PARTHI NEWS - AUGUST 2013

'Love Help and Serve All' event film, Sai Baba's hand written books, and Gayatri Mantra chanting...

FROM Jiten Thakrar

Dear global devotees,

Below is a link for a filming of a program which was organised and presented by Sarbjit Basra with the task of spreading spiritual teachings to the community at large...

http://vedantaempire.com/lovehelpserveallleic.htm

Sarbjit has taken the spiritual guidance and teachings of Sathya Sai Baba and disclosed them to the local community and the general public. The message and purpose of the day was just as it's title suggested: 'Love, Help and Serve All'. This program was the first of many similar events to follow across the world...

This email is going out to simply reach a wider audience to that of the local public who had the opportunity to attend on the day, of 28th April 2013.

With unconditional love and open expansion to all: Individuals of all backgrounds, cultures, religions (and those without following a religion), from all nations can be reached and united with the basic principles of Truth, Love and Peace.- All thanks to Sai Baba's inspirational teachings: God alone is the True doer!

Sarbit's book is raising money for Mother Theresa hospitals (more info can be seen at the end of the film)...

I am sure you will all be impressed, inspired and gladdened with what you see on the above link!

After contemplating and praying on the subject of knowledge sharing to help each and everyone to be more enlightened and tuned in to God's teachings; it has been decided to share Sathya Sai Baba's Vahini books within these emails. Therefore, starting from this email, a Vahini book shall be attached each time a global email goes out, until the whole Vahini series have been included. The file attached to this email contains God's hand-written; 'Bahagavatha Vahini'.

During one of Sai Baba's later discourses, He had disclosed that He was speaking less than before, as He did not feel like speaking! What was the reason that He gave for speaking less? - He explained that it is because the majority of devotees were not listening to His messages, and the main purpose that He had manifested in a form was to teach us all the spiritual Truths and path to devotion. So, let's be passionate and dedicated to reading His messages from now on. Sai Baba has written sixteen 'Vahinis'! - Now imagine if today, we found books directly written by Krishna, Ram, Buddha, Jesus, Mary; etc... Let's face it: The world would be overjoyed and be so excited and happy to find out what God has to say, directly! - Well, a theory is that as the majority had taken the latest Avatar for granted, many have overlooked such beautiful gifts as these. So, please do consider reading these books as they are a gift from God, (literally)! This is a chance for each individual to know what God Himself has to say, without any 'middle-man' or anyone's misinterpretation, loss of memory or unfortunate perception involved.

Thank you Baba for showering us all with so much love and blessings!

We unite and chant on a global scale, every two months, to express unconditional love to God, asking Him to always care for His own physical forms, just as He does of ours; His children... To join in and for further information, please contact: jitenthakrar@yahoo.co.uk

The next global Gayatri Mantra chanting program takes place tomorrow (Saturday, 31st August 2013)... - Please email jitenthakrar@yahoo.co.uk for more information for all future Gayatri Mantra chanting programs; to ask God to always care for His forms...

MEDICAL CAMP IN SRI SATHYA SAI SCHOOL, BAGEPALLI

Om Sairam dearest Sai Family

August 24, 2013, was a memorable day in the history of Sri Sathya Sai Vidyaniketan, Bagepalli, one of the 100, Sathya Sai Schools of India which had the unique and rare privilege of being inaugurated by Swami Himself and Swami blessed this school by visiting 11 times since its inception.

Swami was personally monitoring the progress of the school and it was one of the very fortunate institutions for the " Physical attention" and sure enough the " quality of education" imparted to these children is second to none especially to the poverty stricken area in and around Bagepalli about 60 kilometers from Puttaparthi.

The school which is situated right on the Bangalore - Puttaparthi National Highway near Bagepalli, has students from very poor financial backgrounds. The villages surrounding the school are completely dependent on Agriculture and due to scanty rainfall the farmers in these villages are devoid of basic facilities which included Medical care.

Identifying the urgent need for proper Medical Assistance, few like minded devotees of Bhagawan, came forward to lend a helping hand to these poor villages. Thus this Maiden medical camp came into existence and with Swami's grace it was a grand success. With in short notice, about 11 doctors along with 5 Medical students came to serve the poor patients. A 10 member paramedical and Pharmacist team headed by Dr.Ganesh,Diabetologist drove all the way from Chennai to serve in the medical camp.

About 2 weeks before the Medical camp, 30 villages were informed about the date and venue in the form of Banners, handouts and also through loud speakers fitted to an auto rickshaw. Right from early morning, the villagers started thronging to the venue and every one were happy by the kind gesture of Swami's devotees. By just a glance, we could say how poor these less fortunates were and one villager by name Nagappa, came to me and said, " Sathya Sai Baba ledani evvaru chepparu? Idigo ikkadey, ippudey unnadu. leka potey intha mandi bhakthulu maaku sahayam cheyadaniki vasatara? ( Who said Sathya Sai Baba is not there any more? He is present right here and now. Other wise how will His devotees come forward to help us by providing medicines?) These words were enough to understand how appreciative they were for the kind gesture by the Sai fraternity.

Sensing the urgent need for medical attention and the response, the organisers of this medical camp decided on the day itself to have this camp once in every two months and the next one is scheduled on October 20 and December 22nd respectively.

Specialist doctors in Diabetology, E.N.T, Dentists, Physicians, Gynecology, Pediatrics, General Medicine, Orthopedics were present in this camp. All the patients especially those suffering from Diabetics and B.P were given medicines for 2 months and were asked to come back for a review in the next camp.

It was also a unique opportunity for the students of this school to lend their helping hand during this camp. They were entrusted the duty of registration, assisting the patients, guiding them to the right doctor and translating in the local language. Such experiences will definitely pave way for them to develop a sense of service and become worthy instruments of Sai as they grow up.

Apart from free medicines four hear aids were also given away to poor patients.

Apart from sharing this good news this email is also intended to let you know that you also can take part in any way you deem to be fit. The organisers are looking for doctors, volunteers, pharmacologists, pharma representatives (who could send medicines), volunteers etc.

For more details on this medical camp which will be held once in two months you may write to Mr.Srinivasa Reddy, omnipresentsai@gmail.com  or phone 09448078233

Unity in Diversity.. All are one be alike to every one

May Swami's love flow from each and every one of us. Like Swami, may all of us spread joy and bliss to the world. Let there be peace and tranquillity in the world..

3. Conversations with Students: People across India celebrated Raksha Bandhan in the last week. In an interaction with His students in the Prasanthi Nilayam Mandir in August 1998, Swami shared that this festival started during the Avatar of Lord Krishna.

DIVINE HERITAGE performed in Kala Academy Goa

The children of the Balvikas Sanskar Kendras from Goa presented a programme - ‘Divine Heritage’ of Goa , on August 19 at 7 p.m. at Kala Academy.

Goa, a land of deities is known for its culture and traditions, which date back to ancient times. The real heritage of this region is therefore, the divine heritage. The children of the Balvikas Sanskar Kendras from Goa as well as Maharashtra, on the eve of holy Ashadhi Ekadashi, last month presented this culture and traditions through a musical offering titled, Divine Heritage’ at Prasanthi Nilayam, the abode of Sri Sathya Sai Baba, in the South Indian village of Puttaparthi.

The group comprising of Goan children only, presented the same programme at the Dinanath Mangueshkar Kala Mandir, Kala Academy complex on August 19, 2013

The musical offering started with the depiction of a holiday tour of a US based NRI family to the state of Goa. It also presented the diverse and rich cultural heritage of Goa that was once under the Portuguese regime for about four-and-a-half centuries as also unique folk festivals and traditions of this land.

The influence of Portuguese music and dance on the local culture, which has helped evolve new cultural forms, is the most significant part of this musical event, in turn illustrating the unity in diversity of Goan heritage. The co-existence of the Hindus and Christians in peace and harmony was shown in this presentation. The folk dances of the land namely Goff Kunbi dance, Virabhadra, Ghodhe Modni, Musal dance, Dhangar dance and so on, were also shown in the colourful extravaganza.

Commencing with the legend of Goa that dates back to the era of Lord Parashurama, Divine Heritage’ the connection of Goa with Lord Parashurama, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, who it is believed, several thousand years ago created the entire stretch of Konkan coast by directing the seas to recede was also highlighted.

The unique event also showcased the Goan Carnival, an important festival in the month of February, when Goa’s streets display an atmosphere of frenzy, with a mixed pack of cultural variety.

The most salient feature of the programme was the depiction of Goan connection with Mother Nature, highlighting how every festivity and traditional folk dances blend in unique fashion adorning Mother Nature.

‘Divine Heritage’ ended the programme with the introduction of the Guru, as the NRI family met its Goan family and friends. Answering a curious question from a girl in this US based family, the village man in the music-drama replied that the Guru was none other than Bhagwan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, who had blessed the land of Goa with his presence, back in 1970.

1. Discourses to Students: On August 21, 1986, when Swami inaugurated the Management Programme at His University, He gave a Discourse at the Prasanthi Nilayam Campus of the Institute clearly outlining the focus and uniqueness of this course. Sai Ram,

The 'Sathya Sai with Students' Blog Team wishes all its readers in India a 'Happy Independence Day' and presents the articles for Week 48

1. Discourses to Students: On this very day, 28 years ago, Swami gave a Discourse on the occasion of the Indian Independence Day at the Prasanthi Nilayam Campus of the University. We reminisce the Divine Message - Indian Independence: A Journey

http://sathyasaiwithstudents.blogspot.in/2013/08/indian-independence-journey.html

2. Experiences of Students: Brother Abhay Gautam writes on the theme: " Living with Sai "

4. Management Lessons:  While contemporary management texts give insights on leadership through the lives of modern day business and political leaders, Swami gave detailed lessons on leadership from the lives of great Indian sages and kings of yore in a Discourse to His Management students almost a quarter century ago. We reminisce the virtues of those exemplary individuals.

http://sathyasaiwithstudents.blogspot.in/2013/08/leadership-lessons-from-great-indian.html#.UgvS3ZLQnwg

5. This Day That Age: Many times we believe that things happen based on human effort. We often forget that it is the Divine Master Plan that is unfolding before us, and that we are mere instruments. Similar is the case with the Indian independence struggle. Many years before August 15, 1947, Swami had already announced the exact date on which we would attain our political independence!

Divine Heritage - A Musical Drama by Youth and Bal Vikas children of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation - Goa

Invitation to the Musical Drama entitled "Divine Heritage" by Youth and Bal Vikas children of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation- Goa on 19th August, 2013

WHEN SATHYA SAI BABA GIFTED A MOSQUE TO PUTTAPARTHI.... AN EYE WITNESS ACCOUNT

Om Sairam dearest Sai Family

The holy festival of Muslims brothers and sisters, Ramzan is going to be celebrated on August 9th 2013 in India (hopefully the Eid ka Chand (Moon) will show up on this day). A month long fasting will come to an end with a prayer to the All merciful Allah who has given every thing that a life can ask for.

Puttaparthi, a " MINI WORLD", has a considerable number of muslims. Lot of them are migrants from near by towns and villages, who came in search of work. Any one who have a house in Parthi would have definitely come across carpenters, plumbers, painters, masons, taxi drivers etc who are Muslims.

In the HIStory of our beloved Lord, when we go back to His schooling days, Swami is in pure ecstasy when He narrates how His teacher Janam Mahaboob Khan realised the divinity in the Little Sathya who other wise seemed to be a normal kid to other teachers. Even though the Muslim religion says strict NO to idolatry or rev erring any other human being as God, Swami won the hearts of so many Muslim brothers and sisters right from His childhood days to the recent Iranian brothers.

Swami's institution also has seen so many students from this community eager to learn vedas and explore the depth and vastness of spirituality. For this academic year (2013-2014) (to my knowledge) at least 8 Muslim students have joined Swami's institutions which speaks how open and receptive they are towards Swami's approach of religion.

Before drawing attention of Muslims across the globe, Swami made sure the local Muslims are looked after very well. It was the days of "Black and White era" and local Muslims had to tread 5 kilometers to near by Bukkapatnam to offer prayers as Puttaparthi didn't have a Mosque of its own. Realising the troubles the locals had to face, Swami immediately built one beautiful mosque in Gokulam and was inaugurated in August 1978 just before Ramzan.

The Young Man of yesteryear in the picture is Mr.Mohammed a well known person to Puttaparthians who just retired as a postman with a 40 years experience under his belt. I thought of meeting him and getting more info on that memorable day. After retirement, he now lives with his eldest son and family in a small house behind the post office in Gokulam. The moment I showed this photo to him he had this 70MM smile on his face with an effulgence of 1000 volt bulb. He said it was a memorable day of my life. Swami spoke with me so nicely and full of love. He was inquiring about our problems, about our families. He asked us to be always united as all religions speak only about love.

He then said," Being a local postman, i had the opportunity to see Him so many times. As the number of devotees were very few in those days and no strict rules and regulations, there were times when i personally delivered letters to Swami (both official and personal). He used to joke with me saying i already have bundle of letters and you are giving me heavy "work load" by bringing more. I couldn't say a word but laugh at His timely joke. He used to give me new clothes for Dasara and Ramzan and I knew it was a rare thing to happen. He said long ago, that the whole world, including the Muslim world will come to Puttaparthi and i was fortunate to witness this with my own eyes" .

He continued to say, " As years passed by, things started changing and number of devotees were increasing day by day. The chance of delivering the letters personally to Swami was not possible any more but in the heart of my heart , even today, I know He is verily My Allah who came into my life, made me happy and content"

(File photo of Mr.Mohammed having Ramzan darshan with his two sons in the year 2009)

When I asked him what is so unique about Sathya Sai Baba, He quickly replied " Swami never forgets any one. No matter how poor you are, no matter how busy He is, He always has time to look at you and smile and if needed talk to you. This is not to be seen with my friends, many of whom are now businessmen and builders and don't even look at me if not talk to me"

He continued to say, " Swami has been very kind to my children. My grand son is now studying 4th grade in Smt. Eswaramma School, (with his eyes brightly lit and with a sense of proud grand father he said) " He can chant (mantralu) vedas much better than the local temple priest"

There was no pride in this statement but a sense of gratitude to Swami by a grand father who is proud of his grand son's achievements courtesy of Bhagawan. I just couldn't stop my tears but give him a big hug wishing Eid Mubarak, I took leave from him thanking Swami from the heart of my hearts for letting me read another beautiful page from the Book of Sathya Sai Baba's love for His devotees.

No place, No town, No country in this world has this unique opportunity of housing so many religions, faiths sit together, eat together, sing together other than Puttaparthi the abode of our beloved Lord.

I remember those painful days of Swami's hospitalization, when one fine evening, all the Muslim brothers took Swami's photo in procession praying for His speedy recovery. This was a heart warming scene which only shows how much Swami was loved by every one and every body..

Let this Ramzan be a reminder to every one of us that we are verily the one Human race. Let this Ramzan develop brotherhood of Man and Father hood of God with in us and let this Ramzan be an occasion to pray to our beloved Lord, thanking Him for all that He did and is doing for us..

With Pranams at the Lotus feet of our beloved Lord.

In this context, the word 'secular' has been often misinterpreted and misused both in India and abroad. In His interactions with students and staff at Trayee Brindavan in April 1999, Swami shared the essence of True Secularism. He told them what He had told the Prime Minister of India and his council of ministers during His visit to New Delhi in March 1999.

2. Experiences of Students: Brother Harish M. writes on the theme: "When Allah Sai saved me..."

3. Conversations with Students: In the first fortnight of August 1991, Swami was 'upset' with His students. The students were trying different ways to seek His pardon and earn His grace and forgiveness. We conclude this two part series, when Swami finally gave the students an interview and shared with them His expectations from them - "Please forgive us Swami! - Part 2"

4.Management Lessons: In modern times, the demand for rights has gained increasing importance across continents. However, Swami always focusses on the need for everyone to realise and discharge one's responsibilities effectively. That would lead to a better world that we all seek. In a Discourse to the Management students of His University, Swami elaborated on the theme: "What is my Responsibility in the World?".

5. This Day That Age: As the world celebrates Ramzan Id on August 9th, 2013, we reminisce this period in August 1978, 35 years ago, when Swami inaugurated a mosque built by Him for the Muslim Devotees.
