New Book Offered to Swami on Christmas Day 2013 & 'Sathya Sai with Students' Blog Update - Week 67: Christmas and New Year Special

NEW BOOK ON STUDENTS EXPERIENCES WITH SWAMI: We are happy to share that the Sai Publications Division of the Hostel has offered at the Divine Lotus Feet on this Christmas Day a new book titled 'STUDENTS WITH SAI: EXPERIENCES'. This book is a rare collection of 45 articles written by Swami's students based on their personal experiences with Him. Some of these students are now discharging important responsibilities in Swami's Institutions, and some others are alumni of His Educational Institutions who are participating in the larger Sai Mission across the globe. These articles span experiences of Students with Sai over four decades from the 1970s upto 2011, and make very interesting reading. The book is now available at the Prasanthi Nilayam Mandir Book Stores. The poster of the new book is attached herewith.

'Sathya Sai with Students' Blog Update - Week 67: Christmas and New Year Special

Sai Ram,

We take this opportunity to wish all our readers A HOLY AND JOY-FILLED CHRISTMAS AND A BLESSED NEW YEAR 2014.

'Sathya Sai with Students' Team presents articles for Week 67:

1. DISCOURSES TO STUDENTS: It's that time of the year when we are ready to leave behind the old and accept the new. It's the time when we plan our 'new year resolutions' and discuss and decide what we would want to do. While there are lots of these plans in our work-a-day life, there need to be some plans on our inner journey too... In this context, we have three distinct resolutions from Swami Himself that we can endeavour to practice in the new year: "Three Essentials to be remembered in the New Year".

http://sathyasaiwithstudents.blogspot.in/2013/12/three-essentials-to-be-remembered-in.html

2. EXPERIENCES OF STUDENTS: Dr. Deepak Anand writes on the theme: "Let us become His Big Instruments".

http://sathyasaiwithstudents.blogspot.in/2013/12/let-us-become-his-big-instruments-by-dr.html

3. CONVERSATIONS WITH STUDENTS: In an interaction with students and staff in the Prasanthi Nilayam portico on December 22, 2002, Swami elaborated on certain instances from the life of Jesus Christ and also gave insights into the subtle aspects of Christianity. We reminisce those conversations with Sri Sathya Sai...

http://sathyasaiwithstudents.blogspot.in/2013/12/in-conversation-with-sri-sathya-sai-on.html

4. MANAGEMENT LESSONS: The world over, a large number of problems have been witnessed in the field of Finance during the last decade. While this field is highly lucrative, it is also prone to a lot of unethical and immoral behaviour. So where do the solutions lie to these problems of the world of finance? In a three-part series, we present 9 Values-Based Solutions proposed by Swami through a series of Discourses to His Management Students: "Values-Based Solutions to Financial Problems".

http://sathyasaiwithstudents.blogspot.in/2013/12/values-based-solutions-to-financial_26.html

5. THIS DAY THAT AGE: It was the Christmas Day of 1971, when Swami performed yet another Divine Leela for a dear devotee - Walter Cowan. We recollect that landmark incident in the Avataric life: "When Sri Sathya Sai resurrected Walter Cowan on Christmas Day 1971'.

http://sathyasaiwithstudents.blogspot.in/2013/12/when-sri-sathya-sai-resurrected-walter.html

6. SONG FOR THE SOUL: As we celebrated Christmas yesterday and look forward to the new year next week, we have the song sung on this occasion by students at Prasanthi Nilayam in His Divine Presence 'We Wish you a Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year...'

AND THE AWARD GOES TO ♛ .... SUBTLER INSIGHTS ABOUT 'SAI SANJEEWANI WARRIOR' (MOBILE HOSPITAL)

▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒ i ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒

In the year 2005 , an ardent devotee from New Delhi brought a bus fully equipped with latest medical equipment by Messrs Siemens Ltd for ENT checkup , an X-ray machine , Ultrasound Machine , ECG m/c , Lab analyzer and all the machinery required for impo...rtant tests, lab diagnosis like pathological tests , Dental care etc .

Swami was very happy to see the bus and blessed this devotee profusely. Swami told him that He would bless this vehicle on a specific day. A day before the 'Blessings ' Swami expressed his willingness to enter into the bus.

Preparation began on war-footing basis because there were few challenges in this endeavor. It was not just the blessings for the Bus but it's interiors and the machinery too and the Divine inspection ,a qualitative test of all the equipment .

Bus was so huge and tall that it was not possible to park it inside Poornachandra Auditorium (PC). So, it was decided to park it just outside PC; Swami's residence in those days.

A 20 plus feet long ramp was prepared overnight for Swami's chair to be wheeled into the vehicle . Needless to say , Swami blessed not just the vehicle but each and every equipment inside. Swami inspected all the facilities and expressed His satisfaction and gave a Quality certificate.

▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒ ii ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒

Story did not end there.

Normally, Swami expects all precious vehicles to be parked and housed inside PC. As told earlier, PC shutters were lower than the height of this Bus . Various parking slots were recommended in the vicinity but Swami rejected all these suggestions and then gave instructions to park it just outside Sai kulwant hall. A moving temple of healing deserved a place inside Swami's mandir. Right in the middle , in the open path between ladies and gents sides of the hall. Even now it is parked at the same place.

Swami often used to see the vehicle going to villages in the morning and returning back during evening darshans just before aarati. Others used to take Swami's Darshan and we used to see it from behind Swami.

And now this Project (Mobile Hospital ) is being rewarded in today's CNBC TV18 Healthcare award ceremony in New Delhi.

i)Dr Narasimhan, the head of the mobile Hospital team that spends 12 days every month in villages , ii) Sri Rajeev Mahajan who took the initiative and seized every opportunity to contribute to Swami's Medicare wing of His mission and brought the Bus fully loaded and iii) Sri S. Naganand - Trustee (SSSCT) and iv) SSSIHMS - director Dr Swarna Bhardwaj are there to receive the award.

All of them of-course are the chosen instruments in the Divine hands and just the recipients,  but, the award goes to the One and Only, the Doctor of Doctors, ... Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai baba.

▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒ iii ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒

To extend the Mobile medicare story further...

"I was one , I became many" ... it happened with the creator and it happened and happening with His projects . Sri Sathya sai Mobile hospital which officially commenced services from April 2006 after tests and trial runs, was emulated by many Sathya Sai Trusts in other states of India . Maharashtra leads from front to have 108 mobile medicare vans covering all the districts of Maharashtra.

But , even now this Bus , known as Sai Sanjeewani is still unique and exclusive and no other Trust or even any Government service (108 is just an ambulance service) has this kind of Mobile warrior fully loaded with equipments operated by a rotating team of dedicated doctors reaching right at the doorstep of rural poor of AP to fight for them and to prevent and annihilate diseases.... all with the Power of Divine selfless LOVE

LOVE ALL SERVE ALL

“Celestial Christmas” – Radiosai Special facebook timeline cover to celebrate Holy Christmas!

Photo: “Celestial Christmas” – Radiosai Special facebook timeline cover to celebrate Holy Christmas!

It is yet another magical Christmas time in Prasanthi Nilayam. Swami’s abode of Supreme Preace is bubbling with Christmas joy. Gentle melody of carols floating in the air, people busily adorning every bit and corner of the Ashram and the weather playing along making sure people don't miss their white Christmas too much. Though we don't 'see' Swami in His Physical appearance, but we can feel His presence every bit. He is much here with us in the form of devotion and dedication.

It’s a joyful sight to observe how devotees from Australia changing the whole makeover of Prasanthi and its slowly decked up with lights, stars, flowers and festoons. This is a grand celebration for which many devotees wait a year over to come and merge themselves with the eternal joy of Merry Christmas.

The birthday of Jesus Christ is celebrated on the 25th of December every year with lot of devotion and enthusiasm. Before that devotes celebrate Christmas Eve on 24th evening as a part of the grand festival which marks the commencement of Holy Christmas.

Baba says that one should rededicate oneself to practicing the message of Jesus, mere worship or adoration is not enough. The Christmas celebrations are characterized by choirs and cultural programmes by the overseas devotees and students hailing the birth of the ‘Son of God’ and recapitulating various episodes from His glorious life and His teachings.

Prasanthi Nilayam, the Abode of Bhagawan Baba, brings to light a diverse perspective of the festivity called Christmas. As rightly echoed by Bhagawan in one of His Christmas Divine Discourses, the festivity is celebrated in its truest sense in Prasanthi Nilayam. Christmas in Prasanthi Nilayam is unique not only because people of all religions join together to celebrate it, but also because it is celebrated in the true spirit of Christ in the Divine Presence of our beloved Swami. That is why devotees from across the globe assemble in large numbers to celebrate Merry Christmas in Prasanthi Nilayam.

Feel free to make it your timeline cover and share with all to celebrate Celestial Christmas with us. Feel thy joy in your heart and spread the Holy light among ever corners of the world. Let us sing Thy Glory and spread Thy universal love among every hearts.

Radio Sai Special Wallpaper for Holy Christmas: “Joy to the World, our Sai has come”

Joy knows no bounds when you sing your heart in praise of His Glory. On the auspicious Christmas Eve Radiosai team presenting a special wallpaper to celebrate grand Christmas. This year devotees from Australia has decorated and made our Prasanthi Nilayam a small piece of Heaven. All corners of Prasanthi has decked up with colourful Christmas decoration and Sai Kulwant hall has turned into a beautiful paradise. This year their theme is ‘Joy to the world’.

This wallpaper too reflects that eternal joy which Swami is giving us always through various means. Devotees sing Thy glory with utmost devotion and with joy in their hearts that knew no bounds! They sing for their Lord and Swami always says that the joy which you feel from heart towards lord is eternal and unconditional. It’s so pure and full of compassion. We can observe how devotees sing Christmas carols every year in divine presence and spread Swami’s message of love among all through their devotion.

Let us now go through some wonderful excerpts from Divine Discourses where Swami explain the true meaning of Christmas and the message from Christ’s life.

“Christ determined to make the giving and sharing of love his main objective in life. Such love was met with many obstacles and losses. Christ considered a true man to be one who could face obstacles and move forward in love. Don't give in to losses and pain. Don't be carried away with pleasure. Face everything with equanimity.

Christ could never see suffering passively. In Jerusalem, doves were sold and killed as an offering. Christ decried the violence committed toward the poor creatures. He began to undertake the holy task of stopping such violence and freeing the captive birds. Some men began to cast aspersions, slandered him, and tried to punish him.

"Salutations to any living beings go toward God (Sarva bhuta namaskaram; Keshavam prati gachate)." say the Vedas. We think there is no meaning in saluting both the one who praises us and the one who criticizes us. Saluting the one who praises us is understandable, but what is the use of saluting the one who accuses us? We must have continuous relationship with accusations, because without them there is no beauty or value to praise. Without criticism, appreciation loses its meaning. That is why every word, every thought, has some obstacle or other. For the good, bad is a shadow. For pleasure, difficulty is a shadow. All opposites are interrelated. Pleasure and pain, profit and loss, exist together. Christ went on pursuing his path in the face of many obstacles with strength and endurance. He gave His life for the service of men, for the principle of love and propagation of love.

The season of Christmas is associated with Christmas Grandpa or Santa Claus. Tokovan was his original name. He was born in Turkey. He began his career as a priest and gradually began to attain spiritual heights. How did he become a spiritual giant? By the spirit of sacrifice. He used to give a chocolate a doll, or a gift to any child he met. All his life he kept on giving continuously. When Christmas was approaching, all the children used to run behind Santa Claus. He used to carry all the gifts in a bag and distribute to all the children. In what manner did he distribute them? He said, "Here is a token of God's love. Here is a token of God's love," and thus distributed them. Eventually he came to be called Christmas Grandpa, and his original name was forgotten.

The important message that I want to convey today, which Jesus also propagated, is one of love and compassion. So, boys and girls, on this holy and sacred day, when we celebrate the birthday of that holy personage, we must conduct ourselves in accordance with his message. It is easy to celebrate birthdays, but we must also keep in sight the purity and message of the person whose birthday we celebrate.

What are the ideals of Sai? Share Love, be united, consider all to be the children of God. Foster the brotherhood of man and fatherhood of God. When we accept and obey these, we can call ourselves devotees of Sai.”

-Divine Discourse (25th December 1995)

Feel free to make it your desktop background and share the eternal joy and happiness among every hearts. Let us celebrate this Holy festival with pureness and make our lives His message. Let’s sing ‘Joy to the world, the Lord is come’ and welcome our Sai in this auspicious Merry Christmas through our devotional singing.

-Radiosai team.

Message for the Week - Thursday, 19th Dec 2013

Often, in your ignorance, you feel small, you feel miserable, you feel that the wicked, greedy and cruel people are all happier than you and unjustifiably so. You are hurt and feel that it is unjust that you, who are so truthful, so loving, so virtuous, should suffer. Just ponder over this. Are they as happy as you imagine and is your condition, as bad as you portray it to be? Investigate for a minute, and you will know the truth yourself. External appearances are often like painted pots of poison. The hearts of people not adhering to Right Conduct know no peace – they are probably as miserable as you, if not more. Believe that Righteousness will never play false; it will ensure greater joy than can be gained through all other means.

- Divine Discourse, Feb 19, 1964.

Follow the Divine Command

Om Sri Sai Ram.

Swami has always emphasised privately and in His divine discourses that He has a unique Heart- to- Heart relationship with each devotee and has no intermediaries. As sincere spiritual seekers let us focus only on Swami and His message and not be deluded by outside distractions. Sadhana is the inward path.

Several claims have been made in the recent past by individuals, organisations and others who are either claiming to be Sai Baba or claiming to have received instructions from Him. They are seeking donations, participation and support for their organisation.

It is good to remember and practice what Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba Himself has said about such activities.

Please share the attached document with the Central Coordinators, Deputy Central Coordinators and National Council Presidents and request them to circulate this among all Sathya Sai Centers, Sathya Sai Groups, Sathya Sai Trusts and Sathya Sai Educational Institutions.

Let us sanctify and redeem our lives by implicitly following the divine instructions and being focused on the goal without being distracted by anyone or other external influences.

I wish all of you a happy and holy holiday season.

Jai Sai Ram.
With loving regards,
Dr. Narendranath Reddy
Chairman, Prasanthi Council

It is good to remember and practice what Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba Himself has said about such activities: “Our relationship is only heart-to-heart and love-to-love, nothing else. Swami is love personified. Swami gives importance to love and nothing else. Do not give any value to mean and meaningless talk.”

Excerpt from Discourse on 15 October 1999 at Prasanthi Nilayam

“Talking of faith, I must issue a warning. Many people are collecting money in various places using My Name for various purposes like arranging receptions, building temples, doing Puja, etc. That is unauthorised and against My wish and command. Do not yield to such requests and encourage this practice, which I condemn.”

“There is another set of people who trade on your faith. They advertise that I am 'talking' through a medium or some other thing. Treat all such people and their agents or brokers as you treat cheats; if you do not treat them so, then you are also accomplices in the cheating process.”

“There are others who gather groups of followers and admirers and collect money. They even declare, ‘Baba sent me to you to take from you some money’ or ‘Baba has given me this’ or ‘Baba blessed me specially thus and thus’ and then ask for your help or your praise or your purse! I ask you to chastise all these types of men and turn them away, whoever they are.”

Excerpts from Discourse on 25 November 1962 at Prasanthi Nilayam

“There are some who extol others for the absurd reason that Sai Baba speaks through them! How silly? It is all drama which cheats sick minds. Do not fall a prey to these. That is why I say, keep your devotion within yourself, under control, and not be led away by crooks and self-seekers. These lead you astray by giving you a wrong idea of the Lord's manifestation. They befoul the faith that their brothers and sisters repose in God.”

Excerpts from Discourse on 15 October 1964 at Prasanthi Nilayam

“People say, 'Baba appeared to me in a dream and commanded me to do this and that, to you, to collect so much from you etc.’, do not give heed to such cheats; punish them in the way they deserve. That is the advice I have to give you.”

"Do not believe if any one comes to you and declares, ‘Sathya Sai Baba came to me in my dream and commissioned me to do publicity for him. Please help me as far as you can’. I do not commission any one for such work, either in dream or while he is awake. Such men are cheats; treat them as such, without mercy”

Excerpts from Discourse on 26 March 1965 at Kakinada

“There are quite a few who declare that I am coming "upon them," possessing them rather, and they sway, shake and shiver and say all kinds of things, claiming that I am speaking through them or that they are under My Influence. They answer questions and 'foretell' things and perform many tricks to collect money or things from people who do not know Me and My reality. All this is sheer deceit; it is a disease that is spreading. Do not encourage it; nip it whenever you see cases of people suffering from it. Such people have agents and brokers; scotch them first and their puppets will disappear. They wear the dress of holiness, but their greed announces them as vile. People say 'Baba appeared to me in a dream and commanded me to do this and that, to you, to collect so much from you etc., etc. Do not give heed to such cheats; punish them in the way they deserve. That is the advice I have to give you.”

Excerpt from Discourse on 3 March 1965 at Amalaapuram

“In order to make known My majesty and My glory as the Divine that has Incarnated, miraculous happenings of an amazing nature do take place in certain areas. Taking advantage of the attraction that those happenings draw upon them, many misuse them for personal propaganda and aggrandizement. They trade for money the Vibhuthi (sacred ash) that the pictures in their altars shower! They go about pretending that they are "superior devotees" of a higher order and conferring boons and blessings on the innocent folk whom they fleece. Others put forth false claims that vibhuthi is emanating from the pictures of Baba in their homes, that Amrith (nectar) is dripping from them or that material objects are falling from them, like written answers to questions. Samithis and other Units should have no contact with such cheats and crooks. Anyone who is attached to such or who encourages such can be immediately removed.

There are others who claim that I am speaking through them, and answering questions put to them. These people must be either insane or hysteria-affected or they are possessed by some ghost or by the greed to earn money thereby. I can only tell you that it is not I that speaks through them. I do not need media; nor do I need substitutes or subsidiaries or representatives.”

Excerpt from Discourse on 22 November 1970 at Prasanthi Nilayam during All-India Conference of Workers of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations

“There are some people who are doing business in the Name of Sai. They are cheating others, pretending to be devotees of Sai. I do not approve of such behaviour. They are not devotees at all. They are going to different parts of the country and also abroad to make money in the name of Sai. It is a big crime. I do not ask for even a single paisa from others. I never approve of such business. Whoever it may be, if somebody approaches you with such a crass motive, tell him to get out at once. Do not allow business to enter the field of spirituality.”

Excerpt from Discourse given on 22 July 2002 at Prasanthi Nilayam during International Seva Conference

“In foreign countries, some Indians are claiming themselves to be Swami's devotees, and they are telling many lies using the name of Swami for collecting money. Some claim they are constructing temples and schools for Swami, and they collect money. These are all blatant lies. Swami has not accepted any money for any purpose. So be careful, and keep those people at a distance who approach you for money in the name of Sai.”

Excerpt from Discourse for American devotees on 27 July 2002 at Prasanthi Nilayam

“Utilize the chance of association with Me as much as possible, and endeavour as quickly and as best as you can, to follow the directions that I have been giving. Obeying My instructions is enough; it will benefit you more than the most rigorous asceticism. Practice Sathya, Dharma, Santhi and Prema, which are dear to Me; resolve to keep those ideals before you ever, in all your thoughts, words and deeds. That can confer on you the summum bonum of mergence in the Supreme Substance of divinity.”

Excerpt from Discourse given on 17 May 1968 in Mumbai during World Conference of SSS Seva Organizations

Let us sanctify and redeem our lives by implicitly following the divine instructions and being focused on the goal without being distracted by anyone or other external influences.

Jai Sai Ram.

'Sathya Sai with Students' Team presents articles for Week 64:

1. Discourses to Students: We all have different understanding of what God is. For some, He is the Emperor of the Universe, for some He is the Tough Taskmaster, and for some He is the Compassionate Cosmic Mother. In a Discourse to His students at Trayee Brindavan on April 9, 1999, Swami told them: 'God is a Postman'.

2. Experiences of Students: Brother Hari Shankar writes on the theme: "The Golden Chapters of my life at His University."

3. Conversations with Students: Swami is a master-story teller who always gives the inner significance of the great legends from Indian history. In one such conversation with His students in the interview room on August 30, 1991, Swami told the students about: "The significance of the 5 husbands of Draupadi".

4. Management Lessons: It is said that India lives in its villages. No doubt, the service activity most dear to our Lord is Rural Development. This week, we conclude with the last part of this multi-part series on the theme of 'Integrated Rural Development: Guidelines by Sri Sathya Sai' given to students of the Management programme of His University by Swami on different occasions during the last two decades.

5. This Day That Age: It was in this month in 1971 that the India-Pakistan War was in full swing. However, in a mysterious way, Swami had blessed victory for India in this war 6 months earlier in July 1971. Let's read about it...
