasaiwithstudents.blogspot.in/2014/01/divine-love-by-g-s-srirangarajan.html

3. CONVERSATIONS WITH STUDENTS: It is often that we remember our Master; but our life gets sanctified when the Master remembers us... In one such conversation with staff and students of His Educational Institutions, on January 23, 2003, Swami remembered some of the great leaders of modern India...

4. MANAGEMENT LESSONS: Today, business and management have become quite technical, mechanical and to a large extent artificial devoid of human feelings and virtues. But, Swami always emphasised on the need for Management to have 'Man' i.e. human beings at its center and as its very core. 'Sathya Sai with Students' Blog Update - Week 70

Sai Ram,

We present updates for Week 70. As the Annual Sports and Cultural Meet at Prasanthi Nilayam culminated this week, and the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences celebrates its 13th Anniversary in the coming week, our articles focus on these themes.

1. DISCOURSES TO STUDENTS: Man is immensely proud of his physical strength, fitness and clout. As a result, he regales in it and uses it and even misuses it, as he deems fit. However, the wise one doesn't get stuck at the physical level, and moves on to cultivate fitness at the next level - the mental level. Swami guides us on: The Journey from Physical Fitness to Mental Health.

http://sathyasaiwithstudents.blogspot.in/2014/01/the-journey-from-physical-fitness-to.html

2. EXPERIENCES OF STUDENTS: Brother B. Satish Chandra writes on the theme: "Are We Ready?".

http://sathyasaiwithstudents.blogspot.in/2014/01/are-we-ready-by-b-satish-chandra.html

3. CONVERSATIONS WITH STUDENTS: It was a great opportunity for students and staff of Swami's Institutions to gain feedback from Him after the completion of every major event. And the Annual Sports and Cultural Meet was not an exception. However, Swami would invariably use this opportunity to drive in many important lessons for life. The event was a means, the end was individual excellence and self-perfection. Here is one such conversation after the culmination of the Annual Sports Meet on January 12, 2003 - "How was the Sports Meet?"

http://sathyasaiwithstudents.blogspot.in/2014/01/how-was-sports-meet.html

4. MANAGEMENT LESSONS: While managers have unique roles and skill sets, they are human beings at their very core. And as human beings, they need to discharge four important responsibilities common to all mankind while doing their specific tasks in their work-a-day life. In a two-part series, we dwell on these four responsibilities elaborated by Swami to His Management students over two decades ago. What are these 4 responsibilities of human beings? - Part 2

http://sathyasaiwithstudents.blogspot.in/2014/01/the-four-responsibilities-for-human_16.html

5. THIS DAY THAT AGE: While 14th of January is an important date for us for many reasons: one being the auspiscious festival of Makar Sankranti and second being the celebration of the Prize Distribution ceremony of the Sathya Sai Educational Institutions since the last three decades. However, it is an important occasion for one more reason. What is that?

http://sathyasaiwithstudents.blogspot.in/2014/01/when-was-foundation-stone-of-prasanthi.html

6. SONG FOR THE SOUL: As we celebrated the Annual Sports and Cultural Meet last week at the Sri Sathya Sai Educational Institutions, we continue a special collection of songs composed and set to music by Swami's students through this month. This week we have a Hindu song by the students belonging to the batch of the year 2000 - 'With great enthusiasm in our hearts - Dil Mein Lekar Utsah Anupam.'

http://sathyasaiwithstudents.blogspot.in/2014/01/with-great-enthusiasm-in-our-hearts-dil.html

“Spectacular Sankranthi” – Radiosai Special facebook timeline cover to celebrate Makar Sankrathi festival!

Makar Sankrathi falls on the 14th of January almost every year. On this day, the sun enters the house of Capricorn (or Makara as it is known in the Hindu Almanac), so it is known as Makara Sankranthi. It marks the commencement of the sun's journey to the Northern Hemisphere and is consider...ed to be of great spiritual significance in the scriptures. It is also the time when farmers rejoice after the toils of the year result in a bountiful harvest in the fields, and is celebrated all over the country.

Indeed, the harvest festival is common to many cultures all over the world and is an occasion of joyful celebration and warm conviviality. In Prasanthi Nilayam, the festival coincides with the valedictory function of the Annual Sports and Cultural Meet of Swami’s educational institutions, when the prize winners of the various events and competitions held during the year are felicitated. Devotees can witness a beautiful session full of talents and can ovserve the dedication of His students towards their Lord.

Let us go through some Divine Discourses and see what Swami has told us about the significance of Sankranthi.

“Makara Sankranthi marks the movement of the Sun from the southern horizon to the northern horizon. This northward movement of the Sun has immense spiritual significance. The north is symbolised by Himaachala. Hima means snow. It is pure, untainted and soothingly cool. All these endow it with the quality of Prashanthi (perfect peace). Achala means that which is steady and unshakeable. Himaachala does not refer to the physical Himalayan Mountains. It represents that which is cool, peaceful and steady. From this day the Sun is said to move towards such a state. The Sun symbolises the vision of man. The northward movement of the Sun is a call to human beings to turn their vision towards that which is cool, peaceful and unchanging, i.e. towards the divinity within.

- Divine Discourse: 14 January, 1994

“The Sankranthi festival should be regarded as the day on which man turns his vision toward God. Man's life may be compared to a stalk of sugar cane. Like the cane, which is hard and has many knots, life is full of difficulties. But these difficulties have to be overcome to enjoy the bliss of the Divine, just as the sugar cane has to be crushed and its juice converted into jaggery to enjoy the permanent sweetness of jaggery. Enduring bliss can be obtained only by overcoming trials and tribulations. Gold cannot be made into an attractive jewel without subjecting to the process of melting in a crucible and beating it into the required shape”.

- Divine Discourse: January 15, 1992

Feel free to make it your timeline cover and share with all to celebrate Spectacular Sankranthi with us. Let your inner being awakened with the light of Sun and may all corners of your heart will be filled with that light. May all farmers will grow good crops and may all the beings in all the worlds be happy.

MESMERISING AND BREATH TAKING SPORTS AND CULTURAL MEET 2014

Om Sairam dearest Sai Family

January 11th is the day when every one in and around Puttaparthi look forward to dropping into the Sathya Sai Hill view stadium for few breath taking moments which has been a tradition since a long time.

There were many instances where Swami encouraged and motivated His students to take part actively in the Annual Sports and Cultural Meet. Not many spiritual organisations or institutions can " risk" students or the students take a " risk" in doing such mesmerising feats but when these students have Sai by their side what is there to worry about!!!

This is the third Sports and Cultural meet in the "physical absence" of Swami and this year's event was thoroughly enjoyed and some times the students brought every one of us in the edge of the seats by their performances which even experts fail to deliver on many occasions.

The general schedule of a Sai Student's diary is very hectic as there is equal emphasis on value based education along with regular attendance in Sai Kulwanth hall, the week long grama seva, preparations for dramas, musical presentations and before they take a deep breath the academic year will be nearing to the end and the final exams would be right on the door step.

It is sheer grace of Swami, that a Sai Student gets that strenght and courage to face this hectic schedule and come out with flying colours which makes them stand out in their professional and personal lives after leaving the institution.

The morning session of this year's Sports meet had the students of Anantapur Campus, Muddenahalli and Brindavan Campus performing various items. The Sai Sisters from Anantapur literally stole the show in the morning with their unbelievable bike stunts which involved high risk and a blink of eye lid meant a big disaster. This item was enough of proof to gauge their devotion to their loving Master and Swami's omniscient helping hand .

Just when the sisters from Anantapur finished their performances the Muddenahalli campus came out with their bikes. At least i thought

this is like offering sugar when you just had laddus but Muddenahalli campus boys did a fantastic job with the bikes which surprised every one.

The Brindavan campus also were fantastic and more educative where they emphasised on disaster management and showed how one can come out of fire accidents, what kind of first aid is to be given etc and their cricket drill with beautiful human formations on the back ground was very interesting and received huge applauds from the devotees.. .

The evening session was the turn of Smt.Eswaramma School, Primary school and Prashanthi Nilayam Campus. The programmes of Eswaramma school were highly competitive considering the less experience they have in such cultural events compared to the Primary school.

It was very tough to say who was the best as every one were unique be it the fearless jumps into the fires, the nursing students' stunts or the magical lighting done by the Prashanthi Nilayam campus.

Over all it was one of the best starts for the year 2014 and with Swami as our "Antharyami" there are many more beautiful things to follow..

Here is a good news for devotees visiting Parthi from overseas. The Anantapur SP office has opened this new facility where you can extend the visas online. In a press release here on Friday, the SP said that all tourists had to register themselves through the ‘C’ form available with the SP office for visiting the district. They also had to take a residential permit within 14 days of entering the district. Now, if a tourist intends to extend his stay in the district, he has to apply for extension of the visa two months prior to its expiry, stating the reasons.

The tourists can log on to http://boi.gov.in/ and submit details to get an appointment with the SP. They can collect all the required documents for a legalized stay on the same day, the press release said.

'Sathya Sai with Students' Blog Update - Week 69: Annual Sports and Cultural Meet Special

Sai Ram,

As the Annual Sports and Cultural Meet of the Sri Sathya Sai Educational Institutions commences on January 11th and culminates with the Prize Distribution Ceremony on 14th January, we have a special update on this occasion.

We also take this opportunity to wish all our readers a HOLY MAKARA SANKRANTI AND PONGAL.

1. DISCOURSES TO STUDENTS: There is one thing which binds all mankind irrespective of caste, creed, language and religion. What is that? God, indeed... One more? But of course - Sports!! We are all great admirers of many different kinds of sports and games. But what is the true purpose of Sports? As all the students of the Sri Sathya Sai Educational Institutions celebrate their Annual Sports and Cultural Meet this week, we reminisce the Divine Insights on 'The True Glory of Sports'.

http://sathyasaiwithstudents.blogspot.in/2014/01/the-true-glory-of-sports.html

2. EXPERIENCES OF STUDENTS: Brother C.V. Subash writes on the theme: "An Extraordinary Journey... With Sri Sathya Sai".

http://sathyasaiwithstudents.blogspot.in/2014/01/an-extraordinary-journey-with-sri.html

3. CONVERSATIONS WITH STUDENTS: While the usual setting for conversations between Swami and His Students is the Mandir portico, the interview room or Trayee Brindavan, we have a very unique setting for this week's conversation - The Hill View Stadium. And what's the occasion? It is one of those rare opportunities for the students and staff when Swami, the Revered Founder Chancellor of Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning would come and supervise the Sports Meet practice sessions. We reminisce one such day of January 8, 2003 - This very week, but 11 years ago...

http://sathyasaiwithstudents.blogspot.in/2014/01/when-swami-revered-chancellor.html

What are these 4 responsibilities of human beings?

http://sathyasaiwithstudents.blogspot.in/2014/01/the-four-responsibilities-for-human.html

5. THIS DAY THAT AGE: When did Swami travel by plane for the very first time? Indeed, a very interesting question! It was on this very day in the year 1949. What was the occasion? What was the route? And who were the blessed co-travellers? Read on:

http://sathyasaiwithstudents.blogspot.in/2014/01/the-very-first-time-when-sri-sathya-sai.html

6. SONG FOR THE SOUL: As we celebrate the Annual Sports and Cultural Meet this week at the Sri Sathya Sai Educational Institutions, we present a special collection of songs composed and set to music by Swami's students through this month. This week we have a Hindu song by the students belonging to the batch of the year 2000-01 - 'Vaada Karte Hain Hum - We promise You.'

GLORIOUS 2013- A RECAP

Om Sairam dearest Sai Family

What a fantastic 2013 it was!!! Swami was at His best showering tons and tons of blessings on His children and Puttaparthi had a bridal look right through the year with number of activities, beautiful decorations, amazing programmes in Sai Kulwanth Hall and thousands of new devotees thronging to the holy abode.

Here are few notes from my dairy which may not be chronological...

This year started off with a blast with beautiful Sports meet, the harvest festival Sankranthi

During the Shivarathri festival, the Sathya Saieeswara Lingam was again the main attraction as the Priest Sri.Nanjunda Dixit of Ati Rudra Mahayagna fame was present to do the ritualistic prayers to the Lingam. This was followed by

APRIL 2013:

The month of April saw the dawn of Tamil New Year on April 15th which was celebrated by thousands of Tamil devotees with excellent programmes by the Sai Organisation of Tamil Nadu.

Just as the crowd was picking up to mark the Sri Sathya Sai Aradhana Mahotsavam on April 24th, the beautiful festival of Rama, Sri Ramanavami was celebrated in Prasanthi nilayam. There is hardly a village in India without a Rama idol or Rama Temple. Thousands of devotees were present on this holy occasion. In the evening, Prof.Anil Kumar, taking the stories narrated by Swami from His discourses, gave a beautiful talk on Sri Rama, both in Telugu and English.

YAGNA FOR WORLD PEACE:

Marking the day of Swami's departure from His physical body, starting from April 22nd, a three day " Viswa Shanthi Homam" was performed in Sai Kulwanth hall which was attended by well versed and highly knowledgeable pandits. Every after noon there were talks by renowned scholars.

On April 24th, thousands of devotees from near by villages were fed with sumptuous food in Sri Sathya Sai Hill view stadium.

MAY 2013. MOTHER ESWARAMMA DAY:

The hot month of May always had less number of devotees in Parthi during those days but this year was an exception. This month of May will be remembered for a long time thanks to the emotionally packed drama titled " Mathru Bhakthi" by the students of Sri Sathya Sai School, Delhi. If there is any one out there who is fond of watching plays, (hope this particular DVD is available) do get a copy and watch this play. The girl in the lead role really made every one cry when she goes to Swami's Mahasamadhi and sings " O Maa.. O Maa..

There was also a dance drama by the children of Sri Sathya Sai School Haryana on the occasion of Eswaramma day.

JUNE 2013:

It was the school re-opening time. After a scorching May, Puttaparthi was getting into the mood of getting some rain. The streets were full with all the parents coming to Prasanthi to admit their children to the school. It was also a tense moment for the aspiring candidates who were expecting the final results. Every child that studies here are personally hand picked by Swami failing which one can't study here.

As every one were settled in the school, as is the tradition the Summer Course in Indian Culture and Spirituality started on June 8th. most of the proceedings were held indoors exclusively for students in Poornachandra Auditorium

JULY 2013;

After a more or less quiet June, the month of July arrived with lots of anticipation. The holy festival of Gurupoornima was underway and devotees started to come in big numbers to seek the blessings of Jagath Guru Bhagwan Sri Sathya Sai Baba.

The month of July saw some inspiring talks by Sri.Amey Desha Pande, Dr.Srikanth Sola, which was followed by a beautiful Choir by the European devotees and musical presentation by the students of Sri Sathya Sai Mirpuri College of Music.

Ramadan was celebrated in Prasanthi Nilayam in the form of Musical offering by the devotees from the Middle East.

AUGUST 2013:

The highlight of this month was the strong 1500 member group from the state of Odhisha who literally won every one's hearts. The group comprised of mostly tribals and the Yagna performed in the ashram premises was one of its kind which speaks high of their devotion and dedication.

later came Krishna Janmastami which was celebrated in a tradtional way by feeding the animals of Sri Sathya Sai Gokulam. The students offered a musical programme singing beautiful Krishna Songs.

SEPTEMBER 2013:

This is the month when Prashanthi gets little bit of rain and is draped in greenery probably to welcome the Keralites, who come to celebrate Onam... Swami, on innumerable occasions has praised the quality of drama presentations by the Kerala devotees and sure enough they " stil" maintain the same " quality" which was visible during the drama on Emperor Mahabali.

At the last part of September, in spite of huge catastrophe the devotees of Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh, supressing their grief came in big numbers to Prashanthi to show their love and gratitute to Swami.

OCTOBER 2013:

This is one of the most busy months especially due to the Grama Seva and week long Dasara festival. With Swami's grace, this year's Grama seva was a grand success and the Prashanthi Vidwan Mahasabha, the week long yagna for world peace was attended by maximum number of devotees. The state of Andhra Pradesh where Puttaparthi is situated was undergoing lot of political unrest over the bifurcation of the state and there was a complete shut down for nearly 50 days with no public transport at the disposal. This forced many devotees to cancel their pilgrimage to Prashanthi especially during the Dasara week.

Added to this, there was also a possibility of huge damage to the coastal part of Andhra Pradesh and Odhisha due to Phailin Cyclone, but Swami was very kind to convert it into just a "passing cloud".

NOVEMBER 2013:

November, this year witnessed amazing programmes with jam packed audiences. The Akhanda Bhajan to start with had an incredible energy and then followed the week long 88th birthday celebrations which also had unique programmes like " whistle concert" and Chinese Singer Chong's Karnatic concert.

DECEMBER 2013:

December, in Prashanthi is always special as maximum number of over seas devotees come to Prashanthi during this month. The devotees from Australia need a special mention here for their dedication in putting up beautiful decoration on the holy occasion of Christmas. Just as the decorations were on, there was a surprise high profile visitor to Prashanthi and it was none other than, the President of India, Sri. Pranab Mukherjee who came in a special plane.

After arriving around 3 PM, the President went to Sai Kulwanth Hall and offered his prayers to Swami and had a brief interaction with the Trustees who briefed him about the noble work done the Trust.

CNBC AWARD FOR SATHYA SAI MOBILE HOSPITAL:

Even though the Sai Organisation is not after awards or rewards, its amazing to note that Sri Sathya Sai Mobile Hospital has bagged "Best Innovation and Research in Health Care" category by the CNBC TV18 channel. In this photo is seen Dr.Narasimhan (far right), key member of the mobile hospital team receiving award from Sri.Montek Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Planning Commission, Govt. of India. To their right is Sri.Naganand, Trustee, Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust.

Over all, it was an amazing year with so much of activity in the air. Unlike the previous two years or so, there was no negative publicity by the media nor any controversies creeping up. The ashram was busy with all the regular activities and the management was doing its job of getting all the things right. Interestingly the number of new comers to Prashanthi is increasing day by day which indeed is a good sign. There is so much enthusiasm among the devotees to dive deep into the message of our Lord.

When it comes to the number of devotees visiting Prashanthi, South Africa still tops the list with maximum number of devotees visiting Prashanthi. They are also topping the list for staying for longer durations which needs to be followed by other devotees who otherwise, seem to be in a hurry to leave Prashanthi after having just one or two darshans. Talking of South Africa, few devotees who were in Prashanthi this December held a memorial service in the name of Late Sri.Nelson Mandela. Prof.Anil Kumar once again did a fantastic job by narrating some very unique qualities from the life of Nelson Mandela. The video of this talk can be watched in the following link

http://youtu.be/0Aq4NadRTes

The Trust and its activities are getting more and more transparent with all the details made available online. Unlike other organisations which are bit liberal in fund raising, the modus operandi of fund raising in Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust, is still the same as set up by Swami, with no donations boxes or notice boards asking for funds.. In spite of this, the devotees' support is marvelous and all the service projects started by Swami are functioning properly, in tune with the principles laid by Swami.

FESTIVAL CALENDER FOR 2014:

For those devotees who skipped/missed your pilgrimage to Parthi, please make sure you visit the holy Abode this year and get spiritually energised and recharged. Here are few important happenings in 2014.

With Swami's grace, the year 2014 is going to be another mile stone in the History of Sai mission. Lets us all pray and stay united to reach the goals set up by our Lord..

With Pranams at the Lotus feet of our beloved Lord,

R.Satish Naik

'Sathya Sai with Students' Blog Update - Week 68

Sai Ram,

In the new year of 2014, 'Sathya Sai with Students' Team presents its first update for Week 68

1. DISCOURSES TO STUDENTS: We are all desirous of leading a righteous life. And that's one reason why we read His Message on a regular basis, through this blog and other sources as well. As we commence the new year full of hopes for a better year ahead, Swami gives us the 'Twin Pillars that form the basis of a Righteous Life' as enjoined by the scriptures. In a two-part series we share these two as elaborated by Swami in sufficient detail such that we can practice them with great conviction and clarity.

http://sathyasaiwithstudents.blogspot.in/2014/01/the-twin-pillars-of-righteous-life.html

2. EXPERIENCES OF STUDENTS: Brother Gunaranjan Turaga writes on the theme: "Studying at the Sri Sathya Sai Institute - The Road Less Travelled...".

http://sathyasaiwithstudents.blogspot.in/2014/01/studying-at-sri-sathya-sai-institute.html

3. CONVERSATIONS WITH STUDENTS: As the euphoria of the new year settles down this week, and we commence our daily tasks at home and work, here is a message from Swami. In an interaction with students and staff in the Prasanthi Nilayam portico in June 2002, Swami explained how to: "Do your Duty with Detachment".

http://sathyasaiwithstudents.blogspot.in/2014/01/do-your-duty-with-detachment.html

4. MANAGEMENT LESSONS: The world over, a large number of problems have been witnessed in the field of Finance during the last decade. While this field is highly lucrative, it is also prone to a lot of unethical and immoral behaviour. So where do the solutions lie to these problems of the world of finance? In the last past of this three-part series, we conclude the 9 Values-Based Solutions proposed by Swami through a series of Discourses to His Management Students: "Values-Based Solutions to Financial Problems".

http://sathyasaiwithstudents.blogspot.in/2014/01/values-based-solutions-to-financial.html

5. THIS DAY THAT AGE: His Story and Glory is beyond human ken. Here is one such Leela of the year 1940 - January 1st when 'Swami saved His school friends during World War II'.

http://sathyasaiwithstudents.blogspot.in/2014/01/when-sri-sathya-sai-helped-his-school.html

6. SONG FOR THE SOUL: As we get set to celebrate the Annual Sports and Cultural Meet this fortnight at the Sri Sathya Sai Educational Institutions, we present a special collection of songs composed and set to music by Swami's students through this month. This week we have a Telugu song by the students belonging to the batch of the late 1990s.

Background image: The beautiful Chariot of Krishna and Arjuna inside Bhajan Mandir of Sai Kulwant Hall.

The very name “Sanathana Sarathi” specifies its purpose. In fact, Bhagawan Himself is Sanathana Sarathi, the Eternal Charioteer of man. In a world afflicted by greed, selfishness, hatred, cruelty and violence, this Avatar has come as the Eternal Charioteer of mankind to steer it on the path of Sathya, Dharma, Santhi, Prema and Ananda for the moral and spiritual  regeneration of the world.

Started in 1958, Sanathana Sarathi is a monthly magazine devoted to Sathya (Truth), Dharma (Righteousness), Shanthi (Peace) and Prema (Love) - the four cardinal principles of Bhagawan Baba's philosophy. It is published from Prasanthi Nilayam (the Abode of Supreme Peace) and acts as a mouthpiece of Baba's Ashram as it speaks of the important events that take place in His sacred Abode, besides carrying Divine Messages conveyed through Divine Discourses of Bhagawan Baba.

During the occasion of the launch of Sanathana Sarathi on Feb 16, Maha Shivarathri, 1958, Bhagawan declared:

"From this day, our Sanathana Sarathi will lead to victory the cohorts of truth - the Vedas, the Sastras and similar scriptures of all faiths, against the forces of the ego such as injustice, falsehood, immorality and cruelty. This is the reason why it has emerged. This Sarathi will fight in order to establish world prosperity. It is bound to sound the paean of triumph when universal Ananda is achieved."

Bhagawan willed “Sanathana Sarathi” to be a scripture like the Vedas, Upanishads and other scriptures of the world. It is, of course, a source of solace, peace and illumination for its readers like all scriptures. But it is different from other scriptures in two ways. First, it is a scripture that has not been labelled as Hindu, Christian, Muslim, etc. Rather, it is a scripture for the followers of all the religions of the world because it preaches an altogether different religion – the religion of love, which binds all mankind into one. Secondly, it is a scripture which is being handed out to mankind by Loving Lord. It is therefore no wonder that the readers of “Sanathana Sarathi” find in the printed words of Bhagawan Baba a divine energy which overwhelms, elevates, enlightens and transforms them.

Feel free to download this “Sanathana Sarathi Saisha” wallpaper and set this as your desktop wallpaper or make it your Google+ and facebook timeline cover photo. Make Swami the charioteer of your life and He will lead you on the path of righteousness. Always seek His guidance which will lead you to your ultimate destination and elevate you from the ocean of illusion. Let us pray to Eternal Charioteer for bestowing His eternal love upon all of us.
