Free Diagnostic Heart Camp at Dharmakshetra Mumbai  - A Report - 3rd August 2014

Sri Sathya Sai Mobile Medicare Project - Maharashtra & Goa

The Sri Sathya Mobile Medicare project has, with Bhagawan's Blessings, reached out to over 26 lakh patients since inception. Several initiatives were undertaken during this journey. The Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation, Maharashtra & Goa, instead of resting at this goalpost, continues wholeheartedly to this seva of taking Bhagawan's love to the masses, by undertaking many innovative methods.

SAI SEVA REPORT - DIL WITHOUT BILL

‘What is the unmistakable mark of a wise person? Love for all humanity’ These profound words of Bhagwan Sri Sathya sai Baba set the tone for the free diagnostinc Heart Camp at Dharmakshetra, Mumbai, apt...ly titled, ‘Dil without Bill.’

Sponsored by HPCL, the camp was inaugurated by the Honourable Health Minister of State, Shri Suresh Shetty.

The camp would screen patients and schedule free heart surgeries and procedures for them in the Sri Sathya Sai Heart Hospital Rajkot - a state-of-the-art facility for the economically challenged strata of society. In this hospital, all diagnosis, procedures, surgeries, post operative care and medicine are provided absolutely free of cost to all patients irrespective of caste, creed or religion.

And like all Sathya Sai Service Projects this one too has a deep spiritual core which effortlessly combines the Philosophy of Healing with the Science of Love. Apart from the most advanced medical equipments and treatment methods the hospital is equipped with a massive prayer hall where patients, their families and the staff congregate to pray for each other’s health and well being. Says Dr. Varsha Shah a cardiac surgeon with over 34 years of practice and who has been associated with the Rajkot hospital for the past 12 years, “The hospital has an eternal vibration of Divine Power. Nowhere else in the world have I seen patients walking on the second day of the surgery! This place truly has the blessing of the Almighty.”

True to the Sathya Sai tradition the camp began with the reverberating chants of the Vedas and Bhajans charging the atmosphere with a verve of love and Divine Energy. These invigorating prayers offered peace and hope to the patients like Ahmed Janjani from Ulhasnagar.

Ahmed is a 45 year old father of two. He battled a neurological ailment for 5 years months ago and has now been asked to undergo a bypass since 2 years. His condition has rendered him unable to work, the expenses of his medicines have forced his children to quit school.

He came to the camp with the hope of changing his life…This hope is not farfetched at all since the loving and state-of-the-art care provided at the Rajkot hospital has changed lives.

Says Rahul Tiwari who had got his 3 year old son operated for 3 holes in the heart several years ago, “This is not a hospital but rather a temple – in an ordinary temple people worship God but in this one the hospital staff worship patients.” The dignitaries present at the event hailed the firm commitment, and round the clock service rendered by the hospital staff and the Seva Dal Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organization as being more important than mere monetary aid to make this hospital comparable to some of the best cardiac treatment centres in the world.

National Anthem at the end of the function

Even the volunteers of the Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organization Maharashtra and Goa had worked for weeks together with the teams of HPCL in spreading awareness of the camp, pre screening the patients according to the economic and medical criteria provided by Rajkot, registering the cases and numerous other details of the camp. The camp had facilities for 2D scans and ECGs. 225 patients from the remotest corners of Maharashtra were screened and 120 patients have already been scheduled for surgery at Rajkot. The humongous humanitarian work at Rajkot Heart hospital confirms that the greatest deeds, the most profound changes in the world can be accomplished only through loving hearts!

Why is it absurd for us to see inequality amongst God’s creation? Bhagawan lovingly explains to us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Sunday, August 24, 2014

All five elements are present in the human form. From the Element of Space, emotions, prejudices, apprehensions, shyness and the like are born. The Element of Air within the body causes the reflexes and movements like walking, respiration, etc. Hunger, thirst, sleep and fear are aspects of Fire. Blood, mucus and saliva emanates from the Element of Water. Finally skin, muscles, veins, bones and nails are the aspects representing the Earth Element. When you internalise this truth, who can argue, “This is mine, that is yours”, “I am greater, you are inferior” and so on. Anyone who speaks thus is dull-headed, unable to appreciate and see the reality. If only they have a deeper understanding, they can comprehend the truth in creation. Never be bogged down by the prevailing times or circumstances. That will amount to leading a narrow life. Develop an expansive way of life and carefully tread the path, that is ever new, holy and eternal.

Where is Divinity? Is the Divine accessible only to a select few? Bhagawan lovingly reminds us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Saturday, August 23, 2014

A scabbard is a sheath for the sword. Rice is sheathed in a husk. A tamarind seed is sheathed by tamarind pulp, which in turn is sheathed by the outer shell. Thus when one thing hides another thing and its identity, it is called as a Sheath. Every human body is made up of five sheaths – The Annamaya (f...ood) Kosha sheath covers the Pranamaya (life) Kosha. Pranamaya sheath covers Manomaya (mind) Kosha, which in turn covers Vijnanamaya (intellect) Kosha. The Anandamaya (bliss) Kosha is the kernel hidden in Vijnanamaya Kosha, wherein the soul resides. Thus the Divine Soul is safely secured within each being without exception. Hence, everyone has the equal right and opportunity to seek the soul within them. But then one has to feel an urge to attain it and direct their activities towards it. By birth, the urge to attain and experience the Atmic status has been gifted to everyone, automatically.

- My Dear Students, Vol 2, Ch 16, July 23, 1989.

To experience the Divine, people should close their mouths and open their hearts. -BABA.

What has devotion got to do with serving those around us? Bhagawan lovingly awakens the sense of inner discrimination and makes us introspect on our innermost feelings today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Friday, August 22,... 2014

A devotee without the faculty of observation and discrimination fails to ascertain what is real and unreal. They cause pain to others, though they have no intention of troubling others, as they lack the capability of understanding. Such people and many others preach about devotion beyond attributes. Anyone who does not have the quality of being helpful to others, and is devoid of compassion and pity is said to be possessing demonic devotion. Some other people lose the relationships with people who are near to them, thinking that the object that is dear to them is far away. Such devotees can be called as practicing devotion with hatred. Stay away from all of these practices. The true aspirant is the one, who has love, compassion and concern for all, including those who are less privileged than themselves. They work with them and help them in a way in accordance to the status. Love is primordial in devotion.

- My Dear Students, Vol 3, Ch 7, July 9 1989.

To regard the universe as a manifestation of God and to experience it as such is real devotion. – BABA

Rudram 11 - Ljubljana, Slovenia (27.09.2014)

Dear brothers and sisters

After successfully concluding Rudram 2012 and Chamakam 2013 projects, Veda Union is starting next project in its mission of uniting Europe through the Vedas - Rudram 11.

Rudram 11 is a Veda Union project with the goal to organize 11 times continuous chanting of Sri Rudram Camakam hymns at 11 different locations in Europe. These magnificent hymns will thus be chanted overall 121 times in different locations by numerous devotees of God and will spread the sacred vibrations throughout European subcontinent.

The first of 11 such unique events is going to be held in Ljubljana, Slovenia on Saturday, 27.09.2014. All are invited to save the date and attend the sacred Vedic recitation.

With this announcement we also share a wonderful news of receiving a Chathurmuka (four faced) Shiva lingam from famous Pashupatinath temple in Nepal as a gift to all devotees of Veda Union. The lingam, which was taken to a local shrine in Kathmandu dedicated to Sri Sathya Sai Baba, was blessed by materialized vibhoothi. Still full of sacred ash and its fragrance, the lingam arrived in Ljubljana to bestow all success and protection to the new Veda Union project. The lingam will decorate the main altar during the Rudram 11 event in Ljubljana where all will be allowed to have a sacred darshan.

What are the different types of happiness? Bhagawan, our Loving God, explains to us today and motivates us to attain it.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Thursday, August 21, 2014

Priyam, Modam and Pramodam are three types of ...happiness. For example, when you recall your favourite fruit, you experience some happiness. When you spot the fruit in the market, you feel greater joy! (Modam). Finally, when you procure the fruit and relish it, it gives the greatest joy! (Pramodam). Thus, Priyam is the pleasantness or happiness that arises due to the affection you have on a particular thing, person or object. Modam is the happiness you experience when you come in contact with the things you like. Pramodam is the ecstasy, the real happiness you experience when you actually enjoy the object of your liking. Similarly, the thrill you experience by knowing God’s powers – the manifestation of His Divinity and His love from scriptures and epics is called Priyam. When you put into practice what you heard, you derive the happiness of Modam. You experience Pramodam, the everlasting state of joy and bliss, when you are in Union with God.

- My Dear Students, Vol 2, Ch 16, July 23, 1989.

All of us pray very frequently. What kind of prayer do we offer? Bhagawan lovingly reminds us to introspect and offer the right prayers.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Wednesday, August 20, 2014

The easiest means to achiev...e love for God is to worship God as having a form. Worship of God is of three important types: Satvic, Rajasic and Tamasic. In the Tamasic form of worship, the individual prays to God but continues violence, anger and pomp, causing pain. Any worship that is done for the sake of name, fame, with pomp and ego is called the Tamasic worship. Rajasic worship is done for the sake for fulfilling selfish interests and to attain great heights in one’s life. Devotion with the feeling that one alone should be safe, happy and should be blessed involves utter selfishness. Such a devotee does not even aspire or think about the well-being of the family or the society. A Satvic devotee performs all daily tasks to please God, with total surrender and offers all tasks performed during the day as loving service to God.

- My Dear Students, Vol 3, Ch 7, July 9 1989.

Why is equanimity an essential value and how does it help us in day to day life? Bhagawan explains to us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Tuesday, August 19, 2014

You must welcome both summer and winter, for they are both essential for the process of living. The alternation of seasons toughens and sweetens us. Birth and death are both natural events. We cannot discover the reason for either birth or death. They simply happen. Hence we must learn to welcom...e the field of natural ups and downs (Prakrithika). The second is the field of social equanimity: We often try to blame some person or some incident for the injury or loss we suffer but the real reason is our own karma (action). When the background of the event is known, the impact can be lessened or even negated. Hence you must welcome with equal-mindedness fame and blame, respect and ridicule, profit and loss, and such other responses and reactions from the society in which one has to grow and struggle.

- Divine Discourse, Sep 7, 1985.

Fortune is as much a challenge to one's equanimity as misfortune. - BABA

How to ensure our love for God grows with every passing day? Bhagawan clearly explains to us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Monday, August 18, 2014

All have faith in the power of love. But how is this love to be fostered and developed? This question may arise in the minds of many.

When people ask, "How can we develop our love for the Lord?" The answer is: "There is only one way. When you put into practice the love in which you have faith, that love will g...row." Because you do not practise what you profess, your faith gets weakened. A plant will grow only when it is watered regularly. When you have planted the seed of love, you can make it grow only by watering it with love every day. The tree of love will grow and yield the fruits of love. Often people today do not perform those acts which will promote love. When you wish to develop love for the Lord, you must continually practice loving devotion to the Lord.

- Divine Discourse, Sep 2, 1991.

Believe that God resides in all beings. Speak such words as would spread goodness, truth and beauty. – BABA.

News from Parthi - Satish Naik

Aum Sai Ram dearest Sai Family,

Wishing all my brothers and sisters a very happy Sri Krishna Janmashtami from Kaliyuga's Mathura, Prasanthi Nilayam. Sharing with you some important quotes from Swami in Sri Krishna taken from various discourses.. Feel free to share and immerse in the "krishnatatva"

Jai Sai Ram

Satish Naik

SRI KRISHNA... THE BESTOWER OF ANANDA

Krish means attract, draw, as in aakarshana. Even a confirmed protagonist of Adhwaitha, (the contemplation of the Universal absolute without name and form), like Madhusuudhana Saraswathi confesses that the attraction for the playful child on the Yamuna sands is irresistible.

Krishna draws the mind away from sensory desires; that is another way in which the draw operates. He pulls the mind towards him and so, they are pulled away from everything else, for everything else is inferior, less valuable. He satisfies the deepest thirst of man, for peace, joy and wisdom. That is why He is Meghashyaama---dark-blue as the rain cloud. The very sight of the rain-laden cloud is so refreshing. He is lotus-eyed, lotus palmed, lotus-soled; the lotus is reminiscent of cool, calm, deep lakes of limpid water, the water that quenches thirst. When Krishna-thrishna is quenched, the highest Aanandha is attained; there is no more need, no more want, defect or decline. The urge to drink inferior drinks, that only feed the thirst, disappears when once the  sweetness of Krishna nama and Krishna bhaava (name and thought of Krishna) are tasted.

Significance of Krishna's birth and growth

Inline images 4

Krishna is said to have been born in Gokula, He grew up in Brindhaavan, He proceeded to Mathura and He established His home finally at Dwaaraka. The significance of this to the saadhaka is, "Let Krishna be born in the Gokula of your Mind; let Him grow and play prankishly in the Brindhaavan of your Heart; let Him then be fixed in the Chiththa of Mathura; and, finally, let Him rule over the agitationless Consciousness as the Lord and Master of Dhwaaraka." The Nirvikalpa aanandham  is the final result of His Kingdom established at Dhwaaraka, in the centre of the waves.

WHY WAS KRISHNA BORN AS THE EIGHTH CHILD?

Inline images 3

Sri Krishna was born as the eighth child of Dhevaki. This is significant, for  Samaadhi is the eighth stage of spiritual effort, coming after yama, niyama, aasana, pranaayaama, prathyahara, dharana and dhyaana. These are known as ashtaanga-yoga, the eight-fold discipline (abstension from evildoing, observance, control breath, posture, withdrawal of mind from sense objects, concentration, meditation and absorption in the Aathma. The Lord can be visualised only after the seven steps are successfully negotiated and the mind purified in the process. The term, samaadhi (superconciousness state of bliss), is generally identified with a temporary loss of consciousness, or even more, a temporary heightening of the consciousness. But we have to judge the state by the effect it has on the person and his attitude towards himself and others. Samadhi combines  sama (equal)  dhi (intelligence), that is to say, intelligence grasping the fundamental equality of every being. Not only will all feeling of difference and distinction disappear, but even notions such as heat and cold, grief and joy, good and Samaadhi combines sama (equal) dhi (intelligence), that is to say, intelligence grasping the fundamental equality of every being.

WHAT TO DO ON KRISHNASHTAMI?

Inline images 5

The celebration of Krishna Janmaashtami should not be confined to special puja and extra dishes for lunch. This narrow schedule arises from the desire to attract the Grace of Krishna. But that Grace can be won only by the observance of the teachings of Krishna. They will not be conferred on pride and pompous display. Adoring Krishna and avoiding His teaching is a sacrilege. You can give up the adoration; nevertheless, you can earn Grace if you sincerely  attempt to proceed on the path He has marked out.

Krishna was the embodiment of Love. Hence, Love is the virtue He appreciates most. Love has to turn into concrete acts of compassion. Cultivate compassion and develop sympathetic understanding, until you reach the goal, of merging in the embodiment of love, Krishna. He is Gopaala. 'Go' denotes not only the cow, it denotes the jeevi (humans and other living beings).

This day, Krishnaashtami, is the Day on which the Avathaarik (incarnational) career of Krishna began. Krishna gave man the call to rise from the beast to  Brahman.  By devotion and dedication to Him, man must earn the awareness that he is unrelated to all things that 'bind' him---body, riches, kith and kin, attributes and feelings.

BE THE FLUTE IN HIS HANDS:

For Krishna, the Avathaarhood was a leela (divine sport). His life was His Message. He was the embodiment of the noblest and the most fruitful Karmayoga (divine communion through selfless dedicated action). His actions had no trace of selfishness or pride or envy.

STEPS TO CULTIVATE THIRST FOR KRISHNA

The thirst for Krishna is a sign of health in the spiritual field. Not to have it is a sign of bhava roga--the fell disease that afflicts worldly persons, the symptoms being grief, discontent, pain and worry, even when wealth and health are endowed. That thirst can be cultivated by the reading of scriptures, the cultivation of congenial company, lessons from a kind and considerate Guru and regular practice of japam. Once it is acquired, the thirst itself will lead you on to places and persons able to quench it. That is the advantage of spiritual quest; the first step makes the second easy.

WAS KRISHNA BLUE IN COMPLEXION?

A doctor's prescription can be judged only by an equally qualified or a more qualified doctor, not by a patient suffering from the same or a different illness. No person afflicted with lust or envy or greed or attachment or egoism can pronounce judgement on the ethereal, formless, nameless principle that concretised as Krishna. Krishna is described as blue in physical colour, for, He is as deep and inscrutable as the sky; the blue is the colour which the eye comprehends, though the sky has no colour at all. So too, Krishna has no colour or attributes but, in order to comprehend Him, the mental eye attributes a colour. Grace of Krishna can be won only by the good. The Raakshasas (demons) did not get Amritha (nectar); for they would have misused it. Knowledge in the wicked is power misused for the stratagems of hate and greed. Grace too is power and it has to be endowed on the deserving only.

Therefore. character has to be sublimated into saturated piety and devotion. Then only can Grace be secured.

STEALER OF THE HEARTS

Krishna is referred to as “chora” (thief). What does He steal? He steals the butter-like hearts of the Gopis, hearts which are pure, soft and sweet. If you address someone as chora (thief), he will be annoyed. But if you call Krishna as “chiththa chora” (stealer of the heart), He will enjoy this appellation. That is why, devotees sing in praise of the Lord most endearingly “Chiththa chora Yashoda Ke Bal! Navaneetha chora Gopal! Gopal, Gopal, Gopal! Govardhanadhara Gopal!” (“Oh! Yashoda’s little Krishna! Oh! Gopala! Stealer of butter! Oh! Gopala! Lifter of the Govardhana mountain!”).

LONG TIME DEVOTEE OF BABA MR.ARTHUR HILLCOAT IS NO MORE:

Inline images 1

Dear Brothers and Sisters:

Om Sri Sai Ram.

It is with deep regret that I learnt that Arthur Hillcoat of Australia has merged with our Lord, Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. This is a great loss for the Sai organization worldwide, and in this time of grief, we offer our sincere condolences to Mrs. Poppy Hillcoat and their family. Arthur was an exemplary devotee who served Swami with great dedication and devotion for over three decades. It is no wonder that Swami lovingly used to refer to him as “Lion”. He was truly lion-hearted and spread Swami’s eternal and universal message of Love and Unity to the far corners of the world. You may also remember the brilliant and uplifting Christmas programs he used to organize in Prasanthi Nilayam in days past, and his dedicated service as the Chairman of Sathya Sai Council of Australia.

Let us pray to our Lord, Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba to give his soul permanent peace. May He also give the Hillcoat family strength and peace at this time.

Jai Sai Ram.

With loving regards,

Dr. Narendranath Reddy

Please pray for Jayalakshmi Madam:

Another long time devotee of Bhagawan for so many decades, a learnt scholar and a key member of Sri Sathya Sai Anantapur campus since its inception, Smt.Jayamma Gopinath is also very ill. She had a very good command over English and Swami gave her opportunity to interpret His discourses on few occasions.

Any Sai Sister who has studied in Anantapur Campus will fondly remember her for his simplicity and how she strived to groomed the girl students to prosper in studies adhering to Indian Culture.

I had an opportunity to listen to her talk in the auditorium when i went to admit my sister in Anantapur Campus. I liked the way she was she was stressing on three Telugu rhyming words " Kattu"(dress sense), " Bottu" (the traditional dot on the forehead which Indian women always have and " Juttu" (hair).

When you see the sisters of Anantapur campus go pass you in the ashram these are the 3 main things which we see.

Please do a small prayer for her and may she have less suffering..

Wishing all brothers and sisters a very happy KRISHNA JANMASHTAMI...

What is the significant message we must learn on this auspicious occasion of Krishna Janmashtami? Bhagawan lovingly guides us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Sunday, August 17, 2014

One of the meanings of the name ‘Krishna’ is: ‘The one who cultivates the land of the heart’. Krishna draws people, sows, grows and harvests love in broken hearts, conferring supreme delight. Lord Krishna loved cattle and tended the cows. While His brother Balarama had the ...plough as his inseparable weapon. The plough is not a destructive weapon; it is a tool that helps agriculture that feeds humanity. So both of them give themselves to all living beings. The message for you is: “Apply your knowledge into practice and harvest essentials that elevate all beings.” Always question yourself: "How have I contributed to the happiness of my fellow beings?" Expand your heart; let your love enfold everyone. Maintain self-respect. Develop self-confidence. Krishna is also worshipped as Gopala (Go refers to living beings). So when you serve fellowmen and all beings with selfless love and compassion, you are offering to Krishna the worship He most gladly accepts and He will bestow grace on you.

PRASANTHI DIARY : Krishna Janmastami Celebrations 2008

August 24, 2008 day dawned to usher in the birthday of the most fascinating Avatar of the Lord - Krishna. The Sai Kulwant Hall was brimming with people. Many devotees who were supposed to leave had decided to stay on to witness the splendour of the Krishna avatar with their dear Sai Krishna. So full was Prasanthi Nilayam that the main gate carried a notice, "Sairam! No accommodation available inside." Well, there was dearth of accommodation in the ashram, but no dearth of accommodative people! People had settled in the corridors of the Southern blocks and had spread sheets and mats wherever there was a little sheltered space.

SAI KRISHNA JANMASHTAMI

An exclusive Radiosai facebook timeline cover to celebrate the Auspicious occasion of Sri Krishnashtami!

Sri Krishna Janmashtami is the birthday of Lord Sri Krishna, the Avatar of the Dwapara Yuga, usually falls in ...late August in the Indian lunar month of Shravana. Bhagawan has declared that Lord Krishna’s advent took place at 3 a.m. on 20th July, 3228 B.C, the Ashtami Day (eighth day after full moon) under the star ‘Rohini’ in the dark fortnight (Krishna Paksha) of Shravana Masa in the year named ‘Srimukha’. Janmashtami (also called Gokulashtami or Krishnashtami) is a very colourful and joyous celebration in Prasanthi Nilayam. The Mandir transforms itself into another ‘Brindavan’ of the times of Lord Sri Krishna when as a child He frolicked in the company of His cowherd friends.

Here are some excerpts from our Lord Sai Krishna’s Discourse where He taught us the inner meaning of Krishna Consciousness:

“The incarnation of Krishna proclaimed the doctrine of divine love, as manifested by the cowherd maids (gopikas). Man is like an earthen pot filled with nectar. His body may be made of clay, but his spirit is eternal. The Divine has to be experienced through the body. Hence, human birth should not be treated as something trivial. Human life is worth living; it should be cherished as something precious. But today, such a precious gift is being treated as dirt. It is essential to realize the value of human existence. What is the goal of human life? It is to go back to the source from which we came.

Our duty is to return to our primordial source. You have come from the Atma. You have to go back to the Atma. You have come from the Brahman (Supreme Self). You have to merge in the Brahman. You have incarnated as a spark of Brahman. You have to become the Brahman. That is the ideal. That is the goal. In between, there may be many impediments. You should ignore them. Have unshakable faith. That is true devotion”.

- Divine Discourse: 18th August, 1995

What tools should we use to infer the presence of the Divine? Bhagawan lovingly explains to us today.

Today’s Sai Inspires from Prasanthi Nilayam, Saturday, August 16, 2014

In ancient times, the sages performed rigorous penance in the for...ests, living among wild animals. With no weapons in their hands, they relied on their spirit of love to protect them. They performed their penance with love for all beings. Their love transformed even the wild animals to be at peace with the sages. Love transformed even tigers into friendly beings. People in those days had soft and loving hearts. Thus since time immemorial, love has been serving as a powerful force to transform one's nature from the animal to the human. Today because people have lost the feeling of love, they are filled with selfishness and greed. It is to teach mankind the truth about this Divine Love that Love itself incarnates on earth in human form. The scriptures declare that the Divine descends on earth to teach mankind the path of Righteousness, Truth and Love.
